^^ I think hannie = sagamite. I also don't think Adriano is bad or has been a bad signing. I remember our last CL game against Rubin Kazan, he played as a leftback and he did really well. I like his versatility, he play as a right, left or centreback. I think he's just lacking confidence, he just needs a decent run of games. Stealthy:Bojan very recently signed a new contract. Huge potential in the lad but he's really struggling to fulfil on the promises he showed as a youngster. Valencia were rumoured to be interested in signing him recently but I think Pep has alot of belief in him. Who is K9, Keirisson? Where is he? |
Roger Federer breezed past Xavier Malisse in straight sets - 6 - 3, 6 - 3, 6 - 1. Svetlana Kuznetsova also eliminated Justine Henin - 6 - 4, 7 - 6 Kei Nishikori vs Fernando Verdasco promises alot of fireworks. On paper, it looks like an easy one for Verdasco but Nishikori defeated Florian Mayer who defeated Nikolay Davydenko. |
Andy Murray beat Illya Marchenko 6 - 1 6 - 3 6 - 3. Although not against major opponent but Murray was great in this match. He had 16 aces. He will now face Guillermo Garcia Lopez in the 3rd round. |

One thing KH has succeded in doing is putting some very huge question marks over MI's ability and cred. Before now, almost everyone had swallowed hook, line, bait and sinker that MI was the best. Now, everyone is begining to see that perhaps, Mr. Incredible ain't so incredible after all. Even if KH does nothing else, he should take pride in the fact that he has demystified MI. |

Marin Cilic vs John Isner is another one to watch out for. 15th seed vs 20th seed. Cilic has been playing some fantastic tennis below the radar. The biggest upset so far has been 7th seed, Jelena Jankovic losing in straight sets, 7 - 6, 6 - 3, to Shuai Peng ranked 54th. |
^^ we are facing Almeria in the semis. I didnt see the game. I saw the highlights this morning. I always knew it was gonna be impossible for Betis to overturn a 5 goal defecit. I think our players equally had that at the back of their minds and so they their feet off the gas pedal. Not the best birthday gift for Pep but the 'koko' is that we are through. hannie:Given that you're the most insensate of gaynners, not at all a stunner. Why is it a monkey, of all animals, you keep? Is it because of your striking resemblance with one or perhaps, keeping one is your best way of connecting with your roots, Mr. howler monkey? |
LOL. . . See who's talking. Anyways, I think they are very similar characters. |
Wow! What a game. Federer leading 5 - 2 |
^^LOL You know gaynners have daftness for a talent but hannie's is off the chains. We've been linked with a move for United's fullback, Rafael da Silva. I think he's being lined up as a replacement for Dani, should Dani not sign an extension to his contract. For today's game, I expect Pep to give the fringe players some time out on the pitch. I'd love to see Afellay start. |
Women's top seed, Caroline Wozniacki made light work of Vania King winning 6 - 1, 6 - 0, in 58 minutes. 2nd round tie for Federer against Giles Simons. A very tricky tie. Federer has never defeated Simons. |

^^Let's not also forget that he has led Barca to 5 straight el - classico victories(With the 1 - 0 victory over RM at the Camp Nou last season, he became the first manager to have won 3 straight el classico matches. No team had previously won 3 straight el classico matches. Now he has won 5). Happy birthday Pep. Simply the best |

Hmm. Well, I got into a fight there. I got there as early as 6:50 am, we were only four on the queue. After waiting and waiting, the corps member finally arrived only to tell us they are continuing where they left off the previous day I was the first to object. "A fresh day, a fresh start" was what I said. The guy probably thought I was joking. Then came a guy trying to 'chance' me and then it became yelling unlimited, things got out of hand. . . The silly corper kept referring to me as "young man"(I finished serving two years ago). |

Poor officiating, brawl highlight Nigerian games Sunday’s Week 12 games were a combination of poor officiating by match arbiters, three red cards and a wrestling bout in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL). In Aba, centre referee from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Adamu Gambo, contrived to give 11 minutes of added time in the game between titleholders, Enyimba and Warri Wolves to the shock of the travelling contingent and journalists except the home fans. Spokesman of Warri Wolves, Timi Ebikagboro, told SuperSport.com that the officiating from Gambo and his assistants, Alfred Saiki from Kano and Aliyu Abdullahi from Kaduna, was one of the worse he has seen in recent times in Nigeria’s topflight. “Almost every major call that the referee made was against Warri Wolves,” complained Ebikagboro. “At almost every instance we made an attacking attempt, our team was flagged offside and so the boys resorted to taking shots from long distance. At the end he added 10 minutes for a game that witnessed very little stoppage.” The game in Aba was seven minutes past regulation time before the fourth official, M. Ogunta from Abia, signalled for four minutes to be added. But Paul Aigbogun’s men held on for a point leaving the Peoples Elephant with their first draw at home. In Kano, Zamfara United in spite of grabbing their third win of the campaign had midfielder Usman Mohammed sent off by referee Benjamin Ode from the FCT, Abuja for a two-footed tackle on 44 minutes against Crown Football Club. But Crown, on the other hand, failed to make good use of playing against 10-men, as striker Bode Daniel missed a spot kick saved by Zamfara United goalie, Olabisi Adewunmi. However, the game in Ijebu-Ode earlier tipped as one of the star games for Sunday turned out to be a brawl between players of Sunshine Stars and Heartland, as the centre referee, Friday Awogo from the FCT, Abuja, could not stamp his authority on the game. Heartland skipper, Chinedu Efugh, simply told SuperSport.com: “The ref messed up the game.” Trouble started in Ijebu-Ode the moment Joshua Obaje cancelled Ibrahim Ajani’s 11th minute strike with fans of Sunshine Stars screaming from the stands with threatening words at the match officials. Some journalists were also harassed in the heat of the troubled at the Gateway International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode. The game at the MIKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta witnessed another ugly incident, as Rapheal Musa became the second Shooting Stars’ player to be sent off this season. Musa was shown the marching order by referee Godwin Ubosi from Enugu for retaliating against Kaduna United's Anthony Michael in the 74th minute. Another drama followed few minutes later when Kaduna United’s Nelson Nimyel was sent off for aiming a punch at Akindele Toluwase. In the face of the mixed drama in the Week 12 games, Dolphins remain top and two points clear of the chasing pack. |
Bukola Babes’ Allen leads Team of Week For the first time this season, one of the coaches from the newcomers to the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has been picked as coach of the week. Bukola Babes’ head coach, Festus Allen (pictured), gets the nod from the Premier League’s panel to lead the Team of the Week in a 4-4-2 formation following his side’s thrashing of Kadiri Ikhana’s Kwara United. With Allen in the Team of the Week are two of his players – Seun Sogbesan and Effiom Otu-Bassey – who slot into centre-back and left midfield respectively. Warri Wolves share same number of entrants into this week’s team with goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim, centre-back ThankGod Ike and midfielder Emmanuel Omodiagbe making the cut. Victor Ezema of Kaduna United is picked for right-back while dead-ball specialist Daniel Mende of Sunshine Stars is named at left-back. The duo of Josiah Maduabuchi of Enyimba and Gabriel Reuben of Kano Pillars complete a four-man midfield. The two men that accounted for the goals in the game between Kano Pillars and Sharks last Saturday, Victor Ezeji (Sharks) and Victor Namo (Kano Pillars), will lead the attacking line for this week’s team. Why they made the team Goalkeeper: Chigozie Agbim (Warri Wolves) The Nigeria B Team goalie was the man that stood between Enyimba and three points in Aba. Valentine Nwabili, Junior Osagie and John Agbawu all tested him. Agbim made two top drawer saves including one from Nnaemeka Anyanwu on 28 minutes that will stand out as one of the saves of the season. He was definitely the reason for Wolves taking a point in Aba, as he beat Olabisi Adewunmi of Zamfara United and Okiemute Odah of Sharks to this position. Right-back: Victor Ezema (Kaduna Utd) It was a very composed performance from Ezema against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC). Maurice Cooreman detailed him to man-mark Gbolahan Salami and he did it so well but for goalkeeper Richard Ochanyi’s error that gift the Shooting Stars’ man a goal. But Ezema kept Salami quiet in the game. Centre-back: Seun Sogbesan (Bukola Babes) He was massive in the defence line of Bukola Babes and made sure that the attackers of Kwara United were kept quiet for 90 minutes. Sogbesan also covered every blade of the grass in the defence line, as Bukola Babes romped to a 3 – 0 shock win over Kadiri Ikhana’s men. Centre-back: ThankGod Ike (Warri Wolves) Ike was a rock in the centre of Warri Wolves defence and no wonder coach Paul Aigbogun loves handing him a starting place every time. The Nigeria B Team defender held off Enyimba on a number of occasions with his aerial presence and calculative tacklings to make sure Wolves left Aba with a result. Left-back: Daniel Mende (Sunshine Stars) Mende made the left side of the field of his team his own. He was visibly all through the game and capped a fine performance with a stunning free-kick that ensured that Sunshine Stars continue to chase Dolphins at the summit of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL). Right midfielder: Josiah Maduabuchi (Enyimba) This talented Enyimba playmaker held the ball in the middle so well and caused his opponents problems with his dribbling runs. On almost every occasion, he was the creative spark in the Peoples Elephant’s setup against Warri Wolves. Central midfielder: Gabriel Reuben (Kano Pillars) Though he is a defensive midfielder, Reuben has the knack of venturing forward and back within the twinkle of an eye. He is a box-to-box player and he exhibited that character against Sharks on Saturday for Kano Pillars. Central midfielder: Emmanuel Omodiagbe (Warri Wolves) The former Heartland midfielder played the holding role in front of his side’s centre-backs very well. He foiled several attempts from the rampaging Enyimba attackers. Left midfielder: Effiom Otu-Bassey (Bukola Babes) The left-footed has been impressive this season and he continued that performance by running Kwara United’s defence ragged. He also got one of the three goals scored by his team that nailed Kwara United. Striker: Victor Ezeji (Sharks) The veteran striker was a handful for Kano Pillars’ defence in Saturday’s 1 – 1 draw. He got the goal for the Blue Angels and troubled Pillars back line during the match. Striker: Victor Namo (Kano Pillars) He came on as a substitute and immediately his presence was felt, as he stretched Sharks defence by drawing them to the wings and creating acres of space for his teammates in the middle. In spite of the fact that he lost his father, Namo got a late equaliser for Pillars to save his side the embarrassment of losing at home. Coach: Festus Allen (Bukola Babes) It is not often that coaches regarded as upcoming are seen as flooring their experienced counterparts. But Allen did so in style against his Kwara United counterpart, Kadiri Ikhana, a former African Coach of the Year and winner of the NPL. Team of the Week Chigozie Agbim (Warri Wolves) Victor Ezema (Kaduna Utd) Seun Sogbesan (Bukola Babes) ThankGod Ike (Warri Wolves) Daniel Mende (Sunshine Stars) Josiah Maduabuchi (Enyimba) Gabriel Reuben (Kano Pillars) Emmanuel Omodiagbe (Warri Wolves) Effiom Otu-Bassey (Bukola Babes) Victor Ezeji (Sharks) Victor Namo (Kano Pillars) Coach: Festus Allen (Bukola Babes) http://www.naijaligue..com |
