Romance › Re: Whats Your ZODIAC SIGN? by medoyin(m): 11:43am On Sep 24, 2015 |
EggovinMma: Taurus - The Bull April 20 - May 20 Your element: Earth Your ruling planets: Venus Symbol: The Bull Your stone: Emerald Life Pursuit: Emotional and financial security
Vibration: Determined energy
Taurus Secret Desire: To have a secure, happy and wealthy life/marriage.
Underneath their cool, calm and collected exterior, Taureans differ greatly from all the other signs of the zodiac. Taureans manage to discreetly stay apart from the crowd, even though they have a well-earned reputation for being socialisers. They will let others get close, but only so close as they want them. Some claim that trying to get your point across to a Taurean, should they not want to hear you, is rather similar to talking to the trees they simply won't budge. And, there is no such thing as an open-book Taurean. Their feelings, fears and desires often run far deeper than anyone around them would guess. Like the butterfly that chooses to remain hidden in its cocoon until it is ready and prepared to emerge, so the true Taurean spirit remains hidden behind a veneer of day-to-day activities. That's why Taureans are sometimes regarded as snobby, withdrawn, boring, or even sulky.
The truth is, when Taureans manage to operate very adequately on their own form of automatic pilot, they can switch off from the world around them very efficiently. And when they do switch off, they are actually gathering in their inner reserves to deal with the outside pressures. This sign is also very closely connected to 'feeling good'. Most Taureans like their creature comforts and hate change because it takes them out of their automatic pilot condition of separating themselves from the world around them.
Because they hate to be put in jeopardy of any kind, this is the sign that strives to create tomorrow in advance, rather than leave it to fate. In love, Taureans are regarded as extremely sensual beings. An earth sign, they deal well with the personal, physical senses and consequently all the pleasures associated with what they can see, touch, smell and taste, add up to a special delight to them. Often nature and pet lovers, Taureans are closely associated with all things off the earth and nature.

Nairaland General › Re: Rule 22 Against Asking For Money On Nairaland by medoyin(m): 9:41pm On Sep 20, 2015 |
nex: Seun
DO NOT DO IT!
It is time you understood that Nairaland is no longer a website. Nairaland is a communications infrastructure just like Telephony. Imagine MTN saying they will cut off all call in which the caller is asking for money, or that they will block delivery of all SMSes which have content asking for money.
Of course GSM lines are being used everyday to scam Nigerians, and the operators are aware, but the measures they are putting in place include registration of phone numbers. Now, what I can suggest to you, Seun, In that line, is that Nairaland should ask EVERY Member to verify their membership using a phone number. This way scams can be reported to law enforcement agencies, and criminals can be caught, and that will deter others. Spammers can also be more easily muted using their verified registered phone number, and they won't be able to use it to open another account on Nairaland.
As much as I do not use Nairaland to seek for funds in anyway whatsoever, I believe there people who do with genuine causes, and they should not be stopped from access what has now become a social infrastructure just because there are those those who seek funds for dubious reasons on the same infrastructure.
We all know that people have been murdered after being invited over by their Facebook friends, but that has not prompted Facebook to unleash sniffer bots that will stop guys from sending messages to ladies inviting them over to their homes. Facebook is bigger than what it was built to be. It's is now a communications infrastructure for the entire world. Nairaland must think like this!
Will email you this, as I doubt you'll be able to sift it out from the hundreds of messages. Mail him please else, I forsee the end of nairaland. #My $5 |

Gboliwe: I didn't realise I was outdated in my CV writing until someone, a friend asked me to help him build his CV.
That was last week.
Over time, I have had to work on CVs a lot and realised that most times, we don't get the job, not because we aren't competent enough for the position but our CV "fall our hand" and before you say "jack", the recruiter dumps it for some other ones.
I was under tutelage for some weeks under an amazing very intelligent nairalander. She helped repackage my CV some years ago and ever since, my CV has been opening the doors for me.
Basically, the above were what she omitted and some others too.
I hope this helps someone. Sis, time to review my CV. |

chax100: My embittered friend, I wouldn't have noticed the school exist. It was as a result of the massive 'Akara' activities that made me inquire to know what business could converge such people together around a remote environment. Let truth be told, if not for that travelling opportunity, I would have thought Oduduwa University was a school for the Odua Peoples Congress. . And you are one those graduates. Hmm, I can see why nysc needs to be scrapped. You had a good experience on a good policy of the govt, you inquired on a place you have never seen before, and your conclusion was what just what you put up there. Don't judge #lesson 1 Thank God for nysc that gave you little experience, I wonder if you would have ever travelled outside your abode.Hope you visited Eksu where the ''standard'' is over board? The school that extends your stay with an extra year due to incessant strikes. Travel more. #lesson 2 Because people were buying stuffs on the expressway, it means they were students of the University and the University is substandard? ?Ask more questions #lesson 3 Madam traveller, let me enlighten you more. Oduduwa University is the very liberal, the school allows students to stay off campus which is one of its social resposibility to the village that habours it or is it a crime to allow students stay off campus with their parents consent or must all Universities follow the same trend of caging students.? That is why you saw students either going home or buying stuffs. Be a good listener # lesson 4 My mind says, you went to a private university that caged you all through your days on campus. Sorry if am wrong, just my thought. |

ojnnaco: So what abt pple dat are about to graduate in those universities nko?? Should they now strt aftesh ? Nothing to worry about. NUC visits Universities every 2yrs to accredit courses and the report you read was that of this year. They did not cancel any course in any of the listed Universities neither did they state any punitive measures. The proprietors know what to do. |

Education › Re: 11 Nigerian Universities Are Substandard – NUC by medoyin(m): 1:55pm On Aug 14, 2015 |
Nigerians will never stop judging their fellow men especially the so called leaders of tomorrow.
You guys will complain that the fees are much and all these Universities need to employ and pay salaries. They have contributed and still contributing to the growth of the nation in different ways and putting on the headline that, they are substandard is unfair.
Op, your tittle is misleading and should be changed.
NUC never said the Universities were substandard, they did not meet the set criterias after 3yrs of issuing provisonal licenses and 2yrs was given for them to make amends with proper monitoring.
It's a good omen though, the universities will work hard to meet up the set standards in order not to loose their license. |

undisputedgbola: How about Oduduwa University? The fees you see there is wrong. OUI, you pay per semester, depending on the dept and the hostel you wish you stay. New intakes are to pay 50k for acceptance fee. The highest is 250k per semester for mass comm and computer science and lowest is 200k per semester for political science and public administration. You can stay off campus if you wish but not advisable for new intakes. |
Education › Re: JAMB Should Reverse The Redistribution Of Candidates by medoyin(m): 3:45pm On Jul 25, 2015 |
simdam500: The issue is on both sides. Jamb intention towards the students is positive, just that the route they embark on to make it positive isn't right.
Jamb isn't bothered about the students with higher score but the students with +180, so that they won't continue to take jamb form every year and the number of applicant every year can be reduced....
My take You nailed it. Those affected find it hard to tell themselves the truth, they all want to attend the Ivory tower as if job is guaranteed after graduating. |
