Nigeria’s downstream sector records a yearly income of 56 billion dollars, Mr Abayomi Awobokun, Chief Executive Officer, Enyo Retail and Supply Limited, has said.


Awobokun made this known at an interactive session with journalists on Wednesday in Lagos.

He said that the sector could boost the nation’s revenue above the 56 billion dollars annually, if more investment could be encouraged.

Awobokun urged the Federal Government to encourage more investments into the downstream sector to unlock business potential in the oil and gas industry.

He also urged the government to look inward and ensure that challenges facing the sector were addressed.

The chief executive officer said that lack of good networks of road to the terminal where marketers load products posed serious challenge to the downstream sector.

He urged the government to do something about it in order to boost the nation’s revenue drive.

Awobokun, on the uniqueness of the budding retail outlets, said that in the next five years, players in the downstream sector would change.

He said that many of the players in the sector would end up merging with the growing ones, adding Nigeria could not build a strong downstream without technological innovations and designs.

“That technological innovation is what Enyo has brought into the industry.

“We see existing downstream stations already slipping into being too comfortable and forgetting to come up with new ideas.

“We are not here to just sell petroleum products to our customers, we also want customers’ satisfaction,” Awobokun said.

He explained that Folawiyo Energy was a major partner in the company, alongside a foreign investor.

“Technological driven innovations are already driving profoundly positive changes in almost all facets of our lives,’’ he said.

Awobokun explained that Enyo’s service innovations was the first to offer customers what he termed loyalty scheme, being an opportunity to reward its loyal buyers.

“We want to use innovations and modern designs to our advantage, to grow business in the downstream sector.

“Enyo doesn’t want to get involved in the business of importing products. We buy from those that import and then sell,” he said.

Awobokun listed some of the challenges in the downstream sector which investors and government should look at as negative stigma, supply shortage, customers distrust, congestion and poor road facilities.

Nigerian comedian Seyi Law, has revealed in a new interview that after his divorce prank, he received over 50 messages from ladies.

According to the comedian, the ladies didn’t wait for loose ends to be tied before trying to start off a romantic relationship with him.

He had earlier written

“Due to irreconcilable differences would have been enough to announce this, but the kind and beautiful heart of my ex-wife must be stated. She is one of the best women I have ever known. It is however sad, that I announce that my wife and I have decided to part ways for good. We will appreciate your love and support at this time. God bless you. Tiwaloluwa is safe and good.”

In an interview with punchng.com, Seyi Law said the he was on the plane when the inspiration to play the divorce prank came to him.

“I thank God for a good and understanding wife; I didn’t take permission from her before playing that prank. When she saw it, she couldn’t reach me because I was still on the plane. People had been calling her repeatedly. Also, when I landed, my phone rang repeatedly. I called her to explain things to her immediately we saw each other.

“She said I should have carried her along because she didn’t know what to tell people when they called her. My wife is my number one critic; that is the beautiful thing about my marriage,” he said.

Then the ladies rushed in:

“I had over 80,000 hits on my Instagram page that day; my followers grew by over 3,000 within 24 hours. I had over 50 ladies hitting on me with direct messages; that’s to tell you how mad the world can be. I don’t want to talk about what the ladies were saying for now,” he said.

The federal government has denied viral reports that abducted Dapchi school girl, Leah Sharibu, has died in captivity.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, at a press briefing in Ilorin, Kwara State, has the reports as absolute fake news.

He said the rumour of Sharibu’s death, which surfaced just a few days to the presidential election, is another ploy by the political opposition to tarnish the image of the administration and exploit primordial sentiments ahead of the polls. He said;

“I think it’s part of the opposition’s strategies to throw everything at the administration and at the President. I think everyday they are realizing the hopelessness of their position.

“Everyday they are amazed by the support Mr. President is receiving from every part of the country and they have decided that they are going to spread falsehood, inflame passion and make this election a Muslim-Christian affair or North-South affair, but people are not
listening to them,”

Leah was abducted alongside her classmates in Dapchi in February 2018. In March of the same year, the sect members released her colleagues but failed to release her because she refused to convert to the Islamic faith. She has been in Boko Haram custody since then.

A lady identified as, Edith Ewulu, has been arrested by the police while dedicating a stolen 5-year-old girl, Felicia Godwin, in Emene, Enugu State.


According to Premium Times, the 56-year-old woman was arrested by operatives of the Enugu State Police Command in a new generation church, during a thanksgiving and dedication service for the kidnapped child whom she had renamed Gift Ewulu.

A statement by Police Public Relations Officer Ebere Amaraizu, revealed that the kidnapping suspect, who hails from Enugu Agidi in Anambra State, was allegedly found with little Miss Felicia Godwin, who was reportedly snatched from where she was playing at a Emene compound on February the 6th.

The suspect, Amaraizu said, revealed she bought the little girl from one Chioma who claimed to be running a social home in Aba, Abia State, for N470,000.

“According to the suspect, she bought the baby on February 7, 2019 from the seller at a renowned hospital in Umuahia, which convinced her that the business as genuine,” Amaraizu said.
