There some foods that are known to expedite Ageing and poor health conditions which you could easily avoid. Here’s what you can keep off of your diet if you want to be youthful and fit for as long as possible. 1. Sugar Back away from chocolates, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and that sugary food stuff that you can’t live without. Almost all nutrition experts swear by the fact that sugar causes aging. Sugar gets attached to the proteins in your bloodstream and forms advanced glycation end products (AGEs). With the accumulation of AGEs, the surrounding proteins also get damaged in a chain-like manner. So the protein fibers that keep your skin tight and elastic also get affected, which in turn results in wrinkles and sagging skin. If the need for a smaller waistline hasn’t kept you away from sugar till date, maybe the love for healthy skin will. 2. Caffeine Bad news for all coffee lovers! Yes, perhaps for a lot of people, the morning doesn’t start without their daily dose of caffeine. But turns out, for that little zing, you shouldn’t be drinking coffee in excess. As coffee is diuretic, it dehydrates the body and raises the stress hormone cortisol (hormone linked with accelerated skin aging). Also, it dries out skin. All the coffee worshipers should cut down, if not completely give up on their daily dose of coffee. 3. Alcohol An occasional glass of beer or vodka shot won’t affect your skin really! But binge alcohol consumption is definitely going to ravage your youthful skin. Not just that, alcohol will cause premature aging of brain, loss of collagen, puffiness, premature wrinkles, and loss of elasticity. Alcohol consumption basically dehydrates your body, leaving behind a chain of free radicals, which cause vasodilatation condition responsible for skin disorders like rosacea. It is primarily the amount of alcohol you consume that is going to determine the health of your skin. 4. Chips & Salty Food Not just sugar, you should also cut down on the salt intake as it is equally bad for your health. You might not add salt to your food, but you still can’t be sure about not consuming salt as most of the canned foods already come with preserved salt. Excess of salt causes the skin to dehydrate completely, thereby drying out the skin and making it appear puffy. It is best to check the labels when buying canned food, to make sure you aren’t getting too much salt in your diet. 5. Burgers & Fries While junk food won’t age you overnight, continuous indulgence in such diet can surely speed up aging. Though some fat is required per day i.e. about 75 grams, but excess can result in clogged blood vessels. Burgers and fries can cause sticky artery walls and this stops the oxygenated blood from reaching all the important body organs. No oxygen means damaged skin cells, and they won’t repair on their own. Also, junk food can cause bodily inflammation and release of free radicals. 6. Soda All those addicted to sugar rush of soda and other sugary beverages are not just putting their health at risk (condition like type 2 diabetes), but also causing their skin to dry out and become flaky. Again, soda contains excessive sugar content that can result in glaciation (as discussed in point 1). This in turn causes inflammation in the body and many chronic diseases like diabetes and dementia. Even diet pop is bad for your skin. Artificial sweeteners must be avoided as they contain chemicals and artificial colors; they can make your skin appear thinner. 7. Spicy Food Spicy food and peppers are extremely good for metabolism, but they can also aggravate acne-prone skin, particularly during menopause. As the blood vessels in your body are most active during that phase, spicy food dilutes them and that is why your skin appears less youthful at that time. However, you should not worry that much about indulging in spicy curry once in a while as only over- indulgence is going to result in permanent redness and puffy skin. 8. White Breads And Pastas Simple carbs such as pastas and white breads are known to have hypoglycemic index which is associated with premature aging. These compounds inflame the skin and raise insulin production. These carbs break down speedily and result in premature aging of skin. They put you at the risk of type 2 diabetes, acne, and even skin inflammation. Alternatively, brown breads and brown rice do not break down easily, and that is why one can skin the aging process. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have surfaced at the Lagos State Collation Centre for the Presidential Election, situated at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters office, Yaba. The 10 officials entered INEC premises before 10:00pm on Saturday night and sat under the canopy erected for the collation of Presidential results across the 20 local government areas of the state. The operatives, who were wearing their aprons with EFCC inscriptions sat quietly awaiting the commencement of the final collation exercise in the state. The operatives were seated and fully at alert at the collation centre. Their mission was not clear. Speaking to NAN, a staff of the commission, who preferred anonymity, said that in his many years of service in the commission, the operatives of EFCC had never participated in elections’ result collation. Another official of the commission, who would not want his name mentioned in print suggested that the operatives were on ground to tackle the menace of vote selling and buying. Meanwhile, collations of the Presidential and National Assembly elections are ongoing in many centres and no results from any local government areas of the state has reached the final state collation centre in INEC office. However, the venue was scanty as at 12:00 midnight with some journalists and many security agents going in and out of the premises. The final collation for the Presidential elections in the state may be delayed till Sunday morning. Many Registration Area Collation Officers in the Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency collation centre situated at St. Agnes Primary School, Birrel in Yaba, next fence to INEC office, were still busy with the exercise. Lionel Messi warned Barcelona that La Liga’s title race is not yet over after his 50th career hat-trick inspired a 4-2 win at Sevilla. The Catalans twice fell behind at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan thanks to goals from Jesus Navas and Gabriel Mercado, but Messi put them 3-2 ahead before setting up Luis Suarez for a late fourth. It was the 44th time Messi has scored three goals in a game for Barca and the 50th overall, while the result moved Ernesto Valverde’s side 10 points clear at the top of the table, having played a game more than second-place Atletico Madrid. However, the Argentina star does not believe Atleti or Real Madrid can be considered out of contention for the title. “No, because there is a long way to go,” he told beIN SPORTS. “But it was really important to win because of what it means to win here and to keep our distance ahead of our rivals. “Now more than ever, you have to use your head. Every time, it becomes more difficult to win, so we go away happy. “We know what this ground is and what players they have. It was a difficult match for us but we were able to move forward. “You can’t always play at a great level. We’ve gone through a run in which we didn’t play our best football. When the game flows, things come by themselves. We played great football and the goals came.” Gist via :- https://nairatrend.com.ng/la-liga-race-not-over-yet-messi-speaks-after-scoring-3-goals/ Cc ;Lalasticlala, mynd44, Dominique

Bellow are tips to protect your skin from the sun's damaging ultraviolet rays and reduce your risk of getting skin cancer: 1) Seek shade when appropriate, remembering that the sun’s rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. If your shadow is shorter than you are, seek shade. 2) Wear protective clothing, such as a lightweight long-sleeved shirt, pants, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, when possible. 3) Use extra caution near water, snow and sand, as they reflect the damaging rays of the sun, which can increase your chance of sunburn. 4) Avoid tanning beds. Ultraviolet light from tanning beds can cause skin cancer and premature skin aging. 5) Consider using a self-tanning product if you want to look tan, but continue to use sunscreen with it. 6) Perform regular skin self-examsto detect skin cancer early, when it’s most treatable, and see a board-certified dermatologist if you notice new or suspicious spots on your skin, or anything changing, itching or bleeding. Pandemonium ensued at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) in Calabar, the Cross River State capital as thousands of serving and ex-National Youths Service Corps members and students who were shortlisted as ad-hoc for the postponed Presidential and National Assembly elections protested the removal of their names. Thousands of people who were initially shortlisted as INEC ad-hoc staff have been told to go home as their services were no longer required for the rescheduled elections without any reason. Names of new people who didn’t participate in the INEC training for Presiding Officers were allegedly inserted to replace the protesting corps members and students. A victim who gave his name as Gabriel Offor said, unlike last week where INEC published names of the ad-hoc staff on Thursday ahead of movement on Friday, names of the shortlisted people to conduct the February 23rd elections were published this morning, (Friday). “Hundreds of people who were shortlisted previously stormed the INEC office, located along the Murtala Mohammed Highway, opposite Pyramid to verify their names only to find out that they have been replaced with different people,” he said. The protest which was turning violent saw police using teargas to disperse the protesters started when the shortlisted ad-hoc staff were asked to board the buses provided by INEC to convey them to their respective places of assignments. The protesters who had gathered at the headquarters since morning hoping that their names would be published blocked the vehicles and entrance to the Commission’s office vowing that they won’t leave until their names are shortlisted or compensated for the stress they passed through last weekend. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo said that the protesters were those INEC did not engage and they attempted to disrupt activities at the INEC headquarters. She denied that Police shot or teargas anybody, insisting that only minimal force was used to stop the people from disrupting work at INEC. “There was no shooting and no teargassing of anybody. These are people INEC has not engaged and they refused to leave the premises,” she said. Jussie Smollett has been suspended from the hit show “Empire” after the actor was accused of paying two men to attack him last month . Police say the attack was a ploy to raise his profile because he was unhappy with his salary. “The events of the past few weeks have been incredibly emotional for all of us,” said a statement from 20th Century Fox Television attributed to the show’s executive producers. “Jussie has been an important member of our ‘Empire’ family for the past five years and we care about him deeply. While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays out. We are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show and to avoid further disruption on set, we have decided to remove the role of Jamal from the final two episodes of the season,” they said, referring to his character, Jamal Lyon, the scion of a recording-industry family. The suspension suggests that scenes in which he’s already appeared will be removed from the finished episode. Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has dismissed claims he has been approached by Roma. Reports yesterday suggested Roma have made contact with Sarri and his representatives over a move to bring him back to Serie A to replace current Giallorossi boss Eusebio Di Francesco. Sarri told BT Sport, when quizzed on the reported meeting, after Chelsea’s Europa League victory over Malmo: “No, I have a contract with Chelsea for the next two seasons so it is impossible to have another contract. “I read in an Italian newspaper something about a meeting with Franco Baldini but I think for the moment Franco is in South Africa so it is very difficult.” Italian newspaper, La Repubblica had reported that this week that Baldini, a personal adviser to Roma owner, James Pallotta, met with Sarri in London. Notwithstanding, Sarri has been under increasing pressure at Stamford Bridge following a record Premier League defeat to Manchester City and FA Cup elimination at the hands of Manchester United. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has described as absurd, the lies, propaganda and accusations against President Muhammadu Buhari. Osinbajo said on Wednesday night while responding to questions at an Interactive Session and Engagement held at Muson Centre, Lagos on Wednesday night. The interactive session tagged: “Unveiling The Truth”, organised by young Christian group, had some Christian leaders in attendance. Participants used the occasion to ask plenty of questions bothering on insecurity, economy, blaming of past administrations, social welfare for the unemployed, corruption, and timing of TraderMoni. Other questions bothered on Next Level slogan, farmer/herders crisis, lopsided federal appointments, Islamisation, Buhari’s commitment to address critical issues in the country among others. Responding, Osinbajo said that President Buhari was committed to addressing the problems facing the country such as security, economic and fixing critical infrastructure and fair treatment of all sections. He said Buhari was addressing farmer/herders crises and had no intention at all to Islamise the country. “President Muhammadu is possibly one of the most committed people I have ever met. He is committed to seeing that resources of this country are used for this country. “In general term, we find that there is fairness in the distribution of appointments. Many of the accusations against Buhari are not true. “Sometimes, people listen to propaganda and if we look at the facts, things are totally different. On Islamisation, first of all, it is untrue, it is propaganda. “Anybody who complains that President Buhari is propagating islamic agenda, how is that possible? “A lot of these are just propaganda, never listen to these. Many of these are absurd, they are deliberate propaganda. They come from the same source. Don’t believe them. Let’s be fair,” Osinbajo said. The vice president, who urged Nigerians not to fear or doubt the good intention of the President, advised Nigerians to stop spreading rumours about things that never happened. Osinbajo noted that the major cause of farmer/herder crisis remained pasture and water which the government had made concerted efforts to address. On the lopsided federal appointments, Osinbajo said that the Southeast with five states had five had five ministers more than some regions with higher number of states. On TraderMoni, he said that the national assembly approved the money for it and that it was meant to lift many Nigerians out of poverty. On the timing of implementation, Osinbajo said that the government Social Investment Programme kicked off after the budgetary allocation was passed by the National Assembly. According to him, the party never promised N5,000 monthly stipends for the unemployed but for the vulnerable which is ongoing. He said the government had engaged so many youths in its N-Power programme and had to increase the number to 1.5 million young Nigerian in the Next Level out of 1.7 million people churn out of tertiary institutions every year. On the standard of tertiary education, Osinbajo said that the major issue affecting education was not so much with the curriculum, advocating private sector thinking, ideas to enhance public education. He added that the government would continue to create enabling environment and provide funding. On criminality, the vice president said that the way forward was local policing and intelligence as well as immediate arrest and prosecution of criminals in the country. On security, he said that the country had made significant progress and moved forward from what the situation was before the 2015 general elections. The vice president said that the APC Next Level slogan centred on job creation, power, making credit more available to entrepreneurs, agriculture, infrastructure and others. The vice president urged Christian leaders to jettison thinking about any Islamic agenda and Islamisation, saying many Christians were in the cabinet of President Buhari. He said that the media should desist from spreading rumours, decrying fake news about Buhari being another person from Sudan. Addressing the question accusation that the present administration often blamed previous administration, Osinbajo said that the country could not move forward without considering the past. According to him, corruption remains the bane of national growth and development, saying that most of the woes confronting people are caused by wastefulness of past governments. The highlight of the interaction were high praise led by choir and power-packed prayer for the country and general elections led by Bishop Wale Oke. The participants prayed for God’s mercies on the country and God’s protection on the vice president especially from the recent air crash. The Minister of State ,Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, yesterday said the federal government interventions in Arik Air and Aero Contractors airlines saved the Nigeria aviation sector from witnessing what would have been huge job loses. According to him, the two airlines would have since stopped operations and consequently throw hundreds of Nigerians into the already congested labour market. Powerful cabal in the Presidency was said to have decided to take advantage of President Muhammadu Buhari’s absence to hatch the plot as efforts to sell the idea of “take-over of ARIK” Sirika made this assertion while highlighting some of the high points in the aviation sector in the last three and half years of this administration. He also said that the construction and commissioning of new terminals, acquisition of navigational aids and the recent payment of gratuities and pensions of the former national carrier, Nigeria Airways staff remained unprecedented in the annals of the aviation industry . He said : “ Intervention to rescue Arik Air and Aero Contractors from total collapse is another milestone, which would have led to the demise of the two airlines and cause huge loss of jobs by professionals in the sector. The two airlines are today still in operation, under receivership”. Recall the federal government , through Asset Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, took over the management and daily running of the two airlines and appointed new management for them few years ago. The airlines are still under receivership and managed by AMCON. On the recent payment of gratuities and pensions of the former national carrier, Nigeria Airways staff, he said: “ Just last December, this government through the approval of President Buhari paid 50 per cent of severance and retirement benefits to 5,966 staff of the former national carrier, Nigeria Airways. The beneficiaries even held a ‘thank you’ rally to appreciate President Buhari for walking the talk”. “ You will recall that the airline was liquidated in 2003 and since its liquidation, several ministers and governments in this country refused to pay them their severance packages, which I think was bad for the system. You don’t treat your citizens bad and expect the younger ones to put in their best into the system, but the federal government ensured that they were paid part of their benefits. I can however assure you that the remaining balance would be paid as promised ,”he added. The minister also said the sector recorded an average growth of 33 per cent on domestic operations and 13.5 per cent on international operations between January, 2017 to June, 2018. This he said is “also unprecedented in this country”. “Also, we provided the enabling environment for domestic airlines in the country to attain certification in the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). Currently five Nigerian domestic airlines have Certification, while we also designated some of them for international operations,” Sirika said.
