LiveByNight:My brother, tell them. This so-called 'big' fight is staged. The organizers knows what the outcome of the fight will be even before announcing it to the public. Na business dem dey. AJ will win just to maintain his unbeaten record. At the end, both AJ and Ruiz (including the organizers) will go home with millions of dollars and everybody is happy. |

Take my clothes off, freshen up, eat, check my phone for any notification, rest a little bit and then stroll out. |
Please gurus, I want to know if I stand a chance to be successful in the web development world focusing only on front-end development. I'm good at HTML & CSS. Presently, I'm learning Javascript (I'm at the intermediate level) and the deeper I go, the more I love how I can control the design of a website. With the little research I did on Google, it seems like front-end development as career in abroad is lucrative. Don't know if naija here is the same. Experienced gurus should enlighten me the more. I'll deeply appreciate. |

The cost of running a blog varies. It depends on the functionalities you want. But these are the basic costs: Domain name: $10 or below Web Hosting: $30/yr or above Blog Theme: $15 or above. The theme I use(almost a replica of eleven40 pro genesis theme) at my blog http://becometechie.com was built by myself so I did'nt spend a dime on blog theme. If you have the skill, you can build one yourself. Note: the above dollar currency are for when dealing with foreign web companies. You can decide to go local But I prefer foreign. |
Gone are those days when owning a computer is a luxury. Nowadays, it seems that every person owns one. With the advancement in technology, computers have become a necessity and thus, the number of computer owners is on the increase. However, there is one incredible feature in this machine and it looks like some of us have not noticed. Those of us who have never bothered to know the reason behind it. I’m talking about the hard drive. If you check your computer’s default hard drive, you’ll notice that it’s named “C”. Have you ever wondered the reason behind it? Why not ‘A’ or ‘B’? Here’s the answer: Prior to the invention of hard disk drives, floppy disks were used as storage devices which came into existence in the 1960’s. Floppy disks had two sizes 5 1/4″ and 3 1/2″. Those floppy disks were called Local Disk (A) and Local Disk (B). Floppy disk of size 8 inch was produced after the invention of hard disk drives. At present, floppy disk drive has replaced floppy disks. This is the reason behind the labeling of default hard derive as ‘C’. Drives other than default drive (C) are named D, E etc. DVD drive and USB drive are labelled as F, G etc. With administrative privileges, you can change the default drive (C) to A or B. http://becometechie.com/c-default-hard-drive-computer/

In a programmers world, automation seems to be the quickest and easiest way to get huge works done especially when busy with other activities. It helps avoid the stress of doing repetitive tasks. That was exactly the case of one programmer, a Reddit user known as FiletOfFish1066, who worked for a well-known tech company in the software Quality Assurance department. For 6 years, he was paid on average $95,000 per year for basically doing nothing except playing games, browse Reddit, surfing, etc. This may come as a surprise to you (likewise myself) but his story seems to be true. The question is, how was this possible? Here’s the answer: Being a programmer, FiletOfFish1066, for about 8 months automated all of his programming tasks. This allows him to literally sit back, do whatever he felt like doing and the computer gets his job done for him. “From around 6 years ago up until now, I have done nothing at work. I am not joking. For 40 hours each week I go to work, play League of Legends in my office, browse Reddit, and do whatever I feel like”, said FOF1066. “In the past 6 years I have maybe done 50 hours of real work. So basically nothing. And nobody really cared. The tests were all running successfully. I shit you not, I had no friends or anything at work either, so nobody ever talked to me except my boss and occasionally the devs for the software I was testing.” Smart dude! You may say but do read the bad news at the end of it. FOF1066 was fired after his company found out that he had been automating his job for the last 6 years. The worst part of it is that, FOF1066 whiled away his time so much to the extent that he forgot how to code. He could not remember how he built his Autobot and he got no marketable skills to land another lucrative programmers job. He said: “After six years, I literally do not even know how to write good software anymore. I basically forgot everything. I just played League of Legends and did nothing else. I got fit, though, which is a plus, since I went to the gym every day during work. But I know nothing about programming or anything else. I am 28, without a job (although they are giving me three months of pay), and no skills. “ FOF1066 has been jobless for some time now, but he expressed his determination to get his life back together. This was what he said: “Time to try and cut my League of Legends and beer addiction. I’m going to try and practice running through Cracking the Coding Interview as well as a data structures and algorithms book. I’ll also be applying to some jobs. After thinking about it for a while I think once I study everything I forgot, my motivation will come back. I always liked software dev, I just was a lazy ass.” From his ordeal, one good takeaway was that he managed to save up to $200,000. “I have around $200k in my bank account since I still live with my parents and live frugally”, he said. “so I won’t be starving or anything like that, and can definitely support myself.” Presently, it looks like FiletOfFish1066 have deleted his Reddit account but his story is a huge lesson or all of us. http://becometechie.com/programmer-fired-automating-job-6-years-forgets-coding/

No doubt, football is the most popular sport in the word. The fun and excitement it brings is so fascinating. To most people, it serves a center of happiness when in bad mood. According to arsene wenger, football is a game of passion, it doesn't matter whether you lose or win; you play for the joy of the game. He's right because that's what drive most footballers today making them to try to improve in each match. I love football so much and with the little experience, i think it'll good to state the types of footballers especially their behavior on the pitch. This list is based on my observation, you can add yours. Here we go: 1. THE GENTLEMAN : This footballer doesn't fight. He always play cool. Even if his opponent is aggressive, he still maintains his 'gentlemanism'. You hardly see the referee blow a foul against him, talk more of booking. E.g messi, hazard, ronaldinho, ineista etc. 2. THE COMPLAINER: Before the final whistle, the referee will get more than a dozen of complains from this footballer. He complains to the extent of being booked by the referee. 3. THE DIVER: I also call this one the deciever. He pretends to be fouled by his opponent expecting a freekick or penalty to be awarded to him. He's sometimes booked by a sensible and observant referee. 4. THE INJURY PLAYER: This type of player will get injured almost every match. No season goes by without him getting injured 3 - 4 times. I don't know if they have internal sickness or they think they're playing with kids. 5. THE 'DON'T MISS THE LEG' FOOTBALLER: This one is mostly a defender. You don't think of dribbling him, if not, you're indirectly telling him to give you 6 month injury. Even if you succeed in dribbling the ball past him, you will not pass. Although some footballers have successfully dribbled him but the chances are slim. He has gotten like 15 red cards in his career and he no even send. 6. THE FIGHTER: This one is lion in human skin. If you mistakenly foul him, expect a punch, bite or headbutt. He's ready to fight at any time. He goes as far as fighting for his fouled team mates as he's the one involved. E.g suares, arturo vidal, diego costa, pepe etc 7. THE STRONG FOOTBALLER: Even if the match is played for 3 hours, this one no dey tire. He runs round the pitch for like hundred times but still got enough strength left in him. I don't know if he takes drug or what. He's always fit. Feel free to add yours. source: me. |

This is a true life experience that happened to my friend who recently secured a job in one of the reputable companies in Nigeria. He's a graduate of mechanical engineering; he studied at FUTO. I was with him last week and he told me how he got the job - it was like a miracle or should i say a blessing from God. I was happy for him and i decided to share the experience with my fellow nlanders. It may be a lesson to us all. I'm going to narrate the whole experience in his own words (i'm nt a good writer...plz pardon any error). Here it goes: It was a beautiful tuesday: the day of my interview. I woke up early around 5am to get prepared. The interview was scheduled to hold by 11am, so i had enough time to prepare myself physically, mentally and spiritually...lol. I brushed my teeth, took my bath and prepared my breakfast. After eating, i immediately dressed up in my finest suit. My intention was not only to look presentable to my interviewer but also to look attractive to the female folks around my area. You can call me 'woman wrapper' but one thing is: i don't care. By 7am, i was set to go. I initially wanted to board a taxi but checking the time, it would be a waste of money because i would still be on time even if i trek, besides the company is not too far from where i reside. Although my neighborhood is quite dangerous to be walking alone but that doesn't scare me. I've walked for like 20 minutes when i sighted from afar a lexus jeep parked alongside the road. As i drew closer, i noticed a man standing beside it looking confused and worried. The man was also soliloquizing angrily. My instinct told me that maybe the man's jeep has broken and i was right. Seeing how worried the man was, i felt pity for him and decided to see if i can help. I approached the and inquired what was wrong with the jeep and he told me the problem. The problem was not a difficult one to me maybe being a mechanical engineer. Fortunately, the man has some tools, so i went to work but doing so carefully to avoid stains on my dress. After like 30 minutes, the jeep was back to normal. The man gave a sigh of relief and was very happy. He gave me some money as an appreciation. Although i needed the money but i refused telling him i did it out of goodwill. He insisted but i still refused. He thanked me very much and zoomed off. At this time, it was already 8am. I just walked directly to the company for my interview. To cut long story short, i was called to the office for the interview. I was about to greet my interviewer but was shocked when i saw him. Guess who? The same man i earlier help to repair his jeep. The man was suprised to see me. He was happy and thanked me again. I ended up not being interviewed and was given the job. "just like that?" i thought to myself. I was suprised and happy. It's been two months now and i'm enjoying my work and the company. THE END. So my people that's it. Hope we learnt something from this experience. Drop your thoughts. |
True or false?

felixchip:hmmm. Interesting. Lots of work is in involved here. |
Sometimes I wonder how they do it. Starting from the car explosion and stunt, buildings collapsing, air strikes and the actor flying from one skycrapper to another (especially in spider man). Everything looks so real. Please video editors in the house I hope you don't mind explaining how all these things are done. I'm fascinated by these tricks and I'll be happy for your contribution. Cheers! |
See this fine girl in the military. Chai! E no fit am at all |

Hi web developers, I really want to go to web development (i jst finished learning html, css) but I'm confused about the programming language to start with. After some research (using google), I decided to start with php. I told my friend (who's a web developer for abt 3 yrs) about it, he encouraged me to learn python first, that it's better than php. But my research from google shows php is the most widely used language. My friend said he can't lie to me, infacts he will guide me en route the road of web development (and i trust him) and that's where my problem/confusion lies. I don't know which on to choose b/w both. Which one do you think it's better? Your replies are appreciated. |
vickyO:really? |
RichDad1:u must be well doing, right? |
Forgive me if it isn't the right section for this thread. In this life, we all have something we fear; It doesn't matter how strong we are (whether you're iron man or super man). What's it that always makes you tremble whenever you encounter or remember it? To me, it's DEATH. What's yours? |
cr7lomo:same with messi, 1 hat trick left. But who'll be the 1st to get it? |
Tonight Messi had his 250th goal in the la liga after Barca beat Elbar 3 - 0 nearing Telmo Zaragoza's 251th la liga goals. Just 1 goal left for him. Maybe he'll acheive that on 25th oct, 2014 when barca will meet real madrid for the highly anticipated El classico. |
Messi is the god of soccer. "watching messi is like having an ORGASM". |
Sometimes a child can be annoying - always crying. Recently, I visited my uncle and his wife and they have a child (about a year and 8 months old). I love the child so much but what really annoys me is that the child is always crying. He's eating, cry. He's taking his bath, cry. He's lying down, cry. Sleeping is crying. My uncle even took him to the hospital for checkup but the doctor said he's medically okay. Is this behavior natural or is it something else? Cos my uncle and his wife are tired of it. For parents, did your child behaved like this? If so, how did you dealt with the situation? Your meaningful comments are appreciated.. |
