A 63-year-old ex-boyfriend in West Bromwich, UK, has been convicted of killing the 26-year-old mother of his three kids by strangling her to death after he discovered she had started a relationship with another man.

Leroy Sterling was reportedly consumed with jealousy upon discovering that his ex-girlfriend, Wendy Mann, had met a new man, 53-year-old Trevor Tyndale. The two had separated in 2014.

Leroy had also reportedly tried to destroy all evidence that could ave implicated him by thoroughly cleaning Wendy's apartment, but his footprints left at the scene gave him away to the police.

Wendy's parents contacted the police when she did not return their calls and messages. the police then found her dead in her apartment.

During the court hearing, it also emerged that Leroy had attempted to kill Trevor after he invited him to his house, but Trevor fought him off and escaped.

Leroy has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Wendy and the attempted murder of Trevor.

Luke Jones, 33, flew into a rage after Natasha Bradbury, 27, confessed to sleeping with another man - and beat her to death with 53 different injuries at her home.

A court heard the couple had an "on-off" relationship which Jones was desperate to keep going.

But she tried to get away from hime - and went to stay with a friend on the night before the killing where she had the one-night stand.

He called mum-of-one Natasha 26 times and sent her a string of messages demanding to know where she was when she went on a night out.

In one message he said: "You've lost interest in me you must be interested in someone else."

And she finally replied to him saying: "Look, I'm sorry. I slept with someone last night."

Swansea Crown Court heard welder Jones attacked Natasha in her flat in Haverfordwest, Pembridgeshire, when she returned home.

Prosecutor Paul Lewis said: "He effectively beat Miss Bradbury to death in her own home".

A jury was told Jones sent a string of WhatsApp messages to Miss Bradbury in the hours before her death.

Mr Lewis said: "These messages illustrate a man feeling jealous and possessive and willing to put emotional pressure on Miss Bradbury to keep their relationship going.

"We say that at times he expresses love, at others distress."

Jones denied murder and told the jury that Natasha attacked him and he was acting in self defence

The jury heard Jones beat Miss Bradbury to death in a "savage attack" before calling 999 the next morning to request an ambulance.

She was left with 53 different injuries including cracked ribs, and damage to her neck, brain, heart and liver.

Mr Lewis said: "In the course of the attack, he inflicted widespread and fatal injuries that included extensive blunt-force trauma to her head and chest. He caused her fractures to her ribs and broke a bone in her neck.

"In principle, he beat Miss Bradbury to her death.

"The motive for his violence? It appears to have been jealousy and his possessiveness of her."

Luke Jones will receive a minimum of 17 years imprisonment
Jones, of Milford Haven, denied murder and told the jury that Natasha attacked him and he was acting in self defence.

"I didn't mean to kill her," he said.

But he was found guilty by unanimous verdict after a two-week trial.

Sentencing him to life, with a minimum 17-year term, Judge Keith Thomas said Jones had carried out a "brutal, sustained and severe attack".

Speaking after the hearing, Miss Bradbury's family said they were "heartbroken" by her death and her nine-year-old son had had his childhood ruined.

Boyfriend stabs NDDC lover to death for refusing to make him ‘next-of-kin’ to her account

PORT HARCOURT— Boyfriend to a female staff of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Miss Sophia Phillips Horsefall, and two others were, yesterday, arraigned at a Port Harcourt magistrate’s court by Department of State Services, DSS, for stabbing her to death after she had refused to make him, the boyfriend, her next-of-kin to her bank account as well as her refusal to give him one million (N1 million) he had demanded from her.

The accused, Sotonye Martin, Innocent Oluche and Wachukwu Ugochukwu committed the murder on November 8 this year.

Counsel to the DSS, Mr C. S. Eze, told the court that the first defendant, Mr. Sotonye Martin, lured the deceased, who he had a 13-year-old daughter for, to the house of the second defendant, Innocent Oluche, where he allegedly stabbed her to death.

He claimed the first and second defendants later buried the deceased in a shallow grave, noting that they invited the third defendant, Wachukwu Ugochukwu, a spiritualist, to perform some rituals.

According to him, the accused were brought before the court on a three-count charge which included “stabbing to death with a jack knife and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law, Laws of Rivers State 1999.”

The accused did not take plea.

Chief Magistrate F. Alikor referred the casefile to the state Director of Public Prosecution, saying her court did not have jurisdiction to entertain matters over murder which was the second charge. She remanded the accused in prison custody and adjourned the matter indefinitely.

Elder brother to the deceased, Mr Amatu Phillips, while speaking to newsmen, alleged that his sister was murdered by the boyfriend of 13 years, Mr. Martin because of her wealth.

He claimed she had some money in her account and confided in the boyfriend who later kept on pestering her for financial support.

According to him, after the sister had allegedly given him money several times, he came again demanding for N1 million which she refused.

He alleged that the boyfriend later lured her to his friend’s house, offered her a fruit juice drink which, unknown to the sister, was drugged.

He alleged that when the boyfriend noticed that she was dizzy from effect of the drug, he stabbed her on the neck, demanding her ATM card and password.

He claimed the boyfriend had before that day persuaded his sister to change the name of her next of kin on her bank details to his name.

Married man arrested for beating lover to death for cheating

The police in Lagos State have arrested a 45-year-old married man with five children for allegedly beating his secret lover to death after suspecting she was still seeing her ex-boyfriend.

The suspect, Victor Umeh, a trader at the Ladipo Market in Mushin area of the state, was arrested by police operatives attached to the Ago Division in Okota after he allegedly killed the lover identified as Happiness, at his house located at in his house on Saturday, July 29, 2017.

Daily Sun reports that Umeh had brutally beaten the deceased before she died in his house and in the process of carrying her corpse away, his neighbours saw him and alerted the police at Ago Division.

It was learned that Umeh who hails from Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State had hosted a birthday party for the deceased said to be from Plateau State at a hotel on Ago-Palace Way, on the night of the incident.

While the party was going on, Umeh saw the victim conversing with her former boyfriend and he left in anger but after the party, Happiness was said to have returned to Umeh’s home since his wife and children are in his village.

It was when Happiness got to the house that a quarrel ensued between them leading to the fatal fight.

A neighbour who said he heard the commotion in the night, said:

“We heard them quarreling, but we thought it was a normal verbal war until we did not hear Happiness’ voice again. We decided to find out what was happening, only to meet the lifeless body of Happiness.

When Victor saw us, he tried to escape, but we held him and quickly alerted the police from Ago-Okota Division who came to the scene and arrested him.”

Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the Divisional Police Officer [DPO], Ago-Okota Police Station, Yusuf Abdul, said:

“On Saturday, July 29, 2017, around 12 midnight, one Osuh came and reported that they heard loud screaming coming from his neighbour’s apartment.

He said when he came out to find out what was going on, in company with others, they saw the lifeless body of Happiness whose address and surname are unknown.

We arrested one Victor, whom the deceased visited, as he was trying to escape. In a bid to frustrate investigation, the suspect hid the deceased’s phone on top of a fence after inserting it into a packet of cigarettes that contained Indian hemp.

During interrogation, the suspect told us that they went to a club along Ago-Palace Way to celebrate the deceased’s birthday but when they got there, the deceased started talking with her ex-boyfriend and he left in anger for his house.

Shortly after he got home, the deceased came to meet him and they had a fight that led to her death.”

However, the suspect who spoke to journalists denied killing his girlfriend, saying he only met her lifeless body outside his house.

“I did not kill her. Someone else did because I met her lifeless body outside my house,” he said.

While the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Isolo General Hospital, Umeh has been transferred to the State Criminal and Intelligent Department [SCIID], Panti, Yaba, for further investigation after which he will be charged to court.

The man simply identified as Njonge from Darsalaam Tanzania reportedly murdered the young girl in a gruesome manner after having sex with her he cut open her stomach and the pulled out her intestines.

According to reports, Njonge had suspected his girlfriend of infidelity and even without catching her in the act, invited her to his house where he murdered her by slitting her throat and stabbing her severally in the chest and stomach.

Jealous lover kills cheating girlfriend, boyfriend with petrol bomb
A 51-year-old businessman, Ayobami Oyedutan, and his girlfriend have been killed with petrol bomb by enraged ex-lover of the woman in Ijaye area of Lagos State, reports the News Agency of Nigeria.

Eyewitnesses told NAN that the incident happened on Sunday at the woman’s beer parlour located at Americana Street, Jankara, Agbado-Ijaiye, Lagos State.

The woman died on the spot, while Oyedutan died on Monday at Gbagada General Hospital following severe burns inflicted on them by the suspected arsonist.

Sources told NAN that the alleged arsonist, who is now at large, was ex-lover to the late beer parlour owner simply identified as “Mama-Corner.”

Sources say the suspect, simply identified as “Old Soldier,” sprayed the lovers with petrol and set both alight while they were eating pepper soup and cold drinks inside the beer parlour.

“Mama-Corner’s ex-lover, Old Soldier, who was not happy over her alleged unfaithfulness, reportedly became angry and went to the beer parlour, where he allegedly sprayed her and Oyedutan with petrol, lighting them up.


“The man who lit the fire also got his clothes burnt as he fled. The woman died in the beer parlour, the lover man died on Monday at Gbagada General Hospital,” the source said.

Witnesses said the victims were trapped on the plastic chairs, which also helped the fire before neighbours put it off.

NAN further gathered that the deceased man was buried on Tuesday at his house in Ajasa Village, Command area of Ipaja, Lagos.

NAN learnt that all the three persons involved in the deadly love saga were married to different spouses.

Oyedutan’s wife, Tolu, described his death as “painful loss.’.

She said she was with her late husband until he died at about 11pm on Monday.

”My regret now is that my five-year-old son will grow up without a father,” she mourned.

The Police spokesperson in Lagos, ASP Dolapo Bhadmus, told NAN that the command was yet to be officially informed of the incident as at press time. (NAN)

HURIWA also accused the Buhari's government of abuse of power and for double standards and discrimination against the South East by going after the Indigenous peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and systematically implementing the demands of both the Arewa elders and youth who had issued a quit notice on Igbos in the North.

"Prior to the controversial military deployment the South East of Nigeria was very peaceful even as persons from all parts of Nigeria were going about their businesses without harassment but the Nigeria Army came with the python dance and created animosity amongst the different ethnic nationalities and this military deployment that has occasioned the killings of many young Igbo youth is interpreted in so many quarters as coordinated Ethnic pogrom".

With these affirmations, a leading Pro-Democracy and Non-Governmental organisation-HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HURIWA) has condemned in the strongest possible terms the overwhelming use of extreme brute and unmoderated military force by Nigerian Army in the ongoing Python Dance 11 in the South East of Nigeria and especially in Aba the commercial nerve center of the South East and Umuahia the Abia State Capital.

The Rights group said there was no legal reason for the deployment of the Military in the first instance given that there was no extenuating circumstances such as any imminent threats to the national secirity nor was there any threat to the territorial integrity of Nigeria as precribed by sections 5(4); 217 and 218 of the Constitution of Nigeria to warrant the Presidential deployment of the Army without recourse to the National Assembly given that the Indigenous peoples of Biafra (IPOB) apart from being non-violent is canvassing self determination recognised by the International Covenant on civil and political Rights and several other global human rights laws.

HURIWA in the statement made against the backdrop of emerging recorded evidential facts showing the gruesome massacre and graphic details of dozens of civilians in Umuahia and Aba by the military carrying out the python dance in the South East of Nigeria said it made no sense that at the time that the President had inaugurated a human rights violations' panel on allegations of military's involvements in gross human rights violations, the operatives and officers of the Army embarked on another rounds of grave human rights breaches including committing extrajudicial killings of many civilians.

The Rights group said from eye witnesses who gave well corroborated information, the military engaged in broad day vicious attack of the premises of the traditional ruler of AfaraUkwu Umuahia the father of Nnamdi Kanu leading to the killing of dozens of suspected members of the Indigenous peoples of Biafra (IPOB) who were not armed.

"The photographic and video evidences of these massacres show that most of those killed were definitely fleeing from the invading soldiers which proves clear cases of gross crime against humanity which must be transparently and independently investigated and the soldiers who undertook that operation and used lethal weapons on the civilian population are tried and punished".

HURIWA accused the Military of carrying out the operation as if to say the nation was under a martial law when it is known that under constitutional democracy the military is subordinated to the Constitution and under the Constitution section 33(1) guarantees Right to life and freedom from extralegal executions. Section 33(1) ssys that " everyone has the right to life and no one SHALL be deprived intentionally of his life, save in the execution of a sentence of a court in respect a criminal offence of which he has been found guilty". Section 36(5) of the Constitution states that "every person who is charged with a criminal offence shall be PRESUMED TO BE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY". HURIWA therefore wonders why the armed security forces went after Nnamdi Kanu and his supporters with so much force, fury and overwhelming firepower even when there was no armed confrontation from the unarmed and totally peaceful members of the Indigenous peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

The group said also that the Nigerian Military must decentralise the nation's military assets across Nigeria because according to the group it is evidently clear that the arrival of heavy military weapons and equipment from outside of the South East of Nigeria to the geopolitical zone presented a graphic picture of the arrival of an occupying military force targeting an enemy territory even as the department for civil/military relations of the NigerNigerian Army made no concrete effort to sensitize the civil populace and solicit cooperation/partnership if indeed the Operation Python Dance part two is meant to provide security of lives and property of the citizens resident in the South East of Nigeria.

The Rights group blamed the military's occupation of South East of Nigeria for the tensions building up all across the civil populace because the impression created is that of military domination, conquer and occupation of the South East of Nigeria that has poor representation in the command and control structures of the Nigerian Military under President Muhammadu Buhari's administration. The group said the current administration must demonstrate equity and equality of representation of all segments of the population in the command and control structures of the Armed forces just as the Rights group faulted the exclusive alienation of a major Ethnic group like the Igbo in the distribution of strategic military positions in line with the Fexeral Character principle of the Constitution.

Over 14,000 Peoples Democratic members and supporters of a former national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff, have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

This is even as APC announced that it would commence reconciliation visits to the state chapters of the party in the South-South geopolitical zones on Sunday, towards strengthening the party for victory in the 2019 general elections in the region.

The defecting Sheriff’s loyalists led by a former National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, said they were “suffocated out of the party through deliberate act of impunity which led to the defeat of the party in 2015.”

The over 14,000 former PDP members were received by top members of the APC led by National Vice Chairman of APC, Mr. Hilliard Eta; Delta State leader of the party, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor; Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu; and the state chairman of the party, Prophet Jones Erue, among others in Agbor.


Speaking during the ceremony, PDP former National Vice Chairman (South-South), Ojougboh, said since the Supreme Court judgment which ousted the Sheriff faction, the Ahmed Markafi national leadership had refused to reach out to them, hence their resolve to leave.

Ojougboh said, “We asked the national body to open up the party after the unfortunate court judgment, the next thing we heard was that they were going to grant us amnesty, as if we are criminals.

“When Raymond Dokpesi was nominated as member of the committee for the non-elective convention, his nomination was rejected because they said they spent money on the court judgment.

“As if that was not enough, during the Anambra State governorship primary election, Jerry Gana was made chairman of a three-man committee to midwife a transparent election, but governors Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State and Nyesom Wike of Rivers State rejected it and came up with another committee that went to Anambra and handed everything to Peter Obi.

“Back here in Delta, we asked the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, to remove impunity, but what we continue to see here is a … family government.

“We now said it is time to look for people of like minds, people of progressive ideology to meet with, because I know most of you have ambitions to pursue.

“If we do not make a decision to belong to the progressives, most of you will miss out.”

SVX takes Discovery versatility to new levels through further development of its formidable off-road ability. It will be offered exclusively with Jaguar Land Rover’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol powertrain, tuned to deliver 525PS peak power and 625Nm torque, along with suspension modifications to enhance driver confidence when tackling the toughest terrain.

Hydraulic Active Roll Control (H-ARC), is new to Discovery on SVX. It gives increased wheel articulation and improved body control, enhancing extreme off-road traction while also reducing body roll for smooth and sure-footed on-road driving.

Discovery SVX has improved approach, departure and breakover angles, achieved by raising both the lightweight aluminium monocoque architecture and the four-corner air suspension system, employing long-travel dampers and revised knuckles, and fitting larger 815mm diameter 275/55 R20 Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tyres on forged aluminium alloy wheels.

Tyres with higher side-walls reduce contact pressure and improve performance on soft surfaces. Combined with a more aggressive tread pattern, this improves grip in muddy conditions.
