The quality of 🅰️ssist Osimhen received for that goal against Barcelona last night further proves that Nigeria Super Eagles needs a Creative Midfielder ASAP...

Osimhen's lack of goals at the just concluded #AFCON was mostly due to lack of quality supplies from the midfield.

To get the best out of this beast, we Must FEED HIM MORE...

UCL: Victor Osimhen scores on his return from AFCON as Napoli stage comeback draw against Barcelona

Nigeria Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen helped his side Napoli to a 1-1 draw against Spanish giants, Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The goal poacher scored to cancel a Robert Lewandoski's strike to earn a point for Gli Azzurri at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

After a goalless affair in the first half, the visiting team broke the deadlock in the hour mark with Lewandoski putting the Blaugrana ahead.

The Pole fired a powerful low shot into the bottom corner to put the away team in front with 30 minutes to go from a Pedri assist.

Osimhen however equalled score 15 minutes later with what was his last strike of the game as he was substituted afterwards.

Zambo Anguissa played a pass through to Victor Osimhen inside the box, and the Nigerian striker outmuscled Iñigo Martínez before turning and finding the bottom corner.

Osimhen has now scored 6 UCL goals at home and 9 goals in total in 16 appearances.

Then this thread wouldn't exist. You know how many Nigerians they made happy during the AFCON?

Let's examine your assertions and propositions and see what they are anchored on ⚓ substantive facts and rational ❓

What's the basis for national team selection ❓ Outstanding consistent top level performances in club and league. Taking into cognisance the quality of the league.

Having this quasi balance score card appraisal framework. What then is the rational for Nwakali selection ❓

Since arriving at Arsenal as a youth player he has been in consistent regression from loans in the Eredivisie demoted very quickly to Dutch 2nd tier , then the indignity of Porto B, ( youth team) .

Finally Arsenal dashed him to Huesca Segunda Division (no transfer fee) On arrival at Huesca he was immediately loaned out to an event lower Segunda Division team. Huesca then tried to sell him for €300k
But nobody wanted him fact. Then Huesca tried to terminate Nwakali contract illegally before it's expiry, they were desperate to throw him away. Why 😧 too good ❓

He then goes to a Bankruptcy team that's at the bottom of the Segunda Division, Ponferridina. This his third year in the doldrums of Portuguese football. He gets relegated and once again nobody in la liga and or the Segunda Division wants him.

Hundreds of coaches, analysts and managers have seen him in Segunda Division but NOBODY wanted him, but why ❓

He ends up taking a pay cut to play in a other poor level relegation club in the Portuguese league, Chavez.

It's only people here that talk about Nwakali.

He simply has done NOTHING to justify a call up to SE.

So who is the sentimental and emptive one here ❓

And you have the audacity to call me emotively biased.
So which player do you suggest that has a similar profile to his? Because our midfield needs it so badly.

The Afcon really exposed us in that area and I bet Osimhen is inwardly praying and yearning for a decent supplier.

Can you place the link

Because it's either a game football forum because these claims don't add up for 2023/24..

Alvarez is not in the EPL top 10 with only 8 goals , Song not in the top 5 and VO is way behind the top 10.

Nigeria's Osimhen & Boniface Makes 2024 Top 10 World Best Strikers;

1. Erling Halaand
2. Harry Kane
3. Kylian Mbappe
4. Victor Osimhen(NIGERIAN)
5. Lauaro Martinez(ARGENTINE)
6. Heung Ming Song
7. Victor Boniface(NIGERIAN)
8. Julian Alvarez(ARGENTINE)
9. Cristiano Ronaldo
10. Robert Lewandoski.
(SPORT Bible)

Nigeria missed Boniface in AFCON2023. We hope he'll be ready along Osimhen, for CAF WC Qualifiers and next year's afcon as well. Only Nigeria and Argentina have 2 players on the list. Congrats to them all.

You have people that don't understand there is huge gulf between youthful expectations and senior professional football ⚽.

Nwakali is a very poor quality football player this is the fact. He has been mediocre in every team he has played in. That's why he has remained in the backwaters of football.

Chávez will get destroyed by majority of NPFL teams I would place serious money on Enyimba flogging Chavez blue and black.
You're just sounding as if if he gets invited for a friendly someone will die or the earth will fall, or the money in your bank account will reduce.

Is he clubless or is he playing for free?

Is he playing in Taiwan or india?

Even though its Chavez that is the weakest club in the league what about Nsue that wrote his name in the history book of his country?

Even in the AFCON provisional list he was in there which means Peseiro who is even Portuguese at least has him in consideration and he is being recognized so why the hell would you who is just a fan wage an outright war on his invitation?

Your assertions are just emotions and bias daz all.

That means we should invite every Nigerian origin midfielder in EPL and Championship plus League one in England and Europe 🌍.

Because that's essentially what you are saying.
Nwakali's case has been in the picture for a very long time not even on this forum alone even on social media. All what we need is confirmation so that all these debate can be concluded and buried once and for all.

It's long overdue.

They say charity begins at home in your club and league.

So why is Chavez at the bottom of the League and scored the second lowest number of goals 🥅 in the league . Why didn't he create big chances for his team to score more.

I have this feeling that there's some sort of personal hatred you people have with this Nwakali dude, and I can't be made to believe otherwise.

I seriously need to know what his offense is.

Do you even remember that players of his "caliber" against South Africa and Angola effortlessly dominated our midfield that had "much superior" Iwobi and Onyeka?

Have you forgotten AFCON top scorer Nsue? Gelson dala, Nwabali, Seko fofana I can go on and on these guys came all the way from unknown clubs and leagues and shone in the AFCON.

Who even thought onyeka is such a pivotal player in our midfield?

What about Alhassan if not for Ndidi's exclusion.

Nwakali may not be the real deal to improve our midfield..

But do you know what ? That is still on paper until it is confirmed!

Our midfield deficiencies are too serious for us to just wave off even the slig sadhtest of potential personnel that offers remedy. We really need to tell ourselves the truth

What happened to Chukwueze
This is not the Villareal guy that exposed Real Madrid’s defense last season
He needs to go watch a lot of Arjen Robben, Mo Salah & Bukayo Saka’s clips
Chukwueze is the only Nigerian player in an elite European football club
Or maybe we expect a little too much
Was expecting him to be on Pulisic’s level tbh!
My opinion though
It's not just your opinion bro its a fact. The guy na big disappointment.

One match does not determine but a tournament or season. This season, fifa has not conducted any tournament but Africa did. Africa should update the record against fifa previous records. My point is, in 2024, Morocco should not be ranked as number one in Africa. Senegal, Nigeria, Ivory coast, Congo, cape varde, and South Africa should be at the top 5.
Remember it's an accumulation of points. And most of the teams Morocco defeated were higher ranked.

I give kudos to him for this achievement.

From 40th (or so) to 28th in the world is such a great leap. Though he still has a lot of work to do to overtake Morocco and Senegal (wide gap).

Tell me about it, the WC semi final?
Well not just that.

It is based on points accumulated while winning matches. Most erssentially against teams with more higher ranking than you. Every team has its points accumulated.

For example, let's assume Nigeria and Ivory Coast are joint ranked with same accumulated points.

Nigeria plays against Brazil and wins

Ivory Coast plays Kenya and also wins

Although they will both get more points but Nigeria gains more and move higher up the ranking because they beat a higher ranked team which is Brazil.

And Brazil on the other hand drops points for losing to Nigeria who is ranked lower.

Why is it corresponding with world rankings... These people are still slaves and do not have the mind of their own. They should be able to teach fifa the real African ratings. As far as am concerned, Morocco is not number 1

Although, no player should be bullied at all but how are our fans bullying iwobi and allowing chukwueze to go free? When, chukwueze didn’t do anything worthy
My guy the reasons should be clear to you nah

Iwobi is the most experienced and has more pedigree than anyone else in that midfield. He's also part of the first 11. Meaning he by far saw more minutes and he also played every game.

And this: His ackadaisical attitude especailly when the team is fighting for the ball, which has proven to be the most irritating part didn't bid well for him, his forwards, and even the team as a whole.

As a midfielder, you're practically occupying one of the most sensitive positions on the field of play. Especially in the case of a two-man midfield.

He was also expected to be the basic creative outlet behind the forwards- linking the defense to the attack.

Dude really left much to be desired I tell you.
