Do I get to be paid the same amount with what people receive there? Because I really do not know your argument now. How about they introduce something like 1k/hr for the least paying job in Nigeria and see if Nigerians will spend 12hrs working non-stop or not. A country where minimum wage is less than $50 is what you're using to compare to USA or other advanced countries? |

zero8zero: The 13% oil derivation, is it not the FG that's spending money drilling the oil?, how much is state governors spend in drilling the oil?. Tell FG to keep their money for drilling oil, let the state handle the drilling and also keep 90% of the revenue from it and pay 10% to FG. Now, the question to ask is if FG would agree to this formula. Moreover FG does not pay IOCs money to drill oil, so I don't know where you got that from |

GothamCities: You don't understand.
50% of state revenue from tax should be retained in each state. This was part of the original bill. Instead of sending all your tax revenues to the federal account, you retain 50% and send 50%. No boss, I'm in accounting world and I perfectly understand what they mean by 50% equality. What you explained up there is the derivation aspect and not equality basis. It should be 20% equality and 60% derivation |

Business › Re: CBN fines nine Banks N150m each for failing to dispense cash via ATMs by Mexyz(m): 11:21pm On Jan 14, 2025 |
Nazgul: I don't need to know anything about the banking sector. I'm talking based on my experience.
How would you explain POS operators having cash and banks don't? You can't even withdraw 20k from you account. They'll tell you that what they can give to you is 10k.
Yet people walk into the banks to make deposits daily. The way people walk into the banks to make deposits everyday is the same way people walk into the bank to withdraw. Now let's say a branch of a bank has 10Million naira in their vault at the beginning of the day, you're not expecting them to load the whole of that money inside the ATM because they need to serve their own customers too. Meanwhile, one ATM can take as much as 5-6million, imagine a branch with say 3 ATMs will need to have 15-18million to load(Take note that before 12noon, this ATMs would run out of cash) Then we have customers (Fuel stations, supermarkets, etc) of banks that get huge cash receipts daily, instead of bringing the cash into the banking system, they would rather sell to POS operators at a profit. So how exactly do you want banks to get cash to service customers? You're talking based on your experience, yes I understand but you should also know that those within the system know what's going on and nobody would want to come out to accuse the regulators because of sanctions/fines and the rest. No doubt that there's cash out there, but trust me the cash is not within the banking system and CBN should do the needful to bring the cash in. |
Business › Re: CBN fines nine Banks N150m each for failing to dispense cash via ATMs by Mexyz(m): 9:26pm On Jan 14, 2025 |
Nazgul: I've been complaining about this nonsense since.
You'll go to a bank ATM only to discover that they're not dispensing cash, yet all the POS agents around the banks all have cash. Before Ecobank Ojuelegba was demolished, there was a time I went there their atm wasn't dispensing cash, Access bank which is close to them too didn't have cash. Yet all the POS operators within that vicinity had suplurs cash. You can even request for 100k and they'll give you.
Even the banks who would manage to give you cash wouldn't give you above 10k. If you want anything above 10k go to POS.
Yesterday I made a withdrawal of 10k from a POS operator, she charged me N300. Yes you heard me right N300 to collect 10k. She told me that it's because of the new charges CBN put on them for 10k deposits and above. So if I want 50k I'll pay 1,500? What kind of robbery is that?
I've been saying this that banks deliberately starve their ATMs of money because many of them sell cash to POS operators who in return sell to customers at abnormal rates.
We are our problem in this country. The way some of you just make accusations and assumptions online without even knowing what's happening in the banking sector is surprising. Oga you know absolutely nothing about the Operations of the banking sector, so stop throwing accusations anyhow. When CBN are ready to make cash available to Nigerians, they know what to do. |

The level of poverty and misery in the land is beyond words.
Let those who haven't been truthful to themselves keep the lies going. U see,if ur parents aren't connected or rich in this country of today,u will suffer the consequences unless,u are lucky or destined to be rich.
But the truth is,many would struggle. I know how much I earned in a month, yet I am complaining bitterly. Last year,I earned about 56million,I spent roughly 20million on households alone. It saddens my heart to see this. The money I spent for extended families alone was crazy.
Let alone those who are still suffering. I travelled to my village, the truth is,I have been indoors for the past two days, uncles are calling me,many people are calling me aunties are calling...I just switched off.
No be me be Tinubu.
Nigeria is in a mess, it is only idiots who are tribalists and without reasons are those who feel the country should continue in this trajectory. Just the truth here, even those who are earning big are feeling the heat. Things are seriously hard out there. |

Coldrux: I'm one of them. It a shame I have to admit so. I'm terribly struggling. At times, I lock myself and cry I've lost every hope for a better tommorow due to my current situation which is really appalling. I'm refusing to pity myself. But the more I work hard, the more the hardship persists. It takes a lot of effort to work and earn money, but it takes just a few seconds for same money to finish on essential items. I have to take care of myself and younger siblings, pay my rent, transport and do other things from the meagre pay I receive as a private sch teacher. My rent will be due by next month, & there's no means of raising funds. Who do I have to hear me out? It's a sad one. If you're in Lagos and you remain a teacher for one year earning less than 200k then something is wrong somewhere. Not boasting or removing the place of God but I find it hard to believe when people (graduate) say they remain a school teacher in Lagos earning 30k for a year plus when there are tons of opportunities out there in Lagos to earn higher pay. Brother if you only come online to complain without letting those who are closed to you know about your struggles, then you are far from getting help o. Tell people around you that you are job hunting and am sure help will come your way. |

This is true
Its actually draining.
Its one of the few things i dont fancy about the state. The houses/rent are overpriced and aside the socalled highbrow areas of Lagos, then maybe some places in the mainland like Ilupeju,Yaba,Onipanu, Ogba, Egbeda, Festac and where again, houses in other places are very horrible looking with ridiculous rent fee
The parlour, kitchen and bathroom spacing in most of the houses would make you wonder if they didnt include them in the initial house plan...very very small
No even talk about agent and agreement fee.
The funny thing is, Lagosians boast about these things as if its a flex. Not at all, na suffer you dey suffer My brother you no lie o, na suffer we dey suffer for Lagos. Been looking for a mini flat since God knows when and you need to come see where this Godforsaken Agents have taken me to in my search for an apartment.
