DAY 27: SITEMAP AND WIREFRAMES

What a busy week it has been, and with each day comes new knowledge to acquire but I won't give up now. So today, I learned about Site maps and Wireframes.

Sitemaps and wireframes are essential tools for UI/UX designers as they help to visually organize the structure and the layout of digital products.

SITEMAPS:
A sitemap is a diagram that shows the hierarchical structure of a website or digital product. Sitemaps helps to define the content and structure of the product, making it easier to understand and navigate.

To create a sitemap, follow these steps:
1. Define the main sections
2. Group related content
3. Define the relationships
4. Review and refine

WIREFRAME:
A Wireframe is a two dimensional detailed layout of individual pages of a product design.

To create wireframes, follow these steps:
1. Define the content
2. Identify the elements
3. Layout the UI elements
4. Define the interactions
5. Review and refine

Creating site maps and wireframes helps designers effectively plan and visualize the structure and layout of the digital product.

DAY 26: Information Architecture (IA) and Interaction design (IxD)

Monday; today I learned about information architecture and Interaction design, these are two important aspects of UI UX design that helps designers create digital products that are both easy to use and navigate

Information architecture is the process of organising and structuring digital content in a way that makes it easy to find and navigate.

IA involves the following steps:
- Define the content
- Create a site map
- Design navigation
- Label content

Interaction design: is the process of designing how users interact with the digital product.

Interaction design involves following steps
- Define user's needs and goals
- Design UI elements
- Create wireframes
- Design interactions

By designing the IA and IxD of the product, designers can create digital products that are easy to navigate and use.

DAY 25: The purpose of design thinking

It's Sunday, for most techies this is a day to invest in personal branding, either it be gaining new knowledge or working on personal projects and preparing for the new week.
I did a percent of both today and in the learning section I learned about the purpose of design thinking.

I learned that;

> The purpose of design thinking is to create innovative solutions to complex problems that are user centered and practical

> The purpose of design thinking is to enable designers to create products services and experiences that are better aligned with the needs and desires of users

> Design thinking is also used to foster culture of innovation and collaboration within organisations

> The main goal of design thinking is to create solutions that make a positive impact on people's lives and that helps to solve some of the most pressing challenges facing individuals, organisation and the society as a whole.

DAY 24: THE FOUR PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN THINKING

It's day 24 already, going to a month since I started learning about the basics of UI UX design, so today I learned about the four principles of design thinking.

1. Human Centered: This emphasizes on the fact that the focus should be on empathizing with the users, observing their behavior and gaining insights into their needs and preferences

2. Collaborative: This principle focuses the attention on the collaboration of interdisciplinary design teams in other to gain different/diverse perspective and skills to generate creative ideas and solutions.

3. Iterative: This principles emphasizes on the importance of iteration i.e creating multiple prototypes and testing them with users to gather feedback.

4. Creative: Designers should be open to new ideas and experimentation in other to create breakthrough solutions and innovation.

By following these four principles, designers can create products/services that are aligned with the needs and desires of users, which will then deliver great value and impact

DAY 19:

It's Monday, and I'm reflecting on the journey so far, I started confused while optimistic, It's has not been a particularly easy one to be frank due to the busy nature of my 9-5 but life goes on so fast and we must do our best to also be on the move. So we mueveee!

So today, I learned about the reasons to analyze data

Analyzing data is important for a number of reasons, particularly in fields such as UX research, where data plays a critical role in informing design decisions, Here are some reasons you analyze data

1. Analyzing data helps gain insights into identifying patterns, trends and outliers in the data that can provide valuable insights.

2. Analyzing data helps make informed design decisions

3.It helps measure progress

4. Validate hypotheses: Data analysis helps to validate or disprove hypotheses about user behavior, needs and preferences.

5. Data analysis helps improve user experience.

Analyzing data is essential for making informed designs and creating effective designs that meet user needs and preferences.

DAY 18:

So today, I learnt about the steps to conducting data analysis when interviewing

When conducting analysis of user interviews, there are several steps to follow to ensure that the data is properly analyzed and meaningful insights are derived

We have:
1. Transcription: This involves converting the audio/Video recording into text format. Transcription software can be used for this but it is important to review the transcripts for accuracy.

2. Data coding: The next step is to code the interview transcript. This is the process of converting data into a form that can be analyzed. In simpler terms, A code is a label that describes a piece of sentence, while coding is the process of creating and assigning codes to categorize data extract. Coding helps ensure that your analysis is valid and approached systematically.

3. Categorization: This involves grouping the codes after they have been assigned into broader categories.

4. Synthesis: The final step is to synthesize the data to identify key insights and patterns, this involves reviewing the coded and categorized data in order to identify trends, common themes, and areas of concern.

DAY 15:

I logged in on X around 2am just to see the happenings on there, you know what I discovered? I saw a lot of other people like me, Nigerians like me, young people like me, still awake, putting in the work. It just goes on to show that we Nigerians are hard-workers especially when we know what we want and that's what set us apart from the rest.

Back to the course, So today I learned about ways of understanding users needs and behaviors.
To create digital products that works, it is very important to understand the needs and behaviors of the users who will interact with the product.

There are common way to understand the user needs and behaviors
1. Conducting user research
2. Develop personas
3. Create user stories
4. Conduct contextual inquiry
5. Use analytics
6. Test the product
Programming / Re: Walk With Me On My UI UX Design Journey by michaellovaldo(m): 11:04pm On Feb 26
USER STORY:

A user story represents a small concise statement of functionality or quality needed to deliver value to a specific stakeholder.

Creating a user story involves the following steps:
1. Define the user: this involves identifying the user who will interact with the product
2. Describe the user's goal: Describe the user's goals or their objectives
3. Define the product interaction: Describe the specific interactions the user will have with the product to accomplish their goals.
4. Include any necessary details: Include any necessary details such as the user's environment, context or other relevant factors.\\

Personas and user stories can help designers make informed design decisions, prioritize features and ensure that the product is designed with the users in mind

DAY 14: Creating personas and user stories

So it's day 14 of learning UI UX design, my notebook is getting filled and the journey gets more interesting by the day. There is a popular saying that states "The results you are looking for is in the work you are running from" . This saying made me realize something, and that is, the construction materials for a good future is the work we put in today. So we shouldn't forget to put in the work because heaven helps those who help themselves

So today I learned about persona and user stories.
Persona is a representation of a clutter of target users who exhibit similar attributes, goals and behaviors based on user research in relation to your product. Personas are created to represent the different types of users that will interact with the digital product. A persona typically includes information such as the user's demographics, needs, goals and behaviors.

Creating a persona involves the following steps:
1. Gathering user research data: this involves collating data through surveys, interviews, observation and focus groups to understand user's needs, behaviors and motivations.
2. Identify common patterns: This involves identifying patterns in the data to group users into different segments
3. Develop personas: This involves creating a persona for each user segment using the research data to define their needs, goals and behaviors.

As added research on Youtube, I learned the various elements of a persona
1. Persona name
2. Quote
3. Personal information
4. Bio
5. Goals
6. Frustrations

I also discovered the needs for persona
1. It will help designers determine who they are creating the design for
2. It will help settle disputes within design patterns and needs since you have a better way of understanding your primary customer needs and expectation.

DAY 13: For today

In the midst of all these rogbodiyans grin, Learning continues.

So today, I learnt about conducting user research. let's go!

User research is a critical aspect of the user centered design process. Conducting user research involves gathering data and insights about the user to inform the design of digital products.

We have some key steps to consider when conducting user research:
1. Identify your research goals: this involves understanding the objectives and goals for the user research, i.e the types of questions, you want to answer, the type of data you want to collate and the methods you will use to collect that data.

2. Choose your research method: This refers to as choosing the research method you want to use for collating the data, there are variety of research methods available, one is survey, another is observation and so on.

3. Recruit participants: This involves enlisting some test users/participants to take part in the research.

4. Conduct the research: This involves conducting the research using some of the methods of user research. Note that you can use more than one method of research on a project.

5. Analyse the data: This involves unifying the data collated during the research and looking out for patterns, themes and insights.

6. Use the insights: This involves using the insights gained to inform the design.

7. Iterate and test: This involves repeating the research process so as to implement the changes needed based on feedback as user research is a repetitive process.

DAY 12:

I was super super busy yesterday, from running an event branding to designing flyers and finishing up on some logos, I had a very busy day! That didn't stop me from learning overnight though I wasn't just able to type the long notes to post yesterday. How was the rain at your end? wink

So yesterday, I learnt about ways to improve end user experience.

Improving end user experience can be a critical factor in the success of a product or service, here are some tips on how to improve end user experience.

1. Conduct user research: Doing this helps the designer to understand the needs, preferences and pain points of end users. The insights gained can then be used to design products and services that meets their needs and expectations.

2. Simplify the user interface: Create Intuitive design and user-friendly interface that makes it easy for users to navigate through the product or service.

3. Optimize performance: improve the performance of the product or service to reduce load times and increase responsiveness. Optimize the product to ensure it runs smoothly across a range of devices and operating system.

4. Provide excellent support: Provide excellent customers support to help end users trouble shoot any issues they may encounter.

5. Continuously test and improve: Continuously test and improve the product or service based on user feedback. Gather feedback from end users through surveys or feedback forms, and use this information to make iterative improvements.

By implementing these tips, you can improve the end user experience of your product or service leading to higher satisfaction and increasing user retention.
