DAY 32: DESIGNING FOR VARIOUS PLATFORM AND DEVICES

It's Day 32, and that the last topic to Figma introduction in this course! yay!!
So today, I learnt about designing for various platforms and devices, in this today's digital world, it's essential to design for various platforms and devices. Users expect a consistent and seamless experience across different devices, such as desktops and laptops, tablets and smartphones.

So we were also given some consideration to keep note of when designing for various platforms and devices.

One is Responsive design: This refers to designing products that can adapt to different screen sizes, ranging from mobile phones, to laptops and tablets. To design responsive designs, follow these guidelines:
- Mobile first approach
- Use fluid layout
- Use breakpoint

2. Platform specific design: Each platform has it's own design guidelines and user expectation. To design for different platforms, follow these guidelines

- Use platform specific design patterns
- Follow platform specific guidelines
- Test on different devices


3. Accessibility: This refers to designing product that are accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. To design for accessibility, follow these guidelines.
1. Use semantic HTML: to describe content structure for users
2. Use alternate text
3. Use contrast

DAY 31: ICONOGRAPHY AND VISUAL HIERARCHY

It's Monday! Each lesson taken draws me closer to Figma introduction, I honestly can't wait at this point I know it's just a tool for design but you won't understand even if I try to explain
I just want to get this updating of a thing done as soon as possible. So today I learned about Iconography and Visual hierarchy.

Iconography and visual hierarchy are essential components of UI/UX design. They help users navigate the product and understand the content meaning quickly.

In the lesson, we were also given an overview on both components:

ICONOGRAPHY: Iconography refers to the use of icons or symbols to represent information as stated above. To use iconography effectively, follow these guidelines.
- Choose appropriate icons:
- Use icons meaningfully
- Ensure consistency


VISUAL HIERARCHY: This refers to the arrangement of elements in a way that guides user's attention to the most important information. To use visual hierarchy effectively, follow these guidelines.

- Use size and color
- Use placement
- Use whitespace
- Use contrast

By using iconography and visual hierarchy effectively designs can create digital products that are easy to navigate, understand and use.

DAY 30: VISUAL DESIGN

It's Sunday! I already had this note typed yesterday but the network palava didn't allow me post it, How is the weekend going with everyone?
so today's I think I will be updating this thread twice.
Today I learnt a little bit about Visual design. Visual design is an essential component of UI/UX design. It involves the use of typography, color and imagery to create visual language communicates the product's purpose and brand's identity. From further research, visual design focuses on the aesthetics of a product, including elements like colors, typography and images. It is concerned with how a product looks.

I was also given an overview of how to create visual elements effectively:

FOR IMAGERY:
> Choose appropriate images
> Use Images strategically
> Optimize images


FOR TYPOGRAPHY
> Choose appropriate fonts
> Set font sizes and styles
> Font Hierarchy

FOR COLOR
> Choose a color pallete

My own issue is that I don't have a source of income, so buying data the way I'll like and paying for indepth courses is not something I have the capacity for. I started out today as early as 5am and got back in the evening, then I had to finish up on some designs, so I opened this course for the first time today some minutes back

So today, I learned about USER FLOW & NAVIGATION

User flow refers to the path that a user takes through a digital product to complete a task or reach a goal.

To design an effective user flow, follow these steps:
1. Define user's goals
2. Map user flow
3. Identify pain points
4.Optimize flow

NAVIGATION
Navigation refers to the user interface elements that allows user to move through product and find the content they need.

To design effective navigation, follow these steps
1. Define the content
2. Choose navigation types
3. Design navigation elements
4. Test navigation
