A fresher of urp must know how to good in al area, we draw, calculate and write in urp.... URP unlike architecture that mainly based on drawing...u will need to go with ur drawing set because u will do course like graphics communication, buildin construction and material.. CRISIS IN OAU AS UNION LEADER REMOVE FAMOUS CRITIC FROM PUBLIC DISCUSSION GROUP By Matthew Edache Wisdom There is presently a rancour in the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife over the dictatorial acts of the Students' Union President,Akande Omotayo. On Sunday,Comrade Akande Omotayo successfully remove Moshood Odunayo Olajide, one of his fierciest critic from the Students' Union facebook page which is a platform students use in the 53 year old University to express their mind and criticize the frauds in the Omotayo Akande led administration. Omotayo Akande led administration recently budget 1.8 million naira for phone calls alone apart from budgetary allocation to other areas like transportation,DSTV, food allowance, security vote among others while the President also implement 1.6 million naira scholarship scheme which many students termed as a fraud.Recently,he attempted to travel to Newyork but his effort was thwarted by conscious parliamentarians as they suspend him for a month. With this new dictatorial act, students are now questioning his authority since he is not ready to welcome dissent opinions. Moshood Odunayo Olajide whom many always reffered to as a reformer is often praised for his audacious criticism of actors in the student movement and mighty political figures both in national and international politics. Meanwhile,Students have ferociously rise to his defense of. Leading the condemnation of the President dictatorial act is Olubanji Oluwole Engel who is the National mobilizer officer of Education Rights Campaign. He said and I quote'This is least expected from a person voted to implement radical change and liberate Great Ife Students from the shackle of oppressors but unfortunately he chose to go dictatorial by clamping down on activists on campus. On this note,I join Nigerian students to say #BringBackMoshood. On his part, a notable writer on campus,Akeem sage noted that,This is a total macabre! And impersonality to the entire critics who are actually doing it for sanity sake.if Omotayo does not allow criticism, what he is rather clamouring is totalitarianism, which is not the foundation of OAU unionism. And who ever support him on this ground is automatically assassinating our white garment-our culture.because only a tyranic government deter and punish critics. democracy allows for intellectual agitation, in as much as it does not require physical fight or fisticuffs, which is a symbol of lout.He concluded with the current trending hashtag BringBackMoshood. In his own contribution, a Law graduate Adavize Alao censure the Students Union for daring to silence critics. He further substantiate his claim with photographic evidence that the Union President is the one behind the removal of critics in the Union page.He concluded with the #BringBackMoshood hashtag. High ranking parliamentarians led by Honourable Omole Ibukun,a three time member of the students' union parliament representing faculty of Technology and General Secretary of Education Rights Campaign,OAU Branch also voice his disapproval against the removal of the famous critic while Honourable Damilola Towobola,a two time member of the parliament representing faculty of Law also voice his disapproval against the expulsion of critics from the Students Union discussion page. Class Governors led by part 2 Class Representative, Adexistic Fynestboi have also condemn the expulsion in its totality. Only time can tell whether the President will bow to the agitation of students demanding the immediate and unconditional reinstatement of the famous critic back to the discussion group. Matthew Edache Wisdom is a part 1 student of the Department of Dramatic Art. Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile-Ife. Cc: lalasticlala

ANGOLA HALL: The memoirs of a Hall Resident........... "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." - Mark Twain Moving in to the hall residents that was given to me by the school portal was never a problem because it was what I've always been looking up to, as the fever of been a student of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo university has already gripped me. Leaving my house where I've turn to a couch potato was not a problem, because of the anxiety of moving in to Angola hall, block F, room 109 on june 1st, 2014. After a long wait in the queue, waiting to get registered at the Porter's lodge, I moved in to the hostel named Angola, same name as that Portuguese speaking country in the eastern part of Africa. I saw fresh faces, fully loaded bags and bagages, happy minds, everybody moving en mass to their respective rooms. Angola Hall, 'Bedrock of militancy' as it is called caught my attention with green landscape in front of block A, the undulating nature of the topography, and the structures I saw amaze me compare to other hostels I saw on my way to the Angola Hall and the 'ground floor' inscription on my E-Portal page. At last I moved in to my room, the last block, where I met 6 bunks ( 2 bedspace each) then I knew I'm in for a rough, rugged, and endurance journey. Finally, I met my room mates, new faces, fresh guys and 'frosh Niggas'. We all move in and as time goes on we relate together, gists together, talk about our families, previous experiences on OAU campus as a jambites, and ex predites, sport related issues and our journey to the campus. As we relate with each other, soon that strange feelings we have turned a brotherly feeling, and as time and fate has turn us into brothers, we now watch films together, play games, cook and also go to classes together. The journey of less than 9 months has come to an end,and new set of fresh men will take over and move into the hall,(that makes me remember this popular saying "soldier go, soldier come, Barack still remain the same). But the memories will still continue to linger in our memory. The days of " Ekaro seeh die jeans, the days of brother wake up it's time for morning devotion, the days of no light, no water where Africa our '' becomes the destination for most guys, the popular and disturbing sirens of the union public address system, the unending 'ARO' by fellow Angolans in the hostel common room when football matches are going on, and the days of playing ball at the rough Angola field, constant visit by different fellowships, the Anglo-Moz experience where the shades of trees cover the love and affection by late night lovers. Less I forget, the political games, strategies and approaches employed during the electioneering period, the suspense, the campaign, intrigues, love, and hatred, heart breaks and jubilations". I salute the level of maturity that was displayed by my roommates, block mates, and the entire Angolans throughout our stay in the hall. Though, we never know each other before, we argue, mid understood ourselves, our political ideology might be different, the football clubs we support might differ but Angola hall has make us one and we still remain as brothers even when we're not together again. At this moment, I drop my pen and continue with my journey on campus and move on from being a fresh man who once stayed in hall. I wish the incoming fresh men a peaceful and happy stay on campus and ironically a 'stress free semester ahead'. @Michaeltotti |
