Travel / Re: UK Or Canada Which Should I Choose; Study Abroad by MichaelUde: 9:57am On Apr 01, 2021 |
There is nothing special about the Canadian educational system. The average UK university has a much more diverse student body than most Canadian universities and the UK economy and job market is larger than anything Canada has to offer. The student experience, at least pre-covid, was and will be miles better in the UK than in Canada, which is basically very provincial. |

The UK student visa process is more straightforward and certain (as well as cash-intensive) - today is 1st April, and with your $35k, you can start making arrangements with your people in the UK if any for a planned arrival in August and you have a 95% chance of keeping to those arrangements, all other things remaining equal. You have only a 25% chance of getting a Canadian student's visa, so you weigh that. The standard UK 1 year masters degree is effectively 9 months - you can complete that and the average person who has embarked upon the Canadian student's visa process will still be waiting or will have already gone through at least one rejection. On the other hand, if you do manage to get a Canadian student's visa, you have a clearer and way better path to permanent residence than in the UK. Pros and cons full everywhere. 16 Likes |

oscarwilde: Lol. No mind OgaHR, na him way. Na hire and fire them sabi, the same person wey congratulate you on your appointment in one letter go later regret to inform you say the appointment don waka. But what he said na true o. You're more likely to be working on your physical fitness with Amazon than otherwise when you first land here. There is also a Step 5: Retrain for the NHS. I'm a Tier 2 dependant as well, my madam na nurse, I worked in a bank too. Pikins dey to feed, I dey work shift for supermarket. Just get something, anything doing so that you no go exhaust the money wey you use come from Naija and your madam go begin notice say gas bill dey high and wonder why that is so. 4 Likes |

And while I tend to agree with the action taken, I can clearly see OgaHR, the Lagosismyhome and the other gentleman's point and it makes sense. 2 Likes |

Aphrodite007: Lol. Madam, you spoke well, but just to correct the historical record, the English colonised Ireland the way they did to Nigeria, they treated the Irish the same way they treated their other colonial peoples, the Irish fought for their independence and won it, and the English took away Northern Ireland from them based on the fact that many people from England and Scotland had moved to that part of Ireland over the centuries of colonial rule, and that is precisely what the IRA and Sinn Fein were fighting/advocating to correct. So Ireland did nothing to the British Empire, rather it had a lot of bad things done to it. 2 Likes |

starboychan: Lol@ haggis. I’m a silent reader, but had to drop in to say something here. @TheGuyFromHR, senior man, I don chop that thing, its tasty, for me na ngwongwo and Quaker oats. Bros starboychan, I dey UK now, moved here last year. Me too dey get sensitive stomach, I used to be an abuser of Flagyl in those days when I used to travel to Nsukka by road from Lagos, I eat nothing the day before travelling and nothing on the whole journey except dry biscuit, while my friends go dey laugh me dey chop anything dem see for roadside. As I dey UK, I dey try anything, and as Oga HR said, food is the least of my worries. As long as you are not allergic to stuff or, if so, you know what you are allergic to, no worry about food matter, abeg. 6 Likes |

collaysmith: No real fixed time. Any time within waking hours is fine. The phone number I gave is the one for our home phone, and my wife has stopped work now and is (or should be, women self) at home this week as we're packing up. |
