Olinga:
Good day everybody.

Please, my total payable tuition fee is £16,950. I got discount of £4,000 and I have paid £7,500 so far, leaving me with a balance of £5,450 payable, my school is located outside London £1023 x 9 = £9207.
A total of £14,657 is needed as POF for me. Using oanda’s exchange rate is will be needing NGN7,415,410

My dad is my sponsor and he has NGN6,954,930
I have about NGN3,000,000 in my personal account, which makes up the POF.
Now the issue is in my account I have withdrawn and deposited funds in it since the past 28days but it has never gone below NGN2,000,000. To be clearer in the last 28days I started with an opening balance of NGN7,000,000 but right now I have about NGN3,000,000.

Please will the inconsistencies in my account be an issue for visa purposes.

Please I sent you a request to email you concerning the school.

Congratulations!
I am also going to Salford, although I am yet to submit my visa application due to my TB test slated for 9th December. Please like how many days does it take the University of Salford to issue CAS? Have you gotten accommodation?

Does one have to do the tb test before applying for visa? I'm still waiting for my admission offer so not sure if I should wait till I get the offer and CAS then do the tb test or I should start now to get the test done while waiting for admission?

Hi, I just replied your email. I did not send an academic letter of reference. The only reference I submitted was from the place I work, stating they are granting me study leave for a year.

Oh thank you. Yet to see your email though. Is it possible to speak to you on phone if it's not too much trouble

Yes that's correct.

It can be more than 28 days. But once printed, use within 31 days and if you don't, just re-print

Thanks a lot.

It's on page 1

"The money should be kept in your account for 28days weekends included (school fees + maintenance money) ending no more than 31 days before your application"

UKVI can call your bank to verify.

Please can someone explain this clause to me, ending no more than 31 days before your application?

I'm a bit confused. Does it mean that after the 28 days you should print your bank statement then you must apply for the visa within 31 days of printing the statement?

Education / Re: Planning To Study In The UK? You Will Need These Important Documents. by michellez(f): 4:45pm On Oct 23, 2020
Capital2021:
Applying to study in the UK either for an undergraduate or post graduate degree is not as difficult as it seems, you only need to be well prepared and have the right paperwork and documents required. I have compiled a list of the Five (5) important documents that you’ll need to have and submit if you are thinking of studying abroad. Check out the list below:

1. Academic Transcript
While applying to a University in the UK, you will be required to submit an academic transcript that focuses on your academic experience and accomplishments. Academic transcripts give the University full details about the subjects or courses you’ve studied and the grades you received. Universities expect these transcripts to be official copies and not screenshots or printed pages. Academic transcripts are important because seeing what subjects you took can help universities decide if you have the necessary background and skills for the degree you are applying to.

2. Certificate of Graduation
You will be asked to submit certified copies of your high school graduation diploma. Universities need these documents to have proof that you attended and graduated from a previous level of education in order to qualify for a new programme. These certificates of graduation usually include data about the educational institution you attended, your grade Point average (GPA) and final grades.

3. Certificate of English Proficiency
Although Nigeria is an English-speaking country, most Universities in the UK don’t consider it an English-speaking country and still require prospective students to submit a certificate to show excellent English Language proficiency. Universities in the UK usually accept students who can communicate, understand and consequently succeed in their education. There are various English standardized tests admitted at UK universities such as IELTS, TOEFL or UCLES.

4. Personal statement.
A personal statement is required when applying to Universities in the UK. In it, prospective students are to write about what they hope to do on the course, what they hope to do after the course and why they are applying. Your personal statement holds great value as the Universities gauge your suitability for the program on its basis. Typically, the personal statement should be clearly structured and well-written, limited to 1-2 pages.

5. Reference/Recommendation Letters
There are two type of reference/recommendation letters, academic and professional. Academic References are from your Head of School or a teacher who can attest to your academic qualification while professional references are from your employers. The academic reference letter should talk about you from a teacher's or supervisor's perspective: the way in which you interact with other students and your performance in classes and seminars.

I hope this list has been helpful and you now know the most important documents that would be required while applying to Universities in the UK.

If you find this information helpful, share with a friend & tag someone who may be interested.

Thanks for this topic. Is it possible to ask the UK university for a waiver on IELTS or similar tests in the ground that you have successfully practised your profession in English for over a decade and have a Master's degree in Nigeria already? Maybe speak with them on a Skype or zoom call to demonstrate your proficiency in English? Thanks.

Be very very careful about investing your funds in Micro Finance Banks.

It's actually true that you can get 20% for N5m or over BUT you MAY not get your money back at the expiration.

Usually, they come begging you to role over at expiration and if you insist that you must have your money back, then they start telling you stories and give you promises. If at all you will get something back from them, you will be lucky to get only a fraction of your investment and you will be asked to convert whatever you're owed to own share in the company or their board as non sitting director.

This is what a stubborn friend of mine is going through for over 3yrs now and they are owing him over N50m.

So shine your eyes before you leap o and avoid unnecessary suicide because of greed expecially if the money is not yours.

The good thing I know is that you won't come back to tell us here if and when you get your fingers burnt.

Usually, some of them would pay you once or twice to lure you and later come out in their true colours.

Thanks for the heads up, i do not have any money in any MFB, i just suggested an idea i was toying with. With all you have said i think i'll consider other investments.

GTB is one of the worst bank when it comes to FD rates, infact all Tier 1 banks. To enjoy good rates, you need to go to Tier 2 banks like Skye bank. My friend did FD with Skye at 13% as well for 9M Naira. The Tier 2 banks are really in need of deposits so they will always give you higher rates. Infact, some Microfinance bank will give u 18% and above, i am very sure of that. Kindly note that doing FD with Tier 2 banks and Microfinance banks carry more risk when compared to Tier 1 banks.

Anyone looking to do FD should approach Micro Finance Banks, some offer as much as 20% for 5M or more.

Quick update on this...

My banker came back to me and confirmed that there will be no issuance next week. What she meant was that they will start accepting bids for the auction the following week (May 17th) from next week (May 10th).

Okay thanks for the clarification.

I heard that CBN indicated that there will be another bid next week (May 10th). The Q2 calendar did not have anytime scheduled until May 17th. Can anyone confirm that there will be an issuance next week and any additional details regarding that?

I was told same at GTBank today so i already gave instructions for the bid.

ImperialCovfefe:

Rates are going to go lower, still.

1) Different banks with different minimum amounts. Stanbic, First Bank, and FCMB will allow you purchase Tbills with N100k.

2) You can purchase tbills anytime from the banks’ secondary market (kind of informal and opaque) or from the FMDQ OTC using an investment house (such as Investment One, ARM, Afrinvest, or Axa mansard).

The banks will tell you their prevailing secondary market rates for the day. (You can get an indication of the yields to expect by checking the NITTY daily fixing).

The investment houses (at least the good ones) will purchase NTBs for you from FMDQ with a reduction in the discount rates (see attached) representing their charges.

Thanks for your insightful response, in terms of the best rates which do you think i should explore first - The bank's secondary market or head straight to the FMDq's?

This is incredibly low. I went to Zenith bank today to make enquiries and was told i cant buy tbills for less than N1M and that would be in two weeks as auction bids had already commenced. I have a few questions please:

1. I understand some people purchased Tbills worth less than a million (like 100k earlier)? If yes, where can i buy those?
2. I dont really understand the dynamics of primary and secondary market but isn't there a way i can still purchase tbills without having to wait till two weeks again when rates would have reduced further?

Hello All.

I recently got a job opportunity in Lagos and need to sign up with a HMO.

I intend to stay in the Yaba/Ebute Metta/Sabo/Onike axis, however I do not know the standard of the hospital in those areas.

My challenge now is I have a list of hospitals to choose from and was wondering if anyone is available to steer me in the right direction, so I can pick the best one.

Marien Clinic Yaba

Mount Sinai Hospital Yaba

St. Lukes Hospital Yaba

St. Mary's Children Hospital YAbo

Military Hospital Yaba

Cottage Medicare Hospital

I will be grateful if people out there can guide me to making the right decision by reviewing some of these hospitals for me.

Regards.

Hello, I'm facing the same dilemma you had. My options are
1. Jon Ken Hospital, Akoka
2. Cottage Hospital, Iwaya
3. Mount Sinai Hospital Yaba.

You say Cottage is fine so far, are you still using them till now? How are their services and facilities? Thanks.
