iamadonis2:Hello iamadonis2, Thank you so much. If I were to do this again, I’ll choose Germany again. Not because of my love for the country o, but because of everything I’ve been able to learn and unlearn here. Also, I have seen a lot of Nigerians come here and thrive in their respective fields. There are a lot of guys in IT, for instance. So I’ll advice Germany because of the zero tuition opportunity. And for people who want to stay here permanently, the key is the language. Once you have a good mastery of the language, that’s a lot of problems solved! As for settling down, Brussels, Belgium is amazing. The UK is good too because of the presence of Africans. All in all, there are lots of cities that are really good. It just depends on the individual. |
I took my lady to see the Atomium! Still as beautiful as ever! ![]()
|
Also saw the world famous Römisch-Germanisches Musuem in Cologne.
|
We visited the Cologne Cathedral! What a magnificent edifice to behold!

Hello guys, *covers face* I am soooooo sorry! It’s been a minute, I know. But I’ll make it up to you. This week, I went on a little tour of Köln, Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris... And it was amazing! Lots of wonderful memories but top on that list is me proposing to my girlfriend at the Eiffel Tower in Paris! I hope you enjoy the pictures and also forgive me for the sabbatical. ![]()

Hey guys, I was in Brussels over the past weekend and I had the time of my life. Very friendly people, the most amazing historic monuments, very good restaurants... I can go on and on! The only downside was the weather! It was scorching all around Europe al through the weekend! It was beautiful to see lots of interracial couples...a lot more than there is in Germany! Everyone was just having fun! It was wonderful to be in the midst of that positive environment. Let me leave you with some of the pictures from my trip to Brussels, Belgium. I’ll start with Brussels’ Atomium. Very magnificent structure. You’ll love it! ❤️

Döner Guys, let’s talk about the snack that has kept me alive for the past 1 year. ![]() Döner is the foremost fast food in Germany. You’d think it originated from here but no! It originally is a Turkish snack. What am I saying sef. Döner is 100% Turkish. Think of Gala in Nigeria. That’s how Döner is here. And I have had it almost every week since I got here! ![]() I hope you enjoy the pictures I have been taking of different Döners.

Berlin to Brussels! ✈️ More pictures!

Hello guys, ![]() I know it’s been a while and some of you would want to whoop my ass. I thoroughly deserve that tbh. I apologize to each and everyone of you for ‘disappearing’. It is important to make you understand why it all happened that way. Simply put, life happened! In a particular post I made last year about the process of relocating to Germany, my first point was deciding if you really want to relocate to Europe. This is because, it could seem overwhelming for a while at first. One would need to unlearn majority of what has been learnt and start learning new things that would have seem weird in the first place. Brethrens, the process was very difficult for me! Inasmuch as i was somewhat familiar with the most important things, the very simple/easy education of the German culture was difficult for me to grasp. Then school! Then I started working! (Students can work for a limited number of hours) What I wasn’t prepared for was that bookworm like me would fall out of love with school. It got so worse before it got better. (I will make a whole post for this later) So why did I go AWOL? Life o! Life came at me hard. But to be honest, I’d rather not have it another way! ![]() ————————— So I am back to posting about my experiences now! I will scroll through my photo gallery and I’m sure I’ll find pictures and then tell the story behind it. This should be fun, folks. PS: As I’m typing this, I am presently on a flight from Berlin to Brussels, Belgium. My vacation is about to get started. So we will have so much fun together, don’t worry ehn! For the rest of this year, , I’ll be going to Istanbul, Prague, Barcelona, Copenhagen and finally London. I’ll make it up to you! Just stay with me! ![]()

Brodapounds:Hello Brodapounds, With all due respect, it is not a good idea to ask strangers for advice considering you’re about to make a life changing decision. I am based in Germany and tbh, it isn’t rosy anywhere in the world, especially for immigrants. But, Europe and any other first class country is better than Nigeria by a million years distance. Brother, even with the 20m, you’re a sickness away from being broke. Think of your kids (as you’ve said). Does Nigeria have health insurance if things aren’t going well? What safety measures is the government putting in place for its citizens? Kidnapping and robbery are still the order of the day! Police harassment nko? In Germany, there is racism. I am the first to admit that. But the police and the government here will stand by you if you ever make an official report. The community of people here are sane people. They might not like you, but they will tolerate you. There is compulsory health insurance for every resident. The infrastructures here? You can’t stay in Nigeria bro. Now, you will make a decision. Not for yourself or your siblings, but for your future kids. I won’t tell you what that decision should be. I’ll tell you one last thing. A year or two back, I lost a very dear friend to the petrol tanker explosion at Otedola bridge, Lagos. He was in his own car! He works in prestigious firm and makes about half a million monthly! Nigeria killed him so easily. I pray for you to make the best decision for your future. Amen. |
themaestro08:Hello, University of Potsdam is a prestigious university in Germany. Most students I know in Potsdam live around campus but work in Berlin. Tbh, East Germany is still majorly underdeveloped and save for Berlin, it would probably be worse for not just foreigners but black students. However, you’ll find very accommodating people all around you. Cheers. |
Hello guys, I AM SO SORRY! I have been so busy! With school and a bunch of other things actually! I don’t have words to express how sorry I am for the long hiatus! I hope I get to make up for all that though! Yesterday, November 9th was a symbolic day for me and for the whole of Germany. It marked my 50th day here and It marked the 30th year of the fall of the Berlin Wall! It marked when the East and Weat of Berlin came back together and became one! It marked freedom! I was at the Topography of Terror Exhibition with my fellow Heritage professionals and you have no idea how much knowledge we acquired, not only about the Germany then, but about now! The truth about the Adolf Hitler and his right hand man, Heinrich Himmler! I was also at the US Army Checkpoint Charlie. This is the border between the east and west and also for the outcome of the whole Second World War! It is was amazing! ![]() I’ll leave you with a few pictures! I will also upload more pictures from my time here! ![]()

uzedo1:I never for once wish I was still in Nigeria. I don’t think I ever mentioned that anywhere! |
Happy new week guys! ![]() Let me apologize for the long break I had to take! It took a while for me to adjust to my new environment and the new culture! It’s been a lot more than I thought it’d be and I was overwhelmed somewhat! The past 2 weeks was used to complete my enrollment, register in my city, get my transportation pass, attend lectures, register my noodles for the new semester, seminars and more sessions! Jeez!!! It’s been overwhelming to say the least! Also, no matter how prepared you are when relocating to a new country, it would never be enough. Please take this as fact! Not just Germany, but any country at all. I am presently unlearning things I’ve been used to in Nigeria and learning new things relearning old stuffs that would seem useful. The cultural difference between Nigeria and Germany is too huge to describe. From Mode of transport to timings, from Communication to road use, from Refuse disposal to punctuality to appointments, it’s been huge! I promised to document my experiences here in pictures and I still hold on to that. Thank you for following! ![]()

Hello guys, today is an holiday in Germany! It is October 3rd! The day the west and east of Germany agreed to a unification! So except for going with my friend to the train station, I have been home all through!I landed in Berlin on the 21st of September, but had my first taste of life here on Sunday, the 22nd! My friend who picked me up at the Berlin Schönefeld airport took me to some fun places around here. Alexander Platz and the Berlin Cathedral were my favorites! He also bought me Doner Kebab, one of the favorites snacks in Germany. Believe me, I could not eat anything again that night! ![]() Kindly like, share and comment! It goes a long way! ![]()

Hello guys, Happy Independence Day celebrations. You have to forgive me for the delayed updates. School has kept the son of man busy ! ![]() Let’s get back to our talk Biko. Earlier on, I mentioned that I enjoyed my flight from Lagos to Cairo, much more than the flight from Cairo you Berlin. This is due to a lot of reason. Firstly, the aircraft from Cairo to berlin is relatively smaller than the one from Lagos to Cairo. Infact, it was just 2 of us from Lagos who had a connecting flight to Schönefeld airport, Berlin. Secondly, I was super stressed at this point. The previous night while waiting for my room at the hotel Egyptair promised, it took about 3 hours to have that figured out. All that just drained me! Thirdly, I was preparing myself for a new start to life in a new country. The shock was already getting to me as we approached Berlin. And believe me, I still feel overwhelmed till now! The cultural shock is a 100%. More on this later. Nonetheless, let me share pictures from the connecting flight to Berlin! Don’t forget to like, share and drop comments! That motivates kinda! ![]()

Successnoah:Please, I would advice you to take out some time to go through the threads of aspiring German Students here on Nairaland. You need to know exactly what you’re getting into and I cannot make that decision for you. I wish you all the best! ![]() |
Successnoah:Hello Successnoah, You have to stop listening to ‘everybody’! That’s my only advice! ![]() |
Successnoah:You have to submit a travel insurance to the embassy! Then after you get to Germany, you are mandated to get the Health insurance! |
fitlaw:Hello sir, Thank you for the response, but it isn’t the same! Travel health insurance is what the embassy will request from you before you leave here and as part of of your application. Health insurance is what the German government requires of all residents. It is mandatory! @Successnoah |
Emmanuelosa:Hello, The layover is almost 12 hours! |

) it is some made Argentinian sauce with grilled chicken and rice
