My aunty Lola dropped me off at home. My mother was pretty much excited to see me. She had cooked all sorts of delicacies for me. One look at the food had nauseated me immediately. I told her to keep them for later as I was tired, and needed to sleep. Of course, my beloved mother agreed instantly.

I slept and woke up three o' clock in the morning. I realised I had slept for nearly eight hours. I stretched my numb body, and went to the living room. I scrolled through my phone to check for missed calls and messages. I saw three missed calls from Deji, and five others from Gbade. I wondered what they both want from me, as I had already told Gbade point blank I wasn't interested in him, at least not when I'm carrying another man's child. The events from the previous day began to flood my memories.

"Multiple Birth?" I kept repeating.
"Wait oo." I said, speaking to myself. "That means they can even be more than two?"

I laughed till tears started falling down my cheeks. "I'm in too deep already."

I was about retiring into the room to resume my sleeping bout, when I got a congratulatory mail from my father. He congratulated me on becoming a chartered accountant. I had totally forgotten. The results had been released about a month before that time, but he just found the time to send his greetings. I wouldn't blame him, he's a medical practioner. A highly successful and busy one at that, and I'm proud of him. The mail had some goodies attached to it. He said, and I quote.

" Every Individual gets a reward of his hardwork. Your reward is in how much satisfaction you get in your field as a chartered accountant. I am proud of you. Sitting on the centre piece is the key to the gift we as a family have chosen for you. Be wise with it. Congratulations again."

Tears filled my eyes again. How in this world did I let my family down by mingling with such a man. My dad just gave me a car gift, and all I had to give them in return was my pregnant self. I cried myself to sleep. I woke up the next morning still in the same position. My mother on coming out of the room was surprised to see me crashing on the couch.

" Bimbola." She said. "Why are you sleeping on the couch?"

"Good Morning ma." I said. Going on my two knees. I stood up from the position, and went to hug her. "I saw the car gift you and daddy picked out for me. Thank you very much mummy."

"Its no problem my dear. The car was brought in yesterday night after you had gone to bed." She smiled. "You deserve it bimbo. Your siblings look up to you. You've worked hard, and this is the reward. Character wise, you are the kind I'm proud of. Its the least we could do."

It brought tears to my eyes again. I excused myself to clean up. It was a saturday, and my mum was home all through. My new car keys still sat on the centre piece. I needed to escape before they notice the bulge, as it was beginning to get difficult to conceal. As I was stylishly stealing out of the door to leave the house, my mum called me back.

"Bimbola. Come here my dear."

"Mummy what is it?" I asked.

"When will you introduce that boyfriend of yours to me?" She asked.

"Boyfriend? You will meet him when the time comes."
"Hmmm. Yemi and I went through your phone yesterday night, and we saw pictures of this very handsome man. Who is he?"

"You and aunty yemi went through my phone? By the way, where is aunty yemi?" I asked. I wasn't surprised, as my aunty Yemi enjoys prying into other people's business.

"She went out very early this morning. Her friend is getting married today. She had to go there early."

"Okay." I replied.

"So who is the young man?" She persisted.

"Deji." I said answering her. "Mummy, can I go to small mummy's house? But I'll have to borrow your car o."

"The Keys are on the dinning. You go ahead." As I was about to step out of the house, another of Deji's friends Ade called me.

"Hello Bimbola." He said. "How are you?"

"I'm fine Ade."

"I'm surprised you still have my number oo"
"I don't delete numbers you know. So, you called me, what's up?"
"Are you in Ibadan?" He asked.
"Of course I am."
"Look bimbola. I'm in Ibadan. Please can we see? Can you give me the description to your house? Or better still can we meet at an eatery?"

I decided on the eatry option. We decided to hook up at KFC ring road since I was already on my way to that axis of ibadan.

I left the house and drove carefully till I got to ringroad as I was feeling a little bit weak. Traffic was light on that fateful day.

As I neared Mile 110, I got a call from Ade informing me that he was already there. I was a bit suspicious of the arrangement. I knew something was up.

I drove into the car park at KFC. I wound up the glass and got out. As I was about turning to step into the eatery. I stood full face with Deji.

The hospital was at bashorun. A bit close to our house at bodija. There were four nurses on duty. My aunt requested to see the doctor immediately. She did a quick explaination of what happened. One of the other nurses swung into action and took a sample of my blood. My clothes were changed into hospital clothes, and I was directed into a room to lay in wait for the doctor as I was already feeling very tired and dizzy from the loss of blood. The doctor's voice announced her entrance.

"Lola. What's wrong with Bimbola?" She asked my aunty, but her eyes were on me. The Doctor Remi, a very close friend of my aunty was surprised to see me.

"Well, she's pregnant Remi." My aunt replied her. "She called me some few hours back that she was feeling very funny. I met her at the park with blood dripping from her body. I'm not sure if its a miscarriage though.".

Frown lines appeared over the doctor's face. She pressed the lower sides, both left and right of my abdomen. She asked if I felt pains, to which I nodded my answers.

"Are you feeling dizzy? Nauseated? Do you feel like you want to push something out of your body?" She asked.

To every question she asked, I nodded my answers.
I was given some injections to relieve the pains, and then wheeled in for an ultrasound.

"Are you comfortable?" She asked me.

"Yes I am."

She stared work in earnest, drawing the balls over my belly. I wondered what she saw as she kept frowning. Eventually, she asked me to stand up, and try my best possible to walk to her office, which I did. At the office, I got the shocker of my life.

"Lola. She's still pregnant." She said, trying her best to keep facial contacts with both myself and my aunt. "And she's close to her fourth month. From every indication and from the ultrasound I did some minutes back, she's likely to have a multiple birth. That's the cause of the bleedings. Her body is just adjusting to the whole process. I'll suggest she gets registered for ante natal treatments immediately. And come in three weeks time to confirm the results of today's ultrasound scan."

I opened my mouth in shock at all the doctor said.
"Multiple births." I mused. "I don't even know if I can afford a single child not to talk of multiple?"

Fresh tears formed in my eyes. I couldn't hold it any farther, I burst into tears and walked out of the office. Several minutes passed, my aunt finally came out of the doctor's office. She had gone through my stuffs, and handed me a fresh set of clothings to wear. I changed into the clothes, and we both left the hospital.

"What are you going to do now?" My aunt asked.

"Nothing."

I already texted sade all that had happened that afternoon. She was calling, but I wasn't ready to pick. I kept ignoring the calls.

Suddenly, I decided to text Deji and tell him that I lost the pregnancy. I wanted to know what his reactions will be like. I picked up my phone and sent him a text informing him that I lost the pregnancy. Almost immediately, his call came in.

"I warned you earlier didn't I?" He said. " If you had taken the drugs diligently, you won't have to go through all these sh*t." He said.

"Typical Deji." I mused and then said into the phone. " Are you happy now? At least the pregnancy is gone. You can let me live my life, and you live yours." I said angrily.

"Okay. But before we go about our lives, can I see you? If not for anything, for the sake of the pregnancy we lost."

I wondered if the guy was truly alright.

"I'm not in Akure. I'm in Ibadan. If you want to see me, come to Ibadan."
That said. I cut the call.

******CHAPTER FOUR******

I stood up from the bed despite the pains racking through my body. I cocked my ears to the door to listen properly.

"I'm getting scared oo Bimpe. " Sekinat said laughing.

"What exactly are you made up of ooo, Madam Clark Kent." Sade teased.

"See, if you guys can, me I can't take it any more. This guy deserves to be taught a lesson. For me, I'm done being calm." She said with pain in her voice.

I knew Bimpe could be anything though. I wasn't surprised. The kind of guys with whom she rolls were very mean. And the sight of them could be menancing. I knew I had to stop her from involving them. I was quiet the popular, jovial and fun loving babe during NYSC, and I was everybody's friend.

I knew if Bimpe mentions the whole incident to her tough looking friends, they'll take laws into their own hands. I had to step in fast.

"Bimpe." I said coming out of my room. "No. You'll do nothing of such. Please, don't involve any of your tough looking friends. There is enough mess I can take. I don't want additional issues biko." I pleaded.

"Okay then." She conceded. " But I won't allow that idiot called Deji to take advantage of you freely. I strongly believes he needs to be taught a lesson."
Sade sighed and stood up. "Calm down ladies. Let's focus on Bimbola. She needs all the rest she can get now. Tomorrow is another day." She yawned. " I'm going to bed."

"Okay. I want to watch a show on television before going to bed." Sekinat said, adjusting on the rug.

"Same here."

"Sade, is our subscription still on?" I asked intentionally diverting the subject of discussion.

"Its expiring tomorrow. I'll sort it out when I get back from town."

With that, myself and Sade officially retired for the night.

***************************************

"Bimbo." I heard the CDS officer call my name. "What's wrong with you? You look like you're in pains."

"Nothing ma." I said, forcing a smile. " I just feel tired besides I'm on my period."

"Okay my dear." She said, " The more reason you have to hurry up with the rehearsals, so you can get home on time to rest.
We had already spent over three hours at a stretch rehearsing. And the pains were beginning to seriously rack through my abdomen. I quickly beckoned on a CDS member who knew all the routines to help me out with the dance, then I left rehearsals for my house.

Everyone had already left the house to go about their daily businesses. I was greeted by the empty atmosphere in the house. My whole body felt like a train just ran through it. I headed straight for the bathroom to freshen up and prepare for my journey back to Ibadan. I decided to go light with my outlook, so I chose a yellow patterned blouse over a pair of dark brown shorts. I packed my over night case, and left my room. I scribbled down a note informing the ladies that I had travelled to Ibadan, then I left the house.

***************************************

All through the journey back home, I was in deep pain. I kept clutching unto the seats whenever the pains racked through my abdomen. I called my mum, and informed her that I was on my way, and then texted my aunt to describe how I was feeling. My aunt called back instantly, and told me to hang on, and also offered to pick me up at iwo road, as I couldn't tell my mum just yet.

The bus got to the pack at Iwo road, and just as I got down from the bus, blood started dripping all over me. It was dripping so fast, but I was blind to my environment. My eyes were blurry with tears. I just lost the pregnancy.

"Aunty, blood is dripping from your body." The voice said. "Is like you're stained oo."

I could only nod my head. I was hurt. I was in pains. My whole body was on fire, but I needed to be a strong woman. I wondered why something of such could happen to me.

"Where are your things?" I heard aunty lola say. She tapped me to bring me out of my shocked state.

I turned around and hugged her tightly.

"Small mummy. How can this kind of thing happen? Why did it happen? I'm not supposed to loose this pregnancy." I said amidst tears.

"Bimbo. Think of it as God's ways are not our ways." She said. Leading me to her car.

"Still I have a feeling there's nothing wrong with the baby. We'll find out what went wrong at the hospital."

I stared into space, as my aunty left the garage, and headed towards the hospital. I said a short prayer to God to keep my baby safe.

"What do you think you and your friends are doing?" He said in between clenched teeth.

"And what are we doing?"

"Blackmailing me." He retorted. "I loved you, but then its very over now. I don't want that pregnancy, so get rid of it."

"But you're contradicting yourself right now." I said calmly. "You just told Gbade to steer clear of me as I was carrying a child. Your child."

"Look, what I said inside is different from what I'm saying right now. And right now, all I want from you is that you end this pregnancy." He said, a smile rounding the corner of his lips. A heartless smile. "Maybe we'll then continue from where we dropped off right before the pregnancy."

I scrutinized him deeply from head to toe wondering if he was out of his mind.

"Adedeji." I called his attention back to reality. "I'm still standing on my grounds to keep this pregnancy, and take care of this baby. You don't want to have any share of responsibilities over him or her, then you're free. I'm done with you."
He pulled me back and said out loud. "You b*tch."

I couldn't hold it any longer. I slapped him across the face. He looked right back at me with venom in his eyes.

"Bimbola. You sure as hell are going to regret this action of yours." He said, and stormed away.

I cringed as pains shot through my lower abdomen. I wondered what was going on?

I walked slowly back into the house. It didn't surprise me when I saw the ladies leaning towards the door, and listening into my conversation with Deji.

Sade ran towards me when she noticed I was holding my tummy. "Bimbo. What's wrong?"

"Nothing." I lied. " I just feel a little dizzy. Its nothing lots of water and rest won't cure." I said, faking a smile.

The looks on all their faces showed they didn't believe me one bit. Still, Gbade went to get a glass of water for me, and walked me to my room.

I heard Gbade bade the rest of the ladies goodbye and left.

"Ladies." Bimpe said, speaking calmly.
"I think its time I show you all the real stuff I am made of."

Sade and Sekinat gasped. I also caught my breath when I heard her speak those words.

I wasn't in the mood for any guests, but I had to entertain Gbade despite. He struck a chord among my friends, and they warmed to him instantly.

After several hours of eating, drinking and gisting, the ladies decided to take a break and retired to the room. Gbade was still around so I had to stick to the sitting room. I knew something was on his mind, with the way he kept looking at me.

"Have you spoken to Deji now?" He asked.

I rubbed my hands through my face to mask my annoyance.

"Look Gbade. I appreciate your caring streak, but I won't have you ask questions about my personal life. I hardly know you please. " I said, sounding as polite as possible.

"And who says I don't want to get to know you more?"

I didn't know if it was frustration or anger I read on his face, but I must say, I was really stunned by his outburst.

"I want more with you bimbola.". He tilted my chin upwards so I could face him properly. "I don't care if you're carrying someone else's child, I just simply want you?"

"But you can't have her."

We both turned to see who had spoken those words. Deji. We had both been engrossed in our very interesting conversation, we didn't notice someone come in.

Deji had let himself in when he got to the front door, and we didn't even hear the door creak to signal his entrance.

"Oh boy, this isn't going to be good." I muttered under my breath.

"Excuse me?" It was Gbade speaking now.

"I repeat, you can't have her." Deji insisted. "She's already carrying my child, which means she's taken."

I looked on with interest as the scenes unfolded.

"The pregnancy you asked her to get rid of? I mean, who does that? What kind of man are you. You impregnanted a lady, asked her to end the pregnancy, and you even have the guts to threaten her. You are really something. Damn." Gbade cursed under his breath.

"And what business of yours is that? She's pregnant for me. I asked her to remove it. I have my reasons for saying that, and I repeat, its non of your business."

By this time, the ladies had ran out of the room to check what was happening. They were stunned when they saw the events unfolding. Sekinat the ever crazy friend of mine chose that moment to speak.

"Oh, so its non of his business? " She asked, arms akimbo. "Yet you threathen us too? Asking us to warn bimbola to get rid of the pregnancy. You even had the guts to tell her that you're getting married. So tell me "Mr Non of his business" what kind of man are you?" She said with spite.

Gbade gasped. He was apparently surprised at the news of the wedding announcements. I stood leaning on the wall, and watched quietly. I realised I really didn't have to talk, I had such awesome friends in my life.

"Speak for yourself na. Deji, state your claim." Bimpe hissed.
Deji didn't state his claim nor speak for himself. He simply turned to me and said.

"We need to talk, right now!"

With that, he pulled me out of the house.

I drove blindly till I got to the police checkpoint at Francis Okediji Avenue at old bodija in Ibadan. I wondered all through the drive home how a man who claims to love could betray so easily. The police officer on duty tapped at the glass bringing me out of my subconscious.
"Where are you coming from so late in the night?" He asked. The officer on duty was a familiar face, and he seem surprised to see me out so late.

"From challenge." I responded. "I was held up by traffic."

"Next time, we close gates by Nine o' clock oo." He warned. "Open the gates for her."

I drove slowly and "wide- eyed" till I got home. My mother was already worried sick as she had already called my line severally, but I didn't pick.

"Bimbola. Where are you coming from?" She asked sternly.

"I'm so sorry mummy, I went to small mummy's place, and I didn't realise the time." I apologised.
"The more reason you should have picked your calls. " She chided again. "You had me really worried."

"Oya sorry mummy." I said, and pecked her on the cheeks. "I have to go to bed early, as I'm so tired already ma. Can we talk better tomorrow?"

"Of course we can princess." She said, agreeing instantly. "Sweet Dreams."

I had to mask the true way I was feeling, and look very happy in the presence of my mum. Deep inside of me, I was hurting badly. I picked my cell phone and texted my aunty that I was home safe, and also about Deji's call. Her short reply was "It is well."

Sade's calls woke me up from a very restless sleep. She sounded so worried when I picked the call, and I couldn't help but wonder why.

"What is wrong?" I asked the instant I picked.

"Babe, there are two things." She replied.

"Good news or bad news?"
"You will determine that yourself.
"Okay then." I said. "Let's have what's on your mind."

"Firstly, Mrs Daramola requires your immediate attention here in akure for the next two days. She says it has to do with the dance." I knew something like that was going to happen, as I was prepared for it already.

"And the second?"

"Deji came by yesterday." She said slowly. " He said I should personally warn you to steer clear of his life, that he's getting married."
I smiled instantly. "He called me too."

"He thinks I'm hiding you somewhere." She paused and then continued. " Infact, he came in company of his entourage."

I sighed instantly. " I'll be in akure today. I'll call Mrs Daramola and ask her to fix the rehearsals for ten o' clock in the morning till three o' clock in the afternoon. After which I'll be back here in Ibadan."

"Okay." She said. " And what about Deji? Will you see him?"

"Yes." I replied to her amazement.
"We need to talk and issue out warnings in the presence of witnesses."
"That's better. Bimpe and Seki will be here till weekend then." She said. "Please be safe."
I cut the call, got out of bed and went in search of something that will stay in my tummy.

My mum was in the sitting room, reading the papers when I got out of my room.

"Good Morning Ma." I greeted her with a hug.

"Morning dear." She responded. "Is it my eyes, or do you look pale?" She asked.

I was shocked, but I did very well in masking the shock on my face.

"Pale ke? Its because I haven't been feeding well mum." I said, smiling sweetly. "I hardly eat."

"Okay then, now that you're home, I'll ensure you feed very well. Starting from today."

I laughed.

I adjusted my blouse so it doesn't hug to tightly on my body when I sit and reveal the bump. " About that, I have to rush down to akure today for a very important rehearsal at my CDS." My mum looked so disappointed, I quickly added. " But I'll be back tomorrow, and we'll talk as much as you want us too." I smiled sweetly again.

"Okay dear." She replied. "I'll arrange for the driver to drop you off at the park princess."

I smiled my appreciation, and pecked her. If only she knew how deep in trouble her princess was.

I made breakfast of yam and stew, and went to my room to get ready for my journey.

The journey was stress free, as the breeze blowing through the windows made me sleep off. I slept till I got to Akure. The ladies were all home when I got in, we hugged briefly, then I went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. On returning to the sitting room, I noticed the ladies conversing in whispers.

"And what's this all about?" I asked interrupting their conversation."

Bimpe smiled sadly at me. "I'm so sorry about everything." She looked at me with pity in her eyes. "So what are your plans now?"

"Should we go and scatter the wedding?" Sekinat, the always impatient one asked.

"Firstly." I said, settling down on the rug. "I hate pity, it irritates me." I pulled my phone out of my bag and started dialling Deji's number. " No, we won't scatter any wedding."

The phone connected and I spoke into it.
"Good Afternoon Deji." I said.

"Hello." He replied non chalantly. "What can I do to help you?"
"Can we see this evening? Say five o' clock?"
"Yes. But not by that time. Add three hours, and I'll be there." He said conclusively, and cut the call.

I relayed the conversation to the ladies, and as a response, they all hissed.

"Mad man." Seki hissed again, walking towards the door. I didn't realise someone had been knocking on our door, as I was distracted by the call. Sekinat entered the sitting room with our guest, and behold, it was Gbade.
