FamilyMy Husband Gives Me N10 Per Meal To Feed A Family Of Six – Woman Tells Court by midolian(op): 6:04pm On Aug 20, 2016
https://cdn1.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Man-says-wife-must-refund-N1.4m-he-spent-to-marry-her-in-court.png
A married woman, identified as Sidikat, on Friday, approached the Sharia Court of Arbitration in Ibadan to file a divorce suit against her husband, Abdulrasheed Yusuf who allegedly gives her N10 per meal as feeding allowance for a family of six.
According to Vanguard, Sidikat had appealed to the court to dissolve her 18-year-old marriage to Yusuf for alleged maltreatment, infidelity and starvation.

In her explanation to the court, she said: “He was giving me N10 as feeding allowance either as breakfast or lunch because he said he just lost his job.

“Even when he got another job, Yusuf did not change and in fact, the situation worsened as we continued to depend on concoction.

“Yusuf, most of the times fed on bread and egg with sardine while the children and I took gari or eba.

“My lord, right from the beginning of my stay with Yusuf as his wife, I started experiencing different kinds of bad treatment of which starvation was number one.

“Worst still, Yusuf started having sexual intercourse with my younger sister who came to assist me when I was sick and in fact impregnated her.

“My lord, I still managed to endure with him for 10 years and when I saw that things will not change, I moved out of his house.

“As if those are not enough, he could not pay for any of his children hospital bill, let alone mine.

“During our wedding, so as to make things easy for him, I barely requested him to give me my favourite Islamic music cassette as my bride price and I am ready to refund it.”

However, her husband insisted he will stick to his wife forever.

He said, “My lord, till the end of time, I am not parting ways with Sidikat.

“I am ready to welcome her back into my home any day anytime,”

The President of the court, Sheikh Hamad Tirmisiyu, in his judgment noted that it’s such a shameful act for any man to be so irresponsible to the extent of being unable to cater for his household.

He stated that according to Sharia law, the inability of a husband to provide adequately for his family is referred to as a wicked act.

“Obviously, there is no true love between Sidikat and Yusuf because the husband cannot respond to the fundamental issues raised by the wife.

“Accordingly, Sidikat shall refund the Islamic cassette which stood as bride price on wedding day to Yusuf.

“The children shall determine who to stay with between Sidikat and Yusuf.

“In addition, Yusuf shall pay a monthly feeding allowance of N10, 000 for the upkeep of the four children until they are ready to stay with him,” he said.

IslamRe: Reasons Why Memorising The Quran Is Good For Your Brain. by midolian(m): 7:53am On Aug 19, 2016
Kazrem:
The spiritual rewards for memorising the Quran are common knowledge for most Muslims. But knowing that a habit is good for you and starting to actually do it aren’t one and the same. We’ll admit it: It can be hard to get excited about memorising. That’s why we want to give you a slight push in the right direction.

Although you expereince a sense of spiritual reward once you’ve memorised a surah, the act of memorising isn’t up there with more exciting learning experiences like finding out how something works or getting introduced to the work of a brilliant novelist. Memorisation tends to fall short of delivering the rewarding “highs” that entice you to keep ploughing ahead.

Even many educators these days dismiss the value of memorisation, setting it aside in favour of “real” learning. It’s true that simply learning by rote without taking the words to heart is a waste of your mental energy, which is why we at Understand Quran Academy have made it our mission to help you understand the Quran. You should be pursuing real learning, not just mentally recording a bunch of facts long enough to pass a test.

On the other hand . . . memorisation is in fact a very important part of real learning.

We hope that by bringing you some important information we can motivate you to add the habit of memorisation to your Quran studies. Yes, even when we can open our smartphones and read the Quran at any hour of the day or night, there are some major benefits to memorising.

1—Learning something by heart really does mean taking it into your heart, making it a part of you, making the sounds, rhythm, and hopefully the meaning a lasting part of your neurological functioning. And if memorising poetry sweetens your soul and makes you wiser, what spiritual, mental, and emotional blessings can you expect from memorizing passages from The Message?

2—Memorisation is a kind of mental workout. Regularly pushing your mind to memorise passages of text is forcing it to work, thus a good way to keep it in shape. Keeping your mind active helps it function better, both in the short term and long term, even staving off mental decline in your sunset years by improving neural plasticity!

3—You may not always have Internet access. Do you really want to limit your Quran recitations to the times when you have a book, a computer, a smartphone, and a reliable Internet connection?

4—Is there someone out there you need to encourage? Being able to recite the Quran by heart to a discouraged friend, for example, may just turn their emaan around!

5—Memorizing something makes you an expert. For example, the ability to rattle off Surat Al-Asr gives you a special position of knowledge, i.e. the ability to return to this surat as often as you like wherever you are and to share it with others. And what better field of knowledge in which to gain expertise than the Quran?

6—When you discover, problem-solve, and use your creativity— three of the most pleasant ways to learn— you still depend on something called “working memory:” your bank of stored information. The more and the better the information you can store in your working memory, the smarter you you’ll be.

7—Even with lightning-fast Internet connections, remembering something is still much faster and easier than looking it up online or even finding a print copy of the Quran and looking up the surah.

8—When you succeed in memorising something you’ll gain the confidence needed for other mental tasks. Learning special techniques for memorising helps you succeed and develops your skill set even further.

Now make those good intentions a reality and start a memorising program today!

PoliticsAbubakar ‘abusidiq’ Usman: The True Story Of My Arrest By EFCC by midolian(op): 6:22am On Aug 19, 2016
https://tribuneonlineng.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Usman.jpg
Shortly after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) released me from detention last week Tuesday, I said I was going to tell the story of my arrest especially against the backdrop of the claim by the anti-graft agency that I was arrested on ‘’offences bordering on cyber stalking.’’ Today, I am keeping to that pledge and stating details of all that transpired from my arrest, detention, eventual release and what lies ahead.

How It All Began

At about 7.30am on Monday, 8th August, 2016 I heard a knock on the door of my residence in Kubwa, Abuja. I was actually still in bed at the time, so my wife had to attend to the door. Moments later, she came to the bedroom to tell me that there are two men at the front door asking to see me. She also stated that she was unsettled by their disposition. As my wife and two children were in the house, I had no other option than to go to the door and see what the men wanted.

Initially, I moved to the Living Room, and attempted to speak to them through the window closest to the door. “Who are you?” and “What can I do for you?” I asked. The men responded saying that they wanted to see the documents for the Toyota Corrolla car that was parked outside my house. They claimed that there were issues with the car. At this point, I noticed that one of the men had crept to the back of the house – seemingly to ensure that I did not escape. This immediately led me to believe that this unwelcome visitation had nothing to do with the car.

Thinking about my next steps, I went back into the room, asked my wife to get the car documents, then I called my next-door neighbour to inform him of the development and the presence of the at-the-time yet-to-be identified men that were in front of my house. I asked him to please come and serve as a witness, as I did not believe their story. Unbeknownst to me, he was already observing the events, as he had noticed the men creeping around the house for quite some time. My neighbour then came out of the house, which made me feel safe enough to do the same.

It was at this point that the men revealed their identities as police officers on the trail of a stolen Toyota Corrolla car. They said a man had claimed ownership of the car, and they wanted to verify his claim. We were in the middle of this discussion when a Toyota Hilux truck with Police numbering and carrying two heavily armed policemen drove into the compound.

When my wife came out of the house with the original car papers, one of the police officers flipped through the pages, stepped aside to place a phone call to a person that he claimed was his ‘Oga’, then came back into the compound to tell me that the car owner was on his way with his own original documents. We all agreed to wait to verify which of the ‘original’ documents were in fact ‘original’.

A few minutes later, a white Bus with two armed policemen and two men in casual dressing drove into the premises and told the other officers that they could now start their work. While we were still at this, one of my neighbours informed me that there was another armed officer stationed outside the compound. It was also at this point that I got to know that some of the men present were in fact EFCC operatives who had passed the night in a nearby estate – simply to ensure that they kept a close tab on my activities. Another of the men had earlier revealed to me that they had been on my trail describing the car I drove, the clothes that I wore and the places I visited three days preceding my arrest. They actually stalked me for several days prior to my arrest.

At this point, I requested that the men formally identify themselves, and one of them told me that he was an EFCC operative with a search warrant to look around my house. He also added that I was under arrest. A basic perusal of the warrant showed that I was being arrested for ‘Offensive Publications’ against the EFCC and its staff.

Before I allowed the men to execute the search warrant, I demand that the three operatives that were elected to conduct the search were first searched – in order to ensure that they did not plan any incriminating evidence in my home.

During the search, the men turned my entire house upside down and searched every nook and cranny. All this happened in the presence of the neighbour, whom I had requested to be present. While this search was going on, the armed policemen who accompanied the EFCC operatives positioned themselves at every corner outside my house and within the premises, leaving my neighbours wondering what could have been my offence.

At the end of the search, the operatives confiscated my two phones, my laptop, my mobile internet device (mifi), the complimentary cards in my possession, and other items that were clearly unrelated to the spurious offence that they were charging me with. The operatives then took a record of all the items that they had confiscated, hauled me into the Toyota bus, and took me to the EFCC Headquarters in Wuse 2, Abuja.

My Alleged Offence

When the men first came to knock on my door, they alleged that the Toyota Corrola car which belongs to my wife was a stolen car. This changed to what they called ‘offensive publication’ as indicated in the search warrant they produced, but when they eventually released a press statement on the same day of my arrest, they said I was being held for ‘Cyber Stalking.’

It is important to note that in all these, the EFCC failed to specify who or what I was ‘stalking.’ They didn’t even explain to me the details of the ‘cyber stalking’ allegation and what the specific crimes were and till this day, nobody has said anything to me in clear terms what my offence is. It was only at the moment they showed me the search warrant that I was able to deduce that my arrest was in regards to some publications that I had made on my blog abusidiqu.com particularly about the head of the anti-graft commission. The search warrant said ‘offensive publications against EFCC and its staff, but this is clearly not true. They were Ibrahim Lamorde and Ibrahim Magu who incidentally headed or heads the EFCC.

Since 2015, long before the current chairman, Ibrahim Magu was appointed to head the commission in acting capacity, abusidiqu.com published several articles bordering on alleged corruption and complaints by EFCC staff amongst many others. This information were very much in the public space and was not peculiar to abusidiqu.com alone. The searchlight beamed on Lamorde was also beamed on Magu and according to the persons who authored the publications, they saw the need to inform the public of what was happening under the Magu-led leadership of the commission. Contrary to the erroneous impression they may have tried to create, the publications were never about EFCC as an institution neither were they against the staff of the commission. They were about Lamorde and Magu in their individual capacity as heads of the commission.

What is even of more concern is that the EFCC knows that I did not author these publications. They know and have sufficient proofs of who the authors were. I only provided them the platform as a blogger to enable them air their concerns, the same way I have done to so many others including those who have written positively about Lamorde, Magu and the EFCC. Thankfully, one of the authors has come out boldly to say that she authored the articles.

I have asked times without number why Magu feels he should be a judge in his own case by using the EFCC to want to intimidate and harass people because he heads the commission. What has the EFCC got to do with publications that is about him as an individual? At best, the EFCC’s involvement should simply have been to investigate the issues raised by the authors in the articles that I published. If the organization is supposed to be acting on information provided by whistle blowers, is this not a perfect opportunity for the EFCC to investigate Magu, not minding that he is the head the commission? If these publications were to be about a junior staff of EFCC for example, will the commission also be the one to effect arrest on behalf the junior officer? For me, this is just a clear case of using privileged position for the purpose of harassment and intimidation.

My Stay In EFCC Detention

I spent about 36 hours in the custody of the EFCC. The better part of this time was spent during interrogation. They were practically asking me questions they already have answers to. They asked to know if the publications mostly dating back to 2015 were published on abusidiqu.com. They also showed me print outs of the emails which contained the information the authors of the publications sent to me requesting for publishing space. If they already know all this, then what was my arrest for? Perhaps, they wanted something more, reason why they are still keeping all the items they confiscated from my house. As I write this, the EFCC is still holding onto my phones, laptops, internet device and other unrelated documents. They told me clearly that they are going to subject them to forensic analysis which I believe is in breach of my privacy.

What Next

From the above narration, it is clear to me that Magu’s EFCC is in clear violation of the law. Aside granting me bail, they refused to say anything else and have continued to keep possession of my properties many of which contains my private information. So I proceeded to the court for the enforcement of my Fundamental Rights which the EFCC is in clear breach of. My lawyers have informed me that the commission has been duly served and we are now awaiting the court to commence the case.

Findings by security agencies have allegedly implicated the immediate past president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, in the formation and activities of the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, which has claimed responsibility for various cases of bombing of oil and gas facilities.

The intelligence report, which is still being studied by the Presidency, confirmed that oil installations were mined before the May 29, 2015 handover to President Muhammadu Buhari by the immediate past president.

Recall that on the 7th of this month, Jonathan denied having any links with NDA, restating his commitment to the nation’s unity. He spoke in reaction to the claim to the contrary by the splinter militant group, Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, RNDA.

The Nation is, however, reporting that a top intelligence source, who spoke in confidence last night, divulged that the NDA was formed as a Plan B option before the 2015 general election.

The source said the initial plan was to ask the NDA to declare Niger Delta Republic immediately after Jonathan’s defeat, but the ex-President was believed to have prevailed on the group to shelve the idea.

The NDA was said to have been resuscitated after the Federal Government launched a massive probe into the mismanagement of the oil sector.

The revelations from the probe were said to have overwhelmed the ex-President, who felt he and ex-First Lady, Patience Jonathan were being targeted.

The source was reported as saying: “We have intelligence report that it is true that the ex-President has been meeting with the NDA militants before the general election.

“The initial plan was to declare Niger Delta Republic after Jonathan’s electoral loss but the NDA members were taken aback when the ex-President conceded.

“Findings confirmed that the ex-President and others being probed, resuscitated the NDA plan when the Federal Government initiated a probe into the oil sector.

“We suspect that the ex-President is afraid that the way the investigation in the oil industry was going, he and his wife will be questioned.

“The fact that some of the conditions put forward by the NDA, including not going after Government Ekpemuopolo Tompolo, and stopping investigation of all corruption probes, have confirmed some of the intelligence.”

The anonymous official further stated that: “Intelligence report also showed that the evidence of the attacks of oil installations was planned before May 29. The NDA and other militants had mined these installations before the handover.

“But following the probe of the oil sector, they were mandated to start detonating it.

“Intelligence report also indicated that a former Coordinator of Amnesty Programme Kingsley Kuku and a former National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh might have played some key roles in the formation and operation of NDA,” the source added.

However, both Metuh and Kuku have also denied any role in the activities of the Avengers.

When contacted by the newspaper, a high-ranking government source, who asked not to be named, said: “It has been known in government circles that Jonathan may be behind the NDA. The speed with which he denied the allegation spoke volumes.

“Despite the denial, the allegations have refused to go away.

“His allegation that MEND is after him is to divert attention from his roles as the mastermind of the NDA. His morbid fear of being investigated alongside his wife is behind what is going on. Investigation has revealed massive looting under his administration. His alarm was just to pre-empt being probed.”

Meanwhile, the August 7th statement issued by the former president’s media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, denying having any connection between Jonathan and the notorious group, reads, “For the avoidance of doubt, we are fully convinced that such an idiotic claim is too cheap a narrative, a facile contrivance so badly concocted that any discerning mind would easily see through its disingenuous and duplicitous nature.

“Since it is not in our place to speak for all those named in the obvious fabrication, we are only intervening to the extent that its hidden intent poses a violent threat to the life of former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, a committed patriot who the Almighty God has given the grace and good health to rededicate his life to the service of humanity, after serving his dear nation as President to the best of his abilities.

“We are also not bothered by this baseless accusation, contented that we are not the only ones conversant with Jonathan’s widely-acknowledged sincere disposition to peace, non-violence and better human community.

“We are however seized by the feeling of déjà vu occasioned by the resurrection of one dim character masquerading as ‘Cynthia White’, who had in the past served as the spokesperson for a notorious group that had all along shown its hand to be going after the life of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

“Nigerians could recall that in 2007 when Jonathan emerged as the running mate to the late President Umar’ Yar’Adua in the People’s Democratic Party during that year’s presidential election, this very group invaded Yenagoa with hundreds of militants in an effort to assassinate him.

“Jonathan was only saved then by the spirited efforts of the combined forces of determined security men, who gallantly repelled the attack.”

The first Nigerian schoolgirl from Chibok to be rescued from Boko Haram says she misses the father of her baby, a suspected Islamist militant.
In her first interview since being found with her baby in May, Amina Ali Nkeki told Reuters she also wanted to go home to Chibok, a town in the north.

She and her child are being held in the capital, Abuja, for what the government calls a restoration process.

More than 200 girls were kidnapped from a school in Chibok in April 2014.

The abduction led to the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, that was supported by US First Lady Michelle Obama and Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai.

The Boko Haram group has waged a violent insurgency for several years in north-eastern Nigeria in its quest for Islamic rule.

Ms Nkeki was found three months ago by a vigilante group in a forest with suspected militant Mohammed Hayatu, who identified himself as her husband, and their child of four months.

The 21-year-old said she was unhappy about being separated from Mr Hayatu, who was arrested after they were found.

“I want him to know that I am still thinking about him,” she told Reuters. “Just because we got separated, that does not mean that I don’t think about him.”

During the interview she only lifted her gaze from the floor once to breastfeed her daughter when the baby was brought into the room, Reuters reports.
“I just want to go home – I don’t know about school,” she said. “I will decide about school when I get back.”

Her mother, Binta Ali, told the BBC Hausa service earlier this week that her daughter wanted the government to give her a sewing machine so she could become a seamstress.

She said the man claiming to be her daughter’s husband had said he was a mechanic from the town of Mubi before he was captured by Boko Haram – and that he had organised their escape.

Earlier her brother had told the BBC that because of an increase in air strikes Mr Hayatu was no longer willing to continue fighting and they had planned to leave together.

Ms Nkeki said she had not watched the video, released by Boko Haram on Sunday, which apparently shows recent footage of some the other missing Chibok girls.

“I think about them a lot – I would tell them to be hopeful and prayerful,” she said. “In the same way God rescued me, he will also rescue them.”

If your sister happened to be one of the chibok girls and you saw her alive in the just released video, would you make this same comment?
A Nigerian life should be worth more than dust and flippant words online. That's why the American nation waxes stronger all the time and are the envy of everyone including you. An American life matters much. In warfare, there are more means than one to get the job done and yet keep casualty at a minimum.
oh pls shut it! I expected someone to mention me and come up with this same pathetic boring lines.."If your sister bla bla bla"..why not use your head and see things like every smart person shld?

You think Americans will tell you the number of innocent souls they kill during operations? Guy, just use your heaÐ

Oh! Animals too now have feelings.. Soo touching! Overnight, Shekau has transmogrified into a caring father..lool cheesy

Personally, I am of the opinion we continue with the airstrikes. Its dealing them a heavy blow. The m0r0ns are really feeling the heat and this is their way of passing the message.

These bloodsuckers can't continue to use our innocent girls as shield while they destroy their lives. I believe by now, many of them will prefer to die than to come back home to live a normal life. May the affected ones Rest in peace.

In Orubebe's voice, we shall continue our airstrikes
