PDP why? Why? angry

When will this party be mentioned for something good? angry

When will this corruption-stricken umbrella party mean well for Nigeria? This shows that even if PDP rules Nigeria for a 100yrs, as long as you belong to the party or you favour the party in anyway, you are above the law.

If bukky's wife goes scot-free, this same useless PDP will be the one accusing buhari of being bias in his anti-corruption fight. Na so Olisa metuh,(with that hin mouth wey be like fowl yansh) go gather press dey talk rubbish. Nairaland PDP sef go dey write empty articles as usual.

So before now they weren't bombing innocent people?

Buhari fans are just terrible
what the hell is wrong with u guys? Aside bombing innocent pple, when last have u heard of any abduction by boko haram? When last have u heard of boko haram confronting our soldiers in a battle? Their main aim now is just to do as much damage as possible for pple to believe they are still strong. Did I say they don't kill innocent pple b4? My point is "killing innocent pple is strictly their business these days(since Buhari took over) by means of suicide bombing".

Now who is terrible? Is it me that just made an obvious point OR u, that prays for the terrorist group to keep waxing stronger jst so u can have a reason to call the president names?
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Can No Longer Confront Nigerian Soldiers – Major General by midolian(m): 8:03pm On Jul 26, 2015
Obviously..And that's why they've resorted to bombing innocent citizens. Many won't see this as a sign of weakness, but it is.

Gone are the days when the insurgents will go to the military barracks to reduce our soldiers.

That is poignant. They are DNA to hate anyone or anybody that they perceived to have in hand in defeat of Biafra and now the defeat of GEJ.
They have innate hatred for Northerners and Islam and anyone they see as a Muslim.
They hate Yorubas because they see them as the stumbling block in their quest for a southern support for their Biafran agitation.
As if you knw what I was going to add to my comment. Remain blessed
PoliticsRe: Why Does Igbo People Hate Buhari Administration?- A Call For Unity by midolian(m): 4:40pm On Jul 26, 2015
They have never supported anything that will move Nigeria forward. You know most of them are biafra agitators(some became when GeJ lost @ the polls) that see Nigeria as a zoo. GEJ succeeded in making them see the northerners and the south westerners as their enemies. Only time(a long time though) can correct this.

PoliticsWhy Buhari Didn’t Appoint Igbos As Service Chiefs — Oyegun by midolian(op):
Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been on the hot seat since his party emerged as the ruling party in Nigeria. Seeing the former Permanent Secretary, last week, at his residence in GRA, Benin-City, you will behold a troubled man. He bared his mind on the leadership crisis in the National Assembly.
According to him, those accusing the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of being slow are unfair. Oyegun also spoke on other national issues. Excerpts:

People are complaining that this APC government is slow. What is happening?

No, I don’t think the government is slow. Like I always say, we are not talking of 16 years, we are talking of over 50 years. Since independence, this country has been ruled by the same tendencies. So, it is good to go with deliberate speed, deliberate steps, make as few mistakes as you can  in the appointment that will come. So, I think that process is nearing the end now. As you can see, appointments are being rolled out, the activities people thought were slow are taking place, even the implementation of some aspects of the program of the party that we promised are already underway.

I think all that is left now is the list of the ministerial appointees and it will come out anytime from now and we will be up and running. So, there is the need for us to be cautious, given the fact that this is our first experience in governance. There is the need to be careful given a totally different nature of our manifesto and the social welfare promises that were made to the people to be sure that those the president wants to bring in to execute these policies, which are dramatically different from anything we have experienced before, are also dramatically different, they understand what is required to be done, are passionate about what is required to be done and have ideas about what is required to be done. Once  prime appointments are settled, things will move. The issue of insecurity is being addressed, the war on corruption has started in various parastatals; the government is already very well on steam.

Are we going to see technocrats or politicians in the cabinet?

It will be a mixture of technocrats and politicians. There are politicians who are technocrats, we seem to forget that, but it will be a fair mix.
The leadership of the party is yet to the come to the reality of the emergence of  Senator Saraki and Hon. Dogara. How long will it take to come to the reality and stay with the fact?

I think the reality is there. I don’t think there is any leader who doesn’t realize that Hon. Dogara and Senate President Saraki are a  reality and facts of life, but there is also no leader in the party that doesn’t recognize that this went against the basic position of the party and that has created problems.

The issues border on discipline, supremacy of the party and the rest of it. We are hammering on indiscipline and, at the same time, creating an environment that everybody within the party will find comfortable to work with. I hope, by the end of this last week, we would have arrived at some workable arrangements to put these issues behind us, but it has attracted this attention because, so to speak, it was the only subject in town. Now there are other issues that are beginning to engage the media and we will get a little bit less attention to what is going on in the National Assembly.

Lack of appointments for the South-East and South-South

Why does the public think that if you appoint three people it must be balanced when, in fact you are just at the elementary stage of appointments? They should hold their breath for a little time to come. The ministerial list has not come, the chairmanship of boards has not come, there are so many first rate appointments that are still coming down the line, the ones that has happened are more or less specialized, they are more or less appointments that have some degree of severity governance around them. If you talk about the security agencies, you must pay due attention to the requirement of this time, the reality of the security situation in the country.
So it is unfair to make three appointments, everybody expects to see one from A, one from B, one from C; no, it is the total package. It is when the total package is presented that you will now start looking at who is in what ministry, the status of the ministry and the caliber of the ministry. It is then you can really now make a fair assessment. It is still too early and the appointments we have made now are too specialized for us to jump to that kind of conclusion.

Talk about Nigeria going into dictatorship/strangulating PDP

Well, I will need to see one example. We don’t have time for them (PDP) yet, all that we are doing today is to put ourselves on the ground, put the government in place so that we can start responding to the yearnings of the Nigerian people. PDP hasn’t put itself together yet, so they are no source of concern to anybody. I don’t know what they have to cite to substantiate that issue and I can’t think of any. grin

Leech, if you had an I.Q one-seventh the size of a proton, you'd be rational enough to realize that those being probed are seemingly those who are from or who are sympathetic to the cause of the arch-rival political party which is the PDP.

Purely incidental or schemed?

How come close associates of PMB like Fayemi who spent #50 million on a single bed or Timipre Silva who also funded PMB's election campaigns aren't being probed?

Purely (co-)incidental or schemed?

Keep mastùrbating to the delusion of your foolhardiness.

PoliticsAnti-corruption War: What Do Nigerians Really Want? by midolian(op):
Every Nigerian agrees that corruption is a cog in Nigeria’s wheel of development and want President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the scourge head on. But most Nigerians seem divided on where the anti-corruption war should begin. Michael Oche writes on the uneasiness breeded by Buhari’s anti-graft battle.

Few days after President Muhammadu Buhari declared his intention to probe alleged illegally withdrawn of $2.1b from the Excess Crude Account (ECA), a group known as Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI) described the president’s decision to probe the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan as a blackmail and witch-hunt.

Though the group said it is “not against probing corrupt leaders in the country, but it must not be centered on Jonathan and his cabinet alone”.

Also, few days after agents from the Department of State Services (DSS) raided the home of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, on allegations of money laundering and treason, supporters of the former NSA described the action of president Buhari as being vindictive against the former NSA because he was the one who led solders to arrest him in 1985.
Indeed, where and how President Buhari decides to begin his anti-corruption war seem a big burden on his administration.

“We expect the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government not to embark on selective probing of public office holders found wanting before or during his government,” Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesperson Olisa Metuh said recently.
Though, Metuh agreed that “Corruption is a crime against the people, the nation and our Constitution,” he also pointed out that “If your hands are clean, you will not be afraid of any probe.”
Since President Buhari declared his readiness to probe past officials, words like ‘blackmail’ and ‘witch-hunt’ have suddenly found their way into Nigeria’s political lexicon.

Analysts and commentators all agree that the president has no choice but to recover stolen funds, if he hopes to raise enough money. But the question is, how can the present administration approach the issue of corruption without being seen as selective or vindictive?

“As is often said, he who comes to equity must come with clean hands. The advantage for Buhari is that Nigerians consider him a man of integrity. The president must take advantage of this,” president of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ibrahim Khalel told LEADERSHIP Sunday.

A public affairs analyst, Sunday Ajala, also said, “The truth is Nigerians are always going to be sentimental. In this country there is a lot of sentiments attached to religion and ethnicity. The last administration of president Jonathan helped to polarise this country along religious and ethnic lines. Now, and unfortunately, whatever you do in this country, no matter how sincere, is judged along this line. But president Buhari has an opportunity because he has the backing of  the majority of Nigerians. The truth is every Nigerian is tired of the level of corruption and want to see change. That was why they voted for him. People must be brought to book, irrespective of their political, religious or ethnic affiliation”

The problem of funds embezzlement was one of the major focuses of Buhari’s presidential election campaign. The APC candidate vowed to put an end to public funds stealing. After his swearing-in, Buhari on numerous occasions, reiterated commitment to his ideas.

Analysts say there is evidence that President Muhammadu Buhari is gradually succeeding, as his anti-graft war has started yielding results. The country’s foreign reserves has improved, some ex-governors have been arraigned on charges of corruption while some of the nation’s refineries have begun to work.

On his part, the president of the Nigeria Union of Local Governemnt Employees (NULGE), Ibrahim Khaleel, counselled the president to ensure that there are no sacred cows in the fight against corruption.

“Justice, like they say, is blind. President Buhari must be blind to region, ethnicity or religion
If you are caught and found guilty, you must face the law. By the time he approaches corruption that way, Nigerians will believe him. It is this position and approach that will make Nigerians more comfortable. I am very happy with the statement he made while in the US, where he said he would not spare even his party members. Now, he must match his words with action. Nobody is happy with the level of corruption in the country.’’

Also speaking during a courtesy visit to the president of the Senate, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, Ayuba Wabba, said: “President Buhari disclosed that in the last decade alone, over $150 bn of our commonwealth was stolen by public officers and stashed away in foreign banks.

‘‘Amidst these developments, the feeling and perception of Nigerians is that our anti-corruption laws are either overwhelmed or do not have the requisite edge to respond to the renewed assault on our collective conscience by those taking advantage of their position to steal and loot our commonwealth, without any qualms.”

He lamented that corruption cases being handled by our anti-corruption agencies are taking too long –some having gone on for as long as seven to nine years – are often thrown out, not for lack of merit or points of law but on mere technicalities.

“For Nigerians to regain confidence in our anti-corruption agencies and the judicial process, high profile corruption cases need to be more diligently and competently handled and dispensed with more quickly and timely at the level of the courts.

“The NLC believes that the National Assembly has a key role to play in ensuring that justice is not only done but truly seen to be done. One of the most credible ways of doing this is by strengthening the existing anti-corruption laws, so that people who steal our collective wealth can be brought to justice far much quicker than we presently have.

Corruption will reduce once people know that there is no hiding place for those who perpetuate it and that corrupt enrichment will not necessarily be able to buy them freedom from the long arm of the law. Conviction of perpetrators of corrupt practices is how corruption is being tackled in other climes, where they have fought it and brought it to a standstill.”

On his part, an executive director of Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre(CISLAC), Auwal Rafsanjani, said the war on corruption must be total.
[b“The fight against corruption must begin from somewhere. It must begin from somebody’s doorstep.
“In my opinion, the president is not selective. I am happy that people from his political party have been invited for questioning. Otherwise, people will say he is selective

“I think in the fight against corruption, cannot be selective. It will be a disaster for him and the good will he enjoys both locally and internationally. The fight against corruption must be total.

“We have seen some APC members arraigned. Even some people who don’t belong to any political party have been arraigned. He should go ahead and ensure that those who have looted this country are brought to book to serve as deterrent to others.

“In my opinion, what president Buhari needs to do is to ensure that government puts more efforts and carries out thorough investigations before anybody is arraigned. Otherwise, it will just be like in the past where corruption is fought on pages of newspapers.”

He adviced citizens to be involved in the anti-corruption war, stressing that it cannot be left to law enforcement agencies alone.

Another commentator, Kalu Uche, said, “I don’t believe the president is selective. What Nigerians want is result  and the buck stops at the president’s table. Most of those crying fool are only trying to blackmail the president. We know they are hirelings. Every genuine Nigerian who is interested in the development of the country wants to see the president fight corruption”
