Politics › Open Letter To IPOB By Charles Ogbu by midolian(op): 5:34pm On Jan 06, 2019 |
Brethren, I bring you greetings.
It is beyond argument that, through the agitation for Biafra which you lead, you, The Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) have brought both local and international attention to the plight of Ndigbo in Nigeria. You have raised our consciousness to a level never seen before. In the face of naked brutality and state terrorism, you have stood tall, refusing to bow to tyranny. Your members have paid the ultimate price for the emancipation of the people of old Eastern region from the clutches of Nigeria, a country that is deaf and dumb to the sanctity of human lives. Above all, you have resisted the urge to go violent, remaining peaceful, even in the face of demonic provocation from the Muhammad Buhari led government. For these, my gratitude is yours.
But,I have not come to offer you gratitude. I have come to convey to you my concerns in areas I reasonably believe you are progressing in error and offer unsolicited advice as an Igbo man and a stake holder in the Biafra project. Just to be very clear, this letter is for the sake of posterity, seeing as we are all before history and will be judged by it.
1) The Biafra agitation IS NOT a quest for vendetta against Igbo politicians, Ohaneze Ndigbo and other Igbo non-IPOB members who may not share your method on Biafra in toto even when they may completely share the underlying message of your agitation. The Biafra agitation is a people's cry against state-sponsored killings and other forms of institutionalized injustices. A quest for freedom to self determine our future and explore our potentials. That the Igbo leadership collective has not lived up to our expectations as youths is not in doubt. But a wise man must first catch Mr Vulture before asking him the name of his Barber. K'anyi zotagodi ana tupu anyi azowa ute.
2) To preside over a people, exercise any authority over them or even agitate for anything on their behalf, you must first understand them. Sometimes I fear that some of you, especially the online warriors, do not really understand the Igbo so well. Ndigbo are natural parliamentarians with a deeply rooted republican default setting. A very proud people. And they like debating every issue and having every man contribute his opinion before a conclusion is reached. This is the only way the conclusion can be binding on them. Plus, they don't give anyone, not even the gods, absolute loyalty or trust. They can shout "Hosanna To The Highest" for you today but they won't hesitate to gift you with "Crucify Him, Crucify Him" song the next day if they feel you are no longer serving their interest. Even if an Igbo man knows that you are taking him to heaven for a one-on-one with God, he will still need you to explain to him, in full detail, how you intend to do the journey and even after your explanation, he will not just close his eyes and allow you carry him in a wheelbarrow to God. He will want to walk the road to heaven with you, with his eyes wide open, maka adighi ama ama. That is who the Igbo man is. Most importantly, you don't order him around.
This foray into who the Igbo man is, is as necessary as it is strategic, to enable us have a better understanding of the people for whom we are agitating for Biafra.
3) If a non IPOB Biafran expresses divergent view on any issue concerning the Biafra agitation, questions your method or voices concerns about any of your activities, do not be so quick to shut him up, insult him into silence, character-assasinate or bully him while spraying the "Sabo" tag on him like the anti-mosquito thing called "Raid". You cannot insult an Independent Biafra Nation into existence neither can you character-assasinate your own people into submission. Everytime you insult people for asking question or refusing to follow your method without question, you create the wrong impression that the Biafra you are fighting for will be one in which free speech will be outlawed and people branded Saboteurs simply for owning and expressing divergent views on issues affecting them. Remember, the Biafra you are fighting for will not be for your members only. And if it is for all of us, how can one be a Saboteur simply for asking question or disagreeing with your method?? Being a member of IPOB does not make you more Biafran than other Igbo non IPOB members just as insulting people does not make you a hardcore IPOB members.
4)Whatever you do, however you do it, please DO NOT boycott election, especially your own states elections UNLESS you are ready to go violent. The only two means of securing an independent Nation is through the Political process or war. Any other thing aside this two is what the Igbo call 'Ajambene'. No one will take you seriously, no one will fear you, and surely, no politician in Igboland will lose sleep over your activities UNTIL you put your numerical strength into use and prove that you can punish your enemies and reward your friends with your vote. Political power is everything. The man who holds it can determine when you should sleep and wake up. If you can't use your numerical strength to change political terrorists in Biafra land and replace them with real Igbo Patriots who will at least use their States Attorney Generals to ensure your members are not thrown into jail simply for holding a flag, your journey to the land of the rising sun will remain an endless one because the truth is, the second biggest tragedy of Ndigbo is the tragedy of leadership.
If you cannot control your own homogeneous Igbo Nation, politically, with all your much touted numerical strength, you simply cannot extricate Biafra from Nigeria. Before preaching Boycott, do well to ask yourself the gain from the boycott of the 2006 census as championed by MASSOB. After boycotting the last Anambra governorship poll, did it exempt you from Governor Willie Obiano's policies?
5)For any agitation to succeed, the agitators must balance Emotion (passionate commitment) with Reason. Before taking any steps, the first question you must always ask yourself is, how will this step take me closer to my target. And seeing as a Referendum date is your target, your question should be, HOW WILL ELECTION BOYCOTT HELP BRING THE MUCH NEEDED REFERENDUM FOR BIAFRA? The answer to the above question should be your guide.
It is an unjust world we live in. No one but us is coming to save us. Nigeria is a sovereign "Nation" with enough black liquid to bribe away the eyes of the international community from our plight. The United Nation is an assemblage of Nations full of flowry speeches but devoid of conscience. In the midst of well documented ethnic cleansing the Cameroonian sit-tight leader, Paul Biya is carrying out against the people of Southern Cameroon, the same UN "rewarded" Paul Biya with a seat at its Human Rights council. Syria yet burns in a senseless war being fueled by member States of the same UN. They care about one thing and one thing alone: Their Interest. The US is no different. The way and manner the US President, Donald Trump placed his country's business interest with Saudi Arabia over and above the need to get justice for Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi journalist allegedly butchered by the Saudi Authorities says it all.
lastly, brethren, I understand that due to the emotional attachment we have for Biafra, some of you might feel uncomfortable with this piece but I assure you, I bear nothing but love for you all and it is because of that love that I have refused to allow you be like 'Eze Onye Agwana m' who was busy dancing naked while mistaking laughter directed at his unclothedness for cheers for his dancing prowess.
We cannot stop the Nigerian rain from falling but we can at least take measures to stop ourselves from being beaten by it.
Love From Charles http://saharareporters.com/2019/01/06/open-letter-ipob-charles-ogbuhttps://secure.saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/styles/normal_medium/public/IPOB-biafra-1-1000x570.jpg?itok=mr9Ioce7 |

I don't know how naming the hospital after Buhari affects the sales in your shop... Politics › Offa Robbery: Saraki Reacts To Lai Mohammed’s Release Of Evidence by midolian(op): 2:18pm On Jan 03, 2019 |
The Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to Senate President, Yusuph Olaniyonu, on Thursday stated that if there is any doctored version of the Christmas Day radio interview by his boss, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed, who presented it should be asked where he got it from.
Accusing Mohammed as being the author of such a doctored recording, Olaniyonu in a statement in Abuja, stated that the radio stations were simply instructed to do a repeat broadcast of the interview following the requests by stakeholders at various meetings held by the Senate President around the state.
“Nobody produced another tape or instructed anybody to edit any part of the tape and nothing like that was done. That is why the same instruction was passed to all the stations, including Harmony FM, which is under the supervision of Mr. Lai Mohammed and the Sobi FM owned by an APC gubernatorial aspirant. The Sobi FM did not air the repeat broadcast because they said they had another Programme scheduled for that Sunday morning.
“On my way to Pategi town in Kwara North Senatorial District that Sunday morning, I listened to the repeat broadcast on the car stereo and the area concerning the Offa case was clearly there. If there was any plan to doctor or edit the tape, would we do such a thing with Mr. Mohammed’s Harmony FM or propose that to Sobi FM whose position is well known to us? So, if Mohammed suddenly created and produced a recording of the interview different from what was repeated by the four radio stations on December 30, 2018, then he should be asked how and where he got it”, Olaniyonu stated.
He added that it was good that Mohammed at least admitted that Dr. Saraki donated N10 million to people in Offa but that the money was meant for the traders that lost goods in the inferno that razed the market in the town and not for the victims of the robbery incident.
“I remember as a member of the Senate President’s Delegation to the Olofa of Offa’s palace to commiserate with the people on the sad incident of the robbery that it was during that visit that Mrs. McCarthy, the secretary of the Offa Development Union (ODU) raised the issue of the earlier incident on the market fire incident and Dr. Saraki promised that N10m would be made available the following day.
“The question people should ask the Minister is: How much has he ever donated to provide succour for the people of Offa for whatever purpose? He is only trying to draw political capital from the sad occurrences that happened to his own people. We are not unmindful of the fact that he continued to talk about the Offa incident as a way of playing cheap politics on the misfortune that befell some people. We urge him to move on to talking about what development projects he has brought to Offa as a member of the Federal Executive Council representing Kwara State”, he added.
The aide to the Senate President noted that while the information Minister continues to grand-stand over a dubious and Pyrrhic victory recorded by his party in a bye- election in which he led security agencies to inflict violence on his people, the results had only produced an illegitimate legislator who is largely shunned and viewed with scorn by members of his community.
“We are not surprised that a ‘visiting’ politician like Mr. Mohammed found it strange that Dr. Saraki held meetings with canvassers and stakeholders across the local government areas during the Christmas holiday. As a grassroots mobilizer, this is what he has always done since he first contested in an election in 2003. Well, a Lagos based, ‘seasonal’ politician like the minister would not know. Now, he should know that the electioneering campaign in Kwara State is always done on ward to ward basis and not by staying in Abuja or the state capital. As a matter of fact, the campaign is yet to begin.
“At this point, Mr. Mohammed should tell the public which faction of APC he belongs to in Kwara State because the last time we checked, he is a member of the Bolarinwa faction which has been declared illegal and all its activities and candidates nullified by the Court. He should let us know if he has now joined the Balogun-Fulani faction or as he is fond of doing, he will simply stay in Lagos and be a poll observer in the coming elections. As he struggles to answer the above questions, let it be known that this will be my last word on this issue”, Olaniyonu stated. http://dailypost.ng/2019/01/03/offa-robbery-saraki-reacts-lai-mohammeds-release-evidence/https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2018-06-02-PHOTO-00000021.jpglalasticlala |

2019: Why Atiku, PDP must ‘throw-in towel’, endorse Buhari for second term – Keyamohttps://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Keyamo-1024x681.jpgThe spokesperson of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo, on Wednesday challenged the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to “throw-in the towel” and endorse President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term.
He said this while accusing Abubakar of resorting to “desperation and deceit” in his campaign.
Keyamo called on Abubakar and the PDP to apologise to Nigerians for spreading false tales.
He was reacting to PDP’s allegations that Buhari was diverting funds meant for the procurement of military equipment to finance his 2019 re-election campaign.
In a statement, Keyamo said: ”The widely published refutal by investors in Etisalat and Keystone Bank that the family members of President Buhari have nothing to do with both companies is another indication of the fast-collapsing campaign of the Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and that of the PDP.
“The result of the fact-check, which was published in some news outlets, clearly shows the depth of desperation, deceit and debauchery to which the Atiku campaign has sunk.
“They have no moral compass, no scruples, no direction in their present attempt to smear just everyone in sight in order to run a campaign of ‘we-are-all-corrupt.’
”Rather than respect the feelings of Nigerians by offering clear-cut responses to straight-forward allegations of tax-evasion, grand corruption in and out of office, impending sealed indictment waiting for him in the US, Atiku Abubakar has decided to drag the world down with him as he goes down in a blaze of infamy. He has decided to go wild with wild, unsubstantiated allegations against the President and Vice President.
” This is the classic hallmark of a sinking campaign boat, clutching at straws, as Nigerians have woken up to the realisation that these are deceitful people who have nothing to offer…
“We call on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the PDP to apologize to Nigerians and especially the family of the President for adopting this unwholesome tactics and telling tales by moonlight that have clearly backfired.
“Instead of making a mockery of a serious campaign with such infantile lies, Atiku Abubakar should admit it is all over for him and the PDP, throw in the towel and endorse the candidacy of President Buhari.” http://dailypost.ng/2019/01/02/2019-atiku-pdp-must-throw-towel-endorse-buhari-second-term-keyamo/ |
Politics › Articulated Lies Don’t Win Elections by midolian(op): 3:47pm On Jan 02, 2019 |
https://i1.wp.com/leadership.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/atiku.jpg?w=1200&ssl=1You don’t have to be a psychologist to see through the phoney personality stunts with which the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar is desperately struggling to get noticed by Nigerians.
Quite apart from the PDP’s legacy of political liabilities that have rendered it an abomination for a return to power, Candidate Atiku’s baggage of political and occupational contraband just cannot get clearance from Nigerians whose eyes have been shining with renewed focus on best attributes of the leader the nation needs since President Buhari’s 2015 emergence changed the agenda radically.
Suddenly, Atiku Abubakar has become a fanciful dancer, shifting and shunting his retired and tired body with visible stress that raises eyebrows and heart beats of surprised spectators. Amazingly, Atiku Abubakar has gate-crashed into the youthful constituency, donning face caps and T-shirts and cajoling his grandchildren to adopt him as an “uncle” instead and let him take them back 16 years.
He has even gone to the extent of mesmerizing his relentless tormentor, with a little help from marabouts, no doubt, and turned the predator of his political fortunes into an unapologetic promoter of his last-ditch presidential bid!
Atiku Abubakar has therefore grabbed the guts to manipulate our collective memory and hoodwink the gullible into actually seeing him and his polluted party as the sole solution to the still lingering myriad problems dumped on the Buhari Administration in 2015. But all right-thinking Nigerians reflecting on these articulated improbabilities, will realize that they are all outcomes of Atiku’s inordinate ambition to rule Nigeria by all means necessary as the icing on the personal cake he has been baking at the national bakery since he was unceremoniously catapulted from provincial to vice-presidential orbit in 1999.
Since then, we have been witnessing Atiku Abubakar’s comprehensive capacity for make-believe, including but not limited to the attempted political subordination of Nigeria’s presidency by gang-up of governors and when that was subsequently squelched by sheer resurgence of presidential political prowess, a tug-of-personal-wars ensued with deleterious impact on the national treasury, not to mention judicial jingoism. This time around, unfortunately, the mental capacity has been outstripped by the dizzying demands of manipulative make-believe which exceeded all our expectations of disarticulated political scheming and intrigue.
Atiku’s memory is the main casualty and the flurry of falsehoods flowing forth from his severely serialized political consciousness is telling, to put it mildly. Atiku, in a disoriented quest for relevance, lied about calling the wife of slain Lt.Col Ibrahim Sakaba until the wife, Seun, denied it asking, “Why the lies? I have not received any call from Atiku please.”
He claimed EFCC raided his children’s home until the EFCC debunked it; he claimed he was not invited to the Peace Accord signing ceremony, until Rev. Hassan Kukah produced an acknowledged copy of the invitation letter to expose the lie; the social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs. Lauretta Onochie, exposed yet another documented Atiku lie about being an orphan whereas in his book, MY LIFE, Atiku said his mother died in 1984 when he was 38 years old, prompting Lauretta to wonder “what’s the point of this lie”?
Alhaji Atiku did not tell Nigerians the truth in the policy document he said he intends to execute during his two terms of four years each, forgetting his promise to Ndigbo of serving only one term. Even on corporate matters, Atiku’s tax returns did not tally with his claim of having about 200 thousand staff on his payroll. At this rate, Nigerians who are alarmed by the extent and frequency of the falsehoods from Atiku Abubakar should take consolation and seek protection of their nation from the unthinkable consequences of an Atiku Presidency by using their PVC to reboot Atiku’s memory at the February polls in case he believes his party’s lies about Nigerians forgetting Atiku’s personal and occupational contraband. That should be sufficient protection from the avalanche of lies that will surely be an embarrassing feature of an Atiku Presidency. Goodluck, a public affairs analyst, wrote from Port Harcourt, Rivers State.Read More at: https://leadership.ng/2019/01/02/articulated-lies-dont-win-elections/ |
