Politics › Nnamdi Kanu Explains Why He Ran Away From Nigeria, Abandoned His Followers by midolian(op): 9:05am On Feb 03, 2019 |
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has responded to criticisms of running away during the 2017 military invasion of his home in Afara Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State by the Nigerian army and the allegation of abandoning his followers in the country.
It could be recalled that Kanu left the country after the army invaded his home on September 14th, 2017, during the military exercise code-named; “Operation Python Dance II”.
Following the development, Kanu later resurfaced few months ago in Israel which stirred controversies as some Nigerians opined that since Kanu is the leader of IPOB, he should have faced the army rather than running away.
Kanu, reacting during his live radio broadcast from London on Saturday said he ran away because he did not have any weapon to face armed military men who stormed his house.
According to him, he fled to Israel because it is the safest place for him to stay alive and achieve Biafra republic.
Kanu said “I want to ask those that criticise me about what they have done in their life.
“Did you know that Nelson Mandela ran to Nigeria for safety during his time?
“I ran away because Jubril (Buhari) sent the military to my house to come and kill me and they expected me to stay and confront them, I’m unarmed just as IPOB members are unarmed group.
“No one in Nigeria has done what I have done. I came home and I confronted the army, I went to their court, I was unlawfully detained, I went home, conducted a rally and they sent their army to come and kill me.
“Nnia Nwodo, Okezie Ikpeazu, Obiano and Umahi were the ones that signed and brought the army to kill me.
“Yes, I fled to Israel because it is the safest place for me and I needed to stay alive and achieve Biafra republic. Tell those who said that I ran away to read their history book, they will find out that all the popular human rights activists, both dead and alive ran away when it’s the best time to.” http://dailypost.ng/2019/02/03/nnamdi-kanu-explains-ran-away-nigeria-abandoned-followers/https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Nnamdi-Kanu.jpg |

As expected, all these noise and protests against suspension of the corrupt Onnoghen is just like mourning the dead. sometimes, a minute silence is all we do.. some other times, we go on a day or two days public holiday..after which activities will go on like nothing ever happened...
I might be wrong about this. The lawyers probably "forgot" to boycott the courts |
Politics › #Onnoghen: Lawyers Ignore NBA Boycott Order by midolian(op): 11:16am On Jan 29, 2019 |
Lawyers in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory have reported to the courts despite an order by the Nigerian Bar Association for them to boycott the courts.
The association called for the boycott at the end of its emergency National Executive Council meeting on Monday, which discussed the suspension of Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Mr Onnoghen was suspended in controversial circumstances by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.
The suspension is deemed illegal and has drawn strong condemnations. The NBA ordered court boycott in protest, amid concerns over the violation of the independence of the judiciary.
A PREMIUM TIMES reporter who visited the headquarters of the Federal High Court and FCT High Court in Maitama reported that normal businesses went on as lawyers reported to the courts.
Many courts at the federal high court were filled with lawyers waiting for sessions to begin.

Politics › Amaechi Leaked Tape: Ibim Semenitari Admits Voice Belongs To Minister, Explains by midolian(op): 12:00pm On Jan 07, 2019 |
Leaked audio: Amaechi’s ex-aide admits voice belongs to minister, explains what happened... https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Ibim-Semenitari.jpgIbim Semenitari, a former aide to the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has reacted to the audio recording in which the minister was heard expressing shocking pessimistic views about Nigeria and the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a press statement yesterday, she accepted the voice in the tape is Amaechi’s but insisted that the minister’s comment had been twisted out of context.
Amaechi, a key political ally of Buhari and is the Director-General of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation, was allegedly caught on tape portraying President Buhari as a dismal failure who has been unable to meet the expectations of various segments of the society.
However, the statement by Mrs Semenitari, a former Rivers State commissioner for Information under Amaechi, reads: “Let me first make it clear that I am not speaking for the Honourable Minister nor for his media team. He has quite competent hands who can do so.
“However, I feel compelled as someone who had sat in at myriads of interviews granted by the Honourable minister both when he was governor and a little while after that to correct what I believe is deliberate twisting of what he had said. First a bit of background to put things in context.
“Anyone who has sat with Amaechi in private discussions or at a media interview will agree that he has been consistent in expressing the belief that most Nigerians do not hate corruption but simply hate the fact that they are not the ones perpetuating the corruption. This has been his view expressed at different times in press interviews. It is for this reason that he has maintained that only a bloody revolution somewhat like the Rawlings revolution in Ghana will change Nigeria.
“During the Jonathan era, he had made these comments at various media discussions during which time he had also lamented about the former President’s refusal to listen and take counsel. Media colleagues at these events I am sure will remember. It is for this reason that I am certain the first recording was from one of those parleys.
“It is possible that the Honourable Minister has also on some occasions spoken about the frugality of the Buhari regime but he did so not in the context of negativity but as a positive indication of a new Nigeria where pain will ultimately translate to gain. Again I say this with the privilege of knowing his governance worldview in this regards.
“The reason I have bothered to speak about this is because this is a clear case of cut and paste. Different conversations taken out of context and brought together to create a narrative that is far from the truth.
“I am saddened by the fact that a purported conversation meant in the first place to be not for reportage and in strict confidence is being peddled. Though I wasn’t present at this so-called meeting but I gleaned this from the supposed comments of the minister in the peddled tape itself.
“Like I said, I do not hold brief for the minister not can speak for his media team but I do owe my country, my profession and posterity the truth that I know. Happy new year again and may Nigeria prosper.” http://dailypost.ng/2019/01/07/leaked-audio-amaechis-ex-aide-admits-voice-belongs-minister-explains-happened/ |
