PoliticsIMF Denies Being Behind Subsidy Removal, Says It Was A Domestic Decision, by Mikenig(op): 5:46pm On Oct 25, 2024
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has denied being behind the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria, saying it was a decision taken by the country’s government.

IMF’s African Region Director Abebe Selassie said this on Friday at the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington DC, US.

“The decision was a domestic one. We don’t have programmes in Nigeria. Our role is limited to regular dialogue, as we have with other nations like Japan or the UK,” Abebe said.

President Bola Tinubu during his inauguration in May 2023 declared that fuel “subsidy is gone”. That pronouncement immediately led to a hike in the cost of the commodity across the country. From about ₦200 per litre, the product is selling for about ₦1,200 in several parts of Nigeria.

Months after that, the Tinubu government also floated the country’s currency – the naira as part of reforms by to shore up the economy.

But those twin moves have led to a sharp spike in the cost of living. The price of essential commodities has continued to soar with inflation reaching 32.72 per cent, pushing basic items beyond the reach of millions of Nigerians.

In the face of the harsh economic climate in the country, President Tinubu has repeatedly called for patience from Nigerians but insisted there is no going back on the reforms.

He believes his government’s reforms will be beneficial to Nigerians in the long run and has in the interim introduced a series of interventionist measures to buffer the impacts of the policies.

The IMF African Region Director has lauded these policies and wants the Federal Government to roll out more programmes to protect vulnerable groups against the effects of the reforms.

“We recognize the significant social costs involved,” Abebe said. “The government can mitigate these by expanding social protection for the most vulnerable.”

Op,how do you think it will be possible to Islamize Nigeria when the population of muslims and christains is 50% each.If you notice any inscription on Nigeria currency, milliatry uniforms etc ,why is it that other past presidents that were Christians(Aguiyi Irosi,Olusegun Obasanjo,Yakubu Gowon,Jonathan and Shonekan) could not correct this?
You have asked a valid question.

Maybe, we should ask them.

But you know, it's the same thing as saying why has Osinbajo not stopped the killing of Christians in Southern Kaduna, Enugu, Agatu, the RCCG evangelist, the Kano woman that didn't let some Muslim guy do ablution in front of her shop and was killed for blaspheming Allah...

Maybe these so-called Christian leaders aren't as powerful as we think they are.

Remember these people are surrounded by this same Hausa/Fulani muslims, in the army, in the state house, everywhere.

If you say no one is trying to or can islamize Nigeria, maybe you should look around you and see the handwriting on the wall. Let me help you:

1. Chech your currency 100, 200, 500 and 100 naira. Why is Arabic written on it. Why not also add Hebrew and other "Christian" languages? Does anyone need to see 1000 written in arabic to know it's 1000 naira note.

2. Why did Babangida force Nigeria into the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC)? Is Nigeria an Islamic country?

3. Why is there an arabic inscription on the insignia/badge of the Nigerian Army? Is it the army of saudi arabia or ISIS?

4. Do you know Chibok is a Christian community and most of those Christians kidnapped were Christians?

5. Why are the Northern muslims abducting young christian girls and forcing them to marry Northern Muslims?

6. Why are Fulani herdsmen killing people in Southern Kaduna and Middle Belt which are places predominantly occupied by Christans? And why has the federal govt not been able to arrest even one of them even though El Rufai said he has paid them and then the Northern Governors Forum came again to lie to us that they are from Senegal and Mali?

Open your eyes.

The ploy to islamize Nigeria is real.

By the way, have you asked yourself who the major power brokers in Nigeria are?

Buhari, Atiku, Tinubu, Babangida, Emir of Kano, Sultan of Sokoto and every first class emir in the North. They are all muslims.

Did I hear you say Obasanjo? You really think Obasanjo is interested in defending the interest of Christians?

Have you checked the Lagos civil service and see the dominance of muslims in the civil service?

Did you not see what Aregbesola tried to do in Osun state?

Do you know Lagos House of Assembly is made up of 90% muslims?

Open your eyes.

The FRC law that forced Pastor E.A Adeboye to resign. Do you know that law does not affect muslim leaders cos of the way their leadership is structured?

Open your eyes. Political correctness will not help Christianity in Nigeria.

Maybe you should read about Turkey to know how that country that use to be predominantly Christian has become an islamic nation. Today, most of the cathedrals and former Christian worship centres have either be turned to mosques or museums. Check Google and read about Turkey.

Open your eyes.

This is the time for Christians to pray, evangelize and stand up for their faith against these evil forces.

Defend your christian faith or one day you'll be afraid to go church.

Christians should move into politics enmasse. You will not go to hell because you chose to be actively involved in how your nation is governed or in the policies that determine your life are made.

If we continue to leave governance to politics like we currently do, we will pay dearly for it.

Christians must start demanding at least 50% representation across board: federal civil services, federal appointments, armed forces, police, dss, state civil services and appointments. That's the way to go.

Or have you forgotten that the reason why Ambode, a Christian, is governor of Lagos state is because we insisted?

Look at most of those who have governed Lagos, Nigeria's richest state and economic backbone, they are muslims.

Before Ambode, muslims have governed Lagos for 20 years. You doubt me? Oya let's count: Buba Marwa (2-4 years), Tinubu - 8 years, Fashola 8 years. Before Marwa, there was Lateef Jakande, Raji Rasaki. The only two Christian military administrators that governed Lagos didn't serve that long: Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Michael Otedola.

Dear Christians, open your eyes.

You have slept for too long.

You have given muslims the control of politics, economy, and military.

It's time to demand for equality.

50% or we go our separate ways.

By the way, Dangote, a muslim, being the richest man in africa and second largest employer of labor in Nigeria after government is no mistake.

It is part of the plan to dominate and annihilate Christians.

If we don't stand up now and defend our Christian faith (without violence), one day, we will be asked to step aside at the arrival point at our nation's airports because our names are John and Deborah, and not Abeeb or Aisha.

The discrimination will be real, and it may already be too late then.

So when you Christians criticize Oyedepo and Apostle Suleiman, think again and ask yourself why muslims including Buhari himself who have made inciteful remarks against Christians have not been invited by DSS.

The point is not to get you to be anti-muslim, the goal is for you to be pro-Christian.

Enough said.

Christianity EtcPolitical Correctness Will Kill Christianity In Nigeria. by Mikenig(op): 11:24pm On Jan 29, 2017
When the murderous Fulani Herdsmen kill Christians in Southern Kaduna and other parts of the country...

The federal government does NOTHING.

El Rufai comes out to say he has paid them to stop killing Nigerians, our own Christian brothers.

Then weeks after, the Northern Governors' Forum tell us the killers are from Senegal and Mali.

Apparently, when foreigners come to kill us in our own country, we don't summon their ambassadors or speak with their home government.

NO.

We simply pay them and beg them to stop killing us.

It's how we roll.

You see how the story is adding up.

We are FOOLS right?

Then an angry Bishop Oyedepo voices his concerns. Says GOD should break up the frigging country if HE choses.

We all come for him. A prominent Christian leader shouldn't speak in such manner.

Even Christians criticize him.

Why?

Well, you're an MFM member. And Bishop Oyedepo is not your G.O.

Plus you don't like his brand of gospel and doctrine.

Well done.

Shebi when we get to heaven, they will judge us based on our denominations, right?

Keep it up.

Then Pastor Sulaimon gets really angry. Tells his church members to kill any Fulani herdsman that threatens their lives and peace of mind.

Frankly, he shouldn't have.

But why are we asking for his head?

If your government won't protect you, shey you have a right to protect yourself.

But NO.

Christians won't support their own.

Political correctness.

We sha have to be politically correct.

Suddenly DSS wakes up to its duties. Attempts to arrest Pastor Suleman.

The murderous Fulani herdsmen have killed thousands but not one of them has been brought to book.

Why?

Well, they do not threaten the peace and unity of Nigeria na.

WOW.

Or maybe they have patrons in government and are simply pushing the agenda of some descendants of Uthman Dan Fodio.

Then MURIC suddenly wakes up too. Calls for the arrest of Pastor Suleman.

Christians join in.

I LAUGH.

Pastors CONTINUE to focus on building big churches and cathedrals. They keep acquiring wealth. Almost compelling members to pay first-fruits
and tithes and offerings.

Organize four (4) different services in a week. Collect offering at every service.

Invite comedians to come make us laugh and forget our sorrow, even in church.

Shame on the church.

Political correctness will kill the church.

We have missed the true essence of worship. Of having a true relationship with your maker. Of being a Christian.

Much of what we do in church these days are mere activities.

We even bring MMM into the church.

Let's keep pretending like we don't know there's a brazen, systematic and evil ploy to islamize Nigeria.

When Pastor Adeboye was forced to resign because of the FRC crap. Buhari sacked Jim Obazee.

Jim Obazee, by the way, was my pastor at RCCG Believers' Parish years ago.

I would have thought if Buhari was really serious about protecting the interest of Christians (because this FRC law relly doesn't affect Muslim
leaders), he would have asked that the law is repealed. Not sack Obazee.

Jim Obazee probably didn't make the law. He only implemented it.

But Buhari wanting to appear as if defending the interest of Christians sacked Obazee.

Many took the bait.

I am not fooled.

To you the Christian in the South who still have the freedom of worship, your brothers are being killed in the North.

And you aren't doing anything about it.

When shit gets real, and the jihadists come down South, well, let's see how much of your political correctness will be enough to stop them.

By the way, you really should start listening to the words and intent of people like Prof. Oloyede.

He is a top official of MURIC and one man Christians should be wary of.

Lastly, before you say I'm anti-Muslim, let me educate you:

My maternal grandfather and some family members are Muslims. Most of my friends are Muslims. I can confidently say I have never tried to
force them to be Christian. Neither do I discriminate against them or any other Muslim on the basis of their faith.

They also have never tried to force me to be a Muslim too. We have both invited each other to join our respective folds, but never have we
discriminated against each other or tried to force it.

The Muslims I have in my life are some of the best friends, family and colleagues I've got.

Maybe it has a lot to do with their education or exposure. Or that they are Yorubas. I really can't say.

Dear Christians, stand up to be counted. Don't just be church-goers.

Stop this evil of forced worship in its track.

Everyone has a right to practice whatever religion suits them.

If you still live in the bubble of "Nigeria cannot be islamized," maybe it's time you take some History lessons on Turkey.

If we continue in this stride, many of our big cathedrals, camps, and state-of-the-art worship centres will eventually be converted to mosques
exactly as it happened in Turkey.

Keep dancing shoki in church.

Don't evangelize.

Don''t pray.

Don't speak up.

Don't defend your Christian faith.

In the end, we all shall reap what we sow.

Eventually, GOD always has his own select few.

Diversify the economy. Also hope for higher crude prices.
? I agree with you. But you know those are beyond our control as individuals. We should rather think for ourselves too.
BusinessHow Do We Reduce The Effect Of The Falling Value Of Naira On Our Pocket? by Mikenig(op): 12:08am On Jul 26, 2015
Hello guys, with the way things are; the value of Naira will not rise anytime soon. As a matter of fact, we should brace up for the worse economic downturn in this country since independence. Why? Many reasons, but IRAN is my immediate and biggest worry.

With the nuclear deal Iran just struck with the world powers and economic and other sanctions about to be lifted, Nigeria should prepare for hard times. Why? Well Iran has not exported oil for a very long time so they have it on abundance. As such when Iran begins to flood the market with plenty oil, supply will be more than demand. Oil price will be greatly reduced and come to think of it, Iran us ready to go as low as possible. They have nothing to lose really.

In addition, India is Nigeria's biggest oil customer. With Iran now in the game, India may look away from Nigeria's oil. Iran's oil is of a better quality compared to Nigeria and Iran is also strategically positioned as they are also closer to India and our other buyers. Meaning demand for Nigeria's oil will reduce drastically.

Aside oil, we aren't doing well in other spheres. Nigeria consumes more than it produces. Inflation is rising, companies are laying off workers, industries are going comatose and even the government cannot pay salaries.

My brothers and sisters, if there is any better time to earn more money especially in dollars, it is now.

So how do increase our earning power to mitigate the effect of our falling naira and ailing economy? Please share your ideas and let's help each other.

Thanks.
