In a country like Nigeria where the masses are scared to fight, any politician can increase the cost from 30 million to 100 million and nothing will happen. Next time it increases from 100 to 500. Gradually the cost comes back to 1 billion because the masses are weak. But If the masses engage the politicians with fire and brimstone the politicians will behave themselves and the cost will remain at 30 million. So I still repeat that whoever wants to change Nigeria will still need the backing of a fearless population and other sane politicians. You CANNOT change Nigeria on your own single handedly but you can still make some positive changes here and there. The maintenance of your changes when you leave office will still depend on others.
all I'm saying is it takes one good guy to lead before other '' good'' but cowardly politicians back you (they will back whoever is in power mind you). if people can fight for Buhari and even Jonathan and fayose and wike and adedibu, who gave them crumbs (rice and amala) imagine how they will fight for you.(who gives them jobs, dignity and hope for a better tmrw.

Agric is just the foundation. contributes just 1% to western GDP and employment but has massive multiplier effect us to 15 % (transport, processing, financing, marketing, retail, storage, fertilizer, research etc). manufacturing is what we should be aiming for in this generation. tooth pick, pencil, pots cars, computer parts, etc)

the masses cannot rise above their belief system. imagine if you're a politician. you have access to 1 billion and your rival has same 1 billion. he or she builds mansions and buys cars while you distribute tractors or build roads or scholarship with 900 million while he or she is trying to manage to share 100 million to thugs and as rice. who do you think the people will vote for. trust me Niger delta started fighting only after 1 million man March gave some the opportunity to see oil money in action in Abuja. before they were just hearing about it. they didn't know what it meant but as soon as they saw it live, na im dem ginger. trust me if you show your ppl what is possible they will never back down from that minimum

Aliko Dangote: The richest man in Africa believes there are three major problems facing this Country. They are:

Unemployment: Speaking on unemployment, Dangote said: “It is a great and pervasive problem in Nigeria. But the point must be made that it is not peculiarly a Nigerian problem. All over the world, there are growing issues of unemployment. And what we are saying is that the in-coming government can achieve a remarkable success in this regard if it declares an emergency on unemployment and tackle it decisively. You know the organised private sector will or should play a key role in this. And that is why we are concerned.”

Increased power generation: The businessman called on Buhari’s administration to revisit the ongoing privatisation programme in the energy sector with a view to growing the energy capacity of the country.

Corruption: He further lamented the extent of damage corruption has done to Nigerian economy, describing it as a “big cankerworm that has really eaten deep into the fabric of our nation.” “The malaise of corruption is a threat to the survival of the Nigeria economy, no doubt. We must all therefore rise in unison to tackle the menace both in the public and private sector of the economy. The Buhari-led government can show a lot of strength on this issue by showing direction, by demonstrating commitment to ridding every sector of the economy of this malaise.

Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo.

The current Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria believes Nigeria is suffering from two ailments which if tackled will position Nigeria for greatness. They are: Religion and Ethnicity.

He said leaders in various facets of the country play politics with everything, including religion and tribe.

The vice president noted that Nigeria has for long been divided along religious and ethnic lines.

“A nation that is divided against itself is like a kingdom divided against itself, which the Bible says, shall remain desolate,” Mr. Osinbajo, a pastor and law professor, stated.

Lets now hear you:

So many theories cum mysteries as it regards Nigeria's problems and how to move the country to the promise land. Can we on this thread carefully identify these problems and possible/practical ways around them.
ignorance. all we need is for 100 million farmers to form cooperative and contribute 1,1 naira daily to buy tractor,or build mega farms and factories and voila, increased GDP, per capita income etc

I do not need to attend any political meetings. They do not represent the society.

you go fear ignorance

What we need is people that understand the internal economy, and dynamics of global affairs. We think like Nigeria is an isolated country and we are the only ones that matter. Biafra, North, West, South, Islam, Christain etc. No one is saying what is really going on. OUR POLITICIANS ARE SECRETLY GIVING OUR RESOURCES TO FORIEGNERS AND KEEPING THE MONEY IN THEIR PERSONAL ACCOUNTS. that must stop. If you are a PDP or APC affiliate, you ae going down.
and yet you don't want to attend political meetings where ugep political leaders are chosen, hmm I can see your genius mind logic

Guess what? I live in Nigeria together with everyone else. My parents farm in Benue to send me to school. It might not be the best, but it is a start. I cannot be apologetic for my degree.
POLITICS IS NO LONGER ABOUT VILLAGE CONNECTIONS. This is what this older generation fail to understand. 2019 Will determine Nigeria's place in global affairs. Politics is about understanding National and International capital markets; It is about the distribution of wealth equally in society; decentralizing power. Politics is about knowing who to push aside, who to suck up to and who to please.
We need fully educated people at the front, not semi, or low education. If you plan on becoming a senator in 2019, i suggest you enrol this year. By 2019 you should be coming to an end.

that's the problem
you 'educated ' don't get
politics is made up of 70 million village connections

This is what this older generation fail to understand.

it is you the younger ones that are not getting it

2019 Will determine Nigeria's place in global affairs.

na today
that's what we said I'm 2003
leave story

Politics is about understanding National and International capital markets; It is about the distribution of wealth equally in society; decentralizing power. Politics is about knowing who to push aside, who to suck up to and who to please nationally and globally.
sorry to bust your bubble but politics is simply about manipulating your fellow human beings to do your bidding.
why do you think it's called a social science

I am not incompetent,

not an insult
but if you can't beat the nincompoops leading us then you (we) are incompetent

i am saying what no one wants to say. Electing illerates is whaT leads to our senators embarrassing us on TV saying "Women's right bill will make our women rich. So that is why we dont want it." In 2016!!!

they can read and write
they are literate
you are the 'political 'illiterate as it were
go and learn the ropes (I am)
cos grumbling never solved anything
it's not enough to claim patriotism from the rooftops
actions speak louder

It is what leads to the fact that our technology and science minister does not have a facebook or a twitter account and does not know what a micro processor is. So tell me how will understand the technological needs of the country?

he doesn't need to
what he needs to do is share money and rice andwin his state for the Party
I'm sorry but that is the grim reality

All these backward thinking people politics in 2016 is still about village politics.

majority. of our ppl and voters are village ppl Abi you think everyone go school like us
they only think of today, their bellies, it is the nature of man. read a psychology textbook sometime.

And Just to be clear, This is not a run for any political seat or anything, all we are saying is; our government must be answerable to us.

if you're not running, or supporting someone that's running then you my dear patriotic but misguided friend are shortly whistling in the wind. I used to be like you but realised that someone has to cell the cat

We need fully educated people at the front,

yes, but what use is your education if you can't seize power either by ballot or bullet

not semi, or low education.
there ppl you refer to as low education are actually more educated than you. same way a plumber is better than you at plumbing, they are better than you at politics. and you cannot change a damn thing without politics or cooperatives, but that's another thing

If you plan on becoming a senator in 2019, i suggest you enrol this year. By 2019 you should be coming to an end.
alas I don't have requisite Resources but I do plan to start from councillor and claw my way to the top. changing what little I can, I hope you do the same too

What kind of change in governance do you think is not reversible? Everything can be undone. Nothing like irreversible change. Those countries you mentioned are different because the masses don't take shit from the politicians like Nigerians do. For your changes to be irreversible you will need the support of other sane politicians and from the masses who are willing to fight for what is right. Without it your changes will swept away in a short time. That's why I am telling you a single man cannot change a country alone.
then it is your job to teach the masses to not take shitt from their leaders. do we take crap when it concerns super eagles,no we do not. imagine a leader fixes roads at recommended 30 million per kilometre instead of 1 billion per click like is going on now. it means he can fix 33 times more roads. do you think ppl will agree to be deceived next time by another politician. no, he will have to match you or better. that's how you change things irreversibly
PoliticsRe: The Youth Finally Speaks!!! This Is What We Want. We Are Demanding It In 2019 by mikolo80: 10:04pm On Mar 25, 2016

Take your country back!!!! That is the only way it will change. If you keep hoping someone will come, no one will. It is simple logic. We need to stand up and say NO. ENOUGH. GIVE US OUR COUNTRY BACK. We need new set of people in house of senate/reps.

Age caps for senate house seats should be reduced to 35.
Our senate seats and rep seats will no longer be appointed but given by the people of respective lands.
Educational requirements for candidates should be increased to BSc from an overseas uni or BSc from a Nigerian uni with MSc.
Candidates must have studied political related subjects/Law/Humanitarian sciences/relevant degree for their post in university.
All candidates must currently, before being chosen, have a job that pays nothing less than the minimum wage.
Candidates must put forward their proposals for development, project plans and milestones before they can be eligible to even run.
These proposals should be signed, and made publicly available for all to see. When a milestone is checked the people tick it off.
Elected candidates cannot purchase private property while in power.
Wages for these officials will be equal the monthly minimum wage of the society.
Failure to meet this means a step down.

THIS IS WHAT WE WANT. SHARE THIS

This is not a fight but a struggle for our nation. This is not about us, it is about the prosperity of a nation and the rights of the people. The seizing of institutional freedom and the establishment of financial freedom. In 2019, we are changing things. NO PDP, NO APC!!! We the people will openly decide (not by that thing they call voting poll) who will represent us in the house of senate and representatives. We will set economic and social development milestones and see clearly how money is allocated and spent. We must create a platform for this. We have the skills in this country.

You do not have to go out and fight or march, you simply have to be involved, setting up and planning. We need to take power if our corrupt politicians have decided to strip it away from us. NO MORE!!!
who is holding you. how many political meeting have you attended. you think leadership is by grammar. not up to 4 million graduates in Nigeria. you wish to disenfranchise over 60 million voters because you were privileged to have university degree. degree that cannot win councillor seat against illiterate. very funny mediocre and incompetent guy trying to shift goalpost in middle of game

I came across a topic here yesterday intimating us of, Governor Wike's visit to Nysc headquarters in his state, to deliver his condolences to the Nysc family over the death of a corper in the just concluded election, and also promised to increase the allowance of corpers in his state from 10k to 15k, and the majority of comments on that thread was nairalanders praising the Governor, i bet the majority of youth corpers who were there, when he gave that speech and made that promise applauded and sang his praises too.
After seeing this, am forced to ask,
What the hell is wrong with us?,
Have we lost all our principles to the urge to make filthy lucre?.
If the educated class, who are supposed to be the light of the nation, are bowing to and praising a Governor, who created the toxic environment, that led to the death of their own,
What hope is there for this country?.

Buhari is a no-nonsense man with a fraudulent budget. This writer is a waste. Does he think everyone has short memory like him? It is obvious that he has forgotten that buhari gave time frame in some of his promises.

If someone says that he will do something for you every year if you elect him and you bought the lie and vote for him, won't you complain when the first year is about to run out and you haven't seen anything?

But his now wasting funds in oil exploration in the north Now he's watching herdsmen destroy farms and farms products. From you farm, government buys to you farm, fulani men kills you and burn your house and you still expect people to be patient?

He promised to create but we are seeing is loss of jobs instead.

But now I am speechless.

but what we see now is destruction of homes in benue state and you still expect Nigeria no be patient?

No! It doesn't work that way. He saw Nigerians eating beans with one meat and He said NO! You deserve better, make me the head and you will start eating rice and beans with 3 meats, the gullible ones got him into power and now what we are eating or rather smoking is sugarless garri so if at all anybody should be likened to a tortoise, it is definitely uncle go slow.
