400billionman: GDP is the sum total of ALL economic activities in a country within a given year.
If you manufacture garri and sell it at a loss, it forms part of GDP yet the seller made a loss. If you open a shop and pay your landlord rent and made losses in your shop from January to December, it is part of GDP.. 180m Nigerians have to eat nah. So your statement is nonsense to the subject matter. Oil gives Nigeria a comparative cost advantage in export and accounts for 90% of all foreign exchange incomes for the country and 70% of total National income.
So how does Agriculture being 40% of GDP diminish the fact that Nigeria shares FAAC and JAAC from money obtained from sale of crude oil which before 1950, the main source of foreign exchange incomes was agricultural exports ?
Have I lectured you ? yep you have,on how ignorant you are. Nigeria is worth 120 trillion oil gives us patapata 10 trillion agric is nothing less than 30 to 40 trillion which one looks like mainstay ordinary 10% tax of non oil goods will make oil look like a stipend and you're hear talking trash. anyway it's not your fault it's your economics and English comprehension teachers I blame |

ashjay001: Seems u all, too need some education!
What do u think happened to d groundnut pyramids?
Why do u think, despite d fact we were exporting oil palm, cocoa, rubber n other cash crops, earlier in our history, we presently are far behind our former competitors?
We refused to find better ways to get farming done.
Recently, d agric minister complained abt low yield milk cows, minimal harvested rice/acre and all sorts of ways our farmers are being short-changed due to archaic farming practices!
How do u improve productivity without exposure which only education can bring? A lot of those farmers are stark illiterates, whats d probability their kids would improve on their farming practices without some form of basic education?
Carry ur myopic selves go forward abeg! all your education, how many groundnut you don farm? |

Benue state is the largest producer of soya beans in Nigeria if not west Africa apart from being the food basket of the nation. It will take kebbi a century to catch up with Benue state. Am not belittling kebbi but only putting the records straight. we import 90%of our soya requirements Mr man |

May I correct your assertion that our crying for restructuring does not make us lazy as it were. I saw it but your body language reveals differently My original post that set this whole back and forth in motion says 18k minimum wage means people won't be able to afford such fees, and I say everyone is not supposed to afford it even in America isn't that an indication that we need to do things differently in order to ensure people can afford to pay for their wards tuition.

agrovick: This is a defeatist mentality, not everyone is collecting 18k but then how many members of the population can shell out almost $3k annually for just fees alone?
And no, no one is saying everyone should become doctors but if you want quality education; it costs a lot of money you have the defeatist attitude. I mentioned solutions, you're pipe dreaming. Must the whole population become doctors. The ones we have how many remain in the country, how many can Nigeria's economy pay properly? You cannot separate one sector from Nigeria's morass. Fix the economy and every will fall into place.I'm Yankee medical school costs 30 to 40 k a year yet ppl make it happen (college fund which we can replicate on the farm or stock exchange, school loans which we can get from money lenders or family, village contribution as I mentioned, scholarships even though few and far between Mr even doctors sponsoring doctors too meet demand) . SURElee: The foolish guy talking about inheritance while mark is still alive, what has he done to outlive him as a legacy? Some Nigerian's with their reasoning deficiency think male children is all there is to sustainance of marriages and life. How many men walked out on their families despite having male kids only to end up with another woman and ends up having females. There is more to life than just gender of children and wealth to be inherited, how many wealth have been squandered by the so called male children of wealthy men? he talked about his name living on not about walking out on marriage and he has achieved his aim. Your points are valid!!
The system in Nigeria needs a total overhaul. I don't know how difficult it is to replicate a working system. These things are very easy, we can do it but we are used to doing things the wrong way.
Corruption have eaten deep into the fabrics of our existence. Am just tired. We keep on talking and talking with nothing to show for it.
