Hope you know People with Normal hair can also get dreads?
All these Talks that Dreadlocks and voodoo are related is absurd.
It's Disheartening to see that people who still believe in such Still exist.

Note: This Thread is meant to create awareness and Change All those people who still Believe Dreadlocks Are voodoo-related.

I have two Brothers And We are all deadheads.
Being the Last Of the trio,I was the Last To Really Feel the effects of this Stigma. We were all born and grew up in Abuja.During the Come up,I've Had People say I should cut my Hair or else No good will come my path.
To be honest I thought that was all talk and wondered how these people still live by such ideals,
UNTIL now.

In 2013 My Eldest Brother was In His Final year At One Of this Nation's respected Public Universities. He always complained to our parents that they was this Lecturer Who Was always Telling Him to cut his Hair or else He won't graduate.Believe it or Not we all thought It was all talk but We was Wrong. He didn't get to graduate that year.
Why?
This lecturer failed him In A course which he felt he Should've Passed.
Dad and Mom had to Go to The University to confront This man BUT he was firm and refused.
Believe it or Not It was so Serious that my parent had to sue this Lecturer. We won the Case though and the lecturer had to pay Certain Compensations. This Happened when I was Just 12.

In 2015 Jerome (my other Brother) also got admission (into a different public Uni)after passing JAMB for the 2nd time. He also faced the same Issue with not one But two Lecturers. They always Had him Leave the class BECAUSE of his Hair.My parents Were not Happy With All this Stigma at all,But this time Jerome had to Cut his Hair because He didn't want his grades to be tampered with.

Now I'm almost a Freshmen.
Still In The middle Of my Clearance And These Lecturers And Staffs Won't Stop frowning each time i Walk in their offices. cry cry

Pls if you happen to be One of those persons who frown at people with dreadlocks.
We respect your Beliefs...
But pls don't forget Racism and Hate can Be carved and this is Just one of the Many forms.
Please don't deprive us the Love that should be shared evenly cry

I'd rather you go and study Chemistry than major on INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY. ICH is not globally recognized like chemistry since it's a piece of a bigger puzzle. Better don't waste ur talent on a piece, pursue a greater cause while you still have the chance to.
#My humble opinion.
BTW I hold a B.Tech in Pure and Applied Chemistry
shocked
Thank you Brother!
What do you think of courses like Petroleum Engineering or Maybe Computer science?

Chemical and Petroleum engineering is quite different from Petroleum engineering, the former is more diversified, same as we have Petroleum and gas engineering. Some schools refer to them as one though.
At the words in bold, I'm still a student tongue

But I would have loved to study Astronomy.. Cosmology.
It's a pity no Nigerian University is offering these courses, even if a few were offering it,your certificate would be very useless here in Nigeria, and the chance to study it abroad hasn't really come around.
Proudly a Chemical and Petroleum engineer in the making. smiley
I thought Chemical Engineering And Petroleum Engineering are two different things entirely? angry undecided. So u guys are the ones Making All the figures abi? cry

They are the least educated sect in this country yet, they have held power and controlled the resources of this country more than all the other tribes put together. Despite the massive wealth they have accrued, their region is still one of the poorest and least developed in the country.
These people are cursed and they are the ones dragging Nigeria back.
Just because they've held power and still remain Underdeveloped doesn't mean there are cursed. It entails how Fair and NOT COURRUPT they are.If they had Develop their States I bet you'll point fingers saying they are CORRUPT N Misspending the country's funds for their own Benefits.!
