For Ovarian/MENSTRUAL CYCLE, Keith Moore explains better. BUT FOR THE REST ESpecially weeks of development. INDER BEI SINGH WOULD SUFFICE. Try it, thank me later.
Our lectures have beef on Indian textbooks...

I haven't used developing human by Keith Moore before but I've heard good things about it. Also Singh's embryology is good too. For histology I use junquiera for theory and "di fieores" for practical
Keith moores is good as its more clinically oriented but it can be combined with saddler.
Jubquera nd lecturers slide is sufficient

this was insightful and actually makes me wanna ask if a malfunction in these control systems is the reason for low blood pressure?

I do know the blood vessels would need closing and repair, but which one should be closed first, as in level of importance, that's the question..... thanks for the reply anyway
Generally any factor that causes a deviation from the normal physiology is what causes a pathology be it due to poor response by control systems or due to injury or probably aberrent conditions.

To the main question i would go with the aorta because
Its a channel for transport of substances to organs and stuff
Also when blood isnt getting to organs it causes an increase in heart rate then a decrease as blood flow to heart muscles via coronary arteries may be affected also when heart rate increases to a level it then declines as control kicks in... Positive feedback i think so that would lead to thready pulse in someone loosing blood and going into shock. So i guess aorta should be given initial attention however there are means to temporarily reduce the bleeding in the venacava (am guessing ivc due to injury ) while aorta is being fixed... Also its lively lungs would be damaged nd probably spleen or kidney...
Like i said earlier not siure the person would survive the trip to the ER

Don't mind the girl, i just decided not to respond, at least for now.

If you have gone through her posts, you can't help but wonder how someone who claimed to have undergone undergraduate studies and is presently undergoing postgraduate studies can be so naive with low self esteem and bereft of confidence with so much fear.

I was wondering, if a person were to be involved in a fatal accident, and an artery and vein of the same size(e.g aorta and vena cava) were to be severed... which should be closed first or which is more fatal to the patient's life?

I think its the artery, considering blood in it is at high pressure... anyway, lemme hear what the bosses have to say
Actually concerning pressure in the blood there are control systems that would work to reduce the the pressure via vasoconstriction of vessels nd vasodilation of peripheral vessels nd reducing heart rate nd force of contraction. Nd when HR is reduced the pressure would be reduced.
Also not that due to the lower veinous return as a result of VC rupture cardiac output will be lower etc

Back to the questions i think it would be wise to stop bleeding from both aorta nd VC then try to repair the vessels. I doubt the individual would make it to the hospital before tissue start shutting down due to shock nd low blood volume.
I know my more experienced colleagues would have a better answer...

Thanks Sir, but sir,how do I know if I am one of the best of the best?because I don't think I am since what I studied in university has almost nothing to do with physics, chemistry
Neither was lomaxx (check him up In previous pages) .... Dont let ur situation determine where u end up in life, if you want medicine go for it. I believe you would be more mature than ur younger colleagues. You know how life is and you know why you are going for med dont be deterred, in the states anyone can study med you just have to work hard nd take remedial classes for the foundation in science.
Chase your dream and let your passion be your atp... Also choose schools wisely like the erudite oogway said earlier even if it means going to a school in ur state or favoured by your catchment. Just make sure you work smart and hard. Dont give up dont fear

it's actually both but more of the skeletal muscles
I think they all kinda worm together to increase veinous return when pumping agains gravity
Education / Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Millex(m): 7:34am On Mar 03, 2017
Thewhizzkid1:

I think the major factor for moving venous blood up against gravity is the very low right atrial pressure ( about 0 - 3 mmHg) which serves as a suction pump rather than the contraction of those skeletal muscles. Just my contribution sha.
Also the negative pressure generated in the thoracic carvity during inspiration acts as a sucking pump for blood in ivc nd svc increasing veinous return

No I still do not know, trying to find out if any one can point me to a research article where I can find the answer or something close to the question.
You can run research tho this is how nobel prices get won tho fron tge belly of inquisition... But i don't know too unno the svc is on the right side... Or could it be cause of anatomical positions of the heart.?...

Do you know why three-quarter of the body fluid is drained from the thoracic duct into the left subclavian vein while the remaining one-quarter is drained from the right lymphatic duct into the right subclavian vein?
I dont know why do u?

I meant if anyone is willing to discuss the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the lymphatic vascular system. ..
Well what i know is lymphatic vessels help drain tisssues and empty into ducts finally veins but not after some cleaning has been done by lymphocytes and macrophages also lymphatics are important in reducing interstitial fluid and blocked lymphatics causes edema as in cases of elephantiasis....
Also the lower limb and much of the abdomen and left side lymphatics drain into the thoracic ducts and left lymphatic ducts abd right side of body from upper limbs and head and neck drains into right lymphatic ducts and on to veins via jugular and carotid veins ...
Thats the lil i know
About pathology i guess its edema.. Thats kibda like what happens when ur toilet is blocked and shit thats supposed to flow to the septic tank comes back to the wc nd u know what that means... Now imagine that happening in body first waste isn't drained out nd the waste nd fluids comes back to interstitial compartment bd thats a deviation from normal so pathology.

Good morn ogas, and ogas to be in the house.

I just recovered from an intense malaria episode, and this morning, my brain resumed duty. I was wondering, since the chunk of drugs I took would passed through my stomach to my small ingot testine, then to my liver, and the liver is charged with detoxification of substances such as drugs, alcohol etc.
Wouldn't it be assumed that the drugs would be neutralized before it enters the blood stream

or would it pass through the lymphatic system, as that's the only way to bypass the liver and get directly to the heart?
I guess some drugs bind with plasma proteins i havent done drug metabolism so i cant really say

with ur scores ,nobody should tell u u need to do some smart and hardwork on ur reading table. dnt only read but STUDY ur books .study it even wen its looks bore, that skill give u inner details and understanding that u wont forget.

just the five science course, like am not seeing y u shouldnt cover them as many times as possible before ur next jamb. they arent much na .. dont joke with ur past question also

Hello senior colleagues in the house, please I need guidance. I crossed over to Unilag, college of medicine and we started lectures today. I am in Dentistry. We are together with mbbs. I tell you, everything is looking like chinese. We haven't met senior colleagues yet but I want to start reading - no piling up. I need soft copies of recommended Anatomy and Physiology textbooks. my email is dimejikel@yahoo.com

Thank you.
Congratulations on the crossing over, very few make it that far. U already on the right path just keep up the hard work, be consistent, never go a day without going through your class notes backed up with textbooks. All the best dont worry with time "Chinese" will be ur normal lingo
.. Meaning you would be using all those big big words to play... Oh and remember to always relate all you do to real life... The biochemical activities, normal physiologu, anatomy etc..

Cheers bro, see you at the top.. Was in ur shoes few weeks ago..

yes sir i have considered that, well i have visited UI college of medicine and undergradute admissions office for enquiries and they have given.
me a positive go ahead to apply as its a bioscience course.
also the past provost college of health science of my alma matter has also given me the go ahead to apply in uniport

nonetheless i'm still curious so wanted to take advice from you medics who better understands

over the years some universities have accepted botany candidates as a de into mbbs, just hope things havent changed
If they said its OK good but to be honest dont put your hopes in what they said, try all avenues take jamb so you have plenty choices and aren't limited.
