posdream: No mimi, 7 in all bands of IELTS general or academic but d former is said to be easier than d latter. So general is preferable. With God on my side,I plan to start IELTS as soon as I start my course so that before d end I would have their requirement(at worst) since its valid for 2 years. I might just enroll into a centre for the training. It cost less in Oz than naija.

Well, I prefer nursing and of course I'll be going for a cert IV before dip nursing. Offers are considerate.
I'm only considering tastafe because lanceston is regional. I'll be paying for the cert and part of d diploma before I leave. I have offers from ETI,TafeSa,MSIT,and the bremer inst. All in cert+nursing, so I have 2 years. Hopefully by d grace of God, the PR will follow. Its well.

When jenny was here she used to advocate for nursing over community service. But to the best of my knowledge. I stand to be corrected, the 2 are interwoven almost the same. Social worker works for the community. Therefore social worker is under d dept of community service. Its not vice versa, a social worker help in family support,they also help people with domestic violence etc. Community service is the mother of them all,now social work,youth care,child safety and disability so many of them are under community serv. . .
Just what I knw. Someone else might have another meaning.
I was also on d verge of applying for social work and youth blablabla.
But jenny said "anyone interested in community develop should rather go for nursing" and so I am for nursing now. Had 3 letters of offer already. Just waiting for tastafe and my IELTS before I proceed.

ferdimako: It's very strange...you see folks battling with singular verbs etc making 110 and I can't make 20 all bands. Am not blaming myself...I guess am stressed,ill-luck and I believe the exam bodies are not sincere.

I'll lodge with IELTS GT if that makes more sense if not the TOEFL.On PR, either the IELTS GT comes up fine or I marry an Australian and rest my case.

Did you go for TAFE or direct diploma

manmeta: Write the first three lines. Find the average no. of words for those three lines. That would be your average per line. Use that to calculate the no. of lines you're going to write. It's not a problem if you shoot more than these by additional 3 to 5 lines.
For example, if your average for the first three lines is 8 words per line, then for a 150-word essay, your total no. of lines would be about 20. You can make that like 25 to cater for paragraphs.

ferdimako: For PR, the long list has jobs that are needed in the regional areas and sponsored ones (Subclass 489 and 190). If u go for those ones, you have to fulfil the regional conditions and live and work there for like two years before going to continue life elsewhere. While the shorter list has occupation meant of Subclass 189-independent.You only fulfil what skillselect wants and live and work in anywhere you want or your skill is needed.

485visa is the 18months visa

RedReact: It's the graduate visa first, after which you an niw start filling for the PR. You dont really have to study for the SOL programs before you can apply for the PR, but since some programs are more lucrative than the others, it will be beneficial to study the SOL listed programs.

On th DIAC web site you will see under the qraduate visa, there is also an SOL list, which is shorter than the other list and they said you have to nominate an occupation on that list for u to apply for the 18months visa
What I'm getting really confuse about is. What if ur skill is not on the list.but is on the other long CSOL list

i think you should have the $18610 + the other stated amount for your dependent in your sponsor acct, so both of you can get the visa and he can come join you in 2months time

ferdimako: Yeah and that's why I am working on my PR really hard from Nigeria. When it matures, hopefully within a year am in Australia, I will make good use of that status. I don't want to wait for PR while in Nigeria because that will make me jobless as I'm leaving my crippling workplace.I don't want to go live with my brothers because I don't understand them. Even my school fees will be bankrolled by my pal---am happy I have him.

It is N100 here in Jos.My brother even lost or misplaced his original copy and now he uses the certified online-printed copy.Again Australia and its bodies just love certified documents
