Family › Re: What Do You Remember About December And Christmas. by Mindlog:
I miss December harmattan!😂😂😂

As a kid, I always did look forward to my dad driving us to the village from Lagos for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

My parents made SURE we all don't travel together (dem no fit shout😂). So my mum, one boy and one girl travel by public transport (luxury bus😂), 2 days later, my dad and the rest of the children travel to the village with the family car.

Leaving Lagos at about 6a.m, the kids will be eager to be the first to sight the signboards of WELCOME TO OGUN STATE..ONDO...EDO...DELTA, then we will stop at Agbor to eat in a restaurant, their akpu and yellow garri were premium..the journey continued.

The next big thing, we looked forward to see was the River Niger bridge, whoever is the first to sight and shout it, is like winning the Champions league!😂😎😂

There is this spiritual feel about finally driving through that River Niger bridge, the stretch of body of water, Osadebe's songs playing in the car stereo as we head towards Onitsha.

Onitsha is premium madness, the cacophony there no get part 2 as everything there looked so fast forwarded in the eyes of child!😂😂😂

In the traffic, street hawkers vigourously shoving into our car, loaves of Our Lady's bread and Blessed Goodwill bread. My dad would end up buying about 20 loaves of bread...see sales tactics.😂

For many igbos, t is an abomination to travel to the village without loaves of bread in the mix, even my elder sister who is a Rev.Sister based in the US, few days ago flew all the way from New York and on her one hour drive to the village from Owerri airport, had to stop on the way to buy dozens of loaves of bread, there are things that will always be part of you.

Leaving Onitsha, we head towards Oba, Oraifite, Ozubulu, Ihiala, Uli then finally WELCOME TO IMO STATE, everyone dead tired...an extra 1hr 30mins drive, we are our in village compound with shouts of joy from our relatives, car is being offloaded, our older relatives commenting we have grown, our agemates looking at us with admiration....make I stop here to go continue my daily 2K hustle. 😂😂😂

Hi everyone

Hope y'all doing good

So I'm looking for a country to study in as an undergrad for either computer science or mechanical engineering
So I'm open to al countries in Europe and Canada but not the US.

About funds
I don't have anyone who's willing to fund me, so I'm hoping ok getting a full scholarship ..

And I don't plan on learning a language for the program
I would love it to be taught in English
But when I get to the country I can learn their language.

As of now my only qualification is my Waec
And sat(1240. R&W -540, Math- 700) and I don't think that would be useful since my destination isn't the US for now.

As for my Waec:
Eng B3
Math A1
Phy A1
Chem C5
Further math -A1
Biology C4
Geography B3
It's quite low for what I want id appreciate your honest opinions

If any one has a suggestion, an option for me or anything you feel I should know about
Pls help me , I'll look into it and weigh my options
I'd appreciate it
I would advise you to get admitted into a Nigerian university to study one of the 2 courses, while still looking out for international scholarships....time flies and you do not want to waste it.

Husband, you said she is your wife, and you have found out the truth on how much is the daughter's fees.
Please ask her where she put the balance of the remaining money over the period of years that you have been giving her same.....
Her response will make you know if you marry an asset or liability.

How much is in your account. I bet you major things you have are on finance if truly you're not suffering
Why should I tell how much is in my account...as who?

That all the people with families you know who lives abroad are struggling, does not mean it is same for everyone.

One who is a Senior Clinical Practitioner (Grade 12) working full-time (36hrs/week) as a permanent staff of a borough in Central London, is not suffering.

That monthly minimum wage your relatives in Nigeria earn, is what I earn under an hour for online psychotherapy sessions, which is my online side hustle....if e easy to be a UKCP and BACP accredited Psychotherapist, go run am and see if you will still be financially broke.

Canada2021:
Hi Nairalanders,

I am a Nigerian based in the US. I grew up in one of the southern states in Nigeria. I met my fiancee who is based in Nigeria, Lagos to be precised. I came down to Nigeria for the introduction and we intend to do a small bride price payment due to the type of relocation path I want to use to bring her to the US which doesn’t require us to be legally married or even traditionally married.

Due to the nature of the visa type which I want to use to bring my wife to the US, I suggested to my fiancee and her family to do the bride price and a small igbankwu ceremony in Lagos where her parents reside. I also pleaded to them that i was ready to pay any fine from their village (Anambra State). This is because I am trying to control the number of persons that have knowledge of the ceremony because if I dont her visa will be denied because she is married to me.

Another reason why I suggested we do all of this in her fathers house in Lagos was because of the insecurity in the eastern part as I do not want to be liable for anybody’s death or kidnap in the event that this happens because they are coming to celebrate with me.

Sadly, her parents have refused to bulge as they are insisting that this must be done in the east. I am really worried and confused on what to do.
There are many waving red flags in your story, from your end.

It is not a MUST to marry someone based in Nigeria, marry someone already there in the US who you don't have to sneak to marry and certain "visa type" to relocate to the US.
