You don't have to be mentally retarded to see a Psychiatrist.

One who is struggling with anxiety can see a Psychiatrist, who would prescribe anti-anxiety medication for the person to take and they continue with their regular life.

I certainly do not run after them, I sit down and have therapy sessions with them, individually and in groups. Some keep quiet throughout the sessions, some mumbling incoherently while others will be insulting but I am trained not to take it personal as I work to support them through the struggles.

You are prepared theoretically for it in class through taught courses: psychopathology, neuropharmacology, human sexuality, drugs and substance abuse, psychological assessment, abnormal psychology, personality disorders, neuropsychology, and about 40 other courses, then in the final year one gets do the practicum in prisons and psychiatric facilities to experience the real world of working with mentally disordered people.

We Need more psych nurses, doctors, etc.....mental health in Nigeria does not have enough resources, human or otherwise.

Nigeria currently has less than 300 Psychiatrists, available to over 200 million people and they are migrating on the regular.

She inherited her love for Psychiatry from her mom.

They borrow and mismanage it.
