Politics / BREAKING NEWS-EFCC Arrests Ohakim For Corruption by Miracleojo(m): 2:20pm On Jun 18, 2015
A former Imo State governor, Ihedi Ohakim, was on Thursday arrested by
operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Ohakim, who was scheduled to visit the EFCC office in Abuja on Wednesday,
had shunned the invitation, prompting the commission to pick him up to
clarify and answer questions on an ongoing investigation into allegations of
corruption and embezzlement by his government.
The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Ohakim is in their
custody.

Politics / ‘amnesty International's Report Sponsored To Distract Buhari’ by Miracleojo(m): 7:33am On Jun 18, 2015
A coalition of civil society organisations has faulted the report of the Amnesty International, which indicted some serving and former Nigerian military officers for alleged human rights violations in the North-East geo-political zone.

The coalition described the report as “lopsided and maliciously orchestrated by some disgruntled elements to distract the Presidency.”

The convener of the coalition, Dr. Nwambu Gabriel, at a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, said, “We believe that AI’s report is rather a distraction because it is too early for a government that is less than one month. President (Muhammadu) Buhari should be allowed to settle down since the fight against insurgency is still ongoing. AI should stop looking for cheap popularity.

“AI should as a matter of urgency render a written apology to the Nigerian military for raising false alarm, wrong information and misinformation to the international community.”

Gabriel said the AI’s report failed to expose the atrocities perpetrated by members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect.

He said, “AI was quick in passing its judgment because the war against insurgency is still on. The AI should probe countries aiding and financing Boko Haram and bring out the atrocities perpetrated by the sect.

“Nigerians have suffered because of these insurgents; after Boko Haram has been wiped out, AI should come out with a comprehensive report. The AI’s report is lopsided because it did not give information as to the number of military personnel that were killed by the insurgents. We reject the report in its totality.”

According to him, the Nigerian military has demonstrated its stand on discipline on peacekeeping operations abroad and in Nigeria, stressing that it would be a disservice if it fails to tell the truth.

“AI has deliberately decided to accuse and stigmatise individual officers who are known to be committed in this war against the terror group, citing instances gathered from some disgruntled elements and faceless collaborators, which is a clear sign of grossly biased judgement.

“The assembling of specific names of some senior officers within the military buttresses this fact by an organisation that is expected to be fair and just to all,” Gabriel stressed.

Politics / Ohakim Shuns EFCC, Operatives Grill Elechi Again by Miracleojo(m): 7:24am On Jun 18, 2015
A former Imo State governor, Ihedi Ohakim, failed to show up at the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday to clarify some issues raised
against him during the probe of his administration.
Ohakim, who was scheduled to visit the Abuja headquarters of the
commission, was summoned to answer questions in an ongoing investigation
into allegations of corruption and embezzlement by his government.
This was as a former governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi, was grilled for
the second day running by EFCC operatives over allegations of
misappropriation of funds by his government.
Elechi, who left the commission around 4.30pm, is expected to visit the EFCC
again next week.
The spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Elechi was
again interrogated, adding that he might be needed for further questioning
next week.
Uwujaren stated that Ikedi was expected to shed more light on issues in an
old case being investigated by the anti-agency.
He said, “We were expecting a former governor of Imo State, Ihedi Ohakim,
today (Wednesday) to come and shed light on some issues in an old case we
have been investigating. We are about rounding off the investigation and we
need him to clarify some issues, but he didn’t show up, he may still come
today or tomorrow.
“Elechi was at our office today (Wednesday) in continuation of the
questioning on some issues we are investigating; he came in the morning and
was released later, but we are expecting him again next week.”

Politics / Protesters Storm National Assembly . by Miracleojo(m): 7:14am On Jun 18, 2015
Protesters storm N’Assembly, demand death penalty for corruption
1 hour ago

Some protesters stormed the National Assembly on Wednesday and demanded a legislation that would prescribed death penalty as punishment for corruption in the country.

Speaking under a group, Voice of the Voiceless, they said there was no way Nigeria would made progress if corruption in public office was not brought under control.

They wrote separate letters to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara.

In the letter to the House, which was signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Oliver Ezeala, the protesters wrote, “Corruption, as we are all aware of, has eaten so deep into the fabric of this great nation and we are strongly advocating the death penalty to anybody who is found guilty of corrupt practices, no matter how highly-placed such an individual is in the society.

“Nigeria has tried every other measure of deterrent but to no avail.

“We want this great nation to toe the path of countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, China and other world powers who have achieved so much developmental strides as a result of their zero tolerance for corruption.”

However, they said they were confident that with President Muhammadu Buhari in power, the fight against corruption would be fast-tracked.

“We believe that he will fight this our common hydra-headed enemy to a complete standstill,” the letter added.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr. Yusuf Lasun, on Wednesday deplored the high rate of unemployment in the country.

Lasun observed that to make matters worse, there were many fraudsters who engaged in employment racketeering by collecting money from youths for non-existing jobs.

Lasun spoke in Abuja when some Osun State indigenes paid him a visit at the National Assembly.

However, he promised that the current House would partner the executive arm of government to address the situation.

“Since the (federal) capital was moved out of Lagos, it is very difficult to get employment for our people.

“It is horrible to hear that people collect money from young graduates to get employed,” he told the visitors.

The Osun Indigenes, made up mainly of National Assembly employees, were led by the President of Association of Osun State Indigenes, Mr. Oluremi Ajibade.

THE UNFLINCHING PATRIOTISM (HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY)

Arise, o compatriots, Nigeria's call obey. These are the words of the starting line of the Nigerian National Anthem. How many of us ponder on the wording.

Today marks the 16th year of uninterrupted democracy. It doesn't Just stop at that, it also marks the birth of a new administration, the consolidation of our democracy.

This is a sequel to my write-up, " the change we need ",calling for the re-orientation of our ratiocination as a people, It's not a coincidence that we have a change in administration at a time There is a need for a total amendment of our patriotism fabric.

With high spirit we expect the transformation of our nation from the abyss, and the harbinger of doom to place of glory and beauty. A nation Where everyone puts selfishness apart and we all embrace self abnegation and national aggrandizement.

Let the change we seek start from our corner,Let us stand against that which is wrong, Let us immolate corruption, we must rise to cremate indiscipline and bribery. Let us tell the whole world we are capable of building our nation.

Finally, we must pledge our unalloyed and unflinching loyalty and support to the incoming administration irrespective of our political, religious and personal idiosyncrasies. Together we will make this country great.

HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY.

"you said what"he said in a low ,solemn voice,he was boiling with emotion.Could it be that he had made up his mind, its like he had been dealt enough bad card,he had lost his parents. He felt like he had no heart again.Whosoever was doing this was only going to make his world a hell just as he was felling in his heart. He became silent,he wasn't crying but his heart was thirsty-not for water but for vengeance, for a payback, for a recompense, for retribution.

In his heart deep down he was ready to fight to the blood,to become a spartan,to forfeit his dream of becoming a medical doctor to firstly find the killer and secondly satisfy his vengeful thirst on whosoever it was that had decided to make him miserable, without any relative. He belieeved it was a game and he believed the god of the had allowed him live to avenge.

He was brought broke back with unneccessary explanation of the nurse"He was shot in his bed.The police are around trying to fix some things"

To him that was medicine after death,it made no sense which ever why.He was silent and suddenly he flung away the sheet on him and began to run towards the door.

Jeff was even moreconfused after dropping the phone into his pocket, the doctor was no longerin his front, only the nurse was standing with her hand folded over her chest.

"Any problem. Is there any trouble"the nurse asked.she felt concerned seeing the look on Jeff's face.

"There is a little problem.please help me inform the doctor I will come and see him later".jeff said facing the nurse.she turned and left after wishing him well.Jeff was just pacing the hospital open field when the idea of getting through to the driver struck him.He picked is fone from is pocket and dialed the drivers number. After three attempts he gave up the trial, the fone was switched off.

Few minutes later, his fone rang and behold it was clear and plain on the screen "aunty".He picked the call almost immediately he saw the callername. All he could hear was a feminine voice screaming at the other end of the call.

"why did you kill him.Why did you kill ken".the voice was speaking now but it was sounding very far,she was not close to the phone at all.

"If she isn't coperating you can eliminate her, there can be any other person as stuborn as this bitch"a very hoarse, terrible masculine voice said.

Just after those statements a loud gunshot almost sending jeff that was listening to the conversation deaf.Jeff phone had been dialed mistakenly. There was long a moment of silence before he heard them speak again.

He knew uncle's wife had been shot.Whoever was doing that was really wicked. He didn't know who was going to die next.He was in this state when his mind flashed back to how happy he was about two months ago,how he had planned going to australia for his sessional break. His mind became weak,he lost stamina due to the fact that he hadn't eaten since morning and this tumultous situation. He collapsed......

****************************************************

He woke up rather too weak and insalubrous. His mind was running through the incidences when a nurse came in.It was at the moment he saw the nurse he realised he was in bed.

"you just have to relax jeff and stop thinking, you have to take heart and be strong. You have to be a man"she consoled as much as she wanted to encourage him.

"I will be fine as long as my uncle is fine" jeff said as much as he wanted to be strong

The nurse looked at him,her palms rubbing over each other.she stooped to atleast curtail his reaction.she broke the news "sorry,he was killed some minutes ago".

"Hello, gentle man can I see your licence?" one of the policemen asked looking sternly at jeff.
"sir, its an emergency case,I needed to get to the hospital fast.I forgot to pick it" jeff replied without any sign on his face showing that he was lying.
The policeman bidded him to go.Four minutes later he was already at the hospital. Two nurses came up with a stretcher and they move his uncle into the emergency ward.
Jeff stood akimbo, totally confused annd was wondering who could be on the mission of exterminating the wright family. In this discombobulation he was when one of the nurses that took his uncle came approaching him with someone he most likely knew was a doctor.
"How is my uncle, his he fine?"jeff asked moving his glance like a pendulum trying to look at who was going to talk
" we tried our best......"the doctor was explaining when jeff cut him short.
"please don't tell me that doctor"
"young man, relax and let me land. we tried our best to keep him a bit stable but that won't last long.we need to perform thoracotomy to fix him" the doctor explained and continued "he had a deflated lung,he was lucky it wasn't a tamponade. where is his wife?".
It was at that point Jeff remembered that he hadn't even called his uncle's wife.He picked his phone from his pocket holding with a hand while the other limb was angled to his waist. He serched for aunty n his fone,he had saved her GSM number as aunty.
"Hello ma,there is trouble ooo"jeff said after the call was answered.
" hello, youngman, what is the trouble"a masculine voice spoke from the other end.
"please I want to talk to the owner of this fone" jeff retorted sounding impatient.
"I will indulge you to watch how you speak" the voice said with every strictness.
"jeff, any problem?" a feminine voice spoke from the other end.
Jeff knew who was speaking by instinct."uncle was shot about an hour ago,he is in the family hospital.you are needed now at the place"jeff explained.
The fone was in speaker while jeff spoke. The guy heard everything jeff said."so,that bastard isn't dead."the voice said and the call was aborted.

He was still in this deep thought,in this harbinger of confusion was he wheñ his uncle moved an arm."oh my God,he is still alive"he said as he rushed down over to his side.He was wasn't dead yet.
He rushed into his bedroom to pick up the keys to his car,he was back in less than ten seconds. He heaved up his unçle unto his shoulder,he must have gotten the strenght due to adrenalin surge,he was just seventeen.
He was the only person at home as the driver had gone out with his uncle's wife to a programme, nobody to lend him any help.He managed to drop him at the back seat of the car.
who would drive?,he could drive but he had no licence,he wasn't up to eighten. He was ready to break the law to save his uncle's life,he was ready to take the risk. And off he sped.

Wen u dnt knw sumtin, perhaps at all do not write "impossible". Point of correction its not jamb dat offers admission but school. D only responsibility of jamb is to notify students of dere admission or admissions as d case may be..mind u its very much possible for someone to be offered admission in 6 skuls altogether..college, poly, and university..but d rule is: it is required u reject d admission of any skul u wish to in a situation of multiple admission..so my bro mind ur use of "impossible".
I thought you were asking for advice,u sounded rude and haughty....watch it,you aren't the first to get admission into two highly rated uni.....
