Ghana’s largest local beverage manufacturer, Kasapreko, has so far lost about US$2 million in revenue to the closure of the Nigerian-Benin Border, the Head of International Business Development for the company has said.

According to Francis Holly Adzah, even though the beverage firm “managed to send in three trucks of products to the Nigerian market moments before the border was closed,” four other trucks loaded with products – one at the border and the others at the premises of the manufacturing company – have been left grounded.

“In September, we lost US$1 million to the closure. October is almost ended and our checks show a loss of another million dollars. The situation is getting out of hand and very serious,” Mr Holly Adzah told reporters in an exclusive interview.

Checks have revealed the beverage firm has exhausted all its products in the Nigerian market – a critical situation which has seen them being overtaken by competitors.

Meanwhile, Kasapreko says it is venturing into other ready markets apart from Nigeria to make up for the losses.

According to Mr Holly Adzah, the company is looking at entering Ivory Coast, Senegal, Togo, Benin and other European markets.

Ghana’s exports to Nigeria was $80.96 million in 2018, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade.

The Vice president of Nigeria, Prof Osibanjo through his lawyers Femi Atoyebi & Co has threatened to sue Root TV media over YouTube content.

Femi Atoyebi & Co, solicitors acting on behalf of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, has written a petition to Google Nigeria demanding the suspension of a video published by Roots TV on YouTube.

According to the letter seen by TheCable, Roots TV was said to have published a material which contained defamatory claims about Osinbajo.

Original certificate can only be issued once by the assessment body. Any other replacement is an ATTESTATION LETTER. This has been issued by WAEC to Buhari and confirmed by the deputy registrar of WAEC

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says it has arrested many Nigerians in an ongoing investigation related to fraud cases.

In a press conference monitored by TheCable on Thursday, Nick Hanna, US attorney, said the fraud cases involved suspects colluding with federal and state agents to dupe unsuspecting victims of their money.

He said a total of 80 suspects “many of whom are from Nigeria” have been arrested and charged to court with 57 more being hunted globally.

He said: “FBI agents along with federal and state law enforcement authorities arrested a total of 14 defendants in the US, all named in a sweeping fraud and money laundering case.

“Those arrested today are among 80 defendants charged in a federal grand jury indictment that alleges that millions of dollars were taken from victims through a variety of scams and online frauds.

“We believe this is one of the largest cases of its kind in US history. BEC scam is used to hack email accounts to convince businesses or individuals to make payments that are either completely bogus or that should have been otherwise paid to legitimate companies.

“Indictments showed very specific allegations against this suspects many of whom are based in Nigeria in terms of stealing money from victims. The indictment also focuses on those responsible for enabling these fraud schemes including operatives in Los Angeles.”

Hanna said some of the victims were targeted specifically because they were elderly or vulnerable.

He added that a total of 252 count charges ranging from “conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, aggravated identity theft” have been filed against the suspects.

A copy of election results is usually given to a representative of security agencies present at polling units, RAC, state level after collation
