World Bank Group president, Jim Yong Kim Nigeria has been ranked among the seven worst countries in the newly released World Bank’s Human Capital Index. In the index that was released on Thursday at the World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings, in Bali, Indonesia, Nigeria ranked 152 out of 157 countries on the list. Nigeria shared the bottom of the index with countries like Chad, South Sudan, Niger, Mali, Liberia. According to the World Bank Group president, Jim Yong Kim, Nigeria is an example of an oil-rich country that neglected its education system. Guardian UK quoted him as saying that Nigeria spends less than four per cent of her Gross Domestic Product on education. He added that even then, most of the funds come from the World Bank and other donors, with only a small amount from the finance ministry. Kim said, “Too many African countries say they are working hard to get rich and then they will spend on health and education. What we are saying is that they need to focus on health and education now.” Meanwhile, a statement by the World Bank revealed that the HCI shows that 56 per cent of children born today across the world will lose more than half their potential lifetime earnings because governments are not currently making effective investments in their people to ensure a healthy, educated, and resilient population ready for the workplace of the future. “For the poorest people, human capital is often the only capital they have,” World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim said. “Human capital is a key driver of sustainable, inclusive economic growth, but investing in health and education has not gotten the attention it deserves. This index creates a direct line between improving outcomes in health and education, productivity, and economic growth. I hope that it drives countries to take urgent action and invest more – and more effectively – in their people. “The bar is rising for everyone,” Kim added. “Building human capital is critical for all countries, at all income levels, to compete in the economy of the future. “The Human Capital Index measures the amount of human capital that a child born today can expect to attain by age 18, given the risks of poor health and education that prevail in the country where he or she lives.” The Index measures each country’s distance to the frontier of complete education and full health for a child born today. The measure includes survival, school and health. https://punchng.com/nigeria-among-seven-worst-countries-on-world-banks-human-capital-index/

Daviddson:God go bless U. This one has made me hate Buhari the more. What nonsense. |
Kahujadekadura:Yes. U are right. It will not be easy but that's the fastest way. Those who have the mind and courage of Kanu should get into the system. The rest can support by voting those who are like Kanu into offices. It's a dream that can be archived. One step at a time. Thanks my brother. |
Kahujadekadura:I get ur point 100%. But U must understand that the politicians are not made in heaven. They are ppl like me & U. Stop acting like they were born to represent U. No step into the game and represent ur own ppl who believe in Biafra. Just as Atiku is trying to push himself to the helm of affairs in country with the idea of restructuring Nigeria. And giving reasons why a restructured Nigeria is better than what we have today, IPOB can get many Nnamdi Kanus, including U, to get into the NASS. Don't do it like Kanu who did things that attracted court cases. Stay low map out a plan, get into the red chamber & then start pushing for referendum. Are U aware that they are Northern politicians who have gone into the NASS during the last by-election with the sole aim of pushing for a third term in office for Buhari? Google it and U will see the news. The Northerners know they can't fight from outside so they get into the system through votes and support from cow people sends them to the NASS to make laws that favour his own ppl. |
gidgiddy:OK. I agree with U. The question we are asking is HOW can Biafra exit Nigeria. What's the plan? How can we archive the Biafra dream? HOW. HOW. HOW. HOOOOOOOOOOW. |
gidgiddy:Yes, we all agree. The big question is how. HOW. Please answer HOW! We are all in support of Biafra but the HOW is the big problem. |
bosco2017:The fraudulent system can help Biafrans archive their dreams if they play smart (not stupid). All the senators in Nigeria are there to represent their people in NASS. The question is, who is representing Biafra? In as much as a want Biafra, U can't get it this way. Never. It will only lead to deaths. South Africans wanted others out of their land. This means they were already in the system unofficially. Biafrans wants out, this means they must get into the system to get out. |
bosco2017:What a rubbish talk from someone who claims to no politics. In Nigeria, U take things by force. |
bosco2017:You can't get it by just shouting it. U must get into the system and take power. |
gidgiddy:I think they have to get into the system before pushing for Biafra. No one drives a car from outside. |
landmark86:So U think? Lol that guy can't even travel to US. Shame. |
kingviny:HE GO STILL FAIL. |
He go fail. No hope for PDP with Atiku. |
engineerboat:APC don win election. Congregations in advance. |
jaykaylegend:. If you couldn't foresee his future before he became a star, then there is no way you can foresee his career going down. Na God get power. U have no say in his life build ur own career. |
cashlurd:You are simply not following the news or just trying to spread fake report. |
Davedblues:Don't understand what U wrote sha. Manager might not be very good but with what was done in Delta under Uduaghan, that guy has nothing to offer. |
WarriAproko:Na small diff sha. |
buhariguy:Okowa I will rate 40% Udughan na 20% Ibori 60% Buhari 5% Manager 30% That's my score for all 4. Agree or not that's my score. |
buhariguy:If U are not based in Delta state please close ur mouth & face ur front. Stop spreading unconfirmed report because Buhari is ur Almighty God. For D records, Uduaghan is one of the most useless governors Delta state has ever had. We even wished he failed to get another 2nd term in office |
Buterflyle0:Killing still happening in Benue. One was reported on Friday. Another happened last weekend. See links: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/10/gunmen-kill-14-injure-scores-in-benue/ |

Archive something that Nigerians want. Power, Security, Jobs, Education and Healthcare. The fundamental obligations are missing & he is chasing stupid award that adds ZERO to Naija's economy. What a failed government we have on board. It's a shame I once supported this lifeless president. |
maasoap:PDP now looks like a much better party after most of the corrupt souls defected to APC. APC houses most corrupt politicians today because to politicians, it looks like the surest ticket to the national cake especially in South West. |
Some Buharist will still rush here to support him. |
In what seemed like a coordinated attack, presidential aspirant and founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, and members of his #TakeItBack movement were tear-gassed while prostrating before the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, on Monday. As the situation deteriorated, Sowore rushed to check up on students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), who accompanied him to the palace. He was in the process physically assaulted by thugs within the palace premises. Palace sources, who asked not to be named, revealed to Sahara Reporters that the reason for the assault was that Sowore initially refused to prostrate to the Ooni to protest the three-hour delay in attending to members of the movement who had waited for the Ooni. As the incident unravelled, one student and another member of the royal household collapsed due to respiratory challenges arising from the toxic fumes. Sowore, who confronted the Ooni on the assault on his person and members of his movement, wondered why a guest would be attacked within palace premises. Responding, the Ooni swiftly condemned the attack, saying such had never happened before in a palace in Nigeria and called for calm and restraint on both sides. He regretted the ugly incident, describing it as embarrassing. He assured Sowore of his continued support and collaboration. Expressing shock while commenting on the incident as it was being streamed live on Facebook, Adedayo Gabriel Fatoki said: “Attack?? In the Palace? By who?” “Thank God you guys are okay. This is highly condemnable,” Precious Umoera, another member of the public, said. https://naijaroko.com/2018/09/11/for-protesting-three-hour-wait-sowore-and-takeitback-movement-tear-gassed-at-ooni-of-ifes-palace/ Mynd44 OAM4J

Netflix has bought worldwide rights to Genevieve Nnaji’s comedy “Lionheart” on the eve of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. According to Variety, Netflix announced the deal Friday. The film will premiere at TIFF on Saturday. “Lionheart” marks the first Netflix original film from Nigeria. Nnaji stars with Nkem Owoh, Pete Edochie, and Onyeka Onwenu. The story follows a daughter who’s forced to work with her feckless uncle in order to save her father’s ailing bus company. Nnaji plays Adaeze, a level-headed executive in her father’s bus company, Lionheart Transport. When her father (played by Edochie) falls ill, both she and her rival (Kalu Egbui Ikeagwu) are passed over in favor of the uncle, played by Owoh. Complications arise when they discover that the family business is in dire financial straits — leading to absurd results as they try to save the company. The film also touches on everyday sexism that saturates the workplace, as well as the delicate balance between honoring one’s family while finding the courage to strike out on one’s own. Nnaji also wrote the script with Chinny Onwugbenu, Ishaya Bako, Emil Garuba, and C.J. Obasi. “Lionheart” is produced by T.E.N. — The Entertainment Network. MPM Premium handled the sale. https://naijaroko.com/2018/09/07/netflix-buys-genevieve-nnajis-comedy-movie-lionheart/ Briareos, prof800 , UjSizzle

Presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore arrived in Lagos, Nigeria to a rapturous welcome and reveals what transpired between himself and Pastor Olukoya of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry. It was reported on Monday that the General Overseer, MFM, Dr Daniel Olukoya, had filed a libel suit against the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Mr Omoyele Sowore, demanding N10bn in damages. In the suit filed before the Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo, the MFM founder said he was constrained to take legal action against Sowore, his online platform, Sahara Reporters Incorporated and the Incorporated Trustees of Sahara Media Foundation for their alleged failure to desist from publishing false and malicious articles against him and his church, MFM, since 2013. The cleric said despite complaints, Sowore and his Sahara Reporters remained intransigent and continued to publish offending stories about him and his church. Olukoya said he had earlier demanded that Sahara Reporters pull down all the offending stories against him and his church within seven days but Omoyele and his platform refused. He said having failed to take advantage of the seven days he gave them, he had no other option but to sue them. Reacting to this development, Mr Omoyele Sowore told NaijaRoko TV that he was only doing his job. Sowore added that he was told that Olukoya was ready to sponsor his Presidential ambition but he turned down the offer. He also revealed that his unwillingness to meet with Pastor Olukoya resulted to him going to get a judge from Uyo. Speaking on what made him make an investigative report about the pastor, Sowore said one of Olukoya’s pastors disclosed that the Man of God was importing books into the US as nonprofit, but when the books were sold, Olukoya collected profit for the books. His word: “I have done reporting on a lot of things, on the cabals in this country and you know in this country they are a lot of cabals they are religious cabals, traditional cabals, political cabals and economic cabals so I have done all of them. Remember the one that was sleeping in a prostitute in Canada [Pastor Suleiman]. “In case of Olukoya, Olukoya had churches all over the world and after a while he set up all these pastors to be sending money to them. “The pastors wanted to become greedy so they stopped sending money to the headquarters and so he (Olukoya) sued the pastors in the US, in Maryland asking him to relinquish all the properties they both own together, that pastor challenged him in court and in the process of challenging Olukoya, the the pastor spilled on Olukoya that Olukoya has been importing books into the US as nonprofit, but when they sell them, he collects them back as profit. So my job was to report on all these shenanigans.” Mr Sowore adds that Pastor Olukoya invited him for a meeting but he refused to honour the invitation. “He (Olukoya) sent a message to me in this office, he sent one guy to me in this office that he wants to meet and I said I don’t do meetings with people that I report on because it will be regarded as blackmail. After I have reported on you, I’ll now go and have one secret meeting with you,” Sowore said. The Sahara Reporters publisher said he was told that Pastor Olukoya wanted to sponsor his Presidential ambition but he turned down the offer. His words: “I said I’m not doing any meetings, the guy then came up to me and said ‘I see you’re running for president the man can backbone you’. I don’t need his money I need the support of Nigerians and the moment Nigerians supporters us we will win the election hands down. ” So it was then he now went to go and look for a judge in Uyo, imagine a man of God that is on Lagos-Ibadan express way now going to look for a judge in a case that doesn’t involve any person in Uyo. “My suspicion is that they found a judge who probably is a member of their church who said that he will teach Sowore a lesson it’s not going to happen.” Sowore adds that he doesn’t want any member of their church to feel a man of God is God. “They are businessmen like every other person in this country,” in this country. https://naijaroko.com/2018/09/05/sowore-reacts-to-10-billion-naira-suit-filed-by-olukoya-against-him/ OAM4J , Mynd44

Following a report that Omoyele Sowore rejected PACT result, in which Fela Durotoye emerged as the consensus candidate, the TakeItBack Movement said Omoyele Sowore never signed a MoU with PACT and therefore has no dealings with the PACT consensus candidate, Fela Durotoye. A statement posted on Sowore’s verified Facebook page on Friday reads: “We are not a part of PACT. We made our position on PACT known several weeks ago. We have ALWAYS maintained that 13 people in a room is NOT democracy. We never signed an MoU with PACT, but those who think there is no news without the #TakeItBack Movement being mentioned insist on peddling lies. #StillStanding #Sowore2019 # Consequential.” According to Oby Ezekwesili, a former Minister of Education, the 11 presidential aspirant that finalized their MoU & signed, before voting among themselves include: 1.
