I had a stunt with a lady from work on
Sunday. She and I work for different
employers, she for the client, I for the
contractor. I had never talked to her before until
a friend of hers who is also my padi mentioned
her to me and would not stop talking about her.
After much persuasion, I decided to give
befriending her a shot.
She was more receptive than I envisaged and
since then we've been casually saying hi and
stuff.
On Saturday of the outgone weekend I called
her and asked about her weekend, she replied
saying she didn't have anything she was going
to be doing, so I suggested we meet on
Sunday.
We decided to meet after church service, and
she was to call me when she closed from
service.
Her call came in at about 5pm. I got dressed
up, wearing a borrowed Tshirt 'cause all mine
were rumpled, pocketed 2k 'cause, well, I am
cheap and I live within a cheap budget, with a
principle that does not allow me spend more
than 2k on a date.
I got to the venue and met her already awaiting
my presence. She looked beautiful wearing a
black dress,which revealed some cleavage, her
light skin glowed underneath the sunset.
I ordered for drinks which totalled at 1400
Naira. Still well within my budget, I planned I
was gong to use #100 for my transport back
home, spend the leftover #500 on hiring a Keke
Maruwa that would take her back home.
Everything was going according to plan, things
were going fine , it was a good time to be alive
until she said she felt like chewing.
At first I acted like I did not hear what she said
till she said it again and I interjected with
'nope, chewing is bad for teeth'
She laughed and beckoned on the waiter to
come over. In shock I yelled 'wait, wait!', and
brought out the whole #1500, dropped it on the
table and told her that was all I had with me.
She did not budge but called the waiter, made
orders for two plates of meat while I sat there
trying to manage the awkward feeling I had
developed in less than a minute. I couldn't
picture how the whole drama would play out.
At last she brought out her purse, gave the
waiter some money: I picked up my #1500,
gave it to the waiter but he returned the money,
said the money she gave him had already paid
for the plates of meat.
