When u arrive, visit ur school's international department. U will be given the website and the documents and steps needed to get the authorization letter. It can take upto to 30 days to get the letter so it's not an immediate thing but not a stressful process tho. All the best
vinnygod: @missbon thank you for taking time to explain that...always cherish ur contributions but pls can u elaborate the procudures to take in applying for this authorization! Hope I didn't ask much
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by missbon(f): 5:39pm On Jul 20, 2014
It simply means, u can't just begin to work when u enter Canada. U have to apply for authorization first then a letter will be issued. It wil be taken to a place called service Canada then a SIN number(social insurance number) will be issued. Then you can now start to work for 20hrs a week.
vinnygod: On June 1, 2014, if you hold a study permit but you have not yet applied for an Off-Campus Work Permit, you are authorized to work off campus without a work permit as long as you meet the eligibility requirements for working off campus.
Please I need some guruz to help interpret this clause above explicitly cuz am a bit nervous about wat Kingsolve said regarding the condition stated on his study permit ( except authorised, you re not eligible to work) does the clause really mean you ain't eligible for off-campus work if ur trv was issued from may 31st upwards. Thou curious but concern

cessna150: @missbon can u please PM me your email addy? Thanks
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by missbon(f): 12:10am On Jul 17, 2014
You need to show atleast a recent four months soa so pls don't leave anything relevant out. This is a super important doc for ur application, if it's incomplete, they may not request for the rest and a final decision will be made which may not lead to a good outcome
All the best
ManTiger: Not at all maam. I just wish he doesn't make mistake like i did cos there is little or nothing anyone can do to adjust the form after submission. Can you/anyone tell if they will certainly request for the rest of the SOA cos its very voluminious and i just scanned and uploaded the first page that has total dr, cr, a/c name and balance.

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by missbon(f): 8:22pm On Jul 12, 2014
Some of the colleges judge based on the courses u have done before not necessarily the cgpa. Some peeps got their admission with a 2.5cgpa so don't just rely on what they wrote, u can send in ur application to the colleges to see the outcome if you wish.
All the best
zerray: but their pgd is 3.0 CGPA o,do you know anyone that did some undergrad courses just to booast their CGPA before masters, since the CGPA is below 3.0

I want to say thank you to missbon and BaaleofMontreal for their immense help during my application process; as well as everybody who's contributed over time. The posts were a massive help. To the TRV and medical hopefuls I pray you get your good news soon. Spend less time fretting over already submitted applications and medical call ups and more time praying and trusting God and watch him put a smile on your face. Best wishes guys!

Anyone in or heading to London, Ontario?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by missbon(f): 2:45pm On Jul 12, 2014
If u say ur employed then you have to submit ur own soa and pay slips but if ur not then no need, just ur sponsors soa will do coupled with his source of income docx
awe2015: I mean in the case were I do not have 1naira in my account... Will my sponsors SOA take care of that? So since I do not have any $$ in my account, should I still submit it? Just asking... Cos I am thinking of either adding some cash to it or leaving it flat as it is...

All u can do is relax and remain hopeful. Every application is different and have different processing times. U will hear from them soon
LyfeJennings: Hello everyone.
It's been exactly 5weeks yesterday I reapplied for my visa and I'm yet to get any response. Please, what do U suggest I do? Thanks
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by missbon(f): 12:40pm On Jul 12, 2014
I don't see the need why u wanna stay back in Nigeria, you can even get great job here after the pgd in GIS, from there u cn get ur permanent residency and end up doing the masters at a more cheaper cost. This is just a suggestion tho, do wat works for you best
slimmsyyetty: .

@misbon: thank you for your reply. Are Ɣ☺ΰ now suggesting I should apply for GIS straight away in Canada and bother not doing a PGD firstly in Nigeria before applying for masters.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by missbon(f): 3:02am On Jul 12, 2014
it may be difficult for you to get masters...why not go for courses related to ur first degree, it must not be exactly what you are looking for tho.
maybe you should consider geographic informations systems, its related to your course and lucrative..some colleges have a co-op option for it which means you can gain some work experience from it..afterwards, you can apply for the masters in future if you wish
check out the colleges below
http://flemingcollege.ca/programs/post-graduate-programs https://www.fanshawec.ca/programs-courses/full-time-programs/gis1-intro http://www3.algonquincollege.com/sat/program/geographic-information-systems/#feesexpenses
slimmsyyetty: Hi everyone. Am a first timer on this trend. I wasn't offered admission for masters program. I had 2.2 in my first degree (neither weak nor strong). Please what should I do to strengthen my graduate admission towards my next application. I would like to have my master in geology/geophysics (its related 2my 1st degree), and I cant find schools in Canada that offers postgraduate diploma (PGD) in either of geology/geophysics. Alternatively, what if I endured to have a PGD here in Nigeria before applying for my masters in Canada, would that boost my chances of being given admission for masters? I will appreciate your response. Thanks.

Finestlex: Happy weekend everyone... especially to miss bon
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by missbon(f): 8:19pm On Jul 11, 2014
Okay pls choose ur words carefully next time.
Showing that u have past employment may actually hurt ur application.what can help u is if you show that someone is willing to employ u on return.this someone is best when it's ur sponsor.not just a stranger or someone dat has no connection with you. If ur sponsor can't do dis den a close relative is better. Pls note that it has to be a registered company. And it should be written on a letterhead paper with correct contact and signatures. Also you must be ready to write a convincing statement of purpose. Try to show it to peeps here before submitting.
vanrichie4u: Pardon my use of bad language..I love canada too. Pls advice me if u can on my issue. Thanks
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by missbon(f): 7:52pm On Jul 11, 2014
Bloody Canadians? I guess am not the right person to answer this questions since I like Canadians..
All the best
vanrichie4u: HOUSE WHAT ADVICE DO U RECOmmend!?
You no how the story goes here in 9ja..I've been in the unemployed status for about a year now, a family friend is willing to grant me an employment letter from his company to back me up that I worked with him. I want to state it on my cv I stopped working 6 months ago so that these bloody canadians won't ask for my own bankstatement or Payslips since I have stopped working with them ( my folks are my sponsors). I would be glad if I get response from u chaps.thanks

Try to get a co-sponsor and pls make sure the bank statements u r using are very credible cos thats what ur first refusal is emphasizing on.also try to send ur sop to peeps to help u check before submitting.
All the best
Oyetezee: Hi guys,

I applied ealier in the year and it was refused. I uplaoded the following documents.

1. A Letter of Acceptance/Admission by the school
2. Police Certificate
3. My statement of account for 4months with N3m balance . Openining balance was about N600k(though the inflow came in bulk payments over 2 months).
4. 3 mths payslip with net salary of 300k
5. Employment letter and ID card
7. Letter from employer stating no objection to the college granting me admission.
8. Email from the school confirming receipt of $13,000.00 (The chumps kept on promising to send the receipt of payment for over two weeks, i had to Submit without it)
9. A valid international passport with 2 utilised U.K visas
10. Marriage certificate
11. Wifes employment letter, ID card and payslip of about 300k monthly
12 Tax clearance I.D card
13. Letter from a friend in Canada confirming receipt of payment of 2 months accomodation, with a Landlord tenancy agreement.

Reason for refusal.
. Insufucient financial resources to pay tuition fees
. Insufficient financial resources to pay living expenses for myslef and any other person accompanying me , without working in Canada(note i have no one accompanying me)
. Employment status
. Intention for visit to Canada

I intend to re-apply in October with the following

1. A Letter of Acceptance/Admission by the school
2. Police Certificate (the same one i used earlier)
3. 3mths payslip with net salary of 300k
4. Employment letter and ID card
5.Letter from employer stating no objection to the college granting me admission.
6. Email from the school confirming receipt of $13,000.00 (The chumps kept on promising to send the receipt of payment for over two weeks, i had to submit without it)
7. A valid international passport with 2 utilised u.k visas
8. Marriage certificate
9 Tax clearance ID card
10. Letter from employer stating i will be on study leave for the period
11. New admission letter from the school for the next semester and receipt of payment of tuition fee that was finally received from the chumps. (i deffered the admission)
12. New statemement of account with opening balance of 3.7mm and hopefully closing with 5.5mm
13. Document showing Deed of Assingment of my landed property
14. I intended to remove this document "Wifes employment letter, ID card and payslip of about 300k monthly"
15. Statement of purpose
16. I have an option on including a co-sponsor from a brother who is self employed don't know what the turnover in the account at teh time would be. May be from 2mm -8mm, though available balance as at the time of my application may not be much.

I really do not want to pay accomomdation fees

I would appreciate advice
