hello guru's in the house. I'm new here and would love to ask a very important question.
please what's the chances of a 45yrs old woman conceiving via IVF and whats the advice anyone can give as regards to my question?

expecting a swift response Asap. thanks all.
Yes you can achieve conception by IVF especially if you take the supplements usually recommended by IVF centers for up to 6 months. However you can conceive naturally while preparing for IVF. But before you make any further commitments, you need to arm youself with the vital facts in this link : https://www.nairaland.com/5280186/considering-ivf-fibroid-surgery-read#79960125

toyeoye:
Hello all, I just stumbled upon this thread today and I can relate. Mixed feelings but ultimately, one of great interest.

I've seen a lot of similar threads and I've moved on without commenting but this time, I feel the need to say something.

Thanks to the author of this thread for her resolve. May God continue to empower you.

I'm SS. 35yrs, married and I can say I got a good job! I have been blessed. Not immune to crisis but I've learnt that malaria is my worst enemy.

I've had attacks that kept me hospitalised for weeks when I was younger and still fall sick from time to time but much better now.

At a time in my life, I had friends who passed on due to the disorder and I started living a reckless life cos I thought I will drop anyday. Smoking and drinking and living like a "normal" guy and this nonchalant attitude followed me till I was fully grown. I caused my mum especially a lot of pain but inside me I resented my parents for giving birth to me. I mean how can a nurse open her eyes and make such a mistake??

That seems like ages ago and I've made amends for my foolish ways but I think for me, the lesson is that my mind played a trick on my physical being by helping me forget how bad my situation really is. Maybe I'm just one of the "lucky ones" but ultimately it is God all the way.

I've had fracture on my femur and almost had my leg chopped off if not for God's intervention. I've had issues urinating and had a catheter inserted in me until that passed too. Ive had a nurse inject my nerve and cos of that, I walk like a frog like my wife once teased while we we're dating (I lied until things got serious between us and I had to tell her) I still have part of my spine protuding out like a dinosaur and there was a time I had braces from my neck to lower back to correct this. I've also got the hip thing going on and I'm limited to how I can move, it feels like my hips can just shift out of place if I don't watch my step but I'm here, alive and grateful.

I've lied all my life just to be accepted or to avoid pity. It's crazy what we go through. We are strong, mentally.

Please, keep up the good work and if we by chance come together one day to join forces, kindly send me an invite. I will be glad.

Till then, may we all live a fulfilled life, amen.

Stay strong.
It's great having you share your experience. You have accomplished a lot also. Looking forward to having you on the WhatsApp group for a faster turn over of information shared. May God keep and bless you.

HealthRe: GTB 8th Annual Autism Conference Raises Hope For Children With Autism by MissionRestore: 12:12am On Jul 09, 2019
femioyewale:
Interestingly, the 8th edition of the GT Bank Annual autism Conference which kicked off yesterday ended well with expectations of stakeholders met when they converge at Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos on Wednesday, July 18th,2018.

Several health care and medical experts, care givers, teachers, proprietors of special need centers, parents and even children living with autism exchanged information about what autism is all about and the role of the family and the community.

Joyce Onafowokan, an Early Intervention Expert and a Special Adviser to Governor Ambode on Social Development, who in her address reiterated the fact the Lagos State was the only state out of the 36 states of Nigeria, taking the issue of Autism serious. The state government, Onafowokan said, is already blazing the trail in the aspect by providing employment opportunities for them.

While outlining how the collaboration should be done; through education, autism conferences and consultation, autism outreach, research among educators and health practitioners, researches conducted in hospitals, she didn’t fail to mention that collaborations would come with challenges as with everything one sets out to achieve. However, with the vision at the back of everyone’s mind, a greater good will be achieved.

In her presentation, United States based Camille Proctor, an executive director of The Color of Autism Foundation, With an autistic child who was diagnosed with autism at 18 months, she was forced to learn about self advocacy as a way to create awareness about the disorder starting with her immediate environment. She encouraged parents to be their special needs children’s best advocates as well as seeking out ways to make a life a more pleasurable experience for their children.

Most often, many mistake autism for mental illness with even medical practitioners, in some cases giving wrong assessment and diagnosis.

In all, the GT Bank sponsored 8th Annual Autism Conference was as enlightening as it was emotional. It is instructive to note that Annual Autism Programme was born out of the Orange Ribbon Initiative, an initiative created by GT bank in 2009 to support people with developmental disabilities and special needs. Autism was chosen to be their area of focus due to their concern for people who suffer stigmatization and get very little support in the society.
@OP this is a laudable CSR.

HealthDo You Know Someone With Autism Or Down Syndrome? LET'S HELP by MissionRestore(op):
Autism or autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) is a brain disorder, present from birth, but cause is unknown. In the USA, autistic spectrum disorder is described as pervasive developmental disorder (PDD). The pattern and severity of symptoms can vary from child to child. Autism can occur alone or in association with other developmental disorders like mental retardation, learning disabilities, epilepsy and Down syndrome.

Down syndrome or trisomy 21 is a genetic condition in which a person inherits an extra copy of one chromosom, thus Children with Down syndrome have all or part of a third copy of chromosome 21, and this additional genetic material results in characteristic physical and intellectual features. It is the most common chromosome abnormality in humans and the commonest inherited cause of learning disability.

Diagnosis:
The diagnosis of autism or autistic spectrum disorder is usually made by a psychiatrist. There is no objective test for autism such as a blood test or a brain scan at the present time. The diagnosis is made on the basis of having a particular pattern of development and behaviors, described below.
1. Social impairments
2. Communication impairments
3. Repetitive stereotyped behaviors.
However, many of the individual behaviors are not indicative of autism on their own. Many of these behaviors are seen in typically developing children at early stages in their development and may be seen for longer in children who are delayed in their progress. Children with delays in communication, children with hearing and vision impairments, children with brain damage and children with severe learning difficulties are all more likely to show behaviors that are on the autistic symptom list. This means that there is plenty of room for different opinions and for mistakes in diagnosis.

Symptoms and Differences:
Down’s syndrome affects all ethnic groups equally, and affects more boys than girls. A child with Down’s Syndrome often looks different from other children, with a flat facial profile and eyes that slant upwards, smaller ears, a flat back of the head and protruding tongue with broad hands with a single crease across the palm. Also almost half of children affected have heart defects.
Whereas children with autism have various impairments ranging from social to communication to learning. Children with autism have difficulty in learning language and social skills and in relating to people, and maybe aggressive or show self-injurious behaviour. Usually language is slow to develop, and may include peculiar speech patterns or the use of words without attachment to their normal meaning.
Readers may be interested to know that in many research studies, the performance of children with Down syndrome and children with autism, matched for IQ and age, has been compared. The majority of children with Down syndrome do not show the deficits in social and emotional understanding that are shown by the autistic children.
It is important to note at this point that some persons are diagnosed with only Autism or only Down syndrome. While some are diagnosed with both down syndrome and autism. I believe with the above explanations, going forward you should be able to isolate the three groups ASD, DS or ASD/DS.

Treatment and Management:
Like in autism, it is largely believed there is no cure for Down syndrome. But this long held belief is changing. While changes to some of the physical features of DS can be achieved with reconstructive surgery, it is equally possible to manage the symptoms of Autism to a point where they are no longer noticeable or manifested. Autism remission is possible using a three- stage technique. Stage one involves detailed profiling, stage two entails identifying nutrient deficiency and allergy, while stage three, though optional, is recovery classes.

Hi my sabi mama's I saw a gynaecologist over the weekend based on the tubal blockage thing, he said the X-ray looks somehow, he suggested laparoscropy which is 80k and I can't afford such at the moment, can
You please suggest where I can have it done for a lesser amount, maybe like a general hospital, I stay around alakuko in Lagos, thanks
You can visit another gynea with your xray and get a second opinion. If the laparoscopy is not in the same hospital where it was recommended, then go to the place where they do the laparoscopy and request to see their gynecologist. Show him or her your xray.

2. Has anyone used DIM for fibroids. Is it advisable to use DIM when TTC (because it states that it shouldn't be used when trying to get pregnant on the container by manufacturer but I read on Google that it can be used). Please has anyone used DIM and got pregnant while using it?
.
It is best to go by manufacturer's recommendation.
But there are safe ways to shrink fibroids. You can read more about it here:

HealthConsidering IVF Or Fibroid Surgery? Read This!! by MissionRestore(op):

IVF / IUI
In vitro fertilisation is a process of fertilisation where an egg is combined with sperm outside the body, in vitro. The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman's ovulatory process, removing an ovum or ova from the woman's ovaries and letting sperm fertilise them in a liquid in a laboratory and implanted in your uterus.

You might think that if you're having trouble getting pregnant the logical next step is IVF, when in fact there are a bunch of options in between. "The decision as to whether or not IVF is right for you is based on a thorough diagnostic work-up to determine if it's the best (or only) option for a couple to achieve pregnancy. Your doc will start by collecting a medical and sexual history from both you and your husband, Bestie (sperm source) ., with initial tests that usually include a semen analysis, a tubal evaluation, and ovarian reserve testing. Then, based on what's contributing to your infertility, how long it's been going on, and your age, your doc will counsel you about your options—which can also include oral and injectable fertility meds, surgery, intra-uterine insemination (where the sperm is placed directly in your uterus), or IVF. In many cases these treatments are combined.

DURATION:
For the woman, however, the IVF process actually starts weeks earlier. IVF is not a single treatment but a series of procedures. An average IVF cycle takes about 6 to 8 weeks from consultation to transfer, but depending on the specific circumstances of each the path is similar for every patient.
The process involves taking daily injections (over a period of nine to 11 days) to help your body produce multiple eggs, along with periodically monitoring your progress by ultrasound and estrogen levels.
On average, IVF treatments cost about $13,000-15,000 per cycle.

SUCCESS RATE:

In fact, the live birth IVF success rate for women under 35 who start an IVF cycle is 40 percent. However, women over age 42 have a 4 percent success rate. More IVF success factors to think about include whether or not you were pregnant previously and if it was with the same partner.

Women with the best chances of IVF success have rates of 40 percent or more per cycle, while the majority of women have per-cycle success rates of 20 to 35 percent, according to RESOLVE, the National Infertility Association. There is no guarantee that your first cycle will work.

Most women typically see success rates of 20-35% per cycle, but the likelihood of getting pregnant decreases with each successive round, while the cost increases. The cumulative effect of three full cycles of IVF increases the chances of a successful pregnancy to 45-53%.

One of the most common reasons as to why an IVF cycle fails is due to the quality of the embryo. Many embryos are unable to implant after transfer to the uterus as they are defective. Embryos that look healthy in a lab may have defects that cause them to die rather than grow.
Pregnancy Symptom: Sensitive breasts, nausea, fatigue, cramping, light spotting—could these be signs the cycle has been successful? Here's the truth: all those symptoms can and do occur even if you're not pregnant. In fact, even if you have no pregnancy symptoms, you may be pregnant. It's really impossible to tell

But there are things you can do to improve success rate. Things like quitting smoking, reducing your alcohol intake, eating a balanced diet and being in a healthy weight range can help. Thanks to IVF, Romanian woman Adriana Iliescu gave birth aged 66 in 2005. Wow!

RISKS:
Additional risks of IVF include the following: Egg retrieval carries risks of bleeding, infection, and damage to the bowel or bladder. The chance of a multiples pregnancy is increased with the use of fertility treatment.
The experts argue that extended IVF use increases the risk of harm to both the mother and offspring. perinatal complications such as gestational diabetes, fetal growth restriction, and preeclampsia as well as premature birth.
Death: A British woman who had undergone a standard IVF procedure at the Leicester Royal Infirmary has died unexpectedly while undergoing another medical procedure. ... Another possible cause of the woman's death could be a rare condition known as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

PRE-IVF RECOMMENDATIONS:
i) Plenty of rest. Sleep at least 8 hours for both couples. This is to reduce stress. If possible include one hour siesta.
ii) Exercise 10 -15 mins daily. Increase if your BMI is out of range.
iii) Drink plenty water. Maximum of 4 sachets, morning, 4-Afternoon, and 2-Evening. If you can drink more, better.
iv) Test and treat any infections eg gonorrhea, staphylococcus
v) Quit smoking
vi) Maintain healthy weight. BMI 19 to 35
vii)Avoid exposure to environmental toxins or detoxify with applicable supplement. See Fibroid section below for details.
NOTE that items i-vii above applys to both couples.
viii) Use supplements to acheive balanced diet. Chelated Cal-Mag with vitamin D (woman), Chelated Zinc (man) and vitamin E (both)
ix) See foods to Avoid and those to Eat in Fibroids section below (woman)
x) Optimize sperm health. Wear boxers instead of briefs.

SOLUTION:
Would you want to try IVF with all the facts above and at a cost of over N6 million or won't you rather embrace a natural conception method with over 60% success rate. And the cost? Less than one-tenth of IVF. All that will be required is that you adhere strictly to the same lifestyle changes suggested by IVF gynecologist and organic supplements I recommend. If interested, reach me on 0.9.0.2.3.0.7.3.3.6.7 or jomailmenow@gmail.com

FIBROID :

While fibroids aren’t cancerous or life-threatening, they can sometimes cause health problems.

Fibroids range in size to as small as a seed to larger than a grapefruit. You can have one fibroid or multiple growths.

You may not have any symptoms at all. Most women don’t know they have this condition.

Signs and symptoms depend on the size, location, and number of fibroids. You may experience:
periods that last longer than a week
heavy menstrual bleeding
spotting or bleeding between periods
pelvic pressure or pain
backache or leg pain
frequent urination
difficulty emptying your bladder
constipation
difficulty getting pregnant
You may be at higher risk for fibroids if you:
are between the ages of 30 and 50
are overweight or obese
are a woman of African-decent, as fibroids are two to three times more common in African-decent women
have family history of fibroids
began menstruation before the age of 10
use certain kinds of birth control
have a poor diet
consume alcohol

Surgical treatments for fibroids include hysterectomy and myomectomy. Hysterectomy is usually recommended when the fibroids are causing symptoms, when they have grown rapidly or when the fibroids are large (as large as a grapefruit). Myomectomy is an operation to remove a fibroid tumor without taking out the uterus. According to a report published in the New England Journal of Medicine. (2) Every year more than 200,000 hysterectomies are performed due to severe uterine fibroids.

Some risk factors for fibroids are out of your control, but there are many you can manage. These includes things like eating higher-quality meat (especially beef), adding more detoxifying foods such as leafy green vegetables into your diet, and drinking less alcohol. There are also a lot of steps you can take to help balance your hormones naturally, which is a key part of prevention and natural fibroid treatment.

There are 4 essential stages to treating fibroids naturally:
Reduce your estrogen overload
Improve your lymphatic drainage
Reduce your gut inflammation
Improve your liver function

Natural Treatments for Fibroids

i. Avoid foods that make fibroids worse. Like nonorganic meat, processed meats (hamburger, sausages), refined sugar, refined carbohydrates (white bread, noodles, flour products), Alcohol and Caffeine.

ii. Eat foods that help relieve fibroids. Organic food ( agric food grown without pesticides), green vegetables rich in vitamin K that helps blood clothing and menstral flow, Cruciferous vegetables ( cabbage, broccoli) help your liver function, Beta carotene foods like Spinach, High Iron foods like legumes and whole grains (millet, brown rice, oats).

iii. Try supplements that aid in fibroid reduction. Because it is very difficult if not impossible to eat balanced diet as recommended by our doctor, nutritionist and WHO it becomes mandatory that we take supplements to make up. Omega-3 Salmon oil, B-complex, Progesterone cream ( must be used with care as it could cause miscarriage) and milk thistle.

iv. Turn to essential oils. Frankinsense or Thyme are best essential oils.

v. Drink herbal teas. Warm herbal tea taken after meals is better than cold water.

vi. Use castor oil packs. Castor oil packs are made by soaking a piece of flannel in castor oil and placing it on the skin. The flannel is covered with a sheet of plastic, and then a hot water bottle is placed over the plastic to heat the pack. A castor oil pack is typically placed on the following body regions: The right side of the abdomen. Castor oil is derived from the castor bean (Ricinus communis) seed.

vii. Avoid exposure to environmental toxins. Or again detoxify regularly with the appropriate supplement. Food preservatives, Insecticides, Roasted food, Smoke, and many more are sources of Toxins which prove that it is practically impossible for us to naturally stay free of toxins.

viii. Exercise. According to one study, the more a woman exercises, the less likely she is to get uterine fibroids.

SOLUTION:
So have you tried all of the above suggested lifestyle change, exercise and supplement with solution. If not then don't risk your life with a surgery that might not be successful. For private enquiry, reach me on 0.9.0.2.3.0.7.3.3.6.7 or jomailmenow@gmail.com

And the aleovera honey thingy can totally not work. Mehn that shit is bitter. I shu not lie ehn,, I can't even think of trying it wink

Thanks for the hints Sir /MA, they're highly valued..
Nice to hear your amount of sleep has improved.
Aloevera plus from Neolife taste like champagne. And I even suggested taking with honey just in case you have sweet taste buds.
Anyways "Health is Wealth " so it is expected that we make some sacrifices to enjoy long-term well being.
Eating by 7pm is still fine, to shutdown 9/10pm till 5am. Also add some nap during break/launch time. This with daily consumption of Tre-en-en is a massive immune booster.
