Sorry I didn't reply in time. I was denied the Visa. Their reason is I didn't have enough money. Apparently you need to have all your tuition money for the 4 years of study including left over for housing, feeding and so on. All I had in my bank account was tuition for 3 years although I had paid my tuition for one semester. I wish everyone luck. It is truly a tedious process with the Spanish Embassy

With respect to the accommodation, I booked down a room and they issued me a certificate that said I had accommodation for a certain period. I did this because my school ain't got no accommodation.

You can say that again. Getting a spanish visa is like hell on earth. Getting an American visa is way easier in so many ways. Imagine school starts on Monday and there is still no word from the embassy. Just hope it works out because I have been through a lot trying to apply for this spanish visa.

@1andonly 1. how long did it take to process your visa? I submitted my visa application on the 24th of April. I still haven't heard from the embassy and school starts this Monday 25th May.
2. Did you get your visa on Thursday(collection day) or a random day?
3. Did they request for information/receipts on accommodation apart from the school stating they would provide housing?

flynbird: Its been 2days since I paid my Sevis fee and still yet no update on www.fmjfee.com. I don't have any other proof to show I paid the fee and my interview is in 2days time. I emailed DHS for a change on Info, and they said they still don't have record of payment under my SEVIS ID and that I should allow time for the payment to be received and verified..... What should I do if there's still no update a day before my interview? If I don't attend the interview without canceling my appointment would I still be able to schedule another interview date without paying another N26,400? Pls I need advise.

Use DHL instead. Pay for the pick-up service. It's about 17k and above depending on the location. They go and pick it up from your school and deliver it to you at your address in 3days at most a week. Choose a mailing address that is easy to find!

In America it's called quick collect not quick pay. Not all western union outlets have quick collect. So she has to go online to the western union website and look for the nearest quick collect close to her or she can Google it. The quick collect form would look like the picture above or slightly different. There is no special sevis type of form. If you can give me her location I can find the nearest quick collect outlets close to her.

@ Poster, you can simply tell the VO that over your frequent travels, you have been awed by the education system and following the continuous strikes of ASUU and the fact that you have already spent some time after high school and graduation date is not sure, you choose to go study in a more organised setting where quality is not sacrificed on the altars of personal gains of various staff organisations. I will suggest you apply to a top notch school though.

MsSantaClaus: Sometimes, tough criticism is required! The Visa Officers have no time for sentiment. If you come here for advice, you have to be ready for the truth so as not to be misguided . If I was a visa officer I would honestly wonder if this person is a serious student at all or just wants to go to the US and continue moving from school to school and maybe become an easily influenced person (think of the Boston Bomber ) the devil has work for idle minds! Having traveled as a child is not the same as being an adult, in the first instance your parents are responsible for you and your actions, as an undergraduate student you are more or less responsible for your own actions. This is what the VO will consider. Your reasons for moving from two schools will not be private when it comes to the interview and if the reasons are not good enough to satisfy the VO, then, I don't need to say more..

OjaP: Your answer: Count the number of times ASUU had gone on strike between 2008 to 2005 + UNILAG internal strikes. Then, tell the V.O you don't want to spend 10yrs in college hence your reason for applying to US schools where they have a stable system. Let him know that ASUU is presently on strike as you are talking. Pray the strike will still be on whenever you're going for your interview. Hey fellow Nairalanders...I have been following this thread silently for a long time now. Well my interview date is next month and I need some advice.
I'm an undergraduate. I have been to two universities(American University of Nigeria and Unilag). I left the first university due to personal reasons and I attended unilag to keep my self busy until I was ready to take a bold step to study abroad. The question is do I stand a chance of getting a visa after attending both universities? I can't lie about not attending the universities because they have my records in their system. I have a current visitors visa. I have been travelling since my childhood. What is the favourable excuse I could use for leaving both universities to study in the US? I finished secondary school since 2008. Please help me
