After spending a week in New York, Pam got a parcel,it was surprising because she does not even have a single friend in New York,who knew her so well to have sent a parcel.

She held the parcel in her hands and was still wondering who it could be when her aunt came out, it was only the two of them in the house because aunt toyin was not married yet,she was there for her master's program.

'hey,lemme see that'

It was a box containing flowers,a pink sweater,wristwatch and a pair of earrings,she needed no prophet to tell her how expensive they would be.

She told her aunt she knows no one there but can't just place how the sender got her address and name but the sender's name was missing, her aunt just smiled and advised her to enjoy life to the fullest without being sexually polluted,that was her family,they never beat around the bush,anytime there's the issue of an opposite sex,they advise against sex straight.

Pamela,keep it cool. She told herself.

Two days later,another parcel and a letter was dropped for her by someone named Bode,she wasnt sure of where she had heard the name before,in the letter he asked her out on a date in the evening of the same day and she rushed to tell her sister who told her there was no problem. she was happy and couldnt wait to meet the Bode guy.

When it was evening, Pamela wore the pink sweater and wristwatch sent to her by her 'date' and awaited his call,he came to time,7.00pm as stated in the letter and it was when he got to the doorstep that she remembered were and how they met.

Bode took her to a classic restaurant and did proper introductions,she asked how he got to know where she was staying and she was awed when he told her he told the driver to follow she and her aunt home that day she arrived.

According to him,he was a 300 level student in the university of illorin,kwara state,studying mechanical engineering,the only son of late chief Oriolowo,a multi-millionaire as pamela knew the late man to be.

she also talked about herself and that she also chose uniilorin in jamb and hopes to get admitted there.

After much ado,they exchanged phone numbers,he dropped her off but not without gently kissing her hands,she felt on top of the world and he left her feeling so when he drove off.

Apart from being her first date,it was a wonderful experience.

Chapter 2

Pamela couldn't contain her joy, though her first time travelling alone, she knew she was in for the best two weeks of her life, she couldn't wait to see aunt Toyin and to have fun overthere.

Once in the air,she brought out her novel and started reading, oblivious of who was beside her.

Sitting beside her was Bode Oriolowo, a tall, dark and handsome young man,he had been looking at pamela since they entered the plane.

After some minutes,he greeted her,she looked up to behold the sexy figure,her heart did a somersault but she maintained her composure and replied his greeting, he asked her what her mission was in new york which she told him,he also told her he was going to oversee some things in his father's company there.

They conversed throughout the trip and Pamela forgot her novel but soon as they alighted,the young man's communication skill was impeccable.
Pamela soon forgot about him when she ran into the waiting hands of her sister.
Bode on the other hand swore to himself never to let the angel called pamela walk out of his sight,ever.

The Coker's were sitting in the shed situated behind their mansion,the family meeting would have been complete if not for David who was in school.
David......
That reminded Pamela of how the relationship between Sherry,her good friend and secondary school mate and David started,which dated back to a year previous. sherry had came visiting that saturday evening when she met Pam's elder brother who came home for a short period from school, he was in 200level while they were in SSS 2,and that was it.

She smiled,David according to him found her smart,beautiful,decent and cool,so he asked if they could be friends and she accepted. Pamela called it a 'child-play' kind of relationship because the duo seldom see.

Her father's voice brought her back to reality, he announced to them that Pamela would be going to New York for two weeks to relax with his younger sister over there as a compensation for her hard work and excellent result,Michael too would have loved to go but the father hushed him,he would need to work hard like his sister to earn such a trip.

Precisely one week after the principal came to break the good news,Pamela was home alone as usual when the land phone rang,she picked it up and asked who was on the line.

''.....Pamela Coker'',the caller called with cynism,

'this will be your second time of crossing my path and stepping on my toes in life.'

Pam was awed and was in a fix as to what the caller,a female,meant,
'...the first time you were four years old,i was six,it was the day the president came to the state,i was holding the bouquet of flowers to present to him when you walked in with your father,i could remember him telling somebody some things inaudible and before i knew it i was holding a box of chocolates while you were holding the flowers......Pamela,this is the second time,i've worked so hard to get this scholarship but i ended up with eight distinctions and here you are,taking my position again .....if you don't want to D-I-E,let this be your last time of stepping on my toes.good day'.

Pamela was at the point of tears,in her whole sixteen years of existence,no-one has ever addressed her with so much hatred ot to talk of crowning it with the threat of death.death!
She silently promised herself never to cross the caller's path again in life,for good or bad.

Chapter 1
It was a wonderful morning in Lagos,Pamela Coker woke up happy and bright as ever.she was the second ward of Dr. And mrs Coker.
Her elder brother David,nicknamed 'pastor' was in his third year in the university of Ibadan,while her younger brother, Michael was in Junior secondary school three(Jss 3).

Pamela just finished her SSCE some months back and she was home patiently awaiting her result.being a bright student,she was assured she would come out in flying colours,she loved accounting as a course and she was going to study it in the university.
After having her bath that cool morning,she settled down in the sittee to watch tv when she heard a knock on the door,she was startled,no one should come callingbecause her friends knew better than to come visiting early in the morning on a tuesday.
She eventually opened the door and was surprised to see her school principal,Mrs Lamuye at the door,Pamela quickly went on her knees and greeted the woma who replied with enthusiasm,which was quite unlike her.
Mrs Lamuye asked of her parents and she told her they were off to work.she came with good news and on telling Pamela she went wild with joy.
The state government is giving her scholarship throughout her university education because she got nine distinctions in her WAEC examination.
She thanked the principal and when she's gone,she called her father's place of work,a private hospital to tell him the good news but she was told that he was busy,she hung up disappointed,she wanted her daddy to be the first to hear about the news.

Some minutes later,her father called back and she narrated the whole issues to him.within thirty minutes he was home with his angel,they hugged joyfully before heading to Mrs coker's shop to inform her.later in the evening the whole family went out on a date in celebration of Pam's success.

On the road,he changed his mind and went to his grandmother's house,he narrated how he met the woman in a mini-mart,smiled to greet her and how she fainted before he could say a word, on mentioning the name of the woman,which he saw in her address book,his grandmother stood up shocked,
'did you say pamela coker??'
Femi nodded,
'you know her?'
His grandmother slowly took her seat and turned white.
'please when she's fine,tell her Mrs Oriolowo wants to see her'.

Preface
The young man entered the ward the fourth time to check on the woman,luckily enough she was awake,he would be able to converse with her.
Imeediately he stepped into the ward,the woman raised her head a little,and stamerred,
'b..b..bode...',before losing consciousness again.
God!what was this?
He rushed to her with two other nurses and treated her.
He silently left the room before she would see him and faint again.
He got his car keys and headed home lost in thoughts,
was he evil?how can a woman faint just because she saw him?...
his mind started raising a million and one questions but there wasn't a single answer.

So do WE mind if i continue??

Some minutes later,kike's hubby came in reeking of alcohol and barely able to stand straight,he made for where his wife sat and hugged her,she returned the hug,now standing of cause,with a broad smile,

'welcome sweetie..'

'aunty good evening',he greeted itunu and made for his room without waiting for her reply.

'my God!,kikelomo,is this the nonsense you condone? what is this i'm seeing? ur husband came in drunk and you can't talk some sense into him? You don't even knw if he's coming from another woman's arms',itunu shouted, a very angry look on her face.

'stop already sister mi,tosin is not drunk,he just hung out with his friends for a little while and i'm sure he's not cheating on me,c'mon sis'.kike finished with a smile,'I TRUST HIM.'

'i'm not talking about trust here silly,its so clear....'itunu was caught between her words as her kike shouted at her,
'oh!!please,you cant teach me how to run my home okay?'

itunu was awed,she slowly stood up and headed to her room angrily.

Chapter 5
Itunu got home at 10:30pm, the kids have gone to bed.only God knows since when she's seen them last,she has been so busy with her work and Mr Tope,her boss,has been on her neck,he seems such a nice man to her and they're getting kindof close,against Feyi's shouts.

she didn't know what was wrong with the lady,she just doesn't like seeing the man,God knows what he did to her.
she dismissed the thought on opening the front door and seeing her sister in the sitting room.

'sister mi welcome',kike greeted her sister who headed for the dinning arena to attack her meal,with kike tailing her.

kike has been so nice to her and her kids,she smiled at the thought,what a lovely sister.

'hmm,what a wonderful meal,oshey lv',itunu said with food in her mouth.they both laughed at this.

'look,kike,that's not what i'm here for,how can you tell me to beg Olamide,despite all he did?..was he also considerate? he changed negatively to me and i can't just sit and be his fool',
Itunu scratched her head, 'i dnt knw if you'll mind,can i stay with you for a while?, at least till i'm able to settle things'

'sister mi,you know you are always welcome at my place,but i still insist......'

'oh!thanks sweetie',itunu hugged her younger sister cutting her off whatever it was she wanted 2 say next.

Before leaving the office, itunu dialled kikelomo's number.kike has been the closest she had to a mother,though a junior to her but the love was much between them,they discussed issues and advice eachother like real blood sisters would.

'hi sister mi', kike said all smiles at the other end of the receiver.

'are you @ the shop? there are things i want to discuss with you'

'yes i am sister'.

Itunu was with kike about half an hour later at her shop, a very big shop where she sells clothing articles.

Itunu told kike everything that has been happening since her husband left home and her inability to raise the house rent.

'but sister mi,you shouldn't have let things go so wrong,ehn...and now that everything's like this,why don't you call him and apologize?...'kike said persuading her sister.

later that afternoon itunu confided in her friend about the problems she's got,the house rent expired a week ago and the landlord came to remind her to pay up,but she doesn't have the money,she just settled wura's university tuition as she just gained admission into unilag.

'well sweetie,you see wah'm saying? it is better you settle the rift between yourself and your husband.....u'r @ the receiving end',feyi adviced.

'hmm,so this is his way of purnishing me right? does he want me to belief he doesn't know the house rent has expired? With three kids at my disposal...,'she was near tears now..

'he thinks i'l come crawling 'cause of that? never! i'l show him i'm a strong woman', itunu said,meaning every word she said.

'strong or not,remember your kids in every decision you make,a word is enough for the wise'.

Chapter 4

'Good day ladies,'
itunu and feyi looked up to see their boss,Mr Tope.
A smile lit up Itunu's face instantly but feyi's face said otherwise.
'morning sir'.they echooed.
He walked briskly to itunu's desk,
'you look so good today',he said giving her a warm smile,
'thank you sir',she replied shyly and Mr Tope,nodding and smlling moved to his office.He was the boss.

when he was gone,feyi stole a glance at her friend and shook her head.

I'l b dropping something dis evenyn.

'now you see what you've caused yourself...you don't think, i tell you, he's gone now,left you with three kids',
Itunu looked at her friend straight in the eye,
'gone??'
She smiled, 'olamide can't just go like that now,he's definately coming back home soon'.
She continued,'moreover i did nothing wrong,or shouldn't i tell my hubby the truth again?', 'I can't just let him live like that any longer,he can corrupt the children with his ways and i do not want that'.
Feyisara laughed and that made Itunu wonder if her friend was allright,what could be funny in all the mess she was in.
'my dear,i can't lie to you,you overdid it,even when you are fighting for the right cause you still have to do it in the proper manner.you threw a plate at his head and have you bothered to say sorry?,no. instead of that you went straight ahead to accuse him of drinking and coming home late again,that shouldn't be.'
feyi continued advising itunu like a mother would,using the right parables where necesary.

Feyi knew deep within herself that she was wrong by over reacting and being aggresive,but she's not going to apologise,Olamide too should see things from her own point of view and come back home.

'thanks friend,i'l sort myself out.but so you know,i will not apologize to Mide, if he's in his right senses he'l come back home soon, if not for my sake then for the kids' '. with this itunu stood up to leave the office,it was lunch break anyway.she needed time on her own.

'someone has got to take that step first and i think that should be you,a wise woman builds her home but....',feyi shouted after her friend who didn't bother waiting to hear the rest of what she was saying.

On the way home from school,Wuraola and her friends were discussing random topics when they got to the topic of their valedictory service in two days time.
Her two friends,Tinuke and Tolu were so happy about the whole VS issue.

'uhmm,wednesday will be bam! You guys need to see how much my mum is preparing for the day, she's busy getting the cloth i'l wear, the food she'll serve and all, i'm just so happy'
tolu also didnt keep quiet,they rattled on and on,but wuraola wasn't happy,her mum would never follow her not to talk of her dad that is not at home again.

She exhaled deeply making her friends turn their gaze towards her,'what's the matter wura,you are not even contributing',tinuke asked.

'i would have loved my parents to be there too but their work wont allow them',wuraola said rather dejectedly.

'and mine hasn't jobs?',tinuke asked a rhetorical question with raised eyebrows,'oh please'

'don't get me wrong girl' wura quickly replied her friend before she got all dramatic.

'eyah,my own parents are coming too,even if they work with the president they always find time for me',tolu chipped in.

Now that hit wura,her own parents love their jobs more than anything,so they couldn't possibly leave their job for a mere valedictory service.

She heaved a sigh,her friends turned to look at her but she quickly turned away.

The rest of the journey home was silent.

Chapter 3
Itunu and her kids sat watching a television program when olamide entered the living room.

The time was 9.30pm,he actually should have headed home immediately after leaving the office but he gave it second thoughts.

He was tipsy,having drank so much beer after leaving the office. Because of his worrying state,he thought beer should do him some good.

He's still finding it difficult to understand why his loving and caring wife would just turn around and become the direct opposite coupled with not trusting him again.

The children greeted their dad and returned their gaze to the tv set.Itunu who has been watching her husband since he entered stood up and walked briskly to where her husband stood,bandage on head.

'geez! Olamide you drank again! When will you get a life?when?! only foolish irresponsible fathers behave like this,what example do you want to lay down for the children?.....',she rattled on and on.

Olamide was so surprised,he was expecting his wife to apologize as regards the wound on his head,so the fact that she picked up another fight with him was something he couldn't comprehend.

Here she was shouting at him for getting drunk when she caused it.

Olamide stormed into the house leaving the shouting woman behind,he packed his clothes and important documents into a bag n wheeled the bag behind him as he left his room,heading outside.he has had enough.

He stopped at the sittng room to look at his three wards,oh! How he loved them,but he hasn't a choice here,he'l rather leave the house than wait for itunu to kill him.

He left the house.

Itunu was stunned,how dare olamide leave the house.

The whole house turned gravely silent and sour.

''WTF!.....wat happened to your head?'', dare asked surprised, Mide wasn't the kind of man to get in a fight so what could have been the cause of the wound on his head.

''it's nt deliberate'',olamide muterred already getting embarassed.he explained the whole scenerio to his friend,

''and you said it's not deliberate?that means the plates grew wings and flew to your head then'',dare replied angrily, ''listen,your wife is becoming something else with her temper and meaningless jealousy o,what if the plate had hit your eyes? My God,if i were you,i would have taught her a lesson or two''

Mide was only half listening,but he heard dare say '..would taught her a lesson',he loves his wife too much,he can never beat her,no,that's out of it.

His house is now one hell of a place,even to go home at night scares him.

Itunu has really overdone it this time,does she want to kill him?.
That kind of woman is dangerous to live with,he concluded.

''arh itunu! That was too much,you over-reacted,you should have listened to his explanations'',Feyi said,getting so dramatic.
Itunu barked back at her friend,''what does he have to say? He doesn't have any thing to saay..''
she wasn't in the least remorseful,infact her husband got what he wanted,serves him right.
''you should apologize to him,please'',feyi pressed further.
Itunu shouted at her friend,''ani lailai,i can't beg him o,not on my life''.
Feyisayo was stunned,she just kept her gaze locked on her friend.

'mide successfully tiptoed into the house,his wife and kids must be fast aselep by now,thank God there will be no shouts tonight.he was not aware time had gone so much before leaving his friends,those guys.


A glance at the dinning table and he saw his food neatly covered,though not so hungry he decided to have a taste anyway.

As he settled into the chair,his wife emerged from the bedroom,a very angry look on her face.

Mide knew another battle is set for the night,he was scared at the tigeress standing in his front and he couldnt find his voice. when itunu wouldn't stop looking at him he decided to talk.

''ehm,itunu,sorry i....''

''shut up!!fucking shut up,why did you come home?you know you should have slept in that lady's house..''

Mide was awed,''what lady are you talking about?''

''don't even pretend to me'',she cried,''this is not the olamide i married,see how you'r reeking of alcohol,my own mide never drinks'',she was boiling with anger.

''hey,will you listen to me?!'',she heard her hubby shouting.

she was shaking uncontrollably,who knows whether he was just released by another woman,with that,she grabbed a glass plate on the table and threw it at him.

The plate hit him directly above the left eye,and everything went blank,the spot gushing blood.

''oh my God,oh my God what have i done,i didn't mean to hit you....''she was saying to the unconscious man lying down with blood all over his face.

Chapter 2
Olamide was absorbed in his work or so it appeared,but he was lost in thoughts.
''a relationship without trust is just a waste of time...''
''and effort''mhis friend,dare,completed.he did not even know he said it out.
''you mean you have been watching me since?'',he asked dare,mouth open,''i didn't even know i said that aloud'',he muttered.
''ye-a,i av been,you look so far away and i was thinking of how to come in when i heard you say what you said....now i think i have an idea what your being moody is all about,bt i wont mind you giving me the details''.
Olamide sighed n explained all he has been going through at home,how his wife has been making him go through hell with her constant nagging and accusations.
''look man,that's just women for you,you don't have to look so sad,as long as you trust yourself,dish her mehn!'',dare adviced.
''look at you'',mide thought,how can he just 'dish' his wife,this man here has got no idea how much he loved his wife and how hurt he was 'cause of her actions.
''well,hmm..thanks'','mide said.

Dare cleared his throat aloud,''mide,dyu knw theo' is back from the states?''.
''wow!u dnt mean it..''
''well i do,he came back yesterday and a welcome party is holding for him tonight''.
Theo's back to Niger,wow.they have been friends since childhood.
''oh! I'l call him right away,but i don't think i'm in for the party,wonna get home early tonight...'',mide said looking around for his phone.
''what you actually need now is that kind of outing to help you forget 'nagging itunu' for a while''...dare said n rattled on and on.mide called theo and he changed his mind about not wanting to go for the party,just to see his friend,it's been quite an age.
He'l spend an hour or so then leave early for home.

Feyi looked up to see itunu trying to settle into her seat which is directly opposite her's.''you look sad,your husband again?''.

Itunu heaved a sigh,''don't lemme disturb you with my home issues,it's too early for that won't you say?''

''no,no,no...talk to me,we have all day to work''

''allright,it's olamide again,and i'm getting tired of all what the shit he's trying with me,don't i work too?,he's always complaining of being busy at the office and of traffic hold-up'',she shook her head,''i am very sure 'mide is seeing another woman,men are just animals''.

Feyisayo stood up from her seat,finding her way to her friend's desk,''itunu dear,not all men are animals,why don't you just try to trust him,you've had a great marriage all along,you are a very good woman,so i don't think you husband has any reason to be doing what you think he's doing''.

''but why did he just change all of a sudden?,he doesn't even spend enough time with me anymore,not to talk of the kids.hmmm..feyi,i'm getting fed up''.

''fed up?'',feyi smiled,''you shouldn't even dream of that,try and talk to him okay?,i'm sure things will soon change for the better.....patience my friend,patience.the patient dog eats the fatest bone y'knw?''

Itunu smiled and thanked her friend,though she strongly hoped that her patient dog will find any bone to eat at all.

She resumed her position on the seat,the children have long since gone to bed,except wuraola who slept off on the chair while waiting for he father,she was too fond of him.
At exactly 11.55pm,itunu who had dozed off on the chair woke up with a start,to see her husband locking the door after he entered the house.

''Olamide look at the time'',itunu shouted,''what responsible man comes home by this time of the night?ehn!''.
Deep within him,he also did not like coming home late,but his friends had encouraged him to have a bottle of beer with them after the day's work and before he knew it,he spent too much timeat the bar with them before heading home and on his way home,the traffic was so thick,now his lovely wife was angry.

''Itunu please don't shout,the children are sleeping'',he found himself saying.
''oh,u needn't worry about the kids,afterall they know you now keep late outside'',itunu retorted.

The noise woke wuraola,who was just looking at her parents,their fights is now fast turning into a regular occurence.

Itunu turned to her first issue,''wura,go inside and sleep,have a good night my dear''.wura nodded at her mum then went ahead to hug her father,''g'nyt dad''.

''now i think i deserve an explanation'',itunu turned to her husband,he should at least have something to say.

''woman,it's late already,i'm tired.i'l be going to bed now so i can get to work on time and with a clear head tomorrow'',with that he disappeared into his room,with his wife's stare following him.
