Estimated Billing; Which Way Out?

Estimated billing is simply a set up to extort. How difficult is it to meter customers instead of making them pay for services not enjoyed? At some point the cost of my annual estimated electricity bills was catching up with my rent. How can a residential apartment consume 28k monthly? what is the rationale?

To make matters worse small businesses are not immune to this extortionist tendencies of the power companies. Many of them have buckled not as a result of bad managerial skills or a lack of adequate capital but a hostile environment in which they operate. As a business owner what is keeping you down?

Fulani Herders Vs Enugu Herders

The cattle business is worth over N3billion in annual revenue. So why is this lucrative business largely untapped and left in the hands of a select few especially in the North?
Can entrepreneurs from other parts of the country venture into the cattle ranching business to solve the problems in this space. Nothing will absolutely be wrong if we have Akure or Enugu herders or ranchers.

Subsidy Removal
============
Subsidy has been removed. It is now "Petroleum Equalization Fund". What is the difference? The landing cost of a litre of petrol is about N200 but the pump price is N169 meaning a difference of N31 has been paid on my behalf for every litre consumed. Does this even make economic sense when we can afford to build working refineries? Liberalize this industry properly let our quality of life improve Mr Minister.

Save Our Naira

In 2015, the exchange rate hovered around N280/$1. Everyone went agog and I remembered saying Nigeria has never had it this bad and don't think it will get worse. A friend in Huawei shrugged and said the exchange rate will hit N500 if nothing is done quickly. 6 years after that prophesy is now a reality which in essence means nothing has been done to save our Naira

The Irony of Dr Bassey

Bassey and I were buddies in primary school. He would stop by at my house have breakfast with me before we both trecked to our school in Oshodi. This was our routine for 3 years until his family relocated to uyo. I missed my friend and walked to school with my sister for the rest of our primary school years.

25 years later our paths crossed again at an event in PH. He was now a qualified medical Dr with plans to further his studies in Ukraine and possibly relocate finally. He explained the rot in the health care system and the hopelessness he sees in the future. Some of his colleagues even borrow to meet basic needs.

This is totally unacceptable, for people who give so much of their time to saving lives and study so hard to advance the practice of medicine. I know entertainers add value in some ways and are highly rewarded. Shouldn't Doctors who give the most value be rewarded more? This is the Irony. The government of Nigeria isn't doing much to assuage this wickedness by reneging on agreements reached with Doctors.

Bassey just got a grant from Greybond Foundation in Scotland. He is to depart in September. Another loss for Nigeria.

My neighbour bought a Nigerian used Toyota Camry (big for nothing)..he gave it out to someone for Uber, in 3 months the guy delivered 300k and we were all happy, two weeks ago the engine went bad and mechanic is requesting for N400k for another engine. The car is currently parked and my neighbour is in agony...he made 300k and about to spend 400k.

That your agony phrase got me cracking. I know of one that even used black condemned engine oil as power steering fluid until the steering parked.

UBER WAN KILL ME.

"I got a Toyota corolla 2010 in May with the intention of placing it on uber for extra income to supplement my Job as a medical doctor. The agreement was for Saliu to deliver 25K weekly as is the case for many drivers/owner agreement. He protested that he could only do 20k, after going back and forth I agreed and handed the keys to him on a Monday.

On wednesday he complained of some issues with the vehicle. I had my mechanic check and changed the fuel pump, tyres, linkage and a host of other things. I tested this car before purchase all was fine except for the tyres. That week no delivery was made instead I incurred expenses. The following Tuesday I gave him 10k to buy fuel, after 3 days Saliu returned the vehicle with the tank empty. He practically drove on a drop of fuel. I had my mechanic check again, the fuel pump was damaged for the 2nd time in just 3 weeks. I had to park the car until I find some one reliable or I sell the car off for peace of mind."

Lol.. sorry about that. These guys do not realize what it takes to run a business. A friend just went to the police to report a case of a rider who is yet to return his bike after a delivery. Phone off, tracker disbabled. These guys no get chill.

Dealing with workers who feel entitled be a nightmare. There will absolutely be no ways to please them. The earlier you realize this the better. Simply cut them off and begin your search till you find a better fit else your case will be like the man who keeps buying deisel without profits nor visible deliverables. Your deisel go dey miss everyday.
