If only the govt is aware of how this commission has been helping the ordinary man, this would be the most highly funded agency. I have personal experiences with them, how they saved the day in various injustice situations. Some of their staff are wonderful in executing their duties. God bless them for us. Please pay them their dues

Truth is, most of these politicians don't care. Except it is affecting them directly.

I hope this gets to ear of Mr. President or another person.

Our politicians are extremely selfish.

This will affect Tinubu's 2027 agenda if not handled immediately.

Politics / Haram To Protest Against Buhari, Ok For Tinubu - Aare Blasts Northerners by MisterGrace: 9:38am On Feb 20
As protests ripple across the nation, voicing the widespread distress over the prevailing economic challenges, Aare Kurunmi Kakanfo, a proponent of Yoruba welfare and progress, has appealed for peace. He points out that the administration under President Bola Tinubu commenced its term facing significant financial hurdles, having encountered a depleted national treasury upon assuming office last year.

Kakanfo stated that the political and Islamic leaders in the core North declared it unlawful for Muslims to demonstrate, even in the face of Buhari's failure.

Social media accounts and individuals who had previously shown their support for Buhari's shortcomings began criticizing Tinubu as soon as he took office. "Why were protests suddenly no longer HARAM? Praise be to Allah [SWT] [Allahu Akbar!] For this reason, we must be aware of power dynamics and exercise caution to avoid falling into the hands of our deadly political adversaries, the Zikists of the East, who disseminate false information and films in an effort to destabilize Yorubaland. No demonstration in Nigeria can be successful without the South-West.

The governing class was antagonistic to Tinubu and prepared to incite violence against him in an attempt to topple his government. He also inherited an empty treasury. Pa Awolowo has advised Nigeria to establish state or regional police since 1949, arguing that security is a prerequisite for any federal political system. Since Nigeria's unification, Tinubu is the only president to fully back the State police. Although unpleasant, the reforms will undoubtedly have a positive impact.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will usher Nigeria into a golden period, therefore let's be patient," he said.

He said that when President Bola Tinubu's administration came office last year, it inherited an empty treasury.

On Monday, a group of angry young Nigerians assembled in the capital city of Ibadan, Oyo State, to express their displeasure over the country's economic troubles and the rapidly rising cost of food while under Tinubu's leadership.

The demonstrators reportedly brandished posters that read, among other things, "Tinubu, don't forget your promises," "End food hike and inflation," and "The poor are starving" while they were in the state capital's Mokola neighborhood.

The Yoruba agitator asserted in a retort on his verified X handle on Sunday night that Tinubu's predecessor's poor judgment and ignorance were the reason behind the nation's economic collapse. "Nigerian politics is not ordinary; it is sophisticated ethnic warfare," he declared. There is just one winner and no second place.

Nigeria fell into an economic slumber under the feudal eight-year rule of Buhari and his CPC Islamic hardline alliance. Emefiele, a fellow PDP opportunist, used the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as his personal soup kitchen, giving money to his friends and family.

Politics / DCO And Six Others Dead As Terrorists Raid Police Headquarters In Zamfara by MisterGrace: 9:54am On Feb 19
In a tragic incident in Zamfara State, a Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) along with six others were reportedly killed during an assault on the police divisional headquarters in Zurmi Local Government Area. A local, Mohammed Ibrahim, shared with Punch that a large group of heavily armed bandits stormed the town of Zurmi, the LGA's center, at around 5 pm on Sunday, February 18, 2024. The attack not only led to loss of lives but also resulted in several shops being torched by the attackers.

Ibrahim recounted that upon their arrival, the bandits directly targeted the police station, unleashing a barrage of gunfire that resulted in the death of the DCO and injuries to other police officers. The attack also saw the police station set ablaze by the assailants.

This violent outbreak was reportedly in retaliation for the killing of three bandit members by local vigilantes, according to the witness. Ibrahim detailed an earlier confrontation where vigilantes, alongside police forces, had raided a bandit camp in the forest, killing three bandits and capturing another. The captured bandit was subsequently killed after a severe beating. Motivated by revenge for their fallen members, the bandits amassed and attacked the police station in Zurmi, mistakenly believing their captured comrade was held there.

Upon realizing their target was not in the station, they proceeded to set the facility on fire. Ibrahim noted that military personnel have since been deployed to the town, while the bandits retreated back into the forest.

Politics / Breaking News: Gunmen Assassinate Plateau APC Publicity Secretary by MisterGrace: 7:54pm On Feb 18
In a tragic incident, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Sylvanus Namang, has been fatally shot. The attack occurred at a pub within the Pankshin Local Government Area on Saturday, February 17, 2024, leading to the death of Namang and another individual.

A prominent figure within the APC, preferring to remain unnamed, verified the loss of Namang to the Punch in Jos on the following Sunday.

Confirming the incident, the source recounted, “Indeed, it's a fact that we've lost Sylvanus Namang, our spokesperson. He had attended a funeral in Pankshin on Saturday. Later, he stopped by a local eatery to make a purchase. During his visit, armed assailants entered the establishment and opened fire, striking him and another patron. Sadly, Namang succumbed to his injuries and passed away."

The source also shared that the second victim, identified as a local entrepreneur, died as a result of the injuries from the shooting.

The unexpected demise of Namang has left the community and his colleagues in shock, prompting calls for law enforcement to diligently investigate and apprehend those responsible for these senseless acts of violence.

Namang had a distinguished career, including a significant tenure as a director at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), where he managed Lafia FM Radio for four years. Additionally, he served as the Chief Press Secretary to the late Deputy Senate President, Senator Ibrahim Mantu.

Politics / Smuggling: Customs Seizes 15 Trucks Loaded With Food Items In Sokoto by MisterGrace: 7:14pm On Feb 18
In an important operation aimed at curbing smuggling and its impact on the escalating prices of commodities, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 15 trucks loaded with food items in Sokoto State. The operation, disclosed by Abubakar Chafe, the spokesperson for the NCS Sokoto Command, took place on Saturday, February 17, 2024, along the Gwadabawa-Illela road.

The decision to intercept these vehicles was informed by the substantial quantities of farm produce they were transporting, indicating potential smuggling activities. The trucks are currently being held by the command as investigations are underway to determine the ownership and intended destinations of the seized food items.

This collaborative effort involved the NCS Sokoto command, the federal operation unit, and the intelligence unit of the service, highlighting the comprehensive approach taken by the NCS to address the issue. The operation underscores the service's commitment to mitigating the inflationary pressures on food items in Nigeria by preventing smuggling activities that contribute to rising commodity costs.

Benin, Edo State - In a significant political development, Rep. Dennis Idahosa (APC-Edo) has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination for the upcoming governorship election in Edo State, slated for September 21. The announcement was made by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who serves as the chairman of the APC Edo governorship primary election committee, following the conclusion of the primary election this Saturday in Benin.

Governor Uzodimma revealed that Mr. Idahosa garnered a total of 40,448 votes, thereby outpacing eight other contenders in a competitive race for the party's ticket. This victory sets the stage for Rep. Idahosa to represent the APC in the eagerly anticipated gubernatorial contest.
