HealthWhat Is A Well Woman Exam And At What Age Can It Be Done? by MIsurgical(op):
An annual well woman exam is an exam offered to women to review some basic elements of their reproductive health. It is recommended and advisable to be done once a year for all women starting from the age of 18years and above. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, if you’re over 21 but under 29, you should have a pelvic exam done once a year. This yearly visit should include a General Women’s wellness exam which comprises of breast examination, a pelvic examination and a pap-smear for cervical screening but may also include other procedures like cancer screening, health screening, sexually transmitted diseases, concerns about sex, weight control, issues with menstrual period and preconception counselling.

The Pap smear is the test we use to find pre-cancer cells in the cervix before cancer develops…. Most gynaecologists recommend having a Pap smear every three years if their patients’ previous screening tests were normal.

HealthDoes Having An Abortion Affects Fertility? by MIsurgical(op): 4:56pm On Jan 21, 2019
Many women who have done abortions hope to have children later in life. Since having an abortion is just about the literal opposite of having a baby, it's natural to wonder if a past procedure will have an impact on future fertility. Abortion doesn’t have any effect on fertility and doesn’t stop a woman from becoming pregnant in the future. There are two types of abortions namely; A medical abortion, which is done by taking medication and has no effect on future pregnancies while a surgical abortion is done by putting instrumentation into the uterus to evacuate the uterus.
Multiple episodes of instrumentation can cause scarring in the cervix area even if it’s not an abortion procedure. However, women with multiple abortions might have the same risk of abnormal placentation like women who have had multiple cesarean sections.

NOTE: Unsafe, Illegal abortion or any other procedures can lead to permanent damage involving your reproductive organs, so ensure a healthy reproductive future. Speak to your gynecologist on this issue. For more questions on this topic or any gynecology related topic visit us at www.miss.com.ng

HealthCommon Female Cancers And Their Screening Test by MIsurgical(op): 9:20am On Nov 07, 2018
Cancer Kills! All women need to understand the age appropriate screening tests that are recommended in order to detect cancer early. The goal of early detection is to improve your survival rate or cure you of the cancer. The most common female cancers are Breast, Ovarian, Cervical, Endometrial and colon cancers. We recommend women over the age of 21 yrs be screened for cervical cancer by doing a pap smear. Breast cancer is screened in women by age 40 years using a mammogram. Colon, Ovarian and endometrial cancers all have specific tests to aid in early detection of these cancers, depending on a person's symptoms. Visit us at http://www.miss.com.ng to get more information
HealthScreening Of Stds by MIsurgical(op): 10:47am On Nov 01, 2018
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are spread via sexual contact or exposure to bodily fluids. Some examples of STD's like gonorrhea, chlamydia can be treated with simple antibiotics while STDs like HIV or hepatitis C are more chronic in nature. STD symptoms are usually vaginal or penile discharge, abdominal or pelvic pain, redness, fevers or chills. There are tests to screen for STDs which involve either giving blood or urine and doing a vaginal or penile swab. We recommend young adults get screened for all STDs at least once before a new relationship or marriage. We will be happy to speak to you in more detail on this topic. call and or visit us at http://www.miss.com.ng
