Hi Somebody,

Do you know of any organisations, bodies etc for Nigerian professionals in the UK?

You can send me a message if you are more comfortable with that.

TIA

somebody: One last thing - apart from engineering firms, most other firms I know like KPMG, PwC, investment banks, consulting firms don't really care what degree you did so don't limit yourselves to any particular sector except off course you are extremely passionate about a sector smiley. Off the top of my head, companies that had large intakes and sponsored work permits when I was looking for graduate jobs:

1. KPMG
2. PwC
3. Deloitte
4. Deutsche Bank
5. Goldman Sachs
6. Morgan Stanley
7. JP Morgan - they have a Lagos office
8. Shell
9. Exxon Mobil
10. McKinsey - Also now have a Lagos office
11. Bain & Co
12. Ernst & Young
13. and many more smiley

I know Nigerians at all the companies I mentioned except for many Ernst & Young and Bain & Co so don't be deterred. targetjobs.co.uk was also quite useful for job opportunities. Goodluck!

Mynd_44:
i agree. Most men come back home because they believe that the difference in culture might be a barrier

Difference in culture how? Are the nigerian girls in the west not nigerians? won't they share the same culture with their counterparts who reside in Nigeria?

Why do Nigerian men in the diaspora particularly US/UK guys go to Nigeria to find a wife when there are so many beautiful, single and well behaved nigerian girls here in the west?

Men who have done this or intend to what are your reasons? I am truly curious.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Lecky Konsult International Is Recruiting In Nigeria by mizztee234: 1:27am On Feb 08, 2010
It is either Mr Lecky has multiple aliases on NL or lots of u are in on this scam. Did you read the "About us" or "Contact us" section of the site posted by OP at all? If you did, Is it similar to the information in the link i provided?

Link 1: Lecky Scam is based in the U.S

My Link: Mr Lecky is apparently based in nigeria, worked in Abj, provided a nigerian bank acct and mobile numbers.
further proof http://www.jobvacancyoption.com/register.html

You lot will peharps say "what if he works for them?" Well Mr Lecky claims he started his business and what Mr Lecky claims to do is very different from what is on the website.
Let's not forget Mr Lecky quoted the same website as his official website address in the first link i provided.

It is so obvious this is a scam.

@ lelele thanks 4 your advice. I'm truly going to study, it's just that i don't want to wait another year as i am not getting any younger. As u may or may not know, age has become a major factor in the nigerian labour market. Organizations now specify an age for applicants in addition to the academic and other requirements.
@Ebonyj thanks!!!!!

Hello all
I was refused a student visa in September. I want to apply for another in november for a january admission, though it's a different school but it's the same course.
The initial school has agreed to defer my admission but i don't think i want to wait till September 2008.
Do you think i should go ahead with the application and hope i won't seem desperate to leave the country?

OR

Do you think i should just wait till Sept 2008
Thanks
Honest opinions would be welcomed because i really don't want another refusal stamp on my passport

Hi everyone,
I have read through the thread and i know i can get some valuable advice. I have just been refused a study visa; my school resumes 1/10/07; the school is ready to grant me an extension of resumption date till 15/10/07.
Do you think i should still re-apply for the visa (hope it is not too late) OR
Should i defer the admission?
Which of these options do you think is best for me?
Thank you in advance.
