Correction: The John Wick universe is focused on assassins and their various "gangs" and "gangsters" under one umbrella and 'code'.

I don't know why you are at pains to distance the John Wick movies from the usual "gang-related" stories. Admitting it will not detract from the beauty of the story.

The Batman would be a gang movie then since once you have "elements" of gangsterism in a film, you're TECHNICALLY a gang movie. 😃 Mission Impossible and James Bond are gangster movies too. Same as The Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises.

I feel the issue is many people only limit their knowledge of gangs to street gangs showing their gangsterism (especially black Americans) and perhaps the mafias. Whereas, gangs come in many forms. It may be prison gangs, narcotic gangs, yakuzas, agberos, punk gangs, assassins gangs, robbery gangs, graffiti gang among others.

Whereas, a Batman going against gangs terrorising Gotham is also a gang movie. 2. Assasins know different form of martial arts due to training and are experts in killing.

You are damn right. Both franchise have the gang elements in them. Batman had to fight the league of shadows in Batman begins and dark knight rises. In the dark knight, if I could remember, there were some gangs who were tired of Batman and had to hire jokers service to end him. I’m sure James Bond had to deal with some gangs in some of the movies in James Bond franchise.
