layifioren:Thanks for your advice and input, I truly appreciate it. Please anyone knows where I can get transmission from an accidented SUV or a good mechanic that can rebuild mine? |
layifioren:The tranny can actually be fixed. The only challenge is getting a pro who knows how to fix it. Acura is a luxury brand and this particular MDX is very rugged. |
sultaan:This is serious agbana. I actually bought the SUV from BJ MOTORS here on Nairaland and to think I just sold my 2001 Acura TL after driving it from May 2009 to January 2017 without any major issues. I am certain, I will get the best solution to this problem and enjoy the ride until it is replaced. |
layifioren:Yes, by new I mean a used transmission. My main fear is finding a trusted mechanic that can rebuild the tranny without any recurring problems in the near future. Preferably, I would have loved a used tranny from an accidented 04 or 05 MDX. Bottom line, I need the best guy to fix it. |
I bought the 2003 Acura MDX January 2017. I first noticed the gear changes in a hard jerk the very day I bought it on my way home. This happened about 4 times after about 3 hours of driving. After, I did a full service, the jerking stopped, but always happened once in a while when I drive long distance. When I put the SUV in gear, reverse to be precise, after driving for a while, it takes about 20 seconds to pick. When I step on the gas, the RPM goes up, then the SUV starts to slowly take off, which means the transmission is slipping. The SUV drags for a while before eventually moving as it should. Last week, I drove from Ajah to Sango, the jerking started from Third mainland bridge, then the transmission partially failed when I got to Sango. The A/T temp light came on and the SUV started to drag. It was moving very slowly till I got to my destination. After about two hours, I headed back home, the A/T temp light was off and the SUV was driving normally. The hard jerk when changing gears started again, then suddenly the gear refused to engage when I was in traffic. I had to switch off the ignition and turn it back on before it engaged. I have checked the transmission oil and it is normal. It does not smell burnt or feel loose. I have watched severally videos on YouTube and I am convinced the transmission is bad and needs a replacement or rebuild. More so, the mileage on it is about 313,000.00 miles. Please experts in the house, how do I fix this dreaded transmission problem? Do I purchase a new transmission gear or have a pro like Gazzuzz do a rebuild. |

How much can I get the following SUV: 2009 Volvo XC90 2007 BMW X5 3.0i |
Please I need the VIN report for this VIN number > 2HNYD18613H003456 my email is emee30384@yahoo.com Thanks for your help. |
nurey:Great advice Nurey. The only issue is the price of the Toyota Prado and its very common. I love cars that stand out. You also have a great point on unforeseen circumstances. I once got stranded at Ijebu Ode when the 2002 Volvo V70 I was driving over heated and the gasket burnt. I could not get the radiator in the whole of Ijebu Ode. I had to hire a cab to Ladipo to buy one. However, is the Toyota Prado fuel efficient? since it is not listed amongst the top 10 fuel efficient SUV's online. |
diportivo:Thanks for the input. I intend to buy it for my wife due to its safety features. The Acura MDX seems not to be very fuel efficient. I will feel more comfortable knowing my wife and kids are in a Volvo XC90. Thanks again. |

Am still searching |
Still searching |
I am still searching for an apartment |
Hello everyone, I am in search of a 3 or 4 bedroom duplex to let. Preferably alone in the compound or 2 tenants in the compound. Never more than 2 tenants in a compound. Preferred area is Lagos Business School, Abraham Adesanya, Ajiwe, Mega Chicken and environs. My budget is 600k - 800k. Any house above 800k please don't bother. (Paying 800k for a rented apartment in these times is a huge miracle). If you have what I need for my family, please leave your number and details of the property and I will give you a call as soon as I can. Thank you for your time. |
Lovely ride. I wish you speedy sales |
josite:You definitely have insider knowledge about the politics of Nigeria and most importantly the spiritual angle. Buhari will lose and maybe Tinubu may also lose out, but his legacy will remain legendary. Fashola will definitely pay for his arrogance towards Tinubu except he has gone to prostrate to him. Amaechi is definitely with Tinubu and hopes to be President in 2019 or 2023. After all has been said and done, the 4th man in the fire decides who will govern Nigeria. But then again, Tinubu is an ambitious man who can always turn the hands of time and have his way like he did in the 2015 election. The man is dangerous, cunning, calculating and very wise. He knows who is on his side and those against him. If Buhari goes against Tinubu, then the North may never govern Nigeria in another 30 years. |
How much is the bumper of a 2001 Acura 3.2 TL and a pair of rear light? Please also give me direction to your shop from Ikoyi or V.I. |
Experts in the house please your opinion is needed here. |
READ THIS THREAD, MODIFY YOUR PRICE AND ADD MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE SUV AND I MIGHT CALL AND BUY IT FOR MY WIFE. https://www.nairaland.com/2619379/auto-section-dead/2 |
Thanks for the tips. Knowledge is always power. Sadly, few of those criticising this post are either auto mechanics who don't want folks to possess this knowledge or they are damn ignorant. I have fixed a nagging problem in my car by myself twice after spending thousands of naira with no result. A simple search of the problem on Google and watching the video on Youtube on how to fix it was all I did and the problem was fixed. It's called DIY - Do it yourself. |
FEMI ADESHINA IS AN A.S.S.HOLE WHO HAS LOST TOUCH WITH THE REAL REALITY OF THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN. IF WE EVER MEET IN PERSON, I WILL PUNCH YOU SO HARD TO MAKE YOU FEEL "THE NIGERIAN HARDSHIP" SINCE YOUR BLOODY CHANGE GOVERNMENT TOOK OVER. |
The table has suddenly turned against the EFCC and this case will become that of the hunter becoming the hunted. The family of the deceased can make over 200 million naira from EFCC if they get a good lawyer. Whether he is guilty of fraud or not is irrelevant now. The man is dead and his life cannot be "refunded". |
Hello Bob, Are you in Lagos? I need a male Caucasian puppy as soon as possible. |
We shall overcome. Nigeria will not destroy nor defeat us. My fellow Nigerians, if the LORD is leading you to relocate, please do and if He is telling you to stay and weather the storm also do because better days are ahead. But as for me and my household, we are out of Nigeria at first light. |
Rest in the bosom of the LORD. |
