babs2011:Chick,i have never ever in my lifetime asked for a flat stomach talkless of a six pack,i dont mind if random people see that i have a lil bit of tummy going on,all am asking for is to look ''NOT PREGNANT'' is that too much to ask?? As for the naysayers:they dont even matter in the equation,i dont want dead woods pulling me back,a neighbourhood friend who had previously thumbed her nose at my efforts just got the ''keep fit bug''.i saw her on the trail[i walk on the hilly incline in my area]huffing and puffing this morning,i expressed ''surprise'' because despite being a medical practioner she isn't cut from that cloth, she told me she doesn't want to get to my own ''starting point'' before taking action.good for her!! |
GenBuhari:Here you are,was about to ask if you had gone on a vacation to a nut farm!!!LOL,how are you doing ? |
I get you my sis,i can swear that one of my co-wives[my hussy's nephew's wife]belly got flatter after having had two children,go figure!!!.If you see me all decked out in my battle regalia[WONDERBRA + GIRDLE] i no dey gree oo, i have also resolved to never entering my WHR into any of the newfangled thingy on Oyibo websites ANYMORE,cos it keeps reporting ''You carry a large percentage of your weight in your midsection and therefore at risk of developing coronary issues, metabolic disorders, e.t.c''I GO KILL MYSELF if na dem send to me,i no dey house LOL |
[quote author=Hour_Glass link=topic=282744.msg8202723#msg8202723 date=1303757490]I get your point o modath, there is always a checker at every point in either weight loss or exercising, God kept it there and its working very well but we try to ignore it more often cos of our ambitions. You know one funny thing my friend normally tell me that some of these girls had done some "modifications" (surgery) to their tummies and give us a false impression that it is sit up and crunches that took them there. And as you pointed out some of them have never had babies too. My brother's wife has 3 boys, she is not a skinny lepa and i cant remember her having exercised before but her tummy is super flat, so atimes sef na the individual body make up, shikena. I really thank God for you anyways, considering where you are coming from. Happy Easter to all. Careful with the cookies!!! [/quote I get you my sis,i can swear that one of my co-wives[my hussy's nephew] belly got flatter after having had two children,go figure!!!.If you see me all decked out in my battle regalia[WONDERBRA + GIRDLE] i no dey gree oo, i have also resolved to not ever entering my WHR into any of the newfangled thingy on Oyibo websites ANYMORE,cos it keeps reporting ''You carry a large percentage of your weight in your midsection and therefore at risk of developing coronary issues, metabolic disorders, e.t.c''I GO KILL MYSELF if na dem send to me,i no dey house [/quote] |
@ALL, Hi,how y'all doing?!!! |
O.kkkkk,I thought you were sparring with Agaba or General as usual .True talk my sis i just read up some stuff on spark,about.com and Myfitnesspals and all everyone is talking about is HIIT,unstainable food portions and monstrously heavy weights.especially with their ''IF I CAN DO IT SO CAN YOU'' spiel[you can do it,i have the strenght and stamina to get it done but cant force my body to do what it doesn't have the physical capacity to do] they make me feel like a weakling[with my 3-5kg weight] when i go there to catch up on tips for myself.i started doing lots of Intervals because of plateau and i got addicted, and it showed up my skeletal weakness, now no one needs to preach moderation to me,i get it now, unless i want to be like some people i've read about that have become semi-invalids,though i still have plans of shredding when i am pressed for time but i kow me and ''baby winch''[Natalie] no longer have any business with each other.Me sef i be confused soul,i have never had a flat stomach so why do i think i can beat my post two C-S[big babies] belly into submission,i have always known that what you dont have you cannot exhibit, most of this people were either skinny at once, never had children or have had flat stomachs at one point in their lives,so why i wan try God .i have made friends with my Girdles and i believe a 33'' waist and 36'' isn't the worst in this part of the world,my belly even looks better than the way it was in that picture i sent you before.True story, forgot to fill you in earlier,a weekend only workout warrior lady joined me on my walk this morning, she is about 5'3,80-85 kgs with massive bobbies and arms, you know the type who are fat but only want to sit-up away their stomach fat,she also told me about sundry pomades and herbs she has that are ssupposed to ''shrink fat'' . she straight up complained that i was skinny and shouldn't be exercising but i explained to her that losing is the easy part, she didn't buy it and told me i should just rest on my laurels.Told her about the benefit of a clean diet but she told me she couldn't live without her junks, will try hard and work on her in the coming weeks in order to changed her mndset, fingers crossed. |
[quote author=Hour_Glass link=topic=282744.msg8189683#msg8189683 date=1303579590] dem dey dia, i will not repost though, ave had my share of the spambot.i noticed that too, moderate and consistent. Most exercisers seems to use intense to break plateaus except some [/quote]Babe,I am lost, shine light make i see well well. |
HG, I thoroughly understand you and i agree with the obsession thing but in all honestly what i get are aches and stiffness, people complain of debilitating pains so i believe i got it good and shouldn't complain too much. This morning i did my modified workout, what gets to me though is that the few months that i gave my pounding of its life i only lost a few measly kgs,i lost the most when i was doing moderate impact exercises. |
@HG, Big Amen and back at you!!!!!I had the same connection issue too butn thought traffic was to blame. I did some research on Spondylosis and arrived at two conclusions i am one of the very very lucky few[who dont have immobilising pains] and its mostly an old peoples' ailment, anyway who am i to question the maker, all that is left is to make lemonade out of the lemon i have been handed, shouldn't run will do brisk walks, never do push up can do planks never attempt sit up will fly like superman, babe there are options and i will take advantage of them. ![]() One very sure thing though is that i will never quit working out a,its just that i can only do moderate impact exercises which is fine by me,and i must make sure to never have any noticeable weight gain that may cause undue stress to my skeletal column. I have had a car knock me down at age four, had okada accident 2x,fell off a bicycle and fell out trees like 2x,so i know something gave somewhere, its just showing up now for the lumbar spondylosis, for the neck my mum told me i couldn't hold my neck steady properly till i was about 18 months,it used to flop to my right shoulder which is where the weakness is. |
Guys, Whatever deep seated issues you guys got going on,kindly take it outside(Politics),i know for a fact that you guys are active there as well so why!!!!! The general mood here is supposed to be lighthearted and mellow.so why does it always have to be a tug of war.i am as political(local and foreign, even economic policies and old and new govt et al interest me )if not more than you guys but everything has its place.quit with it i beg of you. @Crystal,Babs,HG, Ladies where are at thous?my ESR result came back high and i was advised to take it again next week in order to be sure,no cause for alarm though as its evident that my issue is congenital(curved spine) i just aggravated because i was ignorant of my pre existing condition so no more running for me unless i am being chased by death itself.i am starting physio in two weeks time so i can limber up funny that i used to think i was just inflexible. |
I'm right here, still keeping on.just miss the old feel of this thread as its gotten a bit too melodramatic for me. |
GenBuhari:I refuse to dignify this post with a response!!!!!!!!!!!!!. |
@HG, I am a student of the what you put into something is exactly what you get back school of thought so i was expecting stagnation/increase.it was totally unexpected.maybe my body was resisting the "onslaught'' i was putting it through. I will dearly miss my runs but i love my health and wellbeing more. |
Alright, Miracle of all miracles,i have lost half inch in my waist, dropped .5kg and even though i am not completely pain free,i feel so much better(except the occassional shoulder twinges and that is cos i haven't mastered the 180 degree neck/side turn) just cos i stopped running and pushing myself. I am stumped but since am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, imma ride this wave till whenever i hit an iceberg. |
Hey you, I am not going to allow you to drag me down there with you.i know enough to never get in a mudfight with a PIG,it's its forte and only two things happen. 1.You soil yourself. 2.Only the PIG has fun. |
HourGlass1:3kg and i am always with natalie, hoping to resume when i get all things in order. |
babs2011:@Babs, Thanks for the vote of confidence, its uplifting. The condition is something that sedentary people have too and in all my research inactivity will make the issue worse, the truth is that i might have been overexerting myself and i am using this rest period to recover, but i still did my workout today. catch ya later,i am in election mood .team BB all the way. |
@HG, Have you thought of slowing down a bit and just do brisk walks,i had shin splints but within a month i got over it,maybe you try walking for about a week or thereabout to give the shin/ankle/calf some relief, you'd then gently ease back into it.dont want anyone else getting injured even though i didn't get injured working out,the impact of exercise just highlighted the underlying problem. Jillian is exactly what i want in a trainer i dont want a bosom buddy i want results, what is worth doing at all is worth doing well.my 2k @All, I had to repeat my x-ray and focus only on the cone[learnt a lot of medical jargons and terms within the last few days]because the initial one i did showed a shortening of some disc/columns/vetebrae not sure which,it showed that there is indeed a problem,i was also asked to run a series of tests in order to rule out bone infection[PCV,RBS,GSR,e.t.c] and then we take it from there, they are trying to narrow down the cause so they can know how best to treat it.i am just pissed that its stopping me from my normal endorphin fix and am also too young to be having such ''oyibo'' man issues, agabaI23:I repeated what i did yesterday but added 10 mins to it and it didn't bother me at all, will continue with routine till i feel improvements in my back and shoulder. |
Hi ALL, Went for a brisk walk at the break of dawn cos i was feeling blah, did some squats[without weight] walking lunges and stretches all under 40 mins,i felt tremendously better after.it didn't feel right probably because it was not high impact but i tried to avoid anything jarring so i'll take anything i can get and thank the Lord for little mercies. I also forgot to tell you guys the outcome of the result i was able to get drum roll pls, ''SPONDYLOSIS'' goggle it and you will see its a ''TREAT''. |
@ALL, Thanks for the love and goodwill, its greatly appreciated,i am not in great pains, its just a lot of discomfort,i come on here everyday but i have just been unhappy about this[needed] inactivity but i have to force myself to take the needed break and i haave another week of R&R to go. @Agaba, I have done the x-rays and going back on friday to see the orthopedic surgeon on friday for the way forward. @HG, Thanks for the prayers, your post made me cry girl!!!!! @Babs, Dearie thanks a bunch, pls go for the skipping rope you'll never regret it but be prepared to work hard cos its intense, but i know you are up to the task. |
babs2011:woo hoo,you have just demonstrated the difference between Try and Triumph, its the little ''UMPH'' at the end,you making me smile girl!!!!!! Can you believe the stupid general hospital couldn't take my full back x-ray because the machine is bad with no hope of repairs in a fortnight, thank God for little mercies, the smaller one took that of my neck but am not getting my result till next week when the Dr is available to write the report, what a shame. My resolve is stronger, ''Sai Buhari''. |
This is an issue we should tackle at the polls tomorrow,i implore people to think deeply and do the right thing for this generation and the NEXT,the onus is on us,lets usher in a new dawn.God will help us. |
FCT House of Reps===Boma Goodhead[ACN] Senate=======Kayode Ajulo[If he hid and claimed kidnap,i doff my hat to him, ingenious chap]Labour party Presidency===Gen Buhari[CPC] and i dont care if its a waste,i value my vote and time so i will not give anything of mine to parasitic ingrates. |

caribchic:@carbchic, Welcome, its nice that we have people who are at healthy weight and are just interested in maintaining and keeping fit. calorie count is not a one size fits all thing, each body and metabolism is wired differently but i believe 600 cals is not too much breakfast lunch or dinner, multiplied by 3 is still 1800 Cals.its calorie in,calorie out.300 cals in 5 places is 1500 cals, its too little and not suistanable for a fully grown ''ACTIVE'' woman let alone a ''man'.'the problem with the General's general diet is that he eats a lot of processed foods. The rule of the thumb is to burn more than you consume, doesn't matter how you stagger your meal, really!!! http://jimmysmithtraining.com/six-pack-diet/small-meals-and-your-metabolism http://fitexcellence.com/2010/09/1-eating-lots-of-small-meals-doesnt-speed-up-your-metabolism/ http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/23/health/23really.html?_r=1 http://www.ashtanga-accommodation.info/the-weight-loss-lie-that-might-be-causing-you-to-gain-weight http://www.realsimple.com/health/nutrition-diet/weight-loss/busting-10-diet-myths-10000001700385/page2.html \ |
Ejadamen:He will a blessing to his generation, his coming will increase you in every facet of your life.u do well mama bom boy. @Babs, The pain is very inconsistent,it bothers me less when i am doing JM,i know its there its the kind of pain i can work through, its when i am running that i feel it the most.its an inflammatory kind of thing,it feels kinda warm half of the time. |
babs2011:Babs, You dey obodo oyibo ![]() I never had a twinge in my back before last year until i bumpe up my fitness routine, but i had a desk job[Customer care in a bank] that involved sitting for about 12 hrs daily,it gave me severe back pain carrying my daughter,i even had to have my C-S done at 37 weeks because i was constantly sick and at the limit of my endurance. I really can not say if its a result of pregnancy then aggravated by intense exercise or if exercise is solely to blame, but i know for a certainty it will get better with time, i am taking a break though from running for the whole of this month and going back to brisk walking only,i will dearly miss my endorphin rush but its necessary to take the time to recover and heal ''completely''. N.B==Peeps should realize that what happened to me isn't typical and completely sedentary people have it,its just a misalignment of the back bones and it is correctable,i didn't trade fat for orthopedic issues, its just a freak incident and i am seeing a physio tomorrow, fingers crossed, |
efisher:No where did i post that the Prof asked people to vote Buhari,or mention CPC,AC,APGA or Labour Party, though he professed a ldesire for a youth centric kingd of governance for the country, secondly did you read the posts and mark each posters comments properly. I cant really be bothered by people like you though,we know your motivations and leanings. timbuk two: |
Mai Suya:No,he did not!!!its an analogy.pouring old wine in a new bottle is never going to make it fresh either, another nalogy. efisher:I am completely in awe of the thinking of some people,Cain and Abel are of the same parents.Ruminate on that. |
@Babs, I didn't do any structured exercise today just the normal household chores,i woke up and didn't feel like it,will see what tommorrow will bring but i dont forsee doing anything high impact for another 2-3 days,i have a weak left shoulder and a lil bit of sciatica in my right side so will take a rest[difficult decision]from all things intense, @Agaba, Seriously, why are you anti Buhari[I dont want the usual ethno-religious sentiments]. @General, Any progress??i love that you are taking more interest in eating healthier and moving more, but i'd like us to go easy on the nuts. |
Dear Nigerians, An African black mamba, rattler or a viper is never going to reproduce a bull snake,it will only give birth poison like itself.lets continue to wallow in ethnic, religious and regional sentiments and vote People who will sink us further into the abyss, our children and children's children will thank us and immortalise us for it!!!! |

! Seriously though what i went thru when i decided to shift the excess weight really opened up my eyes to human nature. Wow, some pple can be intimidated by change even at the level of someone elses weight loss goal. I was the recipient of all sorts of 'advice' and undue concern hm, in the end i told them if you can't beat me join me jare, get your trainers on, heres the dvd, abi! lol i wasn't hiding what i was doing. funny enough up till now none of them have been serious to take me on, including this 'friend' i saw today.
