Good work out
You should make effort to eat before 7:30 pmI am innocent you can ask GenBuhari cheesy
Agaba,
Please do not enroll in the the school of the uninformed,if you are a student of that school of thought please withdraw,this is a myth and it has been found wanting,it is only useful as a calorie control tool,or if you have difficulty in sleeping if you are full.in the grand scheme of calorie in calorie out it has no bearing.
I lost a lot of weight through exercise and portion control in 2001 when i was in school,i used to eat at 12 midnight on my bed and roll over and doze off but it never had any impact,at the moment there are days i eat at 10 pm if i am genuinely hungry,if it is a craving i do fruit or salad[no dressing].
Innocent my foot,you cheeky one!!Though i must tell you that I do absolutely enjoy your banter with the ''General Nut lover''[Why on earth did you zero in on that moniker,even thought its obvious ,e funny die] i smile every time i see you guys posts.

@General & Agaba,
You are no better than my almost 5 and 2yr old!!! but i adore the camaraderie all the same.BTW i am voting for Buhari too not because he is the love of my life but Jonathan's handlers are the reason we are in such deep s*** and they should be hidden in places where the sun never shines, My 2k.

@Modath: going to do JM dvd tmrw. When I first got the dvd I worked my way up from level 1 to 3 doing it 3/4 times a week, but its been a while I've done it so going to start from level 1 again. I use 3kg weights. My plan is to do level 1 for 2 weeks then move to the next level. How are you doing it?
@Babs,
I do two levels at once and i do it with 3kg dumb bells too as well but i don't do the modified version,i am a bad ass so i am always with ''Natalie''.LOL,I do it two days back to back then take a rest day but this week i did it yesterday walked for 30 min today and for tomorrow am thinking of doing level three and some skipping after.I am taking it easy for the next few days so my sciatica wouldn't flare up again.
I love bread too but i stick with wheat bread and not the bland ones,i get mine from Tesco[Abuja] bakery or Park ''n'' shop,i cant stand the awful tasteless ones.Gag!!!!
My problem too used to be overeating cos i never had a sweet tooth,cake,pies,cookies,dodo,chocolate,pastries e.t.c don't interest me but i can eat rice,eba,pounded yam,amala e.t.c meant for two people in a seating.My parents ''encouraged us to get second helpings'' and woe betide you if you don't clean out your plate.I love them and they are wonderful people but food wise they didn't raise us right.!!!!!

Talking about choices, something happened yesterday i would like to share, i was very hungry around 4pm yesterday and then i just passed in front of a show of very tempting doughnuts, i walked back and forth thrice and i said loud to myself the third time 'pineapple and w/melon will do you much better than these' and i went straight eating fruits till i was satisfied. Though small, i believe its another battle won.

What is your height? whatever it is, you have done well at your age to have lost 24kg and still maintained it for 6 months.
And BTW it is good you are holding on to your shred.
I believe i am about 5'6''.i am maintaining my weight with the intention of getting down to 70-72kg[the highest weight on my BMI range] because the alternative is dire,i am one of these people who have never had a flat tummy all thir lives,i not only store fat around the midsection,i  have had two c-sections[microsomia]got a direct hit by car to the left side of my belly when i was about 4, i also have low muscle tone in my abs .i still need to shave about 2-3 inches off my belly.its 33.5 at the indentation,35-36 around the belly button and 37.25 at the stomach area.as long as i dont ever want to look pregnant when i am not i have to watch it and truthfully i dont want to be a diabetic like my mum or be hypertensive like my dad.
I used to look pregnant till about three months ago,now strangers no longer call me ''mama twins,''mama tinuke,''big belle'' and what have you,its been an uphill task but i have never thought of giving up,sometimes i feel very pained when i feel the results i deserve aren't materialising but as long as i keep putting in my best,i am satisfied,and i can put it all down commitment and God's grace.

Welcome back nonny. @ all, is there something psychological between eating and exercising? For me, i tend to be more conscious of my eating habits when am working out regularly but when am off for either a day, two or few, i am outta control, its either too little, too much or moderately wrong foods. Yester night was a good example i ended up adding two more cups to my dinner after finishing 1 cup. See you lerra
Babe,
Sure,it is only a loser that will spend 60 mins exercising and burning about 500 cals and then proceed to blow it on a burger.i am so thankful God has conquered my demon for me.

babs2011:
Hi all, smiley I discovered this thread over the weekend and I've been reading through and love this sort of accountability/motivation from seeing others progress. So I've decided to join in as I think this is what I need to help me keep my weight/eating habits on track.

I would also like to log my daily food diary here and exercise efforts. In 2010 I lost my post baby weight gain through a combination of regular exercise, healthy eating and determination (it took around 10 months in total) and I dropped from size 16 to size 10. I lost nearly 20 kg in total.

Fast forward 6 months and the current situation is I'm struggling on the maintenance path and boy is it hard! The weight loss process seemed easier when I had a target in mind but now, there is no target per se, just healthy living as a way of life so I've been trying to establish good eating habits. Its not been easy. I've been so on and off with this and especially recently I slacked off from doing exercise as I was getting bored and my eating went haywire. My size 10 jeans were getting tight and I decided to face the music, stepping on the scale I discovered that I've put on around 5kg! I know this doesn't sound like much but I'm all aware how little by little this could creep up until I'm back to where I started from!
So I'm doing recovery and damage limitation now and trying to get back to basics. I will endeavour to post daly food intake and any exercise done. My main form of workouts are exercise dvds - particularly Tae bo (Billy Blanks) which I totally attribute to helping me achive a flat tummy after two kids - it really works. I also mix it up with some Jillian Michaels - 30 day Shred, and I try to run once or twice a week. So basically I aim for 4 workout sessions per week. So will start logging from tommorow.

Have a nice evening all!
@Babs,
Hi and welcome.i see you are a co-shredder,lets share notes.You have a life long goal of keeping yourself in optimum health and shape and i

I have got up from my slumber, if you were sleeping get up too grin grin
I am always on my grind cos this isn't a temporary fix but a lifelong thing for me,i occasionally take naps but i never go into deep slumber,i did level 1 and 2 of my 30 day shred and did my stretches thereafter.i am still rocking the same 76-77 kg swing I've been for close to 6 months and i will not call it a plateau but what my body is comfortable with.i am in my 30s and i have children and from the almost 100kg am coming from i am not doing too badly.Friends are begging me to put on some weight so my cheekbones will stop showing,but the irony is that i have a long face and i love the cheekbones.LOL.

anathemia:
i need to lose about 8kg.
Last two years, i had mild ED-NOS, i used to eat once in 4 or five days, workout 2hours daily except sundays. It was crazy. I lost 20kg in two months. I'm dead serious. I weighed 80 at first then 58 at the end.then school went on strike for 4months and i gained it all back It destroyed my life! My optimal weight is 65kg. I weigh 73kg now & i've started eatin once a day and if i continue, i'll stop eatin again. I already feel suicidal! Help!!!
They say my body still remembers the starvation i put it thru thats why i can't lose weight fast anymore.
Anathemia,
First and foremost welcome, i didn't want to respond initially because we don't have any solution to your problems,we do exercise,diet control and most importantly motivational pep talk on this thread what you need is a ''Doctor'' for your ''Suicidal thoughts'' .
Honestly i wish i could fast and not feel like my intestine will stop functioning by 4p.m,i salute your courage.

@Tollu,
When i saw custard,juice,biscuits,fried plantain and akara i wanted to say something but decided not to initially but since you are thinking the same way,i will do the needful. I am currently working on one for you but its mostly unprocessed foods because that is what i am into,do i put it up when i am through with it.

@HG,
Babe don't despair it will appear this way initially but it will gradually firm back up as time goes on but don't expect them to get back to the way it was before you gained weight ever.think deeply,were they as big as this when you weighed less no,so the extra fat you gained are leaving and the skin's elasticity is adjusting to the change. take upper body resistance training seriously and learn how to do good ''Push Ups'' the girls need it.
The inventors of Wonderbra deserve a special place in heaven as far as i am concerned.I have given up on my girls because not only have my hussy done his own damage tongue tongue tongue in the 13 yrs we've been together,my two angels have done their own number on them too,so all am doing is ''Damage Control'' LOL.

@Crystal,
What gave you away is the oyibo food in your log.

@General,
Please discard your scale, i have a digital scale and it measures my dumb bell accurately so any scale that gives more than .5 margin of error deserves to be tossed.

Say what at the bolded? And to think I was doing great with my portion sizes.

I am more on the Paris Hilton/Nicole Richie side.Just to give you an idea, I wear a US 4 or 6 dress size. I also think that I weigh heavier than I look. Maybe I 've got heavy bones or it might just be the 'Skinny Fat' you talked about.
Take a look at some of your posts and you'd observe what i am trying to get across to you but i do agree that some people don't have a big appetite[unlike moi] and can make a meal of smoothie but you can lose inches still be at the same weight and gain some much needed curves the right way.i personally dont like the emaciated waif look and it should not be anything anyone should aspire for unless its natural and effortless,in that case the person should own it and be proud,but Have you always been skinny? do you have any muscle tone?.

@HG,
HG,stop all you are doing,start pigging out on cookies chocolate,deep fried stuff,sugar laden things,in short every gut bursting,sugar level increment inducing and cardiac arrest inducing stuff you can get and pig out on it for about 3-6 months,gain an inordinate amount of weight or get to Ruby's[Star of style network's show ''Ruby] if you are well and able to,then start living healthy,you will feel the weight even dropping of your body.
You are my girl but meeeeeen I feel like jumping into the screen appear at your end and shake you vigorously,girl you are asking if losing 1kg a fortnight is ''too little'' at your weight and stats,you are doing beautifully do you want to lose your muscles,sanity and mind,go get a kilo of turkey/chicken/beef e.t.c and imagine that amount of fat leaving your body[I hope for life] and sanity and you want to take it to starvation and punishing workout level??.
Babe you aren't taking appetite suppressants,neither are you working out for a minimum of 150-180 min daily,you aren't doing drastic things that will be almost impossible to keep up with,you are doing it the SUSTAINABLE WAY!!!!.

General,
You are the one on a weight loss plan not your wife and kids,so don't lay any blame on their doorsteps,you have to always remind yourself of your objectives and plans otherwise you will just continually have a reason why they are derailing you,are you going to ban them from having what they like in order not to tempt you or you are going to ''join them since you can't beat them''.
The people in my house eat dodo,white bread,doughnut e.t.c,my children have lots of goodies in the store and fridge,we keep packs of sugared drink in my house,my niece likes fried yam and heavily buttered toast[it smells divine when she is making it]we have cookies,pringles e.t.c in my store but i know these stuff aren't what i should be having so i don't even look at them.i have only been able to minimize the amount of fried foods they have and we don't fry the fish/meat we use for our sauce/soup otherwise everything else is normal.
My husband is 39,about 5'9 or 10' and he weighs 78kg,his stomach is super flat and he has no metabolic syndrome you think i am going to stop him from eating what he likes when i know he only eats twice daily,in all the years i have been with him[7 dating 6 married] he has never eaten to the point of being completely full,the truth is that one of my motivation is never to look like i could be his aunt.

hello house

pls confirm if a tin of evaporated milk is equivalent to 1cup in naijahuh? cos seems am getting d measurement wrong

also whats 1serving in nija??

i dont want to over eat.
I dont really know when it comes to serving sizes,i only know the the portion we get at eateries is the correct serving size.with other things i just practice moderation.what i do when it comes to milk is to take a tin and divide it into two,use half first then refrigerate the other half for another day.I only take skimmed or semi-skimmed milk, i used to take marvel but it tasted too much like garri so i switched to dano slim,still wasn't greasing my pan so i now take peak low fat.
Dont sweat it just eat what will keep you from feeling hunger not eat till you are full,if you are like me and have a healthy apetite compensate with carrots,cucumber,garden egg,water melon and cabbage it will take a lot of this stuff to make you fat!!!!!!

Sorry but from experience I know that it is easy to get carried away and over exert ourselves and this is not sustainable because we may get injury which may make us not to sustain the regular excercise regime.

As long as u know u are getting enough rest and are not over tasking your body you would be ok.
General,
Thanks for your concern but i got this,Jillian recommends it be done 30 days straight but i don't. I do 2/1,i listen to my body and since i like to eat[albeit healthily] i have to work out.i also like to workout Cos of the endorphin rush i get after my workout,i love the fact that i am strong fit and healthy,aches and pain will come but as long as i am on point with the stretches R4R recommended and the others i do with my gym ball,I'll be good .

Its great that you are doing the slow and steady thing,whatever suits you go for it,as per the sugar vs honey issue the debate isn't about nutritional value but calorie per gram,and i have never seen nor heard of honey flavoured pre-packaged drink. i am not crazy about either of them,cant remember the last time i spiked any drink of mine with any sweet stuff. i go for amstel malta not because its sugar free but cos its ''low sugar'' and i love malt drink.
I am not crazy about anything i am just careful about what i put into my body,also forget the stamina bravado thing it was true before i discovered 30 day shred,i can only do level 2 and 1 with ''determination''and will power .
