Bigchief46: The Court has decided to stand down the other Appeals and has ordered a break. We will resume by 5.30pm to hear the Appeals by PDP, INEC & possibly the Cross-Appeal by Otti if it is later revisited and the regularization sought is allowed. Till 5.30pm then; but this is an opportunity to go refill your pop-corn & get more iced Coke; the real drama is coming. JUDGMENT IS TODAY Many thanks nwanne. I can now go for my lunch. |

WisdomCanada: I had a dream, last night, the supreme court ruled that the cancelled LGAs must remain canceled, and Otti won, and Ikpeazu refused to vacate seat, the seat was like a very fine car where Ikpeazu was sitting, and some other people inside the car like Abaribe or Eziuche Ubani pleaded him to vacate, that the law must stand, Otti never knew they had something bad in mind, when Otti entered the Car(Government house) his supporters filled the car to congratulate him, Ngwa men and women mobbed the car, Otti was without securities, so the forced the car door open and shot him, the driver and some of his supporters in the car rushed him to a very far hospital that night, the Ngwa clan was happy they have killed Otti, but when Otti was rushed to the hospital, he has already swollen, it was a very local hospital, then the doctor attended to him immediately and he survived.
Moral of this dream(Not interpretation), our Ngwa brothers and PDP supporters in our Abia state shouldn't take their grievances to a severe level if their brother happens to lose at the supreme court, let them remember that their brother is sitting on a stolen mandate.
I had a dream after INEC declared Ikpeazu winner of the last April pools. A chief Judge was driving Otti and Ikpeazu in a car, Ikpeazu sitting in front and Otti at the back, they drove to a destination where the chief Judge ordered Ikpeazu to go over to the back seat while the person entitled to sit at the front (Alex Otti) takes his rightful position. The dream didn't come through at the tribunal but at the appeal court. Did i hear somebody day dreaming? Lol |

1wolex85: you know that is not what the guy is saying. He used oil because he was talking about Nigeria and that is our major source of income coupled with the fact that our economy is not diversified He set oil economy as the premise that dovetailed into his conclusion. Whose duty is it to give policy direction that heralds/midwives the diversified economy? What can we infer from Governments policy direction via the budget? It is a bitter truth that gives every informed Nigerian a nightmare. |
Politics › Re: Buhari Should Beg Ngozi Okonjo Iweala . by modik(m): 7:27am On Jan 25, 2016 |
Kikero112: It was recovering life....because we had the foreign exchange to import the car parts we were assembling in Nigeria.
We have been here before.
During the oil boom years of the 1970's...when oil prices were high.....car companies like Volkswagen, and Peugeot cane and set up assembly plants in Nigeria.Other companies included STEYR,Leyland and Mercedes (Trucks).
They could do tht because......Nigeria had the oil money topay them to import the parts needed to make their cars here in Nigeria cheaply. Add cheap labour (compared to Europe) and Nigeria was making cars by the hundreds.
(This was the time when in 1975....someone could buy a new Volkswagen for less than N2000).
Of course...the Naira was strong because we had enough forex to buffer it.
Then in 1982....oil prices dropped.By 1983....one could get a Peugeot 505 for N13000.
Oil stayed low....and by the mid 1980's it became expensive to import parts to assemble in Nigeria. Ideally....we should have then switched to local sources of raw materials...but we did not have them ready for exploitation because Ajaokuta.......was not complete. (And still is not working.).
By 1991....a Peugeot 505 went for N900000. (Two years earlier....we had devalued the naira). By then....it had become expensive to assemble cars in Nigeria....because thanks to the fall in oil price....we did not have the money to import car parts for assembly.
The same thing....is going to happen to GEJ's car plants....unless we get Ajaokuta sorted. Which PDP failed to do in 16 years!
There is no revolution in Nigeria's automotive industry. We are merely repeating the mistakes of the 1970's and 80's. And to make matters worse....since 1992....Nigeria has been importing lots of second hand cars......draining our little forex even more.(Back in the 1980's a friend of my dad bought a ''Belgium'' car. My dad was like.....Why buy a second hand car when we have good Made in Nigeria cars. Today....even during GEJ'stime....Belgium cars .....aka Tokumbo.....are the new normal).
Buhari should fix Ajaokuta. By implication, are you positing that all thriving economies of the world are oil driven? When shall we Nigerians think outside the box and move away from oil mentality when the world is busy researching and diversifying into alternative sources of energy? |

Kikero112: If we want to get agric working....we have to stop pretending that subsistence farming is the key to agric development.
We need large working mechanised farms to get our agriculture working again.
And key to diversification is education...which got the lion's share of agric budget.
There should be a supplementary increase for agric....but it has to be money well spent....somehow. I am discussing policy here and not education without balancing effect (employment opportunity/employability) which is a topic for another day. Policy first: How many of our agro based factories have a farm in Nigeria by government policy? Who makes the policy that drives that? Don't we have fertile soil for basic industrial crop production? How many primary crop processing plants do we have here? Who makes the policy that drives such investment in Nigeria? I guess you understand where I am going. When government who is not into direct food production gives subsidies to large scale farmers, such subsidies won't be funded via Budgetary provisions? |

Kikero112: Everything points to a faliure of diversification by the last admin among others.And.....it is going to take time to properly diversify. GEJ did not build automotive car plants in eight months. You have stressed the obvious. A journey of a thousand miles start with a stride. You would agree with me that a budget that has diversification in mind as we can see in 2016 submitted and re-submitted budget has addressed just that by placing communication budget over and above agriculture, works etal? GEJ did not build automotive car plant but set in motion a policy framework that brought the plants. Policy drives all. What policy framework so far can you point out that will achieve diversification outside communication? If agriculture is underfunded, where will flour come from? Maybe from communication ministry? |

otokx: Prices will continue to rise in the short run as we consume goods produced abroad. The flour and butter in bread is imported in $$$. We are only reaping what we have sowed. You may wish to change your breakfast to Ogi and Akara which are made in Nigeria. >>we started importing flour last 8 months. >>>General price increase(inflation) for imported goods was mismanaged prior "now" ?? >>>>Somebody who has been employed by Nigerians to manage the Macro/Micro economic policies and indices is busy watching the rear mirror as his chiefest objective while the economy is blasting ahead(negatively) at the speed of light. >>>>>Economy will worsen in the short run because we import, but the budget crafted to address economic diversification allocated a whooping sum to COMMUNICATION more than agriculture and industrialisation put together. >>>>>>We are watching the basis of your long-run economic fortune. Genius100: Guy, you are a big fool. Please shut up and go read up on the policies APC have clearly presented. The same Okonjo-Iweala that the greatest corruption episodes in Nigeria happened under her watch.. Mumu. Is it only Iweala that understands foreign investors? If it is just about proposing policies, Buhari's adminstration has proposed better policies than the Iweala-led GEJ administration.. Can you for once listen to yourself? You have refused to look at economic indices be fore shouting foul. When PMB was taking eternity to set up his cabinet you were clapping for him When he is going around the world telling the whole world that Nigeria is not Safe for investment and broke you were hailing him. Now that the economy has nosedived, you are looking for paper policy that took forever to surface. The other day I went to buy bread and was told that a loaf of N200 last week is now N250, yet you are here hailing his paper policy, including the FOREX policy that sumasulted. "Kwontinuu" fighting corruption, let your economic driver keep looking back through the rear mirror without focusing on the bigger picture in front of him through the windscreen. LRNZH: After all this long write up, I hate to simply tell you to go and learn about commodity prices and how they affect dependent economies.
Ngozi did not diversify the economy under GEJ when the oil price was above $100/barrel for over 4 years, it is at $30/barrel that Buhari will go to beg her to perform magic.
Abeg receive sense. Ngozi did not diversify the economy, yet our Automotive industry is receiving life? Wake up from your delusion!

How many are YOU following?
I cannot believe that my husband andI will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in a few months. It seemslike just yesterday I walked down the aisle in a beautiful beaded gown and flip flops. And yet, it seems like decades ago that we were joined together by God and a band of white gold. It’s really surreal stuff.During these fleeting, yet dragging, years, I’ve discovered that there are some unspoken rules of marriage. Want to hear them? Sure you do.
1. Just nod and agree. You may think that’s the stupidest idea you’ve ever heard, but whatevs. Just nod your pretty little head and hope it works out for him.
2. Never say, “I told you so.” It didn’t work out, did it? Well, don’t say a word. Because love.
3. Know when to shut your trap. You may be a very vocal wife, but know when to keep your lips zipped. Example: While your man is assembling your children’s play set in102 degree heat, he’ll probably misplace some nuts, bolts and his sanity. As the expletives flow from his lips like water, now is not the time to ridicule his ridiculous work method or his lack of using the instructions. Just take him some sweet tea and stay in the shade.
4. Keep your opinions about his family to yourself. If you must recite the Serenity prayer every time you pull into the in-laws driveway, only do it in your head. Never speak it in front of him … while sobbing and clutching a Rosary.
5. Don’t threaten divorce every time something minor happens. He set his glass on the table without a coaster, but there’s no need to draft an itemized list of what you want in the divorce (although you’d let him keep the table with the drink ring). You’re not going anywhere. He’s not going anywhere. Take the lawyer off speed-dial.
6. Don’t share intimate stuff with strangers. Maybe a 30-second commercial lasted longer than last night’s s*x. Maybe he got so drunk he peed in the aquarium. Maybe he lost his job because of some trumped-up public indecency charges. There’s no need to put it on Facebook or tell all of your friends. Respect your man and know when to keep private things, well, private.
7. No cheating (DUH.) You don’t want him petting the Hooter’s waitress. He doesn’t want you petting anything. You know better. Just don’t do it.
8. Never stop celebrating together. Who cares if you’ve spent the last two decades of holidays with the same man? Celebrate them big each time, as if it were the first Christmas, first Valentine’s Day, first birthday. As soon as you stop celebrating together, sparks start to fizzle. Buy him some new Ray-Bans, even though you know he’ll lose them within a month. Okay, a week.
9. Know the correct answer. He should know how to answer, “Am I fat?”, and “Is she prettier?” and “Is my lasagna edible?” And you should know how to answer, “Do you mind if Iwatch football?” Who cares if you really don’t want to watch football? That man ate your lasagna last night. Cut him some slack.
10. Follow the golden rule. It’s quite simple really. Treat him the way you want to be treated, and if he’s a good one, he’ll reciprocate the love and respect. But no matter how often you hold in your farts, he’s never going to hold in his. That’s life. That’s marriage. Accept it.
11. Remember: honeymoons don’t last forever. They just don’t. Marriage takes a lot of hard work once the butterflies die and the excitement dwindles. Love isn’t a feeling. It’s an action. And by action, I don’t mean act all crazy and run away with the UPS guy because your husband skid marked his undies. I guarantee the UPS man has a few marks of his own. It’s a grass isn’t always greener type thing, you know?Enjoy your marriage.
Enjoy each other. Enjoy these unspoken rules. Source : http://www.informationng.com/2016/01/the-11-non-negotiable-unspoken-rules-of-marriage.html

Buhari showed Tompolo a very good example of how to disobey court order. Nigerians shouldn't be surprised at the resultant effects.
Maybe more of such disobedience is still on the way? |
