Paul Washer, The Gospel. The most terrifying truth of Scripture...

This is the message that the body of Christ should be busy preaching instead of the constant bickering and fault finding exercise we get sucked into.

As i can see you tactically answered my question without addressing the key points in it, rest my case modupe
However could you pls tell me how the wedding dress of your GS daughter in law is a sign of conformity with the world?

If I have answered your question then I rest your case as you have requested. The use of make up, see through dresses and other vanities that wasn't reported are examples of conformity to this world.

How do you know it was god that provided the miracle?

For all you know, it could have been satan, the tooth fairy, or ancestral spirits that provided the so-called miracle.

Why so quick to give the credit to god.
How about the disaster itself, who was responsible for allowing it to happen?
I am assuming .........?

It couldn't be satan because he hasn't got any good gift. If what you call mother nature caused the disaster why do you tell your insurance that it is an Act of God?

Its not good at all. Some members of my church do that too. Its too bad. When you believe its only your church people that are holy then you are committing a grievious sin called PRIDE.

This is the problem when people begin to jump to conclusions when there is no reason for it. It is rather a sin to be judgmental when you accuse others falsely.

Who said that its only in my church that people are holy? You are infact guilty of the sin that you are falsely accusing me of.

Lol! at thread.

I believe 'essentials' and 'non-essentials' will depend from person to person or from church to church

God bless you for addressing the main topic unlike those who would like to derail the thread because of their misconceptions about DL.

If you notice the GS was addressing Church traditions in DL which may differ from other churches all of which will not take us to heaven.

The Church tradition in DL would say that they have to tie a scarf instead of a hat, the length of a wedding gown has to be of a certain length, that you cannot officiate in a traditional attire, that the opposite sex are not encouraged to shake hands, or preach to the opposite sex, that church servides are to be conducted on certain days etc. These and many more which are set in place for certain regions in DL may not apply to other churches and are not essentials to the kingdom of God.

sorry to your uttermost disappointment i'm not an extravagant person and its not by any church tradition but simply because i love a simple way of dressing, general life of moderation and moseso i love the the way my G.O Pst Adeboye and his wife dresses, however i didn't say because his wife don't use earrings my wife shouldn't i don't see anything wrong in it, but ironically my fiancee don't use it cos from birth she has no hole in her ear(she isn't a deeper life nor even close to at all).

If you are not worldly but support those who are worldly you are equally committing the same sin. Read what Apostle Paul said about this attitude: "Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them". Rom.1:32

cdoffx:

So was d dress d daughter in law of Papa Kumuyi wearing revealing.
Makeups, my G.O said he didn't see anywhere it was written in d bible not to paint your face and the likes however he realised that the only person recorded doing such in the bible was Jezebel hence it would do you good not to associate with Jezebel. Nice one!

When you begin to study the bible yourself you will come across the place it said the following: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God". Rom.12:1-2

cdoffx:

However i would say let your heart convince you personally since its not an established biblical doctrine but to further disappoint you as to my own personal opinion on it. I don't like ladies who use it maybe cos my mother don't use it and since a little part of you tend to crave for partners who exhibit something you like from your parent. I don't know but its definitely not because my G.O point of view on it since its not a standard biblical doctrine.
What am i trying to tell you. Our G.Os are human being with their different opinions on life issue(i mean non standard biblical doctrine) so having now to always see issues from my G.Os personal opinion is synonymous to me just calling him every morning to tell me how i should spend my day meaning i have no reasoning of my own.

You cannot build your faith on other people's experience or tradition, your faith must rest on the unchanging word of God.

cdoffx:

Finally if you say using makeup is worldliness which i'm sure you'll quickly use my illustration of Jezebel to assert your point then you should also agree with me riding of cars is worldly since Ahab who is Jezebel's husband rode one(royal chariot) and God empowered Elijah to run ahead of him perhaps because God don't want Elijah to partake in the sinful riding of a chariot with the king(NB Jesus rode a colt and not a horse driven chariot which could be likened to motorcycle since he has no covering over his head)should in case you want to refer to that.

What has driving of cars got to do with worldliness unless the only reason you are driving it is to show off your vanity.

The reaction of the world doesn't decide the truth for me. Church tradition, people's experience, self righteousness or imposed righteousness doesn't take us to heaven, faith in the atoning blood of the Lamb does.

though i'm a christian, i respect Pastor Kumuyi and i do attend deeper life fellowship while on campus. I must say you're totally biased and showing outright hypocrity which would not make anyone take you serious.

I take that as a compliment.

cdoffx:

Imagine after someone quoted the wedding dressing of the wife and you called that worldliness while you earlier talked about what we wear or not being non essential. Are you confused?

Church tradition which is not sinful are not essential. Worldly dressing is rather a reflection of what is in your heart. If you love God you will not seek to please men. "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world, If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of lifem, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 Jn 2:15

cdoffx:

From what Papa Kumuyi said in that message there's nothing wrong with what the wife is dressed like according to the bible doctrine but wrong according to the church tradition and since the father in law being a part of the church hence the punishment.

Make up and see through dresses are worldly.

cdoffx:

Now back to you, the dressing conduct of the wife was made mention of and minding the fact that she didn't dress in any revealing dressing, you called it worldliness then i can assume you don't ride in whatsoever type of car, nor use whatsoever type of cream, nor ever wish to travel abroad since that will amount to travelling to the capital of worldliness. Madam you're an hypocrite

Thanks again for the compliment. Whose standard are you using in measuring her dressing conduct, yours?

Okay. You say "The Lord's supper" is an "essential doctrine." Essential doctrine number two.

If I dont receive your symbolic "Lord's supper," but I receive Holy Communion in the Catholic Church (which we call the actual body and blood of Christ), do I believe in Christ?

If you partake in cannibalism you are not partaking in the Lord's Supper. It is definitely not the body of Christ who died once and for all that you are sharing everytime you do this.

So when Peter cut off the ear of the soldier, he didnt believe in God?

Whose example was he following, Jesus?

What has Syncan mentioned that has anything to do with adultery?

Why are you deliberately talking rubbish instead of keeping quiet if you dont have a good answer?

Have you got a clue of what that verse means/? Adultery in that verse means attempting to serve God and the world simultaneously. If for instance, you say that you love your wife and at the same time love another woman outside your matrimonial home could be termed as committing adultery. Saying that you are a friend of God and at the same time a friend of the world makes you an adulterer/adulteress.

italo:

Besides, first, you said there was only one "essential" doctrine. Now you are adding more. You are confused, arent you?

I am not confused you are the one that is not reading before you post. Let me repost the excerpt here in case you missed it:

What I'm just saying is that there are some of these things…we call them non-essentials. When it
comes to essential things - that's the doctrine, that's the Word of God. Jesus is Savior. There's no
other Savior. That's central. But as to the kind of music and the kind of approach and this
tradition and this tradition and the sisters wearing a cap and others wearing a scarf and wearing
this and wearing that…cover your unclothedness. Then let's move on and do the work of God
together.

It says "essential things" is the word of God not things like Church traditions which are "non essentials".

italo:

You said if we just believed in Jesus, Christians can differ on other things. Now I believe in Jesus and I apply make up...and you are still not okay.

For you to access the "essential things" you have to believe in the atoning cleansing blood of the Lord Jesus Christ alone for the salvation of your soul. If after you have done this and you still feel you want to please the world by making up that is between you and God but you should know that you cannot befriend God and the world simultaneously.

Haba, you no know?

1. Style of wedding gown worn by his daughter
2. his daughter's leaving part of her hair visible to prying eyes, even though she wore some covering
3. his daughter's application of visible facial make-up etc.
You may just google about the wedding if you missed it,to find more. The "sins" are numerous yet they all fall under the "non essential" stuff you talk about. The man's daughter wedded Kumuyi's son, and got axed for these "non essential" things.

Will what you listed there above qualify as worldliness or not?

"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God" - James 4:4

As for the reasons why her Dad got suspended you may consult the church authorities for answers. Worldliness is not one of the "non essential" things the OP is talking about.

Jesus said if you dont eat his flesh and drink his blood, you will not have life.

Do you believe this...yes or no?

You are missing the point. Jesus is not inviting us to become cannibals. What He said is the symbolic food and drink represented by His flesh and blood. This is what is called the Lord's supper today, and it is one of the doctrines of Christ we believe and obey after our salvation.

Is it one of your "essential doctrines"...yes or no?

The Lord's supper is an essential doctrine of Christ obeyed by every true believer believer in Jesus Christ.

Is it possible to believe in God and not forgive your neighbour...yes or no?

If you truly believe in God you will forgive your neighbour which is in line of the doctrines of Christ.

Is it possible to believe in God and not love your neighbour...yes or no?

Loving our neighbours as Christ has loved us is the evidence that we truly believe in God.

italo:

So this is the only essential doctrine of Christianity...believing in Jesus to be saved?

Yes. Believing in Jesus is essential to your salvation. Believing in the name of Jesus doesn't only make you a believer but gives you a personality shift or transfer. We are positioned inside what His name represents which is into God's family and its only after then that the teachings of Christ can make be meaningful to you.

italo:

Some "christians" say Jesus is God; some say he is man. You are saying we should just believe in him...it doesnt matter who he is?

italo:

Jesus said those who dont eat his flesh and drink his blood will not have life. You are saying even if we dont eat or drink we have life as long as we believe?

Partaking in holy communion doesn't reposition you into the family of God believing and trusting in Jesus will. For a sinful person to become a child of God, he will have to give his life to Christ and only after this will a miraculous transformation take place.

italo:

Paul said LOVE is greater than Faith and Hope. You are saying love is not even necessary to make heaven, only FAITH?

You cannot love if you haven't received Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour. It is only when you receive the gift of God by faith that you can then love with the love of God.

A WARNING TO ALL PARENTS AND GUARDIANS!

•Warn your daughter never to sit on anyone’s laps no matter the relationship, even uncles.

•Avoid getting dressed in front of your child once he/she is 2years old. Learn to excuse yourself.

•If you have to hire a house-help, kindly take them for HIV screening to determine their status, properly interview them and make up your mind to treat them well. Although does not really encourage this practice.

•Never allow any adult refer to your new born as ‘my wife’ or ‘my husband’.

•Never tempt your husband with your sister or friend or else he’d say it's hers and the devil’s fault.

•Avoid unnecessary familiarity with the opposite sex and make sure you take care of your husband/wife yourself so as not to lead him into temptation.

•Whenever your child goes out to play with friends, make sure you look for a way to find out the kind of play they played together, as young people sexually abuse themselves now.

•Never force your child to visit any adult he/she is not comfortable with and also be observant if your child becomes fond of a particular adult.

•Once a very lively child suddenly becomes withdrawn, you might need to patiently ask a lot of questions.

•If you don’t teach your children about sex, the society will teach them the wrong values and most likely, in very hard ways.

•It's always advisable you go through any new material like cartoons you buy for them before they start seeing it themselves.

•Teach your 3-year-olds how to wash their private parts properly and warn them never to allow anyone, including you, touch those areas. Remember, charity begins at home and with YOU.

•Blacklist all materials you think could threaten the sanity of your child, that is, music, movies and musicians, and let them understand the value of standing out of the crowd.

•Once your child complains about a particular person, don’t keep quiet about it. Take up the case and show you can always defend him/her!

Water baptism and the holy communion are both doctrines of the Bible. However they do not determine whether you get saved or not. The thief on the cross did neither but was saved. If you are saved you will want to obey these doctrines in the bible.

It’s not everyday that someone who has never played piano before suddenly acquires the ability of a virtuoso… but that’s exactly what happened to Derek Amato, after a dive into the swimming pool left him with a severe brain concussion. Derek’s story is profound, and is not easily explained by science. He discovered his unusual new talent when he was inexplicably drawn to a friend’s piano and his fingers instinctively knew just where to go on the keyboard–like someone who had been playing piano for years! Although medical science has a name for his condition, they are at a loss to fully explain how or why it happens. Derek just knows that his life has been inexplicably touched in ways that are a mystery, and feels he has received a gift from God. Hear his beautiful, inspired music in the video below, along with his amazing story.
