Jobs/Vacancies / Re: The Plight Of HND Holders In The Nigerian Labor Market by moemindz: 10:17pm On Aug 25, 2021
Adaorababy:
I can relate to this dehumanizing treatment. The dichotomy does not end in when applying for jobs. Even when you're working in that company. You can't go beyond a step on the ladder as an HND graduate. Many times, HND holders are used as contract staff while their BSC counterparts are permanent staff. Very dehumanizing. However, in all fairness, it's easier to get a job as an HND holder than as a BSc holder because they are subjected to meagre pay and most Nigerian firms follow the use and dump approach.

I started to notice this disparity during NYSC whilst commencing the orientation registration process. I heard something like this. Graduates from Federal universities, form first line., Foreign universities, second line Private university, third line, state university, fourth line, Federal and State polytechnics, be on the 5th line and colleges the 6th line.
That profiling was all shades of wrong on every side. As I was waiting for my category to be called, I remember how my self esteem dropped drastically. Seeing most of the polished in first, second, third and fourth lines and I had to just be on the fifth line. Why The annoying thing is that many people in the 5th and 6th lines looked one kind. Majority of them had natural low self esteem, could not communicate properly, and looked very dull. I felt bad that a bright HND holder like me that graduated with distinction in Banking & Finance could be ridiculed this way. Because of this, throughout my three weeks in camp, I refused to participate in camp activities. Although, it was not difficult to get a job in the financial sector, in fact, I was employed within 4months of completing the NYSC one year program but I could not also watch people that were still in secondary school while I already joined the bank, graduate from the University and become my boss. They had promotions, better career path, were giving cars while my salary remained same for 9years as a contract staff. This was what led to me quitting working in the bank despite my long years of working in the bank and having a PGD and masters and performing excellently well in my designated functions. I was angry that even though, the dichotomy between HND and BSC prevented me from being converted, why wasn't I converted despite furthering and having a masters degree?

School is scam!!! Nigeria is scam!!!

Reading through your post, I could absolutely relate with how it felt especially the NYSC experience. However, how an individual react to those "emotions" is a critical determiner of whether you rise above them or they keep you under. Will you push for more or stay down?.

very heart breaking... sad

she went to Nysc camp, I couldn't reach her after the third day she got there. I tried so many times to connect to her, but all attempts failed.
Finally, her line went through and when i asked her why happened, she confidently told me she gave her phone to someone who needed it urgently.
We talked, laughed and at the end of our conversation, she told me this: Teddy, I am sorry things aren't going as planned before I came here, i am seeing someone else and i really like him so much..

I was speechless and i no cry o but tears dey rust down my eyes..
Then I told her;

Me: Who's this guy?..

Ex: You don't need to know him Teddy, I just want you to know we won't be talking on the phone anymore because he doesn't enjoy me talking to other guys..

Me: Mummy u mean this thing abi na Yahoo format be this?

Ex: Just try and understand, like I told you when we met the first time, I don't like to have anything with my ex-. So, please get someone to love you, i am sure you will be fine in no time. Bye, God bless you.

It was like i was listening to one of John Legend's song until she updated all her social apps dp with the new guy's pic and wrote MY KING..
OH MY GOD.. SIGHHH

Thanks, What is the average transport fair to and fro. Also how is the traffic generally especially towards evening. Thanks

Depends on which part of ikorodu you are coming from, so I can’t estimate the cost of transport from the interiors to ikorodu garage. However, I know from Ikorodu garage to Ojota is about 200 Naira, then to Ikeja say 150.

About traffic, I can’t say for sure.

Apart from some of the behavioral questions others have posted here, I was asked:

-Why assurance? where do you think you fit? (I read bldn)
-Do you have an accounting background? how do you think you would cope?

Really short but intense session.

You don't have an iota of sense of discernment in you. I think I have to stop giving you the cheap attention you seek. You seriously want to make me puke. I'll stop typing now, and I expect that you never quote me anywhere in your entire life again! Continue getting seizures with your simbian phone.

I know what I wrote, you dull lots!

Tactless, as being used in the context I wrote meant - Insensitive. Yes, I'm very insensitive and unemotional when it comes to dropping people in relationships, particularly when you're stagnant and hate growth. I drop you off like a piece of shit. That's me being tactless. Now, I had to put it to that moemindz whatever, he's too sentimental to speak the truth. I expected him to be rational in giving comments, but as usual, you guys will always play the emotional blackmail.

Don't explaining anything to you folks!

Wait oo.

is there a different meaning of "tactless" as used by you?

According to google, Tactless is defined as "having or showing a lack of skill and sensitivity in dealing with others or with difficult issues".

synonyms: insensitive, inconsiderate, thoughtless, unthinking, indelicate, undiplomatic, impolitic, indiscreet, unsubtle, clumsy, heavy-handed, graceless, awkward, unpolished, inept, bungling, maladroit, gauche, undiscerning, unsophisticated;

Mehn!!! you know too much

To read is one thing, to comprehend the whole message written is another thing entirely.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't have bothered to reply you, but your comment is so insensible that I can't look away.

Does 'Sacrifice' only connotes financial gains alone? Why're some folks not so bright at all?
To clear your doubts, it wasn't finance. It was time. Quality time. That's all. I needed nothing else from him.

I hope you are with someone that can sacrifice his head for you now

Mehn!

This is APT.
\
franchasng:
If not for money, financial and material favors, 99% of Nigerian women home and abroad won't marry or date any man!

The most annoying part is the latest bandwagon of Nigerian ladies trying hard to form feminists seeking for equal right, which to me is very good, but where it gets so annoying is in the fact that Nigerian women and black women in general only want to become feminist in order to get highest paid easy jobs, top political positions without stress and best jobs to earn higher income than men but will reject feminism when it requires them to spend equally with their men, how selfish a group can be

You want equal opportunities with men but you hate equal financial responsibilities with men, isn't that mental disorder

I laugh at some guys who feel dating or marrying a Nigerian lady from rich home or a Nigerian lady that's earning big salary will make things better, it even gets worst because to majority of Nigerian women, their man's money/wealth = our money/wealth, but their own money/income = their money that their man dare not talk about or expect a dime from, it is shameful sha oh cry

My advice to every Nigerian young man out there: work hard, add smartness, pray for divine favor and right timing, and forget about getting any favor or financial help from any woman you are going to date or marry....zero your mind, if at the end nature and God throws one outstanding lady that proves you wrong your way, then thank your God but don't expect anything from any woman.

Your highest expectation from women that aren't your mother and sisters and relatives is sex, babies and maybe homekeeping if she is humble enough to offer.

Expect nothing from women so you can have a happy life free of disappointments and heartache undecided
