paulolee:Then why don’t we schedule ours with Euros? |
paulolee:It is not about money or our players doing more. It is the body they call CAF. What stops CAF from shifting the tournament to a more convenient time? This African schedule is causing tensions between players & clubs. What if an in-form player like Mo’ Salah having a blast at Liverpool goes to the Nations Cup and get injured for a lengthy period what will happen to his career? Or Mahrez or Mane? CAF should try and understand. Nobody will die if they reschedule to a convenient time. My opinion! |
Manchester city sure win! |
mogpet:There was a time Eyinmba football club was a dominant side. Right now they are nowhere near African football |

The Scout highlights the Fantasy picks at risk of missing matches in the coming Gameweeks During the busy festive period, Fantasy Premier League managers must take into account not only rotation but the absence of players in their squads through suspension. Any player earning five bookings from their side's first 19 Premier League matches will serve a one-match ban in the same competition. Yellow cards are not carried over to the EFL Cup or FA Cup. Players who accumulate 10 yellow cards in Premier League matches up to and including their team's 32nd fixture will serve a two-match suspension in the competition. Players completing bans Yves Bissouma (£4.4m) sat out Brighton & Hove Albion's 2-0 win over Brentford following his fifth yellow card of the campaign. He is available for the trip to Chelsea. Isaac Hayden (£4.5m) was kept out of Newcastle United's 1-1 draw with Manchester United after he too picked up five yellows. Having completed his ban, he's an option to face Everton on Thursday. Seven players are suspended for upcoming matches. Players suspended Player Club Next available Christian Norgaard BRE GW21 Wilfried Zaha CRY GW21 Bruno Fernandes MUN GW21 Javier Manquillo NEW GW21 Declan Rice WHU GW21 Andrew Robertson LIV GW22 Tyrone Mings AVL GW22 Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m) was one of five players to collect their fifth booking in Gameweek 19 and will miss the visit of Burnley to Old Trafford. Joining Fernandes on the sidelines after reaching the suspension threshold are Tyrone Mings (£5.0m), Javier Manquillo (£3.9m), Declan Rice (£5.1m) and Christian Norgaard (£5.0m). Wilfried Zaha (£6.8m) was sent off for receiving two cautions in Crystal Palace's 3-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur. He misses the home match against Norwich City. Andrew Robertson (£7.1m) serves the second of his three-match ban after his red card in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Spurs in Gameweek 18. He will be absent for the trip to Leicester City and the subsequent encounter with Chelsea. Walking a tightrope Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle each played their 19th match in Gameweek 19 so owners of Reece James (£6.4m), Bernardo Silva (£7.6m), Ruben Dias (£6.2m) and Callum Wilson (£7.4m) can breathe a sigh of relief, with these players all avoiding a fifth booking and the prospect of a ban. However, Raphinha (£6.5m) is among those still at risk. Along with 31 others, the Brazilian is one booking away from a suspension. Spurs and Watford will reach that point in Gameweek 22, and Burnley will do so in Gameweek 23. |

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was off the mark once more when his side hosted city rivals Atletico Madrid in Sunday night's local derby. The 33-year-old Frenchman sparked wild celebrations throughout the Santiago Bernabeu and on social media as well with yet another collector's item of a goal. Benzema injured his hamstring a week ago and, as a result, missed this mid-week's Champions League showdown against Inter Milan. He was initially a doubt for the encounter with their local rivals but ended up featuring in the starting lineup with his side being shorthanded in the attack. Having shown a lot of promise with his movement and passes earlier, the Real Madrid No.9's big moment eventually arrived in the 16th minute. Just as it has been the case for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season, the Frenchman and Vinicius Jr featured in a well-worked attacking move which resulted in the former smashing home a volley with the Brazilian's cross. With the strike, Benzema took his tally in all competitions for this calendar year to 36, surpassing his haul for his best scoring year in his Real Madrid career (35 goals in 2019). On the contrary, Vinícius Júnior now has 18 goal involvements this season following his assist to Karim Benzema (12 goals and six assists) in 23 apps for Real Madrid in 2021/22. His contribution this season is as many as he had in 87 apps in previous two seasons combined. As the saying goes “the older the wine, the sweeter the taste” a special player as he gets older.

A number of people at the club tested positive for the virus on Sunday morning. A number of players and staff returned postive lateral flow tests on Sunday morning and were sent home from training. There are now fears the outbreak could spread even further, putting Tuesday's Premier League trip to Brentford in serious doubt. The whole group who travelled to Norwich on Saturday tested negative in the latest round of routine tests. However a fresh round of lateral flow testing on Sunday morning returned a small number of postive tests among players and staff. Those who had tested positive were subsequently sent home, with the Premier League informed of the situation. Those who remained outdoors with the training schedule adjusted to individual and non-contact sessions. What happens next? The next step for the players and staff who tested positive on Sunday morning is to wait for the results of PCR tests.

Max Verstappen is your 2021 Formula 1 world champion. It wasn't without drama, excitement, controversy and strategy: In the end, it came down to the final lap after a controversial restart following a wreck in the late stages of the race. The final race of the season came down to the final lap: After a safety car held the race to one final racing lap, Verstappen and fresher tires held off Mercedes and Hamilton's hard tires, taking the lead and the championship. Congratulations Max
