~ Wedding Dresses: The One For You ~

SHORTER BRIDES

A petite bride should steer carefully through the sea of over-the-top bridal designs that threaten to overwhelm her small frame.

A tea-length wedding dress – or knee-length wedding dress – can look stunning on a shorter bride and is a good way to avoid looking as if you are swamped by a giant meringue.

An empire-line wedding dress – a style with a seam under the bust line – is a romantic, flowing choice that can help even out proportions and give the illusion of height.

Avoid slim, straight styles, and overly full or elaborate skirts.

LARGER BRIDES
By choosing designs that flatter their curves and hide their least-favourite bits, larger brides can look breathtaking.

As with all shapes and sizes, there is no substitute for trying on many different styles of dress to see which works best for you.

Simple designs are usually best, and needn’t be boring!

Sheer fabrics can be a pretty way to provide extra coverage of your arms or upper body without adding bulk. They can be used as part of the dress itself or to make a separate shawl or beautiful ‘coat’.

Avoid NOTHING, unless you’ve tried it on and are certain it’s not for you!! Larger-sized brides will each have their own body shape, so it’s worth trying a range of different-style dresses before ruling anything out.

BOYISH FIGURE
It’s more straightforward than you might think to add shape to a straight-up-and-down figure.

A full-skirted wedding dress can give the illusion of a well-defined waist, but beware: it can also make your bust look smaller.

A crumb-catcher neckline is a simple layered effect that adds interest at the bustline – a good way to add definition if you’re small up top.

A two-piece ensemble (corset and skirt) can be more flattering than a one-piece dress when it comes to breaking up the straight lines of a boyish figure.

Avoid very straight or ‘column’ styles.

PEAR-SHAPED FIGURE
The combination of narrow shoulders and broad hips can be cleverly balanced out with the right choice of dress.

A two-piece wedding dress can be a winner when trying to balance the look of a pear-shaped figure.

A princess-line wedding dress or skirt is a flattering option. It’s similar to an A-line design (also flattering to most figures) but has no seam at the waist, so avoids drawing attention where it’s not wanted!

A detailed bodice can draw attention away from broader hips. Combine it with a simple A-line or princess-line skirt for best results.

Avoid straight or bias-cut designs, or styles that are gathered at the waist or on the hips. Halterneck designs are also unflattering to pear-shaped figures.

HOURGLASS FIGURE
This body shape is characterised by a well-defined waistline, often accompanied by a full bust and hips which are in proportion to each other. Think Marilyn Monroe and you’ll get the idea.

A strapless wedding dress can look fantastic on a shapely figure… Just make sure your bust has the necessary support!

A low-cut neckline is flattering to a full bust – as long as it’s within the bounds of decency, of course! Off-the-shoulder styles fall into the right category, and are well worth a try.

Avoid gathered or pleated skirts, which can add bulk around the hips. Bias-cut or otherwise clingy designs should also be approached with caution as they accentuate the parts you might prefer to skim over. High necklines can be unflattering to larger busts. And to make the most of your curves, go for a one-piece dress as opposed to a two-piece.

Four Popular Dress Cuts
1. A-line. An A-line wedding dress is one of the most popular shapes, flattering most figures and giving a neat, up-to-the-minute look. When the skirt is kept slim, an A-line wedding dress can highlight the top half of your body and detract from the lower half.

2. Princess line. This has the same general shape as the A-line but without a seam at the waist. This gives a long, unbroken line that is very flattering to most figures. The skirt begins to flare just below the bride’s natural waist, which can help disguise a heavier bottom.

3. Empire line. With its seam just under the bustline and a long, straight-ish skirt, the empire line is straight out of a Jane Austen novel. The fact that the skirt starts so much higher than waist level creates an illusion of height, which makes it an ideal cut for petite brides.

4. Full skirt. This is the classic ‘fairytale bride’ look, giving a traditionally romantic silhouette but one that does not suit every bride

~Beauty Countdown ~

6 months to go

•Really start to concentrate on nourishing your skin by eating well and drinking plenty of water.
•Cleanse tone and moisturise and try to get into the routine of having a professional facial once per month to help.
•Swap caffeinated coffee and tea for decaffeinated varieties and cut down on fizzy drinks.
•Get plenty of beauty sleep and start to collect ideas for hair styles and makeup.
•Avoid stress and improve your health by exercising regularly. Try to include a relaxing form of exercise as part of your routine i.e. pilates classes, evening walks, yoga sessions etc.

3 months to go

•Continue with the good habits listed above. You should already be reaping the benefits!
•You should now have more of an idea how you would like your hair and make up to look on the day. Start to experiment with different hair styles and talk to you stylist about booking a trial.
•Try different make up colours and visit in store beauty departments to try out new products.
•If you are going to get a fake tan for your big day try out different false tanning treatments at your beauty salon to get the desired effect without last minute panics.
•Try having your eyebrows done professionally, it could make a big difference.
•If you are going to get your hair/make up done by someone on the day, start to look for a good supplier and book trials.
•Get into the habit of regularly applying hand cream and coat nails with strengthening varnish.

1 month to go

•Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure.
•Book in final beauty treatments and appointments for the big day ahead now so that you avoid last minute problems.
•Regularly exfoliate the body with an all over body scrub followed with lashings of moisturiser.
•Stay relaxed - put some time aside for a warm bath or gentle stroll to help clear your mind and keep stress at bay.
•Avoid drinking alcohol to help keep the skin clear and fresh.
•Speak to your beauty therapist about how long to leave after your last facial before the big day. You don't want any post-facial breakouts the day before the wedding.

1 week to go

•You should have already booked your final appointments for eyebrow reshaping, facials, hair removal, manicures, hair and make up etc.
•Most important - aim at relieving stress by listening to calming music. Try aromatherapy to help relieve tension.

1 day to go

•Avoid alcohol and keep drinking the water to keep the skin clear.
•Set out anything you need for the following day and then RELAX on the day!!
•Start the day by relaxing in the bath.
•Avoid pre wedding drinks and stay off the caffeine.
•Stick to your hair and make up plan. Last minute impulsive changes can be disastrous.
•Most importantly, relax and enjoy your wedding day. Good Luck!

Choosing Wedding Jewellery

When choosing your wedding jewellery it helps to consider the following points:

Wedding Dress Neckline
Consider the neckline of your dress. Strapless dresses usually suit a rounder shaped wedding necklace whereas a dress with a V-shape looks good with pearl pendants and wedding necklaces that include a drop.

Detailing
Does your wedding dress include any beaded detailing? Try to match the detail of your wedding jewellery to any detailing included on your dress. For example if your dress has crystal beading it is best to try and include this in your wedding jewellery.

It is also worth thinking about the types of hair decorations you will be wearing, these should ideally match your wedding jewellery as well.

Colour Matching
Be sure the colour of your beads match best with your gown.

Overall look
If you want to keep your look simple you may decide to just wear one piece of wedding jewellery, as well as the ring you'll getting at the alter! In this case consider how much the piece will show up and if it balances with any hair decorations etc.

Fashion › Re: Cristiano Ronaldo's Fashion Sense Under The Spotlight! by mohawkchic(f): 2:19am On Jun 23, 2009
~ grin I'll let him explain to you In his own words . . .

"I Love Wearing Tight Trunks, Pink Flowers", Says Cristiano Ronaldo!! Star defends his fashion sense. . . .

"Cristiano Ronaldo is, in his own words, probably the sharpest dresser in showbiz and, of course, the football world. Good looks and plenty of confidence, as well as not being afraid of what other people might think, have given the star the right to say he can wear pink and even put flowers in his hair if that’s what he wants, as a new piece in The Sun reveals.

As most of us already know by now, Ronaldo has often been criticized for his choice of outfits, which have even been deemed so off the wall that not even the eccentric Elton John would dare don. However, perhaps this is what Cristiano wants in the first place, he says in a recent interview in which the question of why he chose to wear a pink cap and flower, matched to a pair of the shortest and tightest white shorts ever while on vacation a couple of days ago also popped up. The answer is simple: for one, because he can and looks good as he does and, secondly, because he aims to be different.

“I don’t know why people are so interested in what I wear on holiday.” Ronaldo is quoted as saying. At the same time, while people pay a lot of attention to his outfits, they’re also oblivious to the fact that, of the lot, he’s probably the smartest dresser. “Have you seen what people in LA wear? I was the most normal dressed person over there. Anyway, what’s wrong with wearing tight pants? They look good and it’s better than having tan lines down your legs.” Ronaldo says.

As for choosing a pink hat and matching flower while taking in the Sun while on the recent holiday, there is clearly nothing wrong with that, and only a man with not enough confidence in himself would say otherwise, the football star believes. As far as he is concerned, having the confidence and the body to pull off any look literally gives him the right to be as outrageous as he wants to be – after all, he is the best dressed man around, as he revealed in an older interview.

“This year it was the pink hat with the flower. I don’t see what is wrong with it. I can see why […] you might not wear it. But I’m very comfortable so it’s not a problem for me. Men wear pink these days. OK, not many men wear flowers, but it’s good to be different.” Ronaldo says. “Am I the best dresser at Manchester United? Yes, I would like to think I am.” the football star exclaimed a while back."
