You did the right thing, better safe than sorry, the truth will eventually be obvious at POE and you don't want stories.
Father in law offer is a no-no except he is the sponsor.
I think the issue was with the transfer, lump sum is always a red flag. You need to explain at your next appointment but make it simple.
I think liquidating your FD and investments makes it simple for them to understand the funds are available.

daxx:
Hello everyone. I had my interview recently and I was denied. The VO assumed we didn’t have enough funds to cover the trip as DH transferred the money to my account. ( I used my salary account statement which showed my then salary of 186k. I say then because it is now slightly above 200k.) She also didn’t bother to look at my money market statement which also had some funds in it. I want to reapply but I want to clarify a few things.

1. I transferred the money back to DH’s account as I want to carry his statement in addition to mine this time around. We will also be liquidating our fixed deposit and investment accounts to show we can cover the expenses. Would this put us in a better position?

2. My father in law has also offered to give me his boa statement and his dom acct statement as neither I nor DH have any. Is it wise to take up this offer or will it spoil my chances?

Everybody seems to be blaming me for telling the truth and applying for a medical visa as they believed I would have gotten the visa if I had said I was only visiting because I don’t have an obvious belly.

I'm also interested in NJ hospital. My brother actuallt lives in Longisland Newyoyrk, but NJ Hospital close to his place will do me real good. Tnx

Newark hospitals aren't too far from New York and they're cheaper, however in case of a labour that progresses fast, you need to be able to get to the hospital quickly. I used St Peters and it's not close to NY at all.

I used Newark and it's OK, just be honest and confident, they din't stress me.
Taxi to New York is available as you exit.

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how easy Newark POE is? A friend is talking about possibly getting a cheap ticket to Newark instead of New York and I need to be sure I won't have too much stress when passing through CBP at Newark. I can't sacrifice successful entry for cheap ticket. Pls help me so I can decide, time don dey go... Na gode!

The Nigerian passport.

Rickybel:

The US passport or the Nigerian passport?
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by MommaT: 10:56pm On Jul 21, 2016
I'm not sure what the process for visa issuance is, as I dint bother with visa, I got the passport.

Rickybel:
@MommaT What's the process involved in getting a Nigerian Visa for a baby after collecting the American passport? A friend needs to know cos she's in Chicago and will be exiting the US with her baby in 2 weeks time.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by MommaT: 3:06am On Jul 20, 2016
Myself, mum and LO returned to Nigeria last night, we give God ALL the glory. I'm grateful for the info gathered here, God bless every contributor and it is in the light of this that I am sharing my experience as well. I had some issues with BC which necessitated an ammendent, so I dint get it back till about 2 weeks to my return date.
I applied for both passports at New York and it wasn't too stressful, I received naija passport same day and US passport next day.
For US passport i paid $165 while naija passport was $107 (77 for passport and 30 for processing) .
Naija passport - I did not have to post money order to Innovate1, the payment page was printed after associating the money order, so if you are pressed for time, want to save cost on ETC, and close to the 3 states that issue, I would go for the passport, just follow the instructions on the site.
US passport- so I found that you could do walk in when you are very close to your travel date and have no appointment that fits into your travel date, but be ready for a looooong queue outside! Even with my appointment, I waited 2 hours before I was seen ie after getting in to the interview room.
Then we encountered an unusual favour on our return, God was at work.
I purchased an infant lap ticket at the airport for $63.40 through Delta altho I booked my flight on Airfrance but it was a code share flight. This took very long though as the lady had to call to book it.
We also got bassinet seat in Economy comfort without paying a cent, I think that was their only bassinet seat.

Thanks, I'll keep trying to see if any cancellations Open up a nearer date.

Ajujuju2:

They should accept a walk in if you can proove that the date available at booking is too far because of travel date or the need to get a visa on d passport.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by MommaT: 4:02am On Jul 01, 2016
Lol thank you but this was asked in respect of passport issuance.

[

quote author=Vlesparza post=47088222]

Most places in the US do not accept "walk ins". Do yourself a favor and confirm your appointment (BEFORE YOUR TRIP) for the day after you arrive so that your doctor can evaluate your pregnancy after your long trip. You are putting your health is unnecessary risk by not having an appointment upon arrival. Call another doctor and another until you get an appointment. Should you arrive with no appointment and you begin labour or have an emergency before you a doctor sees you, you will be taken to the hospital and your bill will be VERY different from the prices mentioned in this forum because (1) you do not have a doctor (2) you probably dont have a hospital either since each doctor has privileges at specific hospitals and if you dont have a doctor, it means you also dont know where your child will be born. If a hospital package is not paid before you have your baby and are admitted by emergency it is VERY unlikely that you will get the price package for self paying patients.

Thank you, Ajujuju2
I'm going to NY and I've called to book an appointment, but the date available is too far for me, I don't think they accept walk in, do you know?

Ajujuju2:

Passport office downtown.
However they will only attend to you if u hav a flight in less dan 2wks. Plus u need to book an appointment and go with proof.

Not all states have one, so u will need to goggle your state or the nearest one. Same fees apply
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by MommaT: 6:23pm On Jun 28, 2016
Please how did you get US passport in 48 hours o, where did you apply? Did they ask you to pay for express delivery asides the $65 expedited fee?

Ajujuju2:
Ok lemme borrow the famous Nairaland quote:
"In the spirit of giving back..." grin grin grin grin

So my 2nd missionary journey is over and was successfully completed in 8weeks.

Left naija @ 33.5 weeks on an AF flight through Paris to Houston. POE was smooth; less than 3mins with no 2ndry inspection and at agric, met an aggrieved Akata but i done waka pass.

Used Dr.Dama Ziworitin, who was exceptional and quiet endearing. Gave birth at 39.4 weeks, B.C was gotten in 3days, US passport in 48hrs, ETC in 3days. Basically was dne with documentation in 1 week. Left for naija with baby @ 3wks.

Fees and charges ($)
2655 - doc (plus tests)
3500 - hosp (Oakbend)
150 - scan (Oakbend)
950 - epidural (US Partners)
555 - nics + hearing test (NICS)
86.40 - labs (Brown and Associates) mom and baby
100 - external paediatrician (post discharge)

165 - US passport
320 - E.T.C
14 - babys passort picture
23 - B.C

198.40 - AF baby ticket

Circumcision...done here in naija!

I sign out, grateful for it to be over with all ds dollar madness

I think it's better to buy seats. My nephew was given issues on his return leg in March because they said he looks like a 2yr old, they had to show them his birth certificate.

Miracletwinee:
@temyb. Good to know that the babies are doing great. I sent you an email please respond accordingly
Please advice me ooo. I need to renew my visa can I do drop box and wait to be called for an interview or should I just apply and go for interview since I know I might be called for one. We are having a family vacation and the twins will clock 2 while we are away can they be attached to adult on the return leg or they will be expected to buy a seat

Lol @ chop $500 food for breakfast grin
If your hotel accomodation is bread and breakfast, it would say so, otherwise you should get meal ticket.
I flew them to China in 2014, i think 7 or 8 hour layover; we were given meal tickets, one covered dinner and the other breakfast although they dint give hotel accommodation , we were denied just because of this green pali, Nigerians were usually refused then.

9308]Who has used to Qatar and slept over in Doha?
Can you go eat at a buffet in the morning? kiss
There's is a layover of 8hrs 30 minutes and they only give meal ticket if layover is over 11 hours.
They gave hotel accommodation via email sent to me but I wanted to know since we there sleeping over and waking up in d morning can I go for free breakfast?
Getting to Doha 11.30pm and departing 8.15am for Baltimore.
Anyone used Qatar airways before?
Please her make person no go shop 500$ food for breakfast cheesy

I think all is on track, the B1/B2 covers both categories, there is no separate B2 visa, I did same and was issued B1/B2 , it is just good for clarification that you declared you are are going to birth.

Please how much was the Air France infant ticket?
And did you get a bassinet?

Ajujuju2:

Absolutely agree at d highlighted.

So i flew AF and was lamenting at d 10kg baby check-in lugagge but alas on d day of my trip: Grace! Not only was my baby luggage extremely overweight and checked in free, I was also able to pay a much cheaper ticket fare for baby at d airport than I had alrdy attempted to pay with card over the phone.

Sometimes we need to worry less and trust God more. His ways are not ours.

To God be ALL the Glory...My baby arrived 4th June.I used St Peters in NJ, good hospital I must say.
VD Bill was 7754, (baby-2136, mom 5618), docs fees was 3000.
Hospital accepts cash, cheque or card, no wire transfers.
She had a bit of jaundice on the high side, so was readmitted, waiting for the bill for that, Lord have mercy!
Just one bilirubin test cost me $180 and we had about 5 or more while on admission.

Even though I understand your situation but please let her travel for vacation first even if it's via Arik to NY for 1 week and come back.
All the best.

My exact thoughts, please let her go on one trip before birth to avoid stories that touch...if she ends up being turned back, the flight ticket would end up as a waste so why not invest in this one trip to avoid issues later. She could even use the opportunity to visit/call hospitals and OB/GYN

I'd actually advise oriental flavour (very nice) cos onion flavour is still onion-chicken. My colleague's own was seized. But the thing is quite scarce. You'll find at Spar in Lagos or any online store line supermartng and co

Thank you....my sister too said there was some other flavour but checked 3 stores and none had it, but thank God no issues with the onion.

I think it depends on d poe n d person checking. My noodles were collected at atl cos he (at agriculture check) said even though it ws nt written on d pack, it ws part of d ingredients. I ws so shocked, n he went ahead to show me chicken written as part of d ingredients.

Yes I think it depends, mum got through with them scanning the bags and nothing was seized.
