AjanleKoko: Hypocrisy is the real religion of the modern world.
Just look at all these responses. Everybody is jumping on the bandwagon, high-fiving each other and the OP because they want to be rich.
It takes a lot more than mere words to be rich. And I'm sorry to burst your bubble and say, a great number of posters obviously have little or no view into the money-making dynamic.

If the guy who wrote this blog decided to publish it in a book, all of you would rush to buy it, because you want to be rich. However, you'd have succeeded in only making the author rich. If you want to be rich, get off your behinds, get out there and hustle. Riches is little beyond consistency, creativity, and the x-factor. All three usually work together to make a person money. It has nothing to do with mentality.

Some people are even quoting the Bible. Why then do we have mostly agnostics/atheists as the world's richest people? Riches have little to do with what church you attend, or what mosque you pray at. Stop deceiving yourselves.

Last parting shot: Consider that you're all here on Nairaland, generating comments and making Seun rich!
Jah Bless u..

topsywest: Thanks but i refuse to join issues with you. The best way to kill an argument is to label the other party insane. If you have better points why don't you state them instead of trying to attack my person?

Take a look at this:

The 2012 budget is a total of 4.7trillion at $70 dollars per barrel of crud oil as the bench mark. Today, crude oil is sold at $113 an excess of $43 which is about 50% increase in the estimated price of $70. The implication is that there is an excess of revenue accrued to the nation. this is apart from the additional barrel explored per day. Femi Falana made this calculation earlier this year and no one has disputed the figure as it came from the government.

1. Crude Oil production/day - 2.5M barrels
2. Current Price = $113/barrel
3. Daily Sales = 2.5M x 113 = $282.5million
4. Monthly Sales = 282.5M x 30days = $8.475billion
5. Yearly Sales = $8.475billion x 12 = $101.7billion
6. Naira Equivalent = 101.7billion x #160 = 16.272trillion naira per year.
7. Nigeria's budget for 2012 = 4.5trillion naira.

As at today, we are running on debt and GEJ led government is still toying with the idea of borrowing more with tacit endorsement from IMF and recommendation from Iweala.

See why I said your task master GEJ should resign rather than impoverish us in the midst of plenty? After reading all these, If you still maintain your current state of thinking, then i weep for your future generation.
Don't expect his state of thinking to change, because just like Abati, his mind is blocked from common reasoning by money.....

REVOLUTNIS: Ogoni Declares "Self-Government"
Posted: August 3, 2012 - 02:02
Ogoni Flag
By Dr. Goodluck Diigbo/Tambari Deekor

“We are acting with legitimacy to reclaim all of our rights, without exception,” says Goodluck Diigbo

Jubilations are continuing throughout Ogoniland after the Ogoni people in southern Nigeria, today, Thursday, 2nd of August declared political autonomy.

In a live broadcast on a newly established radio station: Voice of Ogoni, MOSOP President/Spokesman, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo vowed that:“By this declaration of political autonomy, we, the Ogoni people are determined to enforce the United Nations Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples, without fear or retreat,” Diigbo said.

Diigbo affirmed that self-government within Nigeria will secure for the Ogoni people, their indigenous rights, enable them to meet their needs and interests and finally end internal colonialism.

Diigbo said self-government became urgent recognizing the need to arrive at a consensus to collectively review the disputed UNEP Ogoniland Oil Assessment report, because any dialogue must be with the genuinely elected representatives of the people expected to enforce indigenous rights without dictation.

In the broadcast, Diigbo further underscored the reason for the urgency of self-government for Ogoni: “Concerned that in the absence of a responsive government that the indigenous people of Ogoni will continue to suffer from historic injustices.”

Diigbo stated: “In order to make indigenous rights practicable in Ogoni, we have through a very transparent electoral college process, beginning with community by community elections, set up 272 village councils, while the village councils in turn elected representatives for 33 district councils and the district representatives went on to elect representatives to serve at the center as custodians of customs and traditions, otherwise called lawmakers.”

“The law makers in turn elected the executive arm of the Ogoni Central Indigenous Authority (OCIA) with checks and balances inbuilt to ensure corruption-free, effective, efficient and answerable system of grassroots self-government instead of the old, corrupt and mismanaged local government system endured by the Ogoni for decades,” Diigbo explained.

“In taking these measures, we are quite aware of the discomfort to about 56 local politicians that control local government politics in Ogoni, however, we care more about the 1.2 million people that have for too long been excluded,” he stated.

He announced that a Transitional Committee was already set up to facilitate dialogue to ensure peaceful transition, within 30 days, while consultation with the national government and international community begins without delay.

Diigbo emphasized the need for Ogonis to remain law-abiding and act nonviolently; saying “we are acting with legitimacy to reclaim all of our rights, without exception, and for the sake of peace and security; let no one test the collective will of the Ogoni people, because we will not surrender our indigenous rights anymore.”

Excerpts:

In 1990, we the people of Ogoni presented the Ogoni Bill of Rights to the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in which the Ogoni nonviolently demanded among other indigenous rights:

· Political autonomy to participate in the affairs of the Republic as a distinct and separate indigenous unit (by whatever name called), provided that this autonomy guarantees political control of Ogoni affairs by Ogoni people; The right to control and use a fair proportion of Ogoni economic resources for Ogoni development; adequate representations, as of right, in all Nigerian national institutions, and the right to protect the Ogoni environment and ecology from further degradation as recognized under international law to which Nigeria is obligated.

Nigeria, a multi-ethnic nation state, a legacy of the British colonial administration, granted political independence October 1, 1960, after the British violated Ogoni independence in 1901, did not respond to the Ogoni, inhabiting their ancestral land in southern Nigeria.

When in the struggle for indigenous political autonomy; especially, in matters concerning confiscation of sacred ancestral lands for oil production without prior informed consent, there comes a moment to assert powers derived from the consent of the people and Nature’s blessings in order to protect, preserve and pass on inherited sacred ancestral heritage to succeeding indigenous generations. On behalf of the entire Ogoni people, I am highly honored to present these issues surrounding the proposed Ogoni Declaration of Political Autonomy.

Part of Full Text

30. That despite the fact that the “Nigerian Constitution” and other laws and policies provide for a local government system, in reality, the local government constitutional provisions meant to extend the principle of Federalism to its logical conclusion, by bringing the government to the grassroots level, do not apply in Ogoniland as a result of corruption and public deception by local and state political actors and the lack of enforcement of the shaky “Nigerian constitution” by the federal government;

31. That, this is because quite often local governments are frequently dissolved in Ogoniland without any explanation rendered to the Ogoni people;

32. That, essential appointments into local government service are often suspended for several years without information to the Ogoni people about the reason for such suspension, when the local authorities still operate budgetary provisions for needed manpower;

33. That the elected representatives who have supported this proposed declaration of political autonomy for the Ogoni people as they have bitterly complained that the present system of local government in Nigeria does not allow them the freedom to govern according to the wishes of the people;

34. That individual local government chairman has to remit monthly allowances in substantial amounts to those politicians at the state and national levels that put them into office;

35. That since local government operators are often imposed on the people, they, the local operators are required to compensate for the way they are often put into office through massive and violent rigging of elections;

36. That in the circumstance, the local operators, expected to respond to yearnings of their grassroots constituencies have become perpetually vulnerable to threats of illegal removal from office without reference to the electorate;

37. That, we the Ogoni people take very serious, the complaint by the Ogoni local officials that have confessed that they still hold office because they are able to settle their political godfathers, meaning political stalwarts that planted them as conduit pipe for siphoning funds meant to help in the development of Ogoni villages and wellbeing of Ogonis;

38. That the application indigenous rights will end this manner of abuse of power and mismanagement of public resources as the representatives of the people have been duly elected by the people in Ogoni, and controlled by the people and to end the system whereby politicians handpicked by political operators at the national and state levels, remain in office without accountability to the people as long as they satisfy those who put them into office.

39. That the local government employees, some in service for over 30 years cannot even afford a good meal with their families, but have seen politicians that come into the local councils buying houses in Port Harcourt and Abuja, even in overseas countries within six months in office.

40. That we believe that the Ogoni people are equal to all other Nigerians that now lord it over the Ogoni by means of indirect internal colonial rule through the corrupt local government system, which violates indigenous rights of the Ogoni people.

Concluding Declaration:

“Now, therefore, acting on the General Assembly mandate on the questions relating to the Political Autonomy of Ogoni in southern Nigeria, and in the spirit of the General Assembly motion DPA/001/2012, and its resolutions DPA/002/2012 and DPA/003/2012 adopted and approved on July 31, 2012; in accordance with the wishes of the Ogoni people contained in the Ogoni Bill of Rights of 26 August, 1990 as revised on the 26th of August 1991; expressing the collective will of the good people of Ogoni in the referendum of 2010 and the second referendum of 2011, obeying the command by the Ogoni people and their elected representatives from 33 district councils, comprising over 272 village councils, living in the six kingdoms of Ogoni, namely: Babbe, Eleme, Gokana, Kenkhana, Nyokhana and Tai and two administrative units: Ban Goi and the Bori National Territory; conducting this solemn affair in accordance with the United Nations Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples adopted by United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 13, 2007, guided by the purposes and principles of international law in accordance with the United Nations Charter, I, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo, hereby make this historic statement, to announce the proclamation of this General Assembly Declaration of Political Autonomy for the Self-determination or Self-government of the Ogoni people within Nigeria, today, the 2nd Day of August, 2012. So declared, and so be it; for the advancement of liberty in freedom and the preservation of the ancestral heritage of the Ogoni people.”

Thank you.

Christianity EtcMy Church Is Bigger!!! by monami2abd(op): 3:51pm On Aug 05, 2012
Hi House,

For your reading pleasure..

By Femi Aribisala
The popularity of a church is
eloquent testimony of failure and
not of success.
They contradict the counsel of the Lord
without batting their eyelids. They
plant church parishes like
supermarkets in every street-corner.
They build cathedrals and church
monuments like World Trade Centres,
each one striving to be the biggest and
most splendiferous in the universe.
They gather thousands, even millions,
of “worshippers” in front of television-
cameras every so often on the
mountains of Kilimanjaro. They are the
new spiritual superstars; the mega-
pastors of the mega-churches.
In this conceit, my former church,
Redeemed, takes the cake. While
Redeemed’s emphasis on branch-
networking and exponential growth
might be a wonderful policy for a fast-
food chain, as a framework for a
Christian organisation, it has tended to
produce half-baked pastors who exhibit
flagrant disregard for godly propriety.
Carnal growth
In the world today, success in
“churchianity” is measured by the size
of the congregation and not by
changed lives. Accordingly, highfalutin
mega-pastors have fine-tuned church-
growth strategies. It’s all a question of
numbers, numbers and more numbers.
Numbers determine how much money
is fleeced from the flock. Numbers
determine the extent of pastoral
control and captivity of men. When
pastors meet, the unspoken question is
“how big is your church?” The answer
determines social status. Like
Mordecai to Haman, the mini-pastors
are required to bow down to the mega-
pastors.
Men like Pastor Sunday Adelaja of
Embassy of God Church, Kiev, Ukraine
even maintain God gave them the
specific mandate to establish mega-
churches. Adelaja claims God told him:
“I am about to raise up a mega-church
in Europe, at this end time and I am
calling people who will establish those
churches. Some people have already
responded to my call. Your destiny and
that of millions of other people depend
on whether or not you will obey me.
The primary assignment is to raise up a
mega-church.”
However, God does not raise up
churches: he has only one church. He
does not ask men to build churches for
him. Jesus says: “I will build my
church.” (Matthew 16:18). Moreover,
God despises what men esteem. (Luke
16:15). Therefore, he generally prefers
the mini to the mega. He says: “Woe
to the multitude of many people who
make a noise like the roar of the
seas.” (Isaiah 17:12). Jesus identifies
God’s flock as little, as opposed to
large. He says: “Do not fear, little
flock, for it is your Father’s good
pleasure to give you the
kingdom.” (Luke 12:32). Thus,
Zechariah asks rhetorically: “Who has
despised the day of small
things?” (Zechariah 4:10).
Kingdom dynamics
Indeed, according to Jesus’ kingdom
dynamics, the popularity of a church is
eloquent testimony of failure and not of
success. Jesus told his disciples: “The
world would love you if you belonged to
it; but you don’t- for I chose you to
come out of the world, and so it hates
you.” (John 15:19). However, the world
loves today’s mega-pastors. Nothing
rubbished Pastor Adeboye’s ministry
more than Newsweek’s declaration that
he is one of the world’s most respected
men. Jesus says: “Woe to you when all
men speak well of you, for so did their
fathers to the false prophets.” (Luke
6:26).
The wisdom of God is contrarian, “she
calls aloud in the street; she raises her
voice in the public squares.” (Proverbs
1:20). “No king is saved by the
multitude of an army; a mighty man is
not delivered by great strength. A
horse is a vain hope for safety; neither
shall it deliver any by its great
strength.” (Psalm 33:16-17).
When applied to our vainglorious mega-
churches, this means no man is saved
by the size of a church, neither are the
wicked delivered by the great charisma
of a pastor. When we play the
numbers game in churches, we are
guilty of trusting in the multitude of our
mighty men. (Hosea 10:13). “This is
the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My
Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts. Who
are you, O great mountain? Before
Zerubbabel you shall become a
plain!’” (Zechariah 4:6-7).
One of the great mountains before
Zerubbabel was Solomon’s temple.
Those charged with rebuilding it were
intimidated that the new temple would
not have the splendour and majesty of
the old. But God is not concerned with
size and other externalities. Through
Haggai, he notes that, in spite of its
physical shortcomings, “the glory of
this latter temple shall be greater than
the former.” (Haggai 2:9). Before
Zerubbabel, the great mountain of
Solomon’s temple would become a
plain.
When the disciples extolled the
splendour of the Jerusalem temple to
Jesus, he replied: “All these buildings
will be knocked down, with not one
stone left on top of another!” (Matthew
24:2). The same fate awaits the
magnificent cathedrals of today.
However, the real temple of God, the
body of Jesus, remains impregnable.
Jesus said: “Destroy this temple, and in
three days I will raise it up.” (John
2:19).
God’s verdict
In the kingdom of God, it is the stone
the builders reject that becomes the
headstone. (Psalm 118:22). This
prophecy is bad news for mega-
churches and their mega-pastors
because it predicts they will ultimately
be rejected. According to Jesus, the
first will become last and the last first.
(Mark 10:31). So today’s “first-class”
pastors and their majestic churches will
eventually be humbled.
Isaiah says: “every valley shall be
exalted and every mountain and hill
brought low.” (Isaiah 40:4). This
indicates that, in the day of the Lord,
we are likely to discover that the big
church is small in the sight of the Lord
and the small church is big. Mega-
church “wanna-be’s” readily sacrifice
the doctrine of Christ on the altar of
the imperatives for a large following.
But we are not called to empire-
building but to righteousness. Indeed,
Jesus says to popular mega-churches
across the ages: “I know your works,
that you have a name that you are
alive, but you are dead.” (Revelation
3:1).
David got into trouble with God when
he became preoccupied with size.
When pride moved him to conduct a
census in Israel in order to glory in the
size of his kingdom, God responded by
decimating it with pestilence which
killed seventy-thousand men. (2
Samuel 24:1-15). Jesus himself was
not the product of a big “church,” but
of little Bethlehem Ephrathah. (Micah
5:2).
Why are Christians still so sinful? Why
is so little of the character of Christ
evident in the churches? One major
reason is that too much emphasis is
placed on numerical growth and too
little on spiritual growth. Indeed, the
messages that promote numerical
growth often impede spiritual growth.
Everywhere, pastors are engaged in
church-planting, for the primary
purpose of increasing their dominion
and finances. The outcome is the
mushrooming of churches that are
impressive to men, but contemptible to
God.
Isaiah warns: “Because you have
forgotten the God of your salvation,
and have not been mindful of the Rock
of your stronghold, therefore you will
plant pleasant plants and set out
foreign seedlings; in the day you will
make your plant to grow, and in the
morning you will make your seed to
flourish; but the harvest will be a heap
of ruins in the day of grief and
desperate sorrow.” (Isaiah 17:10-11).

I liked the answer this German Muslim scholar gave when he was asked about terrorism and Islam :
He said : Who started the first world war ? Muslims ? Who started the second world war ? Muslims ? Who killed about 20 millions of Aborigines in Australia ? Muslims ?? Who sent the nuclear bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ? Muslims ?? Who killed more than 100 millions of Indians in North America ? Muslims ??
